Why Aren’t You Selling Changfen Anymore?
With that thought, Sun Miao stopped hesitating. Without answering Su Ruixi’s question, she simply leaned in and pressed her lips against Su Ruixi’s.
Su Ruixi’s lips were incredibly soft—she had known this from their previous kisses. They were soft and thin, and perhaps because she had just eaten fruit not long ago, they carried a slight coolness and a faint sweetness.
Sun Miao loved this feeling. Her lips met Su Ruixi’s, pressing against them and gently grinding. Then, she did something that made Su Ruixi’s entire body tremble—she turned their usual light peck into a real kiss.
The French-kiss kind.
She had been cupping Su Ruixi’s face as she kissed her. The feeling was wonderful, intoxicating. It was a first for Sun Miao, and she subconsciously wanted to prolong it. But for Su Ruixi, it seemed a bit too intense. Her legs grew weak, and it looked like she was about to lose her footing. Sun Miao instinctively wrapped an arm around Su Ruixi’s waist, pulling her closer and supporting her weight.
Sun Miao suspected Su Ruixi’s weak spot was her waist. The moment she touched it, Su Ruixi struggled for a second, but after a brief struggle, she went limp again.
The fact that Su Ruixi had been able to pin Sun Miao to the sofa earlier, preventing her from getting up, was purely due to their posture and positioning. Sun Miao hadn’t been able to exert any real force, which was why she couldn’t get up or counterattack. But now, standing face to face, the difference in their physical strength and stamina was obvious.
One was an office worker who sat all day; the other did heavy manual labor, exposed to the wind and sun. There was no way Su Ruixi could escape from Sun Miao’s grasp.
More importantly, Sun Miao’s lung capacity was better than hers!
As the kiss deepened, Su Ruixi grew disgruntled. She pressed her hands against Sun Miao’s shoulders, trying to push her away. Sun Miao figured that was about enough and retreated slightly. But since she had been supporting Su Ruixi’s weight, she was afraid Su Ruixi might fall if she pulled away completely, so she kept a hand on her to steady her.
Su Ruixi’s face was flushed from the kiss. She was about to say something to Sun Miao, but when she looked up, she saw that Sun Miao’s face wasn’t in much better shape. She was blushing too, right to the tips of her ears. They met each other’s gaze, and seeing Su Ruixi’s watery eyes, Sun Miao felt a little shy herself.
In the next second, they both turned their faces away.
After a moment, Sun Miao was the first to speak. “Th-Then I’ll head back to my room. Goodnight… You… Susu-jie, you should also get some rest.”
“Ah… Mm, okay. Goodnight.”
Their speech was a bit jumbled, but the sentiment of “goodnight” was conveyed. They glanced at each other one last time, both filled with bashful embarrassment, and hurried back to their respective rooms. For two people whose romance had been on the level of primary school kids1, that French kiss was a little too stimulating.
Sun Miao, who was always an early sleeper, found herself lying in bed, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep. She touched her lips with her fingers, thinking about how Su Ruixi had looked just now. Her Susu-jie’s lips, after being kissed by her several times, were red and moist, looking exceptionally plump and bouncy, as if she had applied a layer of lip gloss. They looked even more delicious.
Su Ruixi usually wore matte lipsticks in shades of true red or dusty rose, which suited her temperament and image. But just now, her lips looked as if they were coated in pink lip gloss, which made her seem younger.
Paired with those equally moist eyes, it made Sun Miao want to punch her pillow and scream.
Ah, that’s my crush! And she’s my girlfriend! Seeing her show that kind of expression because of her kiss, how could she not be excited?! They were both adults over 25, after all. Sun Miao had long known her own sexuality and had read up on the relevant topics. Naturally, she would fantasize about the scene after she pushed Su Ruixi down.
“No, no, that’s too R-rated, can’t think about it!”
Sun Miao had to hypnotize herself for a long time before she finally fell asleep. She woke up very early the next morning, but it was obvious she hadn’t slept well. Normally, she would feel refreshed after waking up and washing her face, but today, she couldn’t stop yawning.
Sun Miao swore she hadn’t had any R-rated dreams last night. That was because, in her dream, a cotton doll had launched a full-on assault against her. A Su Ruixi-version of a cotton doll swung its tiny fists, pounding on her while chanting things like “purify the six roots2.”
Under those circumstances, there was no way Sun Miao could have had an R-rated dream.
But on second thought, she would have rather had that dream than be beaten up by a cotton doll all night. Sun Miao wiped her face, grabbed the baby cream from the counter, and slathered some on. She looked at herself in the mirror and let out a “hiss.”
A woman dolls herself up for the one who loves her3. Now that she was in a relationship, she was starting to pay more attention to her appearance. Su Ruixi was so radiant and beautiful every day; it wouldn’t do for her to always look so plain and dusty standing next to her.
Sun Miao objectively evaluated herself. She was a pretty little beauty; if she were to seriously dress up, she definitely wouldn’t look bad. The problem was—she never seriously dressed up. She didn’t even shape her eyebrows, let alone wear makeup.
In the past, she didn’t wear makeup or do much skincare for two reasons: one, it was too expensive and she didn’t have the money; two, it was too time-consuming and she didn’t have the energy. Now, her little private vault4 had a good bit of money in it. Buying some affordable makeup and skincare products was no problem at all.
