Volume 6: Days of Being Zapped in the Lab
Electric Shock
I’m really not a lesbian
Shen Maomao was both baffled and aggrieved.
She had heard that in the past, some places used electric shocks to “treat” homosexuality. When a person reacted to someone of the same sex, they would be electrocuted. Over time, whenever this person saw someone of the same sex again, they would feel fear, turning from homosexual to homophobe.
Leaving aside how long same-sex marriage laws had been in place, and the fact that homosexuality wasn’t a disease at all, just look at this group’s method for identifying homosexuality—why did having a reaction to a female body mean she was a lesbian? Her sexual orientation had always been towards men!!
Electric currents coursed through her limbs and body1, bringing an unbearable stinging pain. Shen Maomao howled and shivered, saying, “Damn it, I don’t like women! I just appreciate the beauty of a pretty girl’s body! And your method is unreasonable!! I’m not feeling desire for them, I just find looking at these kinds of pictures stimulating!”
Lou Jingmo: “…” She could already picture Shen Maomao’s sneaky expression when looking at such images.
Shouting like this seemed to genuinely give the white coats a new idea. The next second, the image on the screen changed from a beautiful woman to a handsome man with eight-pack abs, and the electricity flowing through Shen Maomao stopped.
She took a moment to recover, then focused intently on the picture. Soon, the lines on the electrocardiogram began to fluctuate faster.
Shen Maomao: “See! Your method for identifying homosexuality is completely wrong!! Everyone reacts when they see a beautiful physique! This reaction doesn’t mean we’re like beasts; it’s appreciation for a person! That’s all!”
Lou Jingmo: “…”
The white coats were skeptical. After all, they had been experimenting for so long, and Shen Maomao was the only exception; she lacked universality. So, they changed the image above Lou Jingmo’s head to the same man.
Lou Jingmo: “…” Completely unmoved2, even felt a little like laughing.
The white coats began to question their lives.
Were these two toxic or something? One reacted to everything, the other reacted to nothing???
They gathered together to discuss, temporarily stopping the torment of the two women.
Shen Maomao struggled to turn her head towards Lou Jingmo: “I suspect you’re frigid.”
Lou Jingmo: “…” She suspected Shen Maomao was bisexual.
But she couldn’t say that out loud; Shen Maomao would get shocked if she did.
After discussing for a while, the white coats returned to the machines. One of them pressed something unknown, and the image on the tablet changed again, showing a very intense scene of a man and woman fighting [having s*x].
Belatedly, Shen Maomao felt ashamed—seriously, she was over twenty, past the age for R-rated content restrictions. She’d seen things she should and shouldn’t have seen, just lacking practical experience. She was a normal woman; of course, she’d react to such a scene—but the moment she got a little excited, the electrocardiogram displayed everything. It was practically a public execution! The shame meter had maxed out, okay?!
Compared to Shen Maomao, who couldn’t control herself during her public execution, Lou Jingmo on the other side remained composed and indifferent3, showing absolutely no reaction, like a cultivator devoid of desire, the type who could see through the mortal world and ascend into the void at any second.
The effect wasn’t ideal. After a while, the image changed again to two young women fighting. They fought fiercely, pulling hair and biting. The woman being pinned down screamed constantly, while the other panted heavily from exhaustion. Watching this made Shen Maomao’s heart rate shoot towards 180 mph; it felt like it had opened up a whole new world.
Oh! So it was like that!
Wow! Could they even do that?!
With her reacting like this, the white coats didn’t know whether to shock her or not.
Meanwhile, Lou Jingmo on the other side finally lost her composure; her electrocardiogram started jumping faster. The white coats swarmed over like flies drawn to blood4, buzzing forward.
The machine started running, the sound of electricity crackling—“Zzzzzzzzz”—loudly. Just from the sound, it was clearly much stronger than the shock Shen Maomao had received earlier.
Lou Jingmo bit her lower lip, fists clenched tightly, never letting out a single sound.
Shen Maomao grew anxious: “No—Didn’t I tell you this thing isn’t accurate?! If you don’t believe me, show me some gay guys, I guarantee I’ll react too! Does that mean I’m a gay man? You should examine your own judgment criteria first!”
One white coat looked at her anxious expression, seemed to realize something, and suddenly changed the image on the tablet in front of her to Lou Jingmo being electrocuted.
Shen Maomao froze like a strangled screaming chicken5, all words caught in her throat, unable to make a sound.

Although it felt really inappropriate, but… Lou-jie’s body really was beautiful!!!
The muscles trembling from the electric shock, the gentle sway of her chest, the taut curves of her body, that expression caught between a frown and not…
Replacing that pinched face with Lou Jingmo’s real face, Shen Maomao’s nose instantly started bleeding profusely.
“Aaaaaahhh!!” The electric current shot from her toes to the top of her head at the same instant. Shen Maomao howled in pain, “Are you nuts!! We have—socialist sisterly love, okay?! What’s wrong—with getting a nosebleed looking at a pretty sister!!! I’m a woman too!! What’s wrong with me looking! If I got a nosebleed looking at a man, that would mean there’s something wrong with my thinking, okay?!”
Unfortunately, this time the white coats wouldn’t listen to her nonsense anymore.
