Setting Up Stalls – Chapter 199

Have a Great Sense of Security

After Shen Yiqiu left, quite a few customers came one after another. Sun Miao arrived before six o’clock, and before seven o’clock, her dumplings were sold out.

It was purely that the customers were truly too enthusiastic.

There was also no way around it, mainly because Sun Miao had been away for too long, and the old customers were all crazy with hunger… They even did things like going to eat Chef Jiang Ping’s of Yuanfu Lou’s lion’s head as a flat substitute1; every single one of them showed withdrawal reactions2. Now that Sun Miao was back, wasn’t it just: the whole army attacks3, you know.

So as soon as she arrived this morning, there were more than twenty people waiting over there.

Before, when selling lion’s head, there were also quite a lot of people, but the situation at this time was completely different. Selling lion’s head, that was during a golden time slot, and the geographical location was also top-notch, so it wasn’t at all rare for that many people to be lining up over there and for them to sell out directly in one minute.

And now? Six o’clock in the morning, a time when most people can’t even crawl out of bed, plus being at the entrance of a niche scenic area in the desolate mountains and wild ridges, for this many people to come and line up was also a rare sight in the world.

Sun Miao looked at the time; if she had known earlier, she wouldn’t have made lunch for Su Ruixi in advance. If she went home at this moment, maybe Su Ruixi still wasn’t awake. She sent a message in the group chat, saying they were already sold out and that those who still wanted to come and buy shouldn’t come anymore. Immediately after, she packed up her things, preparing to go home.

Sun Miao didn’t look at her phone, but the group chat was by no means peaceful. Question marks were typed out one after another, and there were even people cursing in the street:

【Are you all livestock4, huh? So early in the morning! It’s not even seven o’clock, I only just got out of bed, and you guys bought everything?!】

【With this efficiency, I don’t believe it was people who live in the surrounding area or people going to the scenic area for fun; it was definitely all people from the group chat who bought them.】

【That’s too excessive, don’t you know to leave a little for us?!】

【When all is said and done, it’s still that Little Sun Boss prepared too little. This time she definitely didn’t prepare that many portions for people; if she had prepared ten thousand portions, could they have sold out this fast?!】

If Sun Miao saw this message, she would for sure feel a little guilty. What kind of person was the Sun Miao of the past? When she was selling beef pancakes, she was the kind of person who would bring raw materials, nestle in front of her small stall, and even use the afternoon time to make several more pots.

But now? She really doesn’t have a single bit of ambition left!

The system also felt a bit pained in its heart and grieved in its head5, but for Sun Miao, it was already enough. She had already earned a lot of small money money; her expenditures decreased, her earnings became more, and she had already saved up quite a bit. Especially this time selling water dumplings, one portion was 88, one hundred portions were 8800, and after removing the minimal costs, she would have an income of 8000 no matter what…

At just this level, Sun Miao felt she had beaten 90% of people.

She wasn’t that kind of especially greedy person to begin with; small wealth brings peace6, and this way was quite good.

Sun Miao drove the food cart, first going to a fish-selling place that was a bit farther away, and bought Spanish mackerel; and then she rode the vehicle back home.

Last night’s commotion was a bit fierce, and Su Ruixi still wasn’t awake. The brunch was all made, so Sun Miao simply washed up a bit, and then directly burrowed into Su Ruixi’s embrace. Su Ruixi sensed that Sun Miao had returned, her body relaxed some, allowing Sun Miao to follow the motion and burrow directly under her two arms.

Her voice was muddled: “You’re back?”

“En, it’s still early, you go on sleeping.”

“En.” Su Ruixi didn’t even open her eyes, reached out to scoop up the quilt a bit, rested her chin on Sun Miao’s head and ground it a little, and fell asleep again.

Sun Miao had slept late last night and gotten up early this morning, and had also done so many things; she couldn’t hold back and also fell asleep along with her.

