Can You Give Me a Little Love?
Yuan Yue’s single word, “Pervert,” landed like a clap of thunder. Yu Xi, forgetting to react, looked down into Yuan Yue’s hazy eyes. “Who did you say is a pervert?”
“You are!” Yuan Yue had mistaken Yu Xi for Guo Xiangyuan. Thinking Guo Xiangyuan was trying to take advantage of her while she was drunk, she was so angry her teeth itched1. She waved her hands, trying to scratch Yu Xi’s face, but the touch was unexpectedly smooth and delicate. “Huh?”
This doesn’t feel like I imagined. How could a grown man2 like Guo Xiangyuan have skin that’s even better than mine???
No, wait. This isn’t Guo Xiangyuan. This feels like a woman.
The more Yuan Yue felt around, the more something seemed off. Against the light, she couldn’t see Yu Xi’s features clearly. Her two restless hands moved downward, exploring past the person’s slender neck before stopping at a certain place.
Squinting, she moved closer. Yuan Yue stared intently at the fair skin exposed at Yu Xi’s chest, poking it lightly with a finger as if she had discovered something new. She giggled foolishly and said, “So soft, so fun.”
With that, she started trying to pull open Yu Xi’s clothes.
This all happened in an instant. When Yu Xi came to her senses, she grabbed Yuan Yue’s hands, her brows knitting together.
Yu Xi never would have thought she’d pick up a drunkard late at night, and that this drunkard would, by sheer coincidence, be her neighbor, Yuan Yue. The other woman clearly didn’t recognize her and was using her drunkenness as an excuse to grope her.
Who’s the real pervert here?
Yuan Yue’s actions made Yu Xi’s skin crawl. Seeing the state she was in, Yu Xi knew she wouldn’t get any sense out of her. She laid Yuan Yue down.
Forget it. It’s on the way, anyway. I might as well be a good person and take her home.
Yu Xi was about to get back into the driver’s seat, but Yuan Yue refused to let go, clutching tightly to the hem of her shirt. She looked at Yu Xi with pleading eyes and said, “I want water.”
There happened to be an unopened bottle of mineral water on the dashboard. Yu Xi grabbed it, twisted it open, and handed it to her.
Yuan Yue tilted her head back and began drinking with a glug, glug, glug.
Seeing her drinking like an ox3, and smelling the alcohol on her, Yu Xi wrinkled her nose in distaste and reminded her, “Rinse your mouth first.”
As if she hadn’t heard, Yuan Yue chugged down half the bottle. She looked at Yu Xi, then at the remaining half, and said with an innocent expression, “Hic, I already swallowed it.”
“…” Yu Xi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, unsure of what to say to her.
People who drink get thirsty easily. Yuan Yue proceeded to drink the rest of the water. She was a bit too full by the end, her cheeks puffed out as she couldn’t swallow anymore.
Sensing trouble, Yu Xi quickly leaned aside to dodge.
Yuan Yue stuck her head out the door and, with a splat, threw up.
Thankfully, it was all water and not something foul, or else Yu Xi would have definitely thrown her out of the car. Her gaze shifted from the puddle on the ground to Yuan Yue’s face. Yu Xi asked with a stern expression, “Are you sober now?”
Yuan Yue shook her head, looking at her without a word.
Seeing a bit of clarity return to her eyes, Yu Xi thought her condition seemed slightly better than before and asked again, “Do you know who I am?”
Yuan Yue shook her head again.
Yu Xi was amused. “You got in the car without even knowing who I am? Aren’t you afraid I’d sell you off?”
“Not afraid,” Yuan Yue said, her eyes firm, not looking like a drunk person at all.
Yu Xi gave up. It was a little funny. “Relax, I’m not a bad person.”
Yuan Yue seemed to half-understand. “Oh.”
Yu Xi pulled the seatbelt across and buckled her in.
Yuan Yue started to struggle. “What are you doing?”
Yu Xi deftly clicked the seatbelt into place, then patted her flushed cheek. “Be good,” she said. “I’m taking you home.”
Sure enough, Yuan Yue stopped moving. Her big eyes followed Yu Xi, full of trust.
Yu Xi turned her head away, feeling a little unnatural. She locked the doors and started the car again. Afraid that Yuan Yue might act up, she didn’t dare open the windows to air out the car, so she had no choice but to endure the increasingly strong smell of alcohol.