The electrocution wasn’t continuous. These bastards6 were cunning; they gave the subjects rest periods, intermittently playing these stimulating images. As soon as you reacted, they shocked you, until you stopped reacting altogether.
It was also the first time Shen Maomao realized she had the potential to be a pervert. The moment she saw those kinds of pictures, she got excited; the moment she got excited, she got shocked. After a short rest, the agonizing process would repeat.
Under such electric shocks, every minute, every second became exceptionally hard to endure. Several times, Shen Maomao thought it was finally over, only for the same process to begin again the next second.
Perhaps after what felt like a century, they were finally released from the apparatus. Shen Maomao dry-heaved twice, feeling nauseous and awful.
Her hands trembled as she put on her clothes, getting an early taste of what Parkinson’s7 felt like.
After the electric shock session ended, the two were dragged out of the electrotherapy room through another door, and then the guards just dumped them and left.
Shen Maomao struggled to her feet. Using all her might8, she produced a series of bizarre noises while carefully observing if any red eyes appeared near the sound source. After watching for a long time, no red eyes appeared; this area seemed to be free of surveillance.
But even without monitors, Shen Maomao didn’t know how to talk to Lou Jingmo—getting shocked because she got too excited looking at the other person’s body… no matter how she thought about it, it was incredibly embarrassing!
Besides them, there were several identical doors on this platform. One door opened, and two men were thrown out, lying on the ground like heaps of mud, too exhausted to even lift a finger.
Lou Jingmo glanced at them, then walked forward on unsteady feet. Shen Maomao quickly followed behind her.
They hadn’t walked far when the aroma of rice drifted from the other end of the corridor. Shen Maomao’s stomach rumbled, and she took a deep breath of air: “Smells so good…”
The long silence was finally broken. Lou Jingmo said, “Go eat. They probably won’t starve all us test subjects to death.”
Shen Maomao: “What about you?”
Lou Jingmo: “I’m going to ask around for information.”
“Let me go with you.”
“No need, you’ll just get in the way9.”
Shen Maomao: “…” Did she have to be so blunt? Her pride was wounded!!
The two parted ways at the cafeteria entrance. One wandered around the vicinity, while the other walked into the cafeteria, scanned the room, and then casually got in line for food.
There were several people in the cafeteria, all wearing the same “prison uniform” as her, with numbers ranging from one hundred to three hundred. No one was talking. Shen Maomao couldn’t tell who were Players and who were NPCs, but everyone was paired up with someone of the same sex, likely having just come down from the electroshock tables like her.
The food queue finally reached Shen Maomao. The meal was very simple, even crude—stir-fried green vegetables that looked unappetizing and smelled purely of greens. However, Shen Maomao wasn’t a picky eater; as long as it had some saltiness, she could eat two steamed buns with the vegetables.
No one spoke in the cafeteria; the air seemed stagnant, very oppressive, making her feel uncomfortable.
During this time, a few more pairs arrived, but without exception, none spoke, silently sitting and eating their food.
Shen Maomao quickly finished her meal10, then followed the others’ example by placing her tray in the designated spot. She walked out of the cafeteria and ran right into Lou Jingmo coming towards her.
Lou Jingmo crooked a finger at her, and the two returned to the corridor without the red eyes.
“I asked around,” Lou Jingmo said. “They said the electric shock is the easiest experiment.”
Shen Maomao didn’t even want to think about what she had endured all morning, and that turned out to be the easiest??
Lou Jingmo said, “Makes sense, though. If it were just treating sexual orientation, there’d be no need to lock so many people up in this kind of environment. Plus, do you remember the screams late last night?”
Shen Maomao certainly remembered; the memory was still fresh.
“Those screams were probably from other experiments,” Lou Jingmo continued. “For us, the morning is treatment time, the afternoon is free time. Test subjects for experiments A, B, and C must return to their rooms before dark. Those who don’t get back in time… usually never come back.”
Shen Maomao: “But we can’t see the sun here, and there are no clocks. How do we know when it gets dark?”
Lou Jingmo spoke quickly: “Remember the bell this morning? The bell rings for ten minutes. Test subjects must return to their cages before the bell stops, or they die. This is only the second day; let’s not break the rules for now, try to get back early. For the first three days, experiment C is safer. It hurts, but it’s not lethal. I haven’t found out about the other experiments yet. We’ll figure that out later.”
This trash game, it was definitely trying to screw them over!
Shen Maomao once again dragged the faceless game creator out, mentally flogged his corpse a hundred times over, and then cursed him out thoroughly11.
The author has something to say:
It’s not Yang Yongxin12 _(:з」∠)_
It’s like an underground laboratory; homosexuality treatment is just one type of experiment.
And girls really do appreciate other girls’ bodies! Shen Maomao is straight!
It’s not like seeing the pictures causes arousal; the white coats’ confirmation method itself is flawed. Human emotions are very complex; for example, Shen Maomao’s minor stimulation also causes a rapid heartbeat, which is reflected on the electrocardiogram _(:з」∠)_
I give up, writing “body” (肉——ti)13 gets censored, changing it gets the chapter locked, I’ll change it back. When you see 口口, just know what it means.
LP: This chapter is actually funny but sad at the same time
