Novel Turned Yuri – Chapter 101

Delaying strategy

This matter was not a sudden thought of Qiao Yu before returning home, but rather a “long-planned” scheme.

As early as when she received the admission letter from the university, she had already started considering this issue.

She remembered that there was a wish on Lin Qing’s wishlist for “renting a house together during college”. Although they were now attending universities in the same city and were very close to home, it seemed unnecessary to go out and rent a house. However, what Lin Qing wanted was not just the action of “renting a house”.

Qiao Yu was the same. She vaguely yearned for a place that could be called home by both Lin Qing and herself.

So when she told her parents about the admission results, she brought up this matter. At that time, there was a happy atmosphere at home, and Father Qiao even opened a bottle of champagne, making Qiao Yu feel an opportunistic sense of taking advantage of their happiness by making unreasonable requests. As expected, when she mentioned whether she could live outside during university, Qiao Yu’s parents’ faces immediately became complex.

‘What… what’s wrong? Are you uncomfortable living at home?’

Of course, she knew this would be their reaction. She had originally thought about whether she could avoid bringing up Lin Qing’s existence – it was really a somewhat embarrassing matter, but in reality, there was no need to keep it from them.

‘I want to live with Lin Qing.’

The unfamiliar sense of embarrassment of discussing emotional topics in front of her parents made Qiao Yu blush and awkwardly turn her head away.

‘I’ll come back to visit every few days… is that okay?’

In a rare timid tone, Qiao Yu did not receive a response for quite some time. She sneakily raised her eyes to look and saw her parents’ faces full of a mixture of shock and incredulity, looking like they were caught in confusion.

‘Yuyu…’ It was Father Qiao who spoke first. He seemed to have gotten a bit tipsy from the champagne he had been drinking, his neck was turning red. ‘Dad thinks… isn’t this a bit early for you both?’

‘Early?’

Qiao Yu blinked in confusion, thinking that if she hadn’t been banished, she would have brought up this topic two years ago. After thinking for a while, she decided to refute with the simplest argument.

‘It isn’t, we are both adults now.’

‘…’

Father Qiao was momentarily speechless, and he exchanged a glance with Mother Qiao. They exchanged eyebrow gestures for a while and finally reached a consensus.

‘Well, in that case… here you go.’

With a very decisive and supportive attitude towards Qiao Yu’s choice, Father Qiao rummaged through a drawer in the cabinet and solemnly handed her a bunch of keys. ‘There’s no need to rent outside, we have a house here.’

‘It was renovated when you were in your senior year, it was prepared for you two…’ He hesitated for a moment, carefully considered his words, and finally said, ‘It has a bridal chamber.’

‘…’

How should I put it, the level of support from her family for her and Lin Qing might be even higher than she had imagined.

After that, Mother Qiao subtly reminded her a few times that even though they were living together, they should not let it affect their studies. At that time, Qiao Yu nonchalantly agreed, thinking that living with a study genius like Lin Qing would only improve her academic performance. It wasn’t until President Cong made those comments not so subtly before she left that Qiao Yu belatedly realized what her mother might have been referring to.

…Honestly, these parents were all a bit unreliable. Or maybe, was it that she and Lin Qing seemed so ambiguous?

She even felt that her casual remark of “we are both adults now” might have held a deeper meaning in their ears, making the past unbearable to bring up.

Before the start of the school year, Lin Qing had always maintained a somewhat hesitating attitude towards their relationship, which made Qiao Yu also lack the courage to directly hand over the keys. Finally, on the first day of school confirming their relationship, shortly after that, she had to attend military training. The bunch of keys jangled in her pocket every day, making their presence felt, making Qiao Yu feel as if they were burning hot.

In the present circumstances where Lin Qing’s parents had already given their approval, it was now time for the bunch of keys to make an appearance.

Should one say “make hay while the sun shines”? Poor President Cong still hadn’t fully recovered from the fact that “Qingqing was truly whisked away by the Qiao family’s daughter”. She was laughed at by Mother Lin who already knew about it. Then, Lin Qing and Qiao Yu rushed towards them, saying they wanted to live together. President Cong was startled into a whirlwind of emotions, adsentmindedly nodding along with Mother Lin

Watching the two of them rush out in such a frenzy, President Cong stared wide-eyed, muttering to herself.

“Aren’t they progressing too quickly?”

“Not really, they have known each other for several years.”

Lin Jing shrugged noncommittally, showing full support for her daughter’s decision, while Cong Zhao seemed to feel aggrieved in a strange way.

“How many years have we known each other? Isn’t our relationship only confirmed now?”

Listening to her childlike complaints, Lin Jing couldn’t help but chuckle, and then she heard her resentfully add one more sentence.

“If we had such open-minded parents like theirs back then, we would’ve definitely been together a long time ago.”

