Just Want to Make You Unhappy
Zhang Qiang never dreamed she’d one day be tempted by a street stall owner with a line like “I’ll give you extra duck blood,” and then end up sitting at the stall, braving the strong wind, ready to eat Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup.
Sun Miao brought the Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup over only after she had been sitting for a while. She placed it in front of Zhang Qiang. Zhang Qiang glanced at it and discovered: Whoa, she really did give extra duck blood.
She broke open the disposable chopsticks and stated very haughtily, “I’ll give you the duration of this meal. What do you want to talk about? Speak.” Although she was haughty, Zhang Qiang actually had the standing to be so. If one day she were to tell someone else, “I can give you the duration of a meal to listen to you speak,” many people would wave wads of cash just to qualify for the chance.
And Sun Miao had obtained it with a 30 yuan bowl of Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup and a few extra pieces of duck blood.
Sun Miao pulled over a small stool and sat opposite Zhang Qiang.
“Director Zhang, do you know Su Ruixi?”
Sun Miao got straight to the point1. Director Zhang, having just swallowed a piece of duck blood, froze. In that instant, a myriad of thoughts2 flashed through her mind, and she reasonably began to suspect that the little boss in front of her had been specifically sought out by Su Ruixi just to secure the cooperation proposal.
Although thinking this way was a bit narcissistic, it was logical and well-founded. Besides, the fact that she had spent a long time in Jinling years ago and really liked Jinling cuisine was something everyone knew.
At this moment, Zhang Qiang somewhat lost her appetite, until Sun Miao said, “If you’re not going to eat it, you can give the Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup back to me.”
“Eat! Why wouldn’t I eat it!”
Fine, even if this was a setup deliberately arranged by Su Ruixi, she’d accept it. Who could blame Su Ruixi for hiring such a great chef whose Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup was this delicious? But was this chef even seriously following Su Ruixi’s orders? Who acts this cuttingly3?
Was this really a move to curry favor with her so she’d greenlight the cooperation proposal? Why was this little boss not only not flattering her but also managing to provoke her anger every day?
Zhang Qiang was speechless internally but replied normally, “I know her. She recently wanted to discuss a cooperation proposal with me, but Little President Su didn’t leave a good impression on me. Young people these days, they just can’t endure hardship. Their expression changes over the smallest thing. Back in my day…”
Sun Miao couldn’t bear to hear her talk like that, especially about Su Ruixi. So, just as Zhang Qiang was preparing to launch into a grand speech about her past, Sun Miao reached out and pulled the Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup slightly towards herself. Zhang Qiang, with quick reflexes, grabbed the bowl. The soup sloshed out a little, making Zhang Qiang feel a pang of regret.
“What are you doing? Why are you snatching my Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup?”
“It’s mine.”
“Nonsense! I bought this!”
Sun Miao stated righteously, “You haven’t paid yet.”
“…” Zhang Qiang was choked up again. She now suspected that this little boss wasn’t hired by Su Ruixi, but by Su Ruixi’s rival, specifically to sabotage the cooperation with her.
Sun Miao hadn’t actually intended to take back the Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup; she had meant to leave it for Zhang Qiang.
“I talked to you for quite a while yesterday. There’s no need for young people to endure hardship unnecessarily. Besides, you’re always talking about how you learned golf back then to negotiate business deals. Yes, you were impressive back then.” Sun Miao affirmed this point about Zhang Qiang. She also knew that conditions were tough back then, and carving out a path wasn’t easy.
Especially since Zhang Qiang was a woman. That she could walk out of the mountains with no background and rely on her own two feet, working steadfastly4 to achieve her current wealth and status—anyone would think highly of Zhang Qiang.
Sun Miao was no exception.
