Little Alpaca – Chapter 4

Volume 1: Little Alpaca

Favorability, Two Hundred and Fifty.

Have you ever seen an alpaca spit?

Ptooey, ptooey-ptooey, ptooey-ptooey-ptooey, like a spray bottle about to run out of water, it was extremely mentally polluting.

And the spit from an alpaca that possessed a villain’s spiritual power would have a greater volume and a more ferocious force.

That mouthful of spit, charged to its maximum value with a bellyful of grief and indignation, shot out from the little alpaca’s mouth. It traced a less-than-graceful arc through the air, falling downward in twos and threes like scattered beans.

They were supposed to land on the despised villain, but as they drew infinitely close, they were deflected by a formless force.

Then, they transformed into one little green “0” after another. Like raindrops bouncing off the eaves, they hopped and skipped as they fell to the ground, then vanished without a trace.

Yi Qiu choked for a moment.

Cultivators of all races, upon reaching a certain level, would cultivate a layer of protective spiritual energy that was both invisible and intangible. This spiritual energy would strengthen along with one’s cultivation level, making it difficult for those with low cultivation to break through.

Of course, Yi Qiu knew that a humble grass-mud horse like herself could not possibly be a match for a Demon Lord of her generation. But she was familiar with the original novel and clearly remembered that there was a stream of You Yan’s spiritual power inside her own body.

The fact that she could pass through the barrier today and freely enter and exit You Yan’s sleeping chambers was, in all likelihood, related to this spiritual power.

Since this spiritual power originates from You Yan, Yi Qiu thought, maybe it can directly penetrate You Yan’s protective spiritual energy, just like it passed through the barrier You Yan set up?

She really wasn’t a naive person; she didn’t think that “innate skill” of hers, which looked so unreliable, could actually do much damage to the highly cultivated arch-villain before her. But no matter what, this was her only “skill.” Come on, show some respect, at least… at least let her break through her defense, right?

What the hell was with these five-mao special effects1 of “0”s floating all over the place?

And, and that bizarrely increasing favorability! Could it be that the system and the villain really made a deal, determined to piss her off to death?

She had only given a negative-score bad review, only spent two hours in the comment section looking for validation. And before giving that negative score, she had even gifted so many Overlord Tickets2. Did they really have to treat her like this?

Deep breaths, deep breaths. Why am I getting angry at a novel?

Don’t get angry, don’t get angry, if you ruin your body no one will replace it!

“Block damage numbers!” Yi Qiu gritted her teeth, widened her eyes, and glared viciously at You Yan.

But what kind of killing power could a little alpaca’s glare possibly have?

“Hmph!!!” Even her fierce-sounding cry had no killing power at all.

【You Yan’s Favorability +10】

Yi Qiu gave up. She really gave up.

She had never been so wronged in her life. This feeling was like… like that time she went to a classmate’s house to see their dog. The classmate held a ham sausage, passing it from his left hand to his right, but just wouldn’t give it to the dog. After a few times, it got so anxious it wanted to bite but didn’t dare, so it could only chase its own tail in circles on the spot.

At the time, she seemed to have been laughing beside them… yes, she was definitely laughing, laughing while thinking how dazed, silly, and dumb the little dog was, just so adorable.

Thinking back on it now, the Heavenly Dao’s cycle is truly fair!3

【You Yan’s Favorability +10】

Alright, is favorability free? It’s already up to two hundred and fifty!4

Even the favorability score has to mock her, is that it?

Forget it, forget it. A good sheep doesn’t eat food handed out in contempt;5 even in death, one must have integrity.

Yi Qiu’s eyelids drooped, her little face fell, and she slowly turned her back. She walked to her own food basin and, with nothing left to live for, let her head hang limply over a pile of tasteless grass.

After a brief silence, she sucked on a blade of grass, not chewing, just holding it in her mouth in a daze.