“I feel like you’re indirectly praising yourself… alright, alright.”

Lin Jing chuckled softly, sighed, and placed her hand on Cong Zhao’s hand.

“I think things are fine as they are now. Or, does President Cong think I’m too old?”

“What?! Impossible!”

Seeing her lover desperately deny it and completely forget about what just happened, Lin Jing held back her laughter and listened with a serious face as Cong Zhao clumsily tried to explain, softly sighing in her heart.

Things didn’t go smoothly for them back then.

Also because of this, if Lin Qing had also actively chosen this path, then no matter what, she hoped that her daughter’s path would be smoother, and she could find happiness earlier than her.

Not being able to wait until the next weekend – or rather, having to restrain Lin Qing from leaving the Cong’s house late at night and going directly to their new home was already quite tough. On Monday afternoon, Qiao Yu had no classes and brought the excited yet nervous Lin Qing to their new place.

“Don’t worry, the house isn’t going anywhere.”

Even while waiting for the elevator downstairs, Lin Qing seemed unusually restless. Qiao Yu helplessly smiled and held her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze.

“…But I can’t help but worry.”

Although she was also aware that her impatience was a bit embarrassing, Lin Qing seemed to have difficulty controlling this emotion as she leaned slightly against Qiao Yu, resting her head on her shoulder.

“Why are you so calm?”

She even turned around and said that Qiao Yu was not in a hurry enough. Qiao Yu chuckled and caught her hand, placing it on her neck artery, tilting her head to indicate that she should feel it.

“…It’s beating so fast.”

Lin Qing said in a slight daze, seeing Qiao Yu nod at her.

“I can’t be called calm, I just know how to act like it.”

Adopting a fake serious tone, Qiao Yu’s words made Lin Qing laugh. Unconsciously, her hand on Qiao Yu’s neck moved upwards, gently caressing Qiao Yu’s neck, causing Qiao Yu to stiffen.

Fortunately, before the atmosphere became too ambiguous to handle, the elevator arrived.

The sound of the elevator opening startled both of them, causing them to step back and maintain a distance as they entered the elevator, standing straight with one in front of the other.

Luckily, the apartment her parents had chosen was in a new residential area, and there weren’t too many people living there yet. If their actions had been seen by others just now, it would have been really embarrassing.

Qiao Yu silently shifted her gaze away from Lin Qing, reflecting on the fact that they may have been too unrestrained recently.

Since the establishment of their relationship, particularly on Lin Qing’s side, it seemed as if she had removed some sort of limiter, becoming more bold, as she had stated on that day. Qiao Yu had always been open to her, which directly led to neither of them being in charge of applying brakes. They spent most of their time together closely attached, barely navigating within the boundaries of a healthy relationship, almost like walking a tightrope.

Is this sustainable?

Faintly aware that if they continued like this, the day of going too far wouldn’t be far off – but was this moving too quickly? How much time had passed since they re-established their relationship?

Qiao Yu managed to regain some rationality, feeling like a bit of control was needed to prevent the current situation from sparking an ambiguous fire with just five seconds of eye contact.

Not like high school students! University students should be more… more mature!

Although these words sounded weak and lacked conviction, Qiao Yu still decided to exercise some restraint.

So she obediently kept her hands down and followed Lin Qing out of the elevator, walking behind her, until they reached the door together.

“Have you been here before?”

In the brief pause as she searched for her keys, Lin Qing held her hand and asked softly.

“…No, I’ve only seen pictures from my dad, so this is my first time seeing it in person.”

Qiao Yu’s body tensed briefly, but this level of intimacy should be safe, quite ordinary, so she relaxed again and took out the keys to open the door.

“Because I wanted to come see it with you.”

“…”

Lin Qing held her breath slightly, her gaze lingering on Qiao Yu for a few seconds before finally looking inside the room as if awakening from a dream.

The interior decoration style of the room was similar to that of Qiao Yu’s own home, with a light-colored modern minimalist style. The house was not big, around 100 square meters with two bedrooms, and everything was very clean. It seemed like someone was responsible for regular cleaning.

(If you're not reading on littlepandatranslations.com, it means this has been stolen)

All the necessary furniture was there, but there weren’t many daily necessities, making the place seem a bit empty.

Lin Qing let out a sigh of amazement and ran back and forth in each room. The longer she looked around, the more her emotions swelled, even feeling a hint of bitterness.

“The equipment here is more complete than I had imagined… You could almost say it’s move-in ready, couldn’t you?”

There were even drinks in the refrigerator, causing Qiao Yu to marvel at her parents’ thoughtfulness and resolve to go back and thank them properly.

She took out two cans of drinks and handed one to Lin Qing, who was pacing in the bedroom in circles, leaning against the door and smiling as she asked,

“You choose a bedroom first, which one do you like?”