Su Ruixi was woken up by hunger; the inside of her stomach was completely empty, and it was rumbling nonstop over there. She gave a yawn, opened her eyes, and discovered that her posture was completely different from when she had muddle-headedly fallen asleep before. Originally, it was Sun Miao nestled in her own embrace, but when she sobered up and looked, it was she who was lying in Sun Miao’s bosom.

Not only that, she was also hanging on Sun Miao’s body like a koala clinging to a tree. Her leg was resting on Sun Miao’s thigh, her lower leg clasped downwards, pressed against Sun Miao’s lower leg. The two of them, in this tangled-together posture, slept for a very long time.

The quilt had also been kicked way down, and could only barely cover their stomachs.

Su Ruixi carefully lifted her leg off of Sun Miao’s body, leaned her body back a bit, and reached out for her phone, wanting to see what time it was. The mattress in her room wasn’t too soft, but it did have a latex pad after all, so when she turned over, the mattress indented towards her side, causing Sun Miao to also wake up.

Sun Miao also gave a yawn, feeling like she had slept for a very long time today: “Susu-jie, what time is it?”

Su Ruixi got her phone and pressed a button; the screen displayed 13:56.

Seeing this time, Su Ruixi was a bit tongue-stuck: “It’s almost two o’clock.”

Sun Miao instantly became a bit more awake: “We slept for this long?”

“En.” This point, Su Ruixi also hadn’t expected. But she had seen a piece of small knowledge7 before: if a person sleeps next to someone with whom they feel a sense of security, it’s very easy to accidentally oversleep and sleep for an super long time.

In other words, Su Ruixi felt that places with Sun Miao had a great sense of security, and conversely, Sun Miao also felt this way.

This realization made Su Ruixi’s mood a bit better again.

The two of them climbed out of bed and went to wash up separately. Sun Miao was a bit faster; she went downstairs and, as a first step, heated up the brunch she had left for Su Ruixi. After Su Ruixi came down, she pulled her along to eat this afternoon meal together.

At the dining table, Sun Miao’s mouth wasn’t idle either; she also chatted with Su Ruixi and spoke of Zhou Ling’s matter.

“How about I deliver some dumplings for Zhou Ling to eat tonight, how about it? This matter is quite worth celebrating.”

“En.” Su Ruixi nodded. The main dish of mini wontons kept her from even lifting her head. In addition, eating the dishes Sun Miao made, don’t even mention how happy she was; naturally, she wouldn’t eat this bit of vinegar8. She also asked a question: “What about the water dumplings left over from yesterday?”

“I delivered them to the Samoyed in front and the landlord’s family’s doggie from before; they all quite love to eat them.”

“What you make is delicious.” Su Ruixi was not at all stingy with her praise. Although compared to the adjectives used by other old customers, like “too delicious” and “a delicacy of the human world,” it wasn’t much to look at, this was already the highest praise that could come out of her mouth.

“Haha, the doggies like it too.” Sun Miao thought of an interesting thing she had seen before while scrolling through videos: “That’s right, there are actually people online who have eaten dog food. They say dog food actually has no taste at all; no wonder many doggies don’t like to eat it. But doggies can’t eat things that are too salty, so dog food is just right.”

“Dog food originally has no taste, is that so?” This kind of thing, Su Ruixi really didn’t know.

After finishing the meal, Sun Miao wrapped dumplings in the afternoon, and Su Ruixi took a book and sat by her side, watching her work. In the evening, Sun Miao went next door to deliver Spanish mackerel dumplings. Zhou Ling’s mother had a look of being surprised by the favor: “I even heard my little sister-friends say that the Spanish mackerel dumplings she bought today were especially delicious. I was craving them, and was originally planning to go earlier tomorrow; I didn’t expect you to deliver them over today.”

The two exchanged pleasantries for a bit, and Zhou Ling’s mother was about to pay according to the price, but Sun Miao waved her hand and said there was no need: “This is my gift to Zhou Ling. If you still give money, then it doesn’t count as a gift. Congratulate Zhou Ling for me.”