However, speaking of which…
Sun Miao looked at the somewhat smug Zhang Qiang and decided to just lay it all out: “But why are you forcing Su Ruixi to endure hardship unnecessarily? She wants to secure the cooperation, but she absolutely won’t sacrifice her dignity. Are you making her suffer like this because she truly ‘can’t endure hardship,’ or is it purely because you can’t stand the thought of ‘Why does she get to have a strong background, a good education, abundant resources, and stand before me without having to suffer the hardships you endured’?”
“Director Zhang…” Sun Miao paused, very serious. “But what you’re doing now—how is it any different from the people who humiliated you back then? When you see Su Ruixi standing in the corner, ignored and humiliated by you, don’t you really think of your former self? You climbed out of your family circumstances with great difficulty back then; now you see someone else walk in through the door and you’re unhappy, insisting they climb through the window instead?”
Sun Miao spoke very bluntly, so much so that Zhang Qiang couldn’t even eat her Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup anymore. She even slammed down her chopsticks directly. “Who the hell are you to spout such nonsense in front of me?!” Her eyes turned deep and somber, the imposing aura of someone in a high position pressing down on Sun Miao.
Her angry appearance was actually quite terrifying. Accustomed to high status, her imposing aura without needing to show anger was enough to make one’s heart pound with fear5.
But it had no effect on Sun Miao.
As the saying goes, the barefoot aren’t afraid of those with shoes6. Sun Miao was the barefoot one. She sat on the small stool, hands placed before her, relaxed and at ease.
Seeing her like this made Zhang Qiang even angrier. She stood up directly, looking down from above at Sun Miao, then turned with a wave of her hand, about to leave.
Sun Miao’s cool words froze her in place: “Not eating?”
Zhang Qiang almost couldn’t catch her breath. At this moment, she was caught—couldn’t leave, couldn’t stay.
She really, really wanted to eat the Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup. She had dreamed about it last night, and eating it this morning had alleviated her craving considerably. But a day had passed, and she still desperately wanted Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup.
This craving felt like ants crawling on her body; she even suspected this little stall vendor had added something to the soup. In the morning, she had specifically saved a mouthful for her assistant Tang to get tested. The result was completely normal; there was absolutely nothing untoward in it.
Zhang Qiang felt a bit relieved, which only made her crave the Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup even more.
A day had passed, it was so late, yet Zhang Qiang still couldn’t resist the temptation of the Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup and had run over to eat. Now, having only had two bites, she was so incensed by the argument with the little boss, who had even exposed her petty thoughts, that she flew into a rage out of embarrassment and didn’t want to eat anymore. But that one sentence reminded Zhang Qiang of tossing and turning last night, thinking about the Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup.
She absolutely did not want that kind of thing to happen a second time!
Zhang Qiang stopped in her tracks, turned her head, took a deep breath, and finally lowered her head. “I’ll eat.”
Sun Miao revealed a smile, but unlike her usual warm, gentle smile, this one was… exceptionally cunning.
“I’m not selling to you anymore.”
“???” This time she really almost couldn’t catch her breath. Disbelief first appeared on Zhang Qiang’s face, then morphed into astonishment, finally solidifying into a tangible expression that screamed: Are you crazy?!
“Wait, why won’t you sell to me?”
“Because I don’t like you. I even kind of hate you.” Sun Miao bent down, picked up the Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup from the small table, and then, amidst Zhang Qiang’s furious expression, poured it directly into the trash can. “You have the right not to do business with Su Ruixi. Similarly, I have the right not to sell to you.”
What Sun Miao did was merely give her a taste of her own medicine7. It was time for the high-and-mighty Director Zhang to experience what it felt like to be subjected to an intimidating display8 while also being refused business. Director Zhang was furious: “You think I’ll compromise and cooperate with Su Ruixi because of this? Dream on!”
“I don’t have that intention.” Sun Miao’s smile remained fixed on her face. Her voice was soft, yet it made Zhang Qiang fume9. “I just want to make you unhappy.”