Fortunately, Yuan Yue didn’t cause any more trouble, and they arrived home smoothly.
But getting out of the car presented a huge problem. Yuan Yue couldn’t even stand steadily. Yu Xi had to use the strength of nine bulls and two tigers4 just to help her into the elevator. By the time they reached Yuan Yue’s front door, Yu Xi was already exhausted to the point of collapse. She asked, panting, “Where’s your front door key?”
She had just checked the back seat and didn’t see a purse or anything, so she had no idea where Yuan Yue had put her things when she left.
Yuan Yue blinked her eyes and said, “In my pocket.”
She was wearing a sleeveless tank top and a pair of faded jeans. Yu Xi glanced down and saw a bulge in one of her pants pockets. She reached in and, sure enough, pulled out a key.
Yu Xi had her lean against the wall and tried the key. The door opened after a moment. When she turned back, she found that Yuan Yue had, at some point, fallen asleep on the floor. Yu Xi cried out in alarm and hurriedly helped her up.
The two of them stumbled into the apartment together. Yu Xi used her last bit of strength to drag Yuan Yue onto the sofa before collapsing beside her. Before she could even catch her breath, she felt a sudden weight on her chest. Yuan Yue had rolled over and climbed on top of her.
Big eyes stared at small eyes.5
Yu Xi felt a warm, alcohol-scented breath wash over her face as the woman’s soft body squirmed against her like a snake. She tensed up, watching the woman on top of her without blinking. “What are you doing?”
“Who are you?” Yuan Yue suddenly asked, as if she’d only just remembered the question.
Yu Xi no longer had the strength to push her off. Bearing Yuan Yue’s weight, she said slowly, “I’m Yu Xi.”
“Yu Xi?” Yuan Yue mumbled the two words, feeling they were a bit familiar, but she couldn’t place the name. She tilted her head and said, “Who’s Yu Xi?”
Yu Xi frowned, thinking, Forget it, she’s just a drunk. Don’t stoop to her level.
“Yu Xi… which Yu Xi?” Yuan Yue was still stuck on her name. As she repeated it, her thoughts started to stray. “Is your nickname Xixi? Or Little Xi? Hey, Xiao Xi! You’re Xiao Xi!”6
What is all this nonsense?
Yu Xi didn’t understand what she was talking about. After recovering some strength, she reached up to push Yuan Yue off, but the tables suddenly turned. Yuan Yue straightened her head, leaned down, and kissed her right on the mouth.
It happened so suddenly that Yu Xi forgot to resist, forgot to even close her eyes. Before she could process it, Yuan Yue abruptly pulled her lips away, the soft, warm touch vanishing in an instant.
“What… what are you doing?” Yu Xi asked, her face a mask of shock, her eyes dark.
Yuan Yue looked at Yu Xi’s red lips, now glistening with her saliva, and giggled. “Kissing you!”
She said it so casually, oblivious to the waves crashing in Yu Xi’s heart. Yu Xi’s face remained impassive. “Why did you kiss me?”
“Because you’re cute! Xiao Xi, Xiao Xi, Yiyi7 likes you so much!”
“Cute,” “Xiao Xi,” “Yiyi”—Yuan Yue spouted more words that Yu Xi couldn’t understand.
With no desire to probe the real meaning behind her words, Yu Xi’s focus was still on the kiss. She stared at Yuan Yue with a complicated gaze and repeated in a low voice, “Like me?”
Yuan Yue had said something similar the day she’d hitched a ride, but back then she had said she “likes pretty girls.” This “like,” however, seemed different from the previous one. It felt like it carried another meaning.
Is “like” something that can be said so easily? Am I misunderstanding, or is Yuan Yue expressing herself poorly? Yu Xi was suddenly confused.
It was unclear if Yuan Yue understood Yu Xi’s question, but she nodded dumbly.
Does she even know what she’s saying, what she’s doing?
Just as Yuan Yue’s fingers started playing with her mouth, as if about to kiss her again, Yu Xi couldn’t take it anymore and pushed her aside.
“Ouch—” Yuan Yue cried out.
Seeing the pained look on her face, Yu Xi felt a pang of regret. She moved closer and helped her up. “Are you okay?”
Yuan Yue sat on the floor looking pitiful, rubbing her bottom and frowning. “My butt hurts.”
