The Hand of Confession – Chapter 361

Volume 11: The Days of Traversing Through the Mirror

Fell to Death

Under the quilt is a twisted, shattered face

Bed 1 left a step ahead of them. After a short while, the two of them also finished washing their faces and walked back while talking.

“Ah——!!”

Before they even reached the dormitory door, they heard a shrill, mournful scream from afar. The sound came from the end of the corridor; it sounded like the newcomer.

The two exchanged a glance. Shen Maomao threw her towel over her neck, held her basin, and ran forward.

Gan Ze from 3048 was closest to the door. By this time, she had already pushed open the dormitory door. Peng Xiaorui jumped down from the upper bunk like a monkey, poking her head and brain out1 to peek into the room next door.

Despite such a huge commotion, the other dormitories besides theirs remained completely unresponsive. It was clearly a sunny noon, with sunlight spilling out from the windows on every dormitory door, yet it revealed a kind of dense, chilling death energy2, making one shudder without being cold.

“What’s wrong again this time?” Seeing them, Peng Xiaorui asked.

“Don’t know,” Shen Maomao answered. She didn’t stop her feet, walking past her to continue forward, and then kicked open the door next door with one foot——mainly because she had a basin in her hands and couldn’t spare a hand.

The smell of blood assailed their noses, almost smoking Shen Maomao into a somersault3. The little newcomer was shrunk on her own bed, her whole body curled into a ball, looking like a hedgehog that had sensed danger; Bed 1 stood by the table, covering her nose with her hand.

The few people from 3046 were surrounding the first iron bunk bed in an encirclement formation. From the position of the Bed 2 upper bunk, a dark red liquid was currently flowing down along the edge of the bed, blooming into a disgusting stain on the white floor.

It was blood.

Shen Maomao looked around the circle and asked, “What happened?”

Bed 1 answered, “I came back to wake her up. As soon as I lifted the quilt, blood surged out.”

Shen Maomao said, “Is it convenient for me to go in and look?”

Bed 1 stepped aside: “Up to you.”

Shen Maomao threw her basin on the ground, mimicked her movements to climb onto the table, and raised her hand to lift the quilt4. Unexpectedly, she couldn’t lift it at all with one try.

Beside her, Bed 1 added, “It’s soaked full.”

Soaked full of what?

She didn’t explain, but Shen Maomao had already seen it.

She lifted a corner of the abnormally heavy quilt, revealing the other side that was completely dyed red with blood. Under the quilt was a twisted, shattered face. It was as if she had fallen from a height of over ten meters; the corpse’s eyes were opened wide, eyeballs bulging, dying without closing her eyes5.

The scene was slightly disgusting. She only took one look before letting go, allowing the quilt to block Bed 2’s face, and then lightly jumped down from the table. “Did she have any reaction after she fell from the bed in the middle of the night yesterday?”

“Just those things I said; the others didn’t speak,” Bed 1 said. “The only strange thing is, if she died when she fell, then who was the one sending messages in the group later?”

The person on Bed 3 said, “We are in a horror story. Maybe a ghost used her phone to send them. I feel there is no need to dig deep into this point. Right now, we should think about what she did to trigger death.”

At this moment, the little newcomer suddenly raised her head timidly to look at them and opened her mouth to speak: “Yesterday… after she fell down, she even played on her phone for a long time…”

Hearing this, Shen Maomao raised an eyebrow and looked at her.

The little newcomer thought she didn’t trust her and said quite agitatedly, “What I said is true!! I didn’t dare to sleep much all night. When she fell, I was completely awake. Before I fell asleep, I even specially looked at my phone; at that time, it was probably already past two o’clock, and her place was still lit up.”

Shen Maomao didn’t mean that she didn’t believe her and said, “Didn’t say I don’t believe you, don’t get agitated.”

The newcomer lowered her head and wiped away tears. “Sorry… I was too scared.”

Shen Maomao didn’t pay her any more attention. She turned to look at the corpse and said to the others, “No saving her, the person is already dead through and through. Did any of you see her phone?”

Bed 1 was silent for a second. “Maybe… underneath the quilt.”

