That “Bad” Woman Next Door – Chapter 37

I Didn’t Harbor Good Intentions Toward You From the Start.

That pair of man and woman heard footsteps and stopped. Among them, the man said, “There’s someone here too. Why don’t we go to the other side?”

The woman shook off the man’s hand and threw a temper tantrum, saying, “If you want to go, go by yourself. I’m tired of walking; I want to rest.”

After saying this, that woman stepped out of the water and walked toward the beach. That man hurriedly chased after her and grabbed her. “Wenya, we’re out on our honeymoon right now; we should be happy. Why are you unhappy again?”

The man and woman making a scene over there were none other than Sun Wenya and Xu Kai. Having not been in contact for a long time, Yuan Yue had almost forgotten what these two looked like.

The last time they met was when they went home for the Mid-Autumn festival. The moonlight was beautiful that night; Yu Xi and Yuan Yue were making wishes and kissing in the small garden downstairs when they also landed a straight hit from a crooked strike1 and bumped into this young couple having a spat. Unexpectedly, a similar scene was playing out again here today.

If the enemy doesn’t move, I won’t move2. Yuan Yue remained silent, instead pulling the bath towel draped over her body up over her head, revealing only a head, her eyes staring fixedly at the commotion over there.

This time, Sun Wenya didn’t shake off Xu Kai’s hand. Seeing her husband looking so aggrieved, her heart softened. She turned her head away and said, “I’m not angry; I just don’t like places with lots of people. Besides, I’m really a bit tired. I feel dizzy and nauseous. I want to go back to the hotel to rest.”

Seeing her flushed cheeks and furrowed brows, looking very uncomfortable, Xu Kai couldn’t bear to complain anymore. He held her and said, “I’m sorry. I just wanted to bring you out to have fun and make you happy, but I didn’t consider your body.” At this point, he suddenly became somewhat melancholy, and his tone dropped. “Last time I asked you to see a doctor, you refused. Given your current physical condition, we really aren’t suited to have children.”

“Xu Kai!” Sun Wenya suddenly interrupted him in a high voice, saying with a cold face, “I said I’m not sick. I don’t need to see any doctor. If you keep acting like this, I’m really going to flip my face with you!”

Xu Kai, seeing her displeasure, hurriedly changed the subject. “Alright, I won’t say another word about it. Let’s go back to the hotel.”

After a round of dispute, Sun Wenya and Xu Kai finally left. Since there was a distance separating them, Yuan Yue and Yu Xi tacitly remained silent, so they weren’t discovered.

As soon as those two left, Yuan Yue hurriedly lifted the bath towel covering her head, looked back at Yu Xi, and began correcting her mistake several beats too late. “Where did a love rival come from? There’s been nothing between Sun Wenya and me for a long time.”

Yu Xi was unmoved and said lightly, “Just because you don’t doesn’t mean she doesn’t.”

Yuan Yue glanced in the direction the two had just departed, thought for a moment, and said, “I feel Sun Wenya still has some feelings for Xu Kai. Look, the couple is out on their honeymoon now and even considering having children in the future. This husband-wife relationship is very normal.”

Yuan Yue left the other half of her words unspoken. She really couldn’t figure out why Sun Wenya had repeatedly come to pester her before. However, given that Sun Wenya hadn’t looked for her recently, it seemed she had given up on her.

Yuan Yue harbored a sliver of relief, but Yu Xi didn’t think so. “That’s not necessarily true. It remains to be seen.”

Yuan Yue didn’t respond.

Next to them was a pile of coastal rocks. A wave crashed over, soaking both Yuan Yue and Yu Xi. Yu Xi took the opportunity to suggest going into the water. Yuan Yue’s face paled in fright, and she hurriedly refused, “No! I can’t swim.”

Yu Xi was dumbfounded. “If you can’t swim, why did you agree so readily to come to the beach with me?”

Yuan Yue said as a matter of course, “No one made a rule that you have to know how to swim to come to the beach. I just wanted to come and see.”