Yu Xi: “…”
Yuan Yue reached behind her as if to get something, but her arm was at an awkward angle and she couldn’t get it out. After struggling for a while, she had to ask Yu Xi for help. “My phone is in my back pocket.”
Yu Xi finally understood. She reached over, and as soon as she touched the hard phone, Yuan Yue’s body started to squirm, giggling that it tickled.
Yu Xi had no choice but to lift her up, quickly pull the phone from her back pocket, and then lay her flat, telling her not to move again.
With her arms and legs held down, Yuan Yue stuck out her tongue and said, “Hot.”
The air conditioning wasn’t on, and it was indeed very hot. Yu Xi realized she was covered in sweat from the struggle. She stood up to turn on the AC, but her hand was grabbed.
Now what? Yu Xi was getting impatient. She turned her head and froze.
Maybe it was her imagination, but Yu Xi felt that Yuan Yue’s gaze was somehow different now. She looked away, suddenly wanting to stop engaging. Her tone was hard. “Since you’re home, I’m leaving.”
“Don’t, don’t go,” Yuan Yue pleaded, holding on tightly, her unfocused eyes filled with a plea. Was that tiny, shimmering thing in her eyes a tear?
Yu Xi was taken aback.
“Can you hug me?” This time, her voice held a sob, like a poor, abandoned creature.
Yu Xi didn’t know what trick she was trying to pull now and stood motionless.
But Yuan Yue couldn’t wait. She shot up into a sitting position and wrapped her arms around Yu Xi.
Yu Xi subconsciously wanted to push her away, but she stopped her hands halfway. She said, her face expressionless, “Yuan Yue, what exactly are you trying to do?”
Yuan Yue buried her head in Yu Xi’s hair, inhaling her unique scent. As if hinting, or perhaps coaxing, she said, “Can you… give me a little love?”
“…” Yu Xi pushed her away again.
But Yuan Yue burst out crying with a loud wah.
Yu Xi’s expression turned to panic, unsure how she had upset her this time.
She had seen plenty of people make a fool of themselves while drunk. Some would shout and scream, others would sleep quietly. But she had never met anyone like Yuan Yue, who could laugh one moment and cry the next, completely impossible to figure out.
Yuan Yue cried inconsolably, tears streaming down her face. Yu Xi thought she had hurt her by pushing her away. Helpless, she knelt down and looked into her tear-filled eyes, apologizing awkwardly, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.”
“Wuwuwu—” Yuan Yue sobbed with her neck craned, like a child who had suffered a great injustice. “It’s been six years! No one has ever held me properly, no one has loved me! Why did you push me away?!”
Yu Xi opened her mouth, wanting to argue, but she didn’t know how. She just watched her in silence, watched her pout aggrievedly, watched her cry her heart out.
She remembered the first two times she’d seen her. She had loved to laugh, and her smile was bright and dazzling. Who knew she would become so fragile when drunk?
She just wants a hug. Is that too much to ask?
In the end, Yu Xi was defeated by her tears. She reached out and hugged her.
Not knowing how to comfort people, Yu Xi could only pat her on the back and say, “Don’t cry.”
Yuan Yue leaned against her pitifully, sobbing as she spoke. “You don’t know how lonely and empty it is to be alone.”
Yu Xi didn’t know what she had been through, nor did she want to pry into someone’s private life while they were drunk. She just soothed her as if coaxing a child, stroking her fur8 and letting her act spoiled.
A dampness spread across her neck. Yu Xi thought it was Yuan Yue’s tears, but a second later she realized it was a person’s tongue9. Her mind went blank with a *buzz*, and she pushed Yuan Yue away once more.
Completely wrong. This isn’t acting spoiled, this is blatant seduction!
Her movements were gentler this time. Yu Xi held Yuan Yue’s shoulders and looked into her eyes. “You’re going to regret this.”
Tears glistened at the corners of Yuan Yue’s eyes as she shook her head helplessly.
Yu Xi steeled herself, laid her down, and started pulling off her pants.
“Why?” Yuan Yue grabbed her waistband, looking at her in confusion.
Yu Xi was nearly stumped by the question. “How are we supposed to do it if I don’t take them off?”
This time, it was Yuan Yue’s turn to be stunned.
After pulling her pants off, Yu Xi found that she was already unbelievably wet. As she parted her slender white legs, her gaze was drawn to a distinct scar on her left thigh.
Yu Xi stroked the scar and asked her, “What happened here?”