No one in the dormitory wanted to have much contact with the corpse. For a moment, everyone looked at each other, face to face6, and no one spoke anymore.

Finally, it was Hai Dongqing who said, “Let’s do it together?”

Shen Maomao didn’t count on them either. She directly climbed onto the table with Hai Dongqing, one on each side, dragged that abnormally heavy quilt down, and slammed it onto the table.

With a baji sound, the saturated juices inside the quilt were squeezed out by the fall, almost splashing onto Shen Maomao’s calf. She retreated a bit with quite some disdain, her back pressing against the railing of Bed 3 and 4, standing on tiptoes to crane her neck and peek at the position of Bed 2.

Without lifting the quilt, they wouldn’t have known, but once the quilt was lifted, they finally saw Bed 2’s twisted limbs under the quilt.

Shen Maomao found it hard to describe that feeling. Bed 2’s death state was too tragic. She had seen all kinds of rare and weird ways to die in games, but they were far from being as bloody as this, nor as discomforting.

She forcibly endured the discomfort to look around the circle but failed to see any square object resembling a phone in the pool of blood.

Hai Dongqing said, “Trouble you to pass the broom over for a second.”

Bed 1 quickly offered up the broom with both hands.

Hai Dongqing’s face didn’t change color. Like a wolf fire7, she held the broom backhanded, raised her hand, and just poked, so skilled it made people afraid.

She poked for a while, flipped the corpse over, then shook her head and said to everyone, “It’s not there.”

The little newcomer was the first unable to accept it; covering her mouth, she rushed out. The other few people in the room also averted their gazes one after another, their complexions somewhat ashen and defeated.

Hai Dongqing put down the broom and looked at Shen Maomao. “What to do next?”

“Ah? Ah… Ah ah…” Shen Maomao’s face was full of confusion. Usually, she followed Lou Jingmo; how come she had to be the lead now? Was she worthy? She was not worthy!

But since Lou Jingmo asked this, she had no choice but to employ her not-very-large brain and start thinking of countermeasures. “Next… how about we try if we can call the police?”

The others: “…?”

Hai Dongqing took out her phone. “Good proposal!” As she spoke, she started dialing 110.

Shen Maomao’s tears almost fell. Supporting her like this—why did she look less like the real Lou Jingmo instead?

However, it was a pity that this call did not go through.

Peng Xiaorui, who was poking her head and brain out outside the door, said, “How about we report it to the class teacher? Otherwise, who among you wants to handle the corpse?”

Bed 1 said, “More than just not wanting to handle the corpse, I don’t even want to live here anymore.”

Although the blood hadn’t permeated through to her bed, anyone would likely feel uncomfortable in their heart having such a thing happen right above their head.

Wu Mei said, “I’ll talk to the counselor. Everyone do what you need to do; there’s still class during the second period in a while.”

Everyone dispersed at this point. Shen Maomao carried her basin and returned to her own dormitory with Hai Dongqing. Beside them, Peng Xiaorui muttered, “Is there a problem with the phone? Then how come I’m fine? I feel like I played on my phone for a pretty long time…”

Bai Lu said, “It’s not necessarily the phone’s cause; maybe she was simply unlucky.”

Everyone changed their clothes respectively. Just as they went out the door, they were startled by a mushroom squatting in the corner of the wall.

Shen Maomao: “Fuck, what the hell?!”

The person in the corner raised her head, revealing a pale face. “It’s me…”

It was the newcomer.

The newcomer said, “I want to walk with Wu Mei… that Qi Xian is so scary…”

Shen Maomao thought for a while before remembering that Qi Xian referred to the bad-tempered Bed 1.

Wu Mei comforted her with a soft voice, “It’s okay, she won’t do anything to you. Do you still have the feeling from last night and the day before?”

The newcomer stood up, drooping her shoulders, and shook her head. “Not anymore. After changing beds, I didn’t have the feeling anymore.”

The group listened to the two of them talking as they went downstairs. After quickly passing in front of the mirror, they immediately felt a wave of heat assault their faces; it was actually slightly warmer than inside the room.