Yu Xi couldn’t help but laugh and suggested, “Do you want to learn? How about I teach you right now?”

Yuan Yue kept backing away, waving her hands repeatedly. “Better not. I’m afraid of the water.”

Yu Xi found this odd. She closed in on her and asked, “Why are you afraid of the water?”

Yuan Yue said extremely reluctantly, “When I was little, I secretly went to play in the river with my Ge3 and a big group of his male classmates. I almost drowned back then, and I’ve been a bit afraid of water ever since.”

Yu Xi hadn’t expected Yuan Yue to be so mischievous as a child. The story sounded quite harrowing. She thought about it and had to dispel her previous idea, changing her tune to say, “Alright then, I’ll join you in being a dry duck4 today.”

The past was unbearable to recall. Yuan Yue took her arm and said, “Let’s go pick up some seashells. We can take them back for Xiao Mi5 and Xiao Xi6.”

Out of consideration for Yuan Yue’s feelings, Yu Xi’s plan to get in the water fell through. They picked up seashells along the shore, walking further and further as time ticked by.

Yuan Yue got tired of picking them up. She looked up to find Yu Xi standing five mi7 away, holding her phone up as if taking pictures of her.

Yuan Yue walked over to her, naturally took the phone from her hand, and said, “Let me see.”

There were quite a few photos in the gallery, and the female lead in all of them was Yuan Yue alone. It turned out Yu Xi had just been secretly using her phone to document the entire process of her picking up seashells.

Yuan Yue kept scrolling back. She originally wanted to see what else she had taken, but Yu Xi tried to snatch the phone back, speaking very quickly, “There’s nothing before that. Don’t look.”

Seeing her get a bit agitated, Yuan Yue grew suspicious. She had clearly scrolled to earlier photos, but Yu Xi had suddenly covered the screen before she could see them clearly.

Yuan Yue wouldn’t let go. She pried Yu Xi’s hand away with force and insisted, “There clearly are. Why are you lying to me?”

It was rare for her to see Yu Xi lose her cool, so she guessed there must be some secret hidden in the earlier photos. Yuan Yue successfully regained control, scrolled to the earlier photos, took a closer look, and her eyes instantly went wide.

She looked at Yu Xi in disbelief, her voice unsteady as she said, “How could you… how could you keep this kind of photo…”

Before she could finish her sentence, Yuan Yue’s face flushed red, completely betraying her. She never imagined that the secret in Yu Xi’s phone was about her. The previous few photos were all her nudes…

Looking at those photos, Yuan Yue couldn’t even recall the circumstances under which Yu Xi had secretly taken them.

Although their relationship was already very intimate, Yuan Yue still felt embarrassed when it came to things like this. Sometimes she liked to act like a hooligan verbally, but deep down, she was still quite conservative.

Seeing her own nudes, Yuan Yue honestly felt they were spicy to the eyes8. She panicked and tried to delete the photos, but Yu Xi said airily, “Are you sure you really want to delete them?”

Yuan Yue said without blinking, “Of course I have to delete them. If a third person saw these, it would look so bad.”

Yu Xi didn’t stop her or state her position. She just suddenly sighed and said, “What a pity. That was our first time, taken the night you got drunk.”

That absurd night—although Yuan Yue couldn’t remember the details before, during, or after very clearly—she knew that night was special for her and Yu Xi. It was a wrong yet beautiful beginning, so she had always kept it hidden in the bottom of her heart.

Yuan Yue circled back to the topic, stammering, “Why would you take photos like that?”

Yu Xi looked at her in astonishment. “I didn’t take them; you clearly took them yourself. At the time, you even pulled my ear and forbade me from deleting them. You said they were a keepsake for me, so I would never forget you.”

“WHAT?!” Yuan Yue screamed, almost dropping the phone in her shock.

Yu Xi looked calm. “You don’t believe me? I have a video here too. See for yourself.”

