Panda Cub – Chapter 13

Night Meeting

When the two arrived, it was around 1 in the afternoon. By the time they showed up at the hotel, it was already 10 at night.

Thinking of the person who had left her to go to sleep alone the day before yesterday, she didn’t need to broach the subject herself—He Ying took the initiative and said, “It’s also getting late, let’s all go back to sleep first. I don’t have any recordings tomorrow morning, so I can take you all around for some fun.”

Hearing the prospect of sleep, Jing Dan was, of course, the very first to nod in agreement. However, Hu Tu…

“…”

It’s only 10 now, the night has barely begun, and you’re telling me to go back to sleep?!

However, her face full of speechlessness wasn’t picked up by the other two at all. After saying goodnight to each other, they each entered their own rooms.

Hu Tu: “…”

Fine, if you’re going to be heartless, don’t blame me for being unrighteous!

I’ll have fun on my own!

When it comes to having fun, Hu Tu would claim the second spot, and no one would dare claim the first! Although she hasn’t been to this place more than twice, she had already scoped out all the fun spots thoroughly.

After returning home for a shower and meticulous grooming, the vivid makeup was perfectly suited for the world of the night, and paired with that tight, red mini skirt, she was like a fairy wandering through the evening, turning heads left and right.

Just as she walked through the doors of the bar, even in such a dimly lit place, she instantly attracted many gazes. She glanced around nonchalantly, her eyes caught by a woman in the corner.

The flamboyant makeup outlined her enchanting charm thoroughly, and the upward flick at the corners of her eyes added a sharp arc, making the woman look both alluring and dangerously irresistible.

Hu Tu’s throat bobbed up and down as her gaze over the woman became even more detailed. The tight T-shirt revealed most of her waist, as supple and tempting as a water snake.

She piqued with interest, not expecting that a casual outing to try her luck would actually lead to an encounter with such a stunning beauty.

She went to the bar and ordered two drinks, adhering to the principle that Hu Tu, who always believed in taking the initiative to get what she wanted, knew that by making the first move, a story could unfold.

With drinks in hand, she sat directly across the woman, slid one of the glasses toward her, and stared at her with a smile, saying, “Care for a drink?”

It was not yet the peak hour at the bar, so even the music was notably softer, sparing her the need to shout.

The woman looked up at her, a flicker of interest sparking in her eyes, “Just a drink?”

Hearing this, Hu Tu sensed that the chances were high she wouldn’t be spending the night alone.

Her gaze on the woman grew even more fond—bold and forward; she liked that.

She was eager to see which of them could outdo the other in boldness.

“If that’s what you want, our night doesn’t have to be limited to just drinking.”

Jing Dan returned to her room, took a bath, and lay back on the soft bed. Suddenly, she found herself unable to fall asleep. Her mind was filled with all the things she saw that day, pondering over the path she should take in the future.

She closed her eyes, recalling the teachings of her aunt, how a company should be operated.

Ding—

She turned her head to glance at her phone, surprised to discover that it was a message from He Ying.

【He Ying】: Are you asleep?

Jing Dan was silent. She did not intend to reply, but hesitated after seeing the subsequent message she sent.

【He Ying】: I just ordered some late-night snacks, do you want to come over and have some?

【Jing Dan】: Okay.

Since she couldn’t sleep anyway, and there was food available, why not have some?

After sending the message, she got up and headed towards the door. No sooner had she opened her door than she heard the door opposite hers open at the same time. She looked up and met the eyes of the person emerging.

He Ying greeted her with a smile and swung her door wider, inviting her in.

Jing Dan, with a stern face, closed her own door firmly behind her. As she passed by He Ying, she didn’t spare her a glance, eyes fixed straight ahead.

The main reason she avoided looking at He Ying was that He Ying appeared as if she had just finished showering, draped in a bathrobe that was not properly fastened, of all things!

With these thoughts, Jing Dan tightened her face even more, turned around, and reached out to grab He Ying’s wrist, yanking her away from the doorway. Then, she forcefully slammed the door shut, turned back, and said seriously, “Don’t you know the hallways are monitored by cameras? What if you get caught on camera dressed like this!”

Doesn’t this person have any sense of safety at all!