“…Choose first?”

Although it was a perfectly normal question, Lin Qing looked at Qiao Yu as if she had heard something unbelievable, causing Qiao Yu to suddenly feel a bit confused.

“…Yeah? You choose the one you like, and then I’ll take the other one…”

Qiao Yu spoke hesitantly, her voice getting smaller as Lin Qing’s expression became more serious. Finally, she fell silent, closing her mouth, afraid to speak further, her mind racing to figure out what she had said to upset Lin Qing again.

Seeing her deep in thought, Lin Qing sighed with a helpless expression, placing the drink on the side table with a loud thud, causing Qiao Yu to flinch.

“Qiao Yu.”

Calling her name, Lin Qing stepped closer, almost bumping into her before stopping in her tracks.

“…Are you saying we should have separate bedrooms?”

“…”

Huh? Isn’t it? Is this thought a very inappropriate one?

Accompanied by a long sigh from the system, Qiao Yu’s mind felt as if it had rusted, creaking and turning difficultly. But no matter how she thought about it, didn’t the idea of each person having their own room make more sense for a two-bedroom apartment? Although she thought so, she already understood what Lin Qing meant.

She really wished she couldn’t understand.

Qiao Yu felt the heat rising from her neck to her face, stammering as she spoke, “N-no, you see, if we sleep in the same room, it might be difficult to fit everything like clothes into the closet—”

“Then we can put them in the other room.”

“…And also, the bed might not be big enough, it could be uncomfortable to sleep—”

“The beds in both bedrooms are queen-sized.”

“Wait, Lin Qing, just wait a moment.” Unable to come up with any other excuses, Qiao Yu decided to be straightforward, “I think this is a bit… too fast.”

“Why?”

Being asked back as a matter of course, Lin Qing’s expression truly appeared baffled.

“We have slept together before.”

…Hmm? Does that mean just sleeping together normally?

But, but when they slept together before, it was before confirming their relationship! Sleeping together before being in a romantic relationship was enough to make her restless, but now, if they were to sleep together, it would be even more impossible!

…But she couldn’t say that out loud because Lin Qing’s eyes were truly clear and full of puzzlement, as if innocently wondering why they couldn’t sleep together like they did before. It seemed like she was the only one troubled by such impure thoughts. Oh, how dirty her heart is.

Qiao Yu felt extremely frustrated, pondering whether she should try hard to fulfill Lin Qing’s desire—but no matter how hard she thought, she couldn’t figure out how they could peacefully coexist in the future while sleeping together.

She was not a virtuous woman like Liu Xiahui.

Although she could still hold onto her rationality for the time being, Qiao Yu understood her lack of self-control very well. Simply put, when she was with Lin Qing, her resolve would melt, and at a critical moment, she couldn’t rely on it.

She had been thinking about controlling the current situation, but little did she know that Lin Qing was already considering advancing the situation, and naively didn’t consider the potential dangers involved…!

Qiao Yu couldn’t help but feel distressed, still speaking of reasons like “independent space” and “efficient use of rooms” which had absolutely nothing to do with the situation. Lin Qing quickly grew impatient and interrupted her, slightly furrowing her brows.

“Okay, how about this? When we move in, we’ll each put our things in our own rooms first. As for sleeping arrangements at night… we’ll figure that out later.”

It’s just a delaying strategy, isn’t it? Is nothing actually resolved?

But at least if we can each put our things in our own rooms… we’ll probably get used to the environment quickly and then come up with a solution… right?

(If you're not reading on littlepandatranslations.com, it means this has been stolen)

Holding onto this hope, Qiao Yu nodded silently. Upon hearing Lin Qing’s voice again, this time cheerful,

“So, what time should we move tomorrow?”

“…Tomorrow?”

Qiao Yu was dumbfounded, looking at Lin Qing nodding, revealing a somewhat embarrassed expression on her face.

“Because I still need to pack up after returning home, if you want to move in today, it might not be possible… but if we work hard, it could be achievable—”

“No, no, no, tomorrow. Tomorrow is fine.”

Qiao Yu quickly interrupted her, finalizing the matter with a rush, wiping the imaginary sweat from her forehead, opening the drink in her hand and taking a sip, using the cool liquid to ease the heat in her heart.

“I want a drink too.”

“…Aren’t yours on the table?”

Despite muttering this way, Qiao Yu obediently handed the drink to Lin Qing. She then, feeling confused, walked to the table and picked up the can of drink that belonged to Lin Qing, contemplating whether she should open it for her or put it back in the fridge.

Lin Qing casually sipped her drink, absentmindedly watching Qiao Yu’s figure.

She watched for a while, then lowered her head and lightly bit the edge of the can with her teeth.