Since the matter was exposed, Yu Xi simply openly brought out all the evidence. She opened a video, which soon played the scene of Yuan Yue and her messing around in the bathroom that night.

The short video made Yuan Yue blush to the roots of her ears. Yu Xi really hadn’t lied to her. She really had pulled Yu Xi’s ear, telling her to remember her and take responsibility for her, even saying that words were no guarantee and insisting on recording it as evidence.

She had seen both the photos and the video. Judging from the angles of the photos and the filming, it seemed they really were taken by Yuan Yue herself. The content of the video further proved that Yuan Yue was quite thirsty that night, and in the end, she actually forced Yu Xi to submit.

Yuan Yue couldn’t help but wonder: Yu Xi was dead heart and collapsed ground9 for her now, but was it because of her borrowing alcohol to feign madness10 and “coercion” that night? Did Yu Xi only accept her to take responsibility?

Yuan Yue felt like she had dug a pit for herself. She was powerless to defend her hooligan behavior and shameful conduct. Clutching the phone, she said with a guilty conscience, “Better delete it. I was wrong. I’ll never dare to force you again…”

Yu Xi looked at her in silence for a long time, her charming eyes filled with complex emotions. She sighed softly again and said, “I originally thought that after that night, we would have nothing to do with each other, so I couldn’t bear to delete them. Since you’re asking now, then delete them. Anyway, the days we’ll be together in the future are still long.”

Since Yu Xi had given the word, Yuan Yue’s trembling fingers deleted those obscene photos and the video. When returning the phone to Yu Xi, she asked uneasily, “Do you think I’m very lewd and shameful? To actually use your phone to shoot these things…”

Yu Xi remained noncommittal and said with deep meaning, “Then by your logic, wouldn’t I be even more shameless and lewd? Knowing full well that keeping these things might be detrimental to you, I still saved them.”

Yuan Yue knew Yu Xi’s phone was always locked. After all, having grown up abroad, she placed great importance on personal privacy. So, even though their relationship had developed to this stage, Yuan Yue rarely touched her things without permission. Today was purely a mistaken collision11.

Yuan Yue was momentarily speechless.

Yu Xi took a deep breath, faced her, and said unhurriedly, “There is something I must confess to you. I indeed started having crooked thoughts about you because of that night; my initial motives were impure. But later, I slowly fell in love with you. Your honesty and bravery, your kindness and passion attracted me. Now I find that I can’t live without you.”

At this point, she sneered, “I’m no goddess. Actually, I’m a shallow person too. I didn’t have good intentions toward you from the start; I just thought that I absolutely had to have you.”

Yuan Yue was holding a canvas bag in one hand, filled with seashells of various shapes and sizes. While she was in a daze, Yu Xi took the canvas bag away and tossed it aside.

Yuan Yue stared at her blankly and said, “Why are you suddenly telling me all this?”

Yu Xi took her hand and placed it over her heart, looking into her eyes, and said sincerely, “Because now I love you, and I consider you family. I don’t want to hide anything. I hope you can accept all my strengths and weaknesses.”

Yuan Yue reacted a beat too slow. Was Yu Xi exposing her own shortcomings?

Although Yu Xi put it very tactfully, Yuan Yue still understood. Yu Xi was saying she had initially taken a fancy to her because of physical temptation, but what did that matter? Now they were lovers who told each other everything. Their days together in the future would be long and enduring; who cared about the past?

Yuan Yue unconsciously curled her lips into a smile and whispered, “No matter what kind of person you are, I think you are good, very good—so good that I always worry you’ll run away.”

Yu Xi frowned and solemnly promised her, “I won’t run. Never. I promised you.”

Yuan Yue was already blooming with joy inside, yet she feigned reserve. “You said so much just now, but it really wasn’t necessary. Sometimes it’s not good to say things too plainly.”

“Is that so? But I’m about to say something even more explicit.”

“What?”

Yu Xi slowly pulled her closer until their foreheads touched. Gazing at her with burning eyes, Yu Xi said suggestively, “I want to make love with you. Now.”