Jing Dan felt it was necessary to have a serious lesson with her aunt to teach her how to protect herself when living alone outside!

Looking at her serious little expression, with her eyebrows knitted tightly as if it was a matter of great importance, He Ying couldn’t help but lightly laugh, nodding with a face that seemed eager to learn, “You’re right, it was too careless of me. I promise, it won’t happen again!”

With that, she raised four fingers as if taking an oath.

Jing Dan snorted coldly and then ignored her.

Seeing that familiar scoffing face again, He Ying’s smile grew wider. She led Jing Dan to the living room, where she had prepared some late-night snacks in advance, all arrayed in front of her. With her hands crossed and propped up under her chin, He Ying said with a smile, “During dinner, you seemed to eat very little, which made me think the food might not have been to your taste. Take a look at these, do you find them appetizing?”

During their earlier dinner of Hunan cuisine, the table was ablaze with fiery red dishes. After just a few bites, Jing Dan’s fair little face turned as red as a beet, and her eyes welled up with moisture.

Who would have thought that such a foodie could barely handle spicy food? If she can’t eat spicy, isn’t she missing out on many delicious flavors?

Jing Dan saw the late-night snacks He Ying had prepared: crayfish, grilled steak, pastries, and cold drinks.

How much must all this cost!

Jing Dan’s brow was furrowed with worry. Hu Tu had said that He Ying was really short on cash these days. If that was the case, how could she afford to be so extravagant?

“What’s the matter? Don’t you like it?” He Ying, seeing the worried look on Jing Dan’s face, couldn’t help but feel anxious.

Could it be that she didn’t like the things she had bought?

Jing Dan shook her head, “No, it’s not that. How much did all these things cost? I’ll transfer the money to you!”

As she spoke, she took out her phone, ready to send the payment as soon as He Ying told her the amount.

He Ying: “…”

What on earth was this kid thinking? Why did she suddenly veer towards the topic of money?

“It didn’t cost much, you don’t need to transfer any.”

What did she take her for? She had transferred taxi fare to her before, and now she was supposed to transfer money for late-night snacks. Did she really look that poor?

“No way! You must accept it! Otherwise, I won’t eat!” Jing Dan insisted, standing up as if she would leave immediately if He Ying didn’t agree to take the money.

He Ying: “…”

She had never seen someone so insistent on giving away money!

“Fine, fine, fine, then you transfer me five hundred.”

She rolled her eyes internally, thinking this brat’s temperament was as stinky as her face!

Hearing her agreement, Jing Dan felt relieved. After transferring the money to He Ying, she began to eat with much more confidence.

After all, she had contributed her own money, so it was almost like she was buying it for herself!

Watching Jing Dan eat with such relaxed brows and eyes, He Ying couldn’t help but smile softly along with her. Observing her joy seemed like such a happy affair; it was easy for her mood to infect others.

Seeing how Jing Dan struggled to peel the shrimp shells, He Ying took the initiative, donning gloves and said, “You eat the other stuff first, I’ll help you peel.”

He Ying peeled the shrimp quickly and adeptly, with a twist of the shrimp head and a pull of the body, the whole shrimp meat was swiftly and neatly peeled out. She then proceeded to remove the shrimp vein, before placing the clean shrimp meat into Jing Dan’s bowl in front of her.

Jing Dan watched her deft movements, slightly stunned as if she could hardly believe it.

“What are you zoning out for? Eat,” He Ying waved her hand in front of Jing Dan’s face to snap her out of her daze.

Jing Dan’s gaze fell upon the hand that was waving, and then moved back to He Ying’s face, looking as if she were waking from a dream.

Feeling somewhat uncomfortable with Jing Dan staring at her, He Ying thought to herself, “…”

What on earth is this kid thinking about now?

Jing Dan lowered her head and moved the entire basin of crawfish in front of her. Then, she placed her own bowl next to He Ying’s hand, making it easier for her to put the peeled shrimp into the bowl.

He Ying: “…”

Am I being treated like nothing more than a shrimp-peeling machine?

The author has something to say:

Current He Ying: “You little brat, you little stinker.”

Future He Ying: “Come here for a hug, and here’s a bottle of milk for you~?”