I want to eat vegetables, I want to eat meat, I want to eat the food in other people’s bowls…

“Getting pickier and pickier.” You Yan’s voice drifted over from behind her.

Yi Qiu listlessly glanced back, only to see a plate of fragrant scrambled eggs with green vegetables appear behind her.

The little alpaca perked right up!

She turned and walked to the plate, sniffed it with her little nose, and looked up at You Yan with a suspicious expression.

“For real? This isn’t a last meal6, is it?”

【For the Demon Lord to kill you is easier than crushing an ant. There’s no need to poison the food.】

“Alright, I get it. Shut up.”

Yi Qiu lowered her head to look at the vibrant green vegetables and the glistening golden eggs before her, swallowing unconsciously.

I was just throwing a tantrum a second ago. If I bury my head and eat now, wouldn’t that be a huge loss of face?

The little alpaca hesitated for a moment, then finally turned her little head away and let out a tsundere7 “Hmph~.”

“I was thinking you had opened your spiritual intelligence8 and wanted to eat something different,” You Yan said, getting up and walking to Yi Qiu’s side. She reached out and rubbed the fluff on her neck, smiling. “It seems you still only like to eat grass.”

With that, she reached out to take back the plate on the ground.

Yi Qiu panicked at the sound of this and hurriedly buried her head to take a big bite before You Yan could take the dish away.

They say that people who are starving to death won’t be picky eaters, and that was more or less Yi Qiu’s situation right now.

She didn’t know how long this alpaca had gone without eating before she transmigrated, but in just one afternoon, it had made her, a corporate slave9 pushing thirty, so hungry her chest was sticking to her back. Even eating a plate of scrambled eggs with green vegetables felt like tasting a delicacy of the mortal realm.

She knew her table manners must be awful right now, but she couldn’t be bothered. An alpaca can’t use a bowl and chopsticks, so how elegant could its eating be?

So satisfying!

If only there was some meat…

Eh, was You Yan handing over a small chicken drumstick?

Yi Qiu subconsciously licked her oily lips. She wanted to reach out and grab it, but found that her clumsy little alpaca hooves couldn’t hold the chicken leg steady at all.

The little alpaca hesitantly put down her hoof, pondering how she was supposed to eat the chicken leg in the villain’s hand. Her little fluffy head tilted this way and that for a long while, unable to find a suitable angle to take a bite.

You Yan couldn’t help but let out a silent, soft laugh. She lowered her gaze and tore off a small strip of chicken, holding it to the little alpaca’s dirty mouth.

Yi Qiu couldn’t help but freeze, taking a long moment to convince herself before accepting it into her mouth.

A normal alpaca, a perfectly normal alpaca, should accept being fed by its master like this. There’s nothing to be ashamed of.

Besides, the chef here was really skilled. The food tasted so much better than the takeout near her home.

A great woman knows when to yield and when to stand firm10. When I make something of myself in the future, find the male and female leads, I’ll find a way to expose this arch-villain’s conspiracy, join forces with them, take her out, complete the system’s mission, and return to my own world with a hefty reward!

Filled with a burst of motivation, Yi Qiu’s appetite grew the more she thought about it, and she ate until she was stuffed.

You Yan, with rare patience, fed the little alpaca all the food she had brought, one by one. Seeing that it was finally full, she then took out a silk handkerchief to wipe the little thing’s mouth.

The little alpaca had a look of pure enjoyment and didn’t try to dodge.

After wiping the alpaca’s mouth, You Yan stood up. With just a flick of her sleeve, all the plates and bowls on the floor were enveloped in a green, ethereal light and instantly returned to the food box on the table.

At the same time, Yi Qiu wobbled over to the water basin on the side and began drinking, lapping up the water with her head down.

As she drank, the system suddenly prompted that her health had recovered by 15 points, which put Yi Qiu in a great mood.

Full and hydrated, a wave of drowsiness washed over her. Yi Qiu squinted, opened her little mouth, and let out a yawn, her vision instantly covered by a layer of misty tears.