Shen Maomao couldn’t help but tucao8 to Hai Dongqing beside her, “With these gusts of Yin energy, one would see ghosts even without ghosts.”

Although it was a bit convoluted, Hai Dongqing strangely understood and nodded in agreement.

When they walked to the entrance of the cafeteria, Shen Maomao naturally turned right. Beside her, Bai Lu said, “You actually still have the mood to eat?”

Shen Maomao: “Why not?”

Peng Xiaorui gave her a thumbs up. “You guys are truly strong.”

Because the other few people were disgusted by the morning’s situation, they didn’t have much appetite at this time. They simply separated from Shen Maomao and her companion, heading in the direction of the teaching building.

Shen Maomao finally obtained the opportunity to be alone with Hai Dongqing. After getting her food, she couldn’t help but turn on BB pager mode9: “It’s you, right? It’s you, right? It’s you, right? It’s you, right?”

Hai Dongqing… no, it should be Lou Jingmo, placed her index finger vertically before her lips and said, “Shh——don’t say that name. I need to deceive Him…”

Shen Maomao blinked her eyes, indicating she understood.

Lou Jingmo let go of her hand and smiled. “I always feel uneasy not keeping you under my eyelids.”

Shen Maomao smacked her lips and tasted some sweetness from this, unable to stop herself from smiling into a flower10. “I knew it——” You couldn’t bear to part with me.

Before the remaining half-sentence could be spoken, Lou Jingmo continued and finished the following words: “After all, you are so capable of zuo11; I’m afraid you’ll zuo yourself to death.”

Shen Maomao was expressionless. “Hurry up and roll away, stinky woman.”

Women affect the speed at which she beats ghosts12.

Lou Jingmo couldn’t help but start laughing. After laughing enough, she said seriously, “But unless you encounter life-threatening danger, I will not provide you with any help in this instance.”

Shen Maomao wasn’t that kind of person who didn’t know good from bad. Hearing this, she patted her almost non-existent chest and said, “Rest assured, leave it to me! I can do it!”

Lou Jingmo revealed an expression of being unable to bear looking straight at it. “Stop patting; it’s already flat enough.”

Shen Maomao almost poked through the bowl with her chopsticks.

Fuck, this woman is toxic!!! When she’s not around, she misses her and thinks of her; when she’s by her side, she angers her so much she wishes she could give her her favorite big slap on the mouth.

But honestly speaking, although she was always angered half to death by Lou Jingmo, as long as she was there, Shen Maomao’s confidence was exceptionally sufficient. She felt particularly safe in her heart and wouldn’t be timid and shrinking when looking for clues.

“So you deliberately said your name is Hai Dongqing?” While walking out after eating, Shen Maomao suddenly remembered this point and asked.

Lou Jingmo smacked her lips. “Gyrfalcons eat rabbits, after all. Is there anything wrong? Rabbit meat tastes quite sweet. Rabbit juice…”

Shen Maomao’s face exploded red, and she hurriedly went to cover her mouth. “You fucking shut up!!!”

The author has something to say:

Late! But! Arrived!!!

It’s the end of the term and I’m really a bit busy. I originally planned to update yesterday, but yesterday I was writing my completion thesis and really couldn’t spare the time. Then today I went to fix my teeth again, and I also have to organize the questions I need to memorize in a few days. I accidentally dragged it out until this late QWQ

I thought I took leave until the 20th. Occasionally I clicked open Jinjiang13 and saw the leave note was still there, so I didn’t think much of it. I forgot it was the 18th TAT.

Moreover, one thing that makes me relatively painful is: I spent these past few days copying notes for several books until my hand broke, AND! NOT! A! SINGLE! SUBJECT! WAS! CHECKED!!!

I fucking copied for nothing; this bunch of teachers is very bad!!!!

I might have to take leave to memorize questions in a few days, but I will try my best to make up for what I owe this month after the holidays next month!!! Sorry everyone!!

ps: Actually, I originally planned to be thick-skinned and extend the leave, but looking at the little cuties waiting to be fed in the comments every day, my conscience faintly ached. I will try my best to maintain updates for a few days!!