She really should start paying attention to skincare. Otherwise, when they were both old, Su Ruixi would still be an exquisite great beauty, while Sun Miao’s skin would be all wrinkled. They wouldn’t look like a good match at all.
Sun Miao decided that on her next day off, she would go to a mall counter to buy some good products. She was determined to start a proper skincare routine.
She yawned again and clapped her cheeks with both hands to wake herself up a bit more.
“Alright! Time for work!”
She made breakfast and lunch for Su Ruixi before leaving, heading out on her electric scooter.
Sun Miao hadn’t slept well, and neither had Su Ruixi. She was woken up by her alarm. After waking up, Su Ruixi washed up, sat down at her vanity table, and put on her makeup before going downstairs. By this time, Sun Miao had already left for work. The house was empty, but Su Ruixi didn’t feel lonely, because she had already spotted the food Sun Miao had left on the dining table.
She really hadn’t slept well last night. Tossing and turning in bed, she finally gave up, got up to do some work, and only collapsed into bed late at night. As a result, she dreamt of Sun Miao kissing her again.
When she woke up, her face felt scorching hot.
It had only just cooled down now as she sat at the dining table to eat her breakfast. Since Su Ruixi woke up later than Sun Miao, Sun Miao wouldn’t make things like noodles or rice vermicelli for breakfast; by the time Su Ruixi got up to eat them, they would have already been soaked soft by the broth and wouldn’t taste good.
So in the morning, she usually prepared “dry” foods.
This morning, there were two beef pancakes, a side dish of small vegetables, and a bowl of chicken soup sprinkled with scallions and a pinch of salt. Next to it was the insulated lunchbox Sun Miao had prepared, which she could heat up at noon. There was even a sticky note on it telling Su Ruixi that there was cut fruit in the fridge. It also said, “Do your best today too!”
Below the words was a smiley face drawn with two dots and an arc.
Just seeing this sticky note was enough to brighten Su Ruixi’s mood considerably. She took the note and placed it in a box inside a drawer of the sideboard. Opening the box, she saw several other notes Sun Miao had left for her.
Su Ruixi believed that one day, this metal box would be filled to the brim, entirely with Sun Miao’s notes. Perhaps this box wouldn’t even be big enough, and she would have to get another one.
After putting the note away, Su Ruixi sat down to slowly eat her breakfast. The food warmer plate was quite effective; Sun Miao had been gone for a while, but the food was still warm. Taking a bite of a beef pancake, a sip of the lightly flavored chicken soup, and a chew of the small side dish, Su Ruixi felt her stomach being soothed in the most comfortable way.
After finishing, Su Ruixi took the bowl and chopsticks to the kitchen to wash them. Washing a few dishes was no trouble at all. For just two or three bowls, there was no need to run the dishwasher; she could finish washing them herself in the same amount of time. She placed the dishes on the draining rack, wiped her hands, reapplied her lipstick, and finally left with her lunchbox.
As she drove off, Su Ruixi couldn’t help but look forward to what she would get to eat when she returned that evening.
But ultimately, it wasn’t what she would eat that she was looking forward to. She even felt that as long as Sun Miao was by her side, she would be happy eating a single slice of bread. So what she was really looking forward to was seeing Sun Miao.
Today was the sixth day of Sun Miao’s mini wonton and crab shell yellow stall; tomorrow would be the last. On this day, the cat owner didn’t come, nor did the lemon tea boss. When Sun Miao was packing up to leave, she felt a little worried.
It was only on her way home that Sun Miao received a message from the cat owner. First came a sticker of a little bird bowing, with the words “Thank you very much” underneath it. This was followed by a long message of thanks, in which the cat owner also confirmed that she had been successfully hired.
Sun Miao initially thought it was a message from Su Ruixi. She glanced at it while stopped at a red light and saw it was from the cat owner. She quickly read through it, then replied with a sticker of a little person scattering flowers with the words “You’re welcome.” The light was about to change, so Sun Miao put her phone away and sped off.
The fact that she had truly helped someone made Sun Miao even happier.
However, happiness is often followed by something less pleasant. As her stall’s run was nearing its end, she was finally found by the student faction. For the students, they had gone through nine days of effort with absolutely no results.
Being found this time was purely a coincidence; these few students were just randomly strolling through the park.
This world seemed to be able to randomly spawn the student faction in any location, so seeing students from the city’s Education Park in this park wasn’t a strange occurrence. Sun Miao didn’t recognize them at first, not until a female student asked, “Boss, why aren’t you selling changfen anymore?”
Her voice was hauntingly faint, emitting a sudden chill that made Sun Miao feel goosebumps rise on her back. A hint of guilt crept into Sun Miao’s smile. “It’s not good to sell changfen all the time, right? This week I’m selling Bubble Mini Wontons and Crab Shell Yellow. Do you guys want to try some?”
The student faction usually spawned in batches; they rarely appeared alone in any given location. So this time, two of them had spawned at once. The two female roommates stood arm-in-arm, and upon hearing Sun Miao’s words, their inner thought was: Aha, so we finally caught you!