She subconsciously looked up at You Yan, who was preparing to leave, and abruptly remembered that her next meal was not yet secured. She leaped up from the ground, bounded to the doorway in a few hops, and turned sideways to block You Yan’s path.

“Hmph! Er~ Hmph!”

The little alpaca whimpered.

You Yan leaned forward, arching an eyebrow as she asked, “What is it now?”

The little alpaca hopped back to the food basin full of hay, an displeased look on her face. She lifted her little alpaca hoof, which only had two toes, and kicked upward.

The next second, the basin of hay was knocked over, scattering all over the floor.

She stomped on it a few times with her foot, grunted twice more, and then, like an old man, plopped her butt down on top of it.

Yi Qiu hoped that this Demon Lord before her could understand: her grass-mud horse had changed. It had become a grass-mud horse that did not like to eat grass.

She had never been a picky eater, so her demands weren’t high. All vegetables would be fine, and it would be even better if she could eat meat occasionally.

You Yan silently watched the little creature’s performance for a long time. Then, she calmly walked forward and gently pressed the pad of her index finger to the center of Yi Qiu’s forehead.

At the same time, the little bell tied around Yi Qiu’s neck also began to tinkle, as if drawn by some force.

A momentary chill struck her heart, frightening Yi Qiu so much that she shivered all over. She subconsciously wanted to pull back and dodge, but found her body felt as if it weighed a thousand jin11, completely unable to move.

Her heart dropped. For the second time, she foresaw her own death.

It’s over. I’m afraid the logic of my behavior is too different from the original owner’s, and the villain has seen through me…

It’s true. An old salted fish12 like me who can’t stand hardship or fatigue and just wants to muddle through each day really wouldn’t survive past chapter five in a novel.

At that moment, the little alpaca, whose limbs were trembling nonstop, suddenly gave up the struggle, whimpering as she closed her eyes.

But the expected pain never came. On the contrary, after a few seconds, she felt her body become much lighter.

【Successfully received spiritual power transfer from You Yan. All attributes have been enhanced.】

【Intellect +20】

【Spiritual Root13 +50】

【Strength +15】

【Agility +15】

Yi Qiu stared blankly at the values in her mind and slowly opened her eyes.

You Yan gripped her neck with one hand, but without any force.

She said, “You’d best be a little more obedient.”

Although they were threatening words, they no longer felt three parts icy and seven parts dangerous like before.

The little alpaca subconsciously shrank her neck, only to see You Yan release her. She raised a hand to casually fiddle with her little ear, a faint smile gracing her flawless face.

That smile seemed capable of hooking a person’s soul away.

Yi Qiu couldn’t help but be lost in a daze.

“I’m leaving,” You Yan said, then got up and left the place.

As the door to the room closed, Yi Qiu abruptly snapped back to her senses, her limbs so weak she couldn’t stand.

They say accompanying a ruler is like accompanying a tiger14. The Demon Lord was the ruler of the Demon Realm, so she was naturally capricious, and one must tread carefully.

Yi Qiu had only ever known that being a person was hard; now she knew that being a pet wasn’t easy either.

Regardless, she had somehow muddled her way through this first trial.

Yi Qiu let out a long sigh and glanced at the hay under her butt, then suddenly remembered something.

“System!”

【I’m here.】

“Check attributes.”

【Current Attributes】
Intellect: 100
Strength: 50
Spiritual Root: 60
Agility: 30
Health: 90
Stamina: 100
You Yan’s Favorability: 250

Looking at it this way, all the stats were rising pretty quickly.

It feels like with a little more effort, it won’t be long before I can become human. Once I have a human form, I can find a chance to escape.

It’s just that…

A favorability of two hundred and fifty was just too damn glaring!

Yi Qiu couldn’t help but think resentfully, This Demon Lord must be the woman in this world who, most of all, knows how to piss off a little alpaca to death.