“Okay, when Lingling gets back later, I’ll have her ascend the door to express her thanks.”

“No need, no need.” Sun Miao’s hand waved even faster; she put down the dumplings and left without turning her head back.

The next day was Sunday. Su Ruixi, as usual, was unable to get up early. Sun Miao drove her own electric vehicle and left first thing in the morning. She predicted that today’s sales probably wouldn’t be as fast as yesterday’s, and that she might have to wait until the afternoon to go home. As a result, she didn’t expect that when she arrived at the spot and took a look, there were even more people than yesterday.

It quite had the feeling of that time when she was selling lion’s head.

The sky before six o’clock, even though it was July, still had a bit of a hazy feeling. That batch of people just stood there so quietly, giving Sun Miao a jump scare. Before she could even get off her vehicle and push it over, those customers came up to Sun Miao and, with seven hands and eight feet, pushed and carried Sun Miao’s vehicle to the spot.

When she arrived at yesterday’s stall-setting position, Sun Miao was still a bit in a muddled circle9, not having reacted yet.

A customer got anxious: “Little Sun Boss, what are you still in a daze for? Quickly set up your little stall!”

Only then did Sun Miao return to her senses. She got off the vehicle’s seat, and while starting to tidy up the stall to set it up, she couldn’t help but ask: “No, what are you guys doing here so early? Also, don’t move my vehicle, this vehicle is quite heavy, what if you get bumped and injured later.”

The customers didn’t think it was a big deal: “Hai, what’s the big deal about this? The key point is that you quickly set up the stall and quickly make it for us; nothing else is a big deal.”

That’s not how you should put it…

Sun Miao muttered a few fragmented words in the bottom of her heart, and with nimble hands and feet, she set up the stall. Only when she put water in the pot and it started to boil did she let out a breath and begin to observe the customers in front of her.

There were really quite a lot of people; Sun Miao did a rough count and felt there were thirty or forty people. She continued to ask: “What is everyone doing here so early? There’s really no need, it’s not like I’m going to run away.”

“How would you not run away! As soon as you sell out, you run so fast that not even a shadow of you is left immediately!”

“Exactly, you simply don’t know, yesterday when you sent the ‘sold out’ message, I was in my car! I finally got a chance to glance at my phone while waiting for the traffic light, and the sky was about to collapse.”

“I thought that since yesterday was Saturday, not many people would come over first thing in the morning, and was even thinking of sleeping in. This is just great; I woke up from a sleep, and everything was gone. If I don’t come again today, tomorrow is a workday!”

Well, even if Sun Miao was a good talker, one person couldn’t out-talk so many of them.

The water boiled, and the person lined up at the very front began to order. This time, it surprisingly wasn’t the Hip-hop Yabi Duo; instead, other people had snatched the first spot. A daye10 who looked to be in his sixties stood with his hands clasped behind his back. The people behind him were all urging him to be faster, but the daye still looked at the sign in an unhurried manner.

He seemed to have some old-flower eye11 and couldn’t see clearly, so he even moved a bit closer to look.

Sun Miao didn’t have much of an impression of him and guessed he wasn’t an old customer from the group chat, so she opened her mouth and asked the daye: “Daye, I sell Spanish mackerel dumplings here. It’s 88 yuan for one portion, with ten pieces in a portion. Do you want to buy any?”

When the daye heard these words, his eyes widened: “What? This expensive?!”

As soon as these words left his mouth, the people in line also knew: the daye hadn’t figured out the situation at all.

Sun Miao paused for a moment, then continued to ask: “Then do you want to buy any?”

The daye repeatedly waved his hands: “No, no. I saw so many of you lining up here, I thought you could receive free eggs or something, but as it turns out, you’re selling something this expensive.” While shaking his head, he prepared to leave the line.

But just as he turned his body, he saw the one after another like-wolf-like-tiger12 gazes behind him, and he turned back again: “These dumplings of yours, are they delicious?”