Besides, Su Ruixi herself had already given up on this cooperation, so Sun Miao had no more worries and could offend Zhang Qiang freely. To say it again, it was that same phrase: the barefoot aren’t afraid of those with shoes. Worst case, she could just move her stall elsewhere. Could the formidable Zhang Qiang really impose a total ban on a stinky stall vendor10 like her?
Furthermore, many of her customers were wealthy people too. Even if they wouldn’t go so far as to offend Zhang Qiang for her sake, they could still secretly provide her with some convenience to ensure she could set up her stall smoothly.
Most importantly, she had the System! The System definitely wouldn’t sit by and watch her be unable to run her stall.
So Sun Miao wasn’t afraid of Zhang Qiang at all.
Seeing the Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup gone and Sun Miao treating her this way, Zhang Qiang left in a huff. Before leaving, she even threw out a harsh threat: “You remember what you did today!”
Sun Miao watched the person leave, then quickly packed up her food cart, preparing to go home.
“Sigh, what a waste of a bowl of Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup.” In Sun Miao’s heart, this was the only thing that truly bothered her. She rode her electric tricycle away and went to the duck seller’s stall.
Actually, the seller normally would have closed up shop long ago. But because Sun Miao bought a lot and helped process the ducks—the key point being that she processed the ducks seamlessly11—the stall owner was willing to stay open a bit longer for Sun Miao, selling her share before closing up and going home. Watching Sun Miao butcher the ducks there, the owner couldn’t help but praise, “Little Boss, you handle these ducks really well. I’ve been selling ducks for so many years, processed countless ducks, but my technique isn’t as good as yours.”
Couldn’t be helped; it was System special training.
Sun Miao took the ducks home and started thinking again about what dish to make. Mainly because Su Ruixi had indeed been quite wronged recently, she always wanted to do something to cheer Su Ruixi up. This felt a bit like she was eagerly pursuing her12, but who could blame her when Su Ruixi was her heartbeat guest13? Sun Miao just couldn’t help but feel happy seeing Su Ruixi, and wanted to comfort her when she saw her upset.
If Su Ruixi ate spicy food, making a duck dish would undoubtedly be much easier. But Su Ruixi didn’t eat spicy food, which put Sun Miao in a bit of a bind. Finally, after consulting Xiaohongshu14, she decided to make Plum Mint Duck15.

Not spicy, yet refreshing, tender, and smooth—Su Ruixi would definitely like it.
Having decided what to eat the next day and finished the prep work for the night before, she washed up, got into bed, and fell asleep early.
This is how people who have to get up early for work are; close their eyes and they’re snoring away.
Sun Miao slept early and soundly. Su Ruixi, having had her worries dispelled by Sun Miao tonight and eaten a delicious boxed meal, even getting to nibble on some duck snacks after working for a bit upon returning home, was also full of happiness.
Late at night, only one person couldn’t sleep.
That was Zhang Qiang.
She was older and had gone to bed very early. Also, because she had only eaten two mouthfuls of Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup that evening and then eaten nothing after returning home, feeling full from anger, she thought she’d try to sleep a bit earlier. But lying in bed, she replicated the previous night’s situation.
Tossing and turning, every time she closed her eyes, she saw the image of the Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup. Every time she turned over, it felt as if the taste of the Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup was still in her mouth.
She opened her eyes, her stomach growling; she couldn’t sleep at all.

So cool! I love Sun Miao!! Can’t wait to read more of it next time!
This roadblock would have been better if the Mc wasn’t the key and major factor in solving this ordeal, doing majority if not all of the work but at the same time enabling the negative characteristics of the FL.
Speaking of the FL, it would also would have been better if the story actually stuck to what it was telling e.g., FL being highly dignified and the likes. Cause from what I can tell, she was just desperately being led around with a rotten bone with her actual personality being thrown out of the window for temporary drama.
i don´t know about it…are the other rich people sending others to buy food everyday? if not, the plot makes no sense… or is the Director especially a foodie?
