Little Alpaca – Chapter 16

Volume 1: Little Alpaca

Even When Hitting a Dog, You Must See Who Its Master Is.

This sudden surge in favorability caused Yi Qiu’s brain to crash for several seconds. When she came to her senses, she found the person she had spat on glaring at her, teeth clenched.

The man was dressed like the young master of a wealthy family. His words were honeyed and smooth, one line after another; a single glance told you he was a veteran of the wind and moon place1.

It was just that this veteran could never have imagined that he, too, would one day have his face washed with spittle.

And this spittle was not spat by a human, but came entirely from a little beast.

What was worse, Yi Qiu was full of resentment today, so her saliva had been accumulating for a long time. When it sprayed out, it was a pale green color, both sour and foul-smelling. Forget others having never seen such a thing, even she herself couldn’t believe something like this had sprayed out of her mouth.

A teahouse was a place where people gathered. Not only was this happening under the watchful eyes of the public, but a beauty was also seated right beside her. Forget a rich young master, even an ordinary person would not be able to sit still after having something so green and ugly spat all over their face in a situation like this.

Yi Qiu swore she truly had no idea her saliva would be so potent today.

When she was a human, she had always been a law-abiding citizen, living a proper and conventional life from childhood. Now that she was no longer human, she had made a mistake on impulse. Being yelled at with a strained voice, she was so frightened she froze on the spot.

Perhaps it was because an alpaca’s mouth is naturally upturned at the corners, making it look like it’s smiling even when stunned. Meanwhile, the alpaca’s owner sitting beside her not only failed to apologize but even laughed, not finding the situation a big deal at all. The taunt value was instantly maxed out, pushing the man from humiliation into a rage.

What could have been resolved with a single apology was now, due to You Yan’s spectator-like attitude, suddenly not going to be settled so easily.

But a man who still cared about his face, no matter how angry he was, would not do anything to a delicate and beautiful woman in public.

Thus, in order to regain a bit of face, he slammed the table, rose to his feet muttering curses, and lifted his leg to deliver a vicious kick to Yi Qiu’s small, thin body.

This person had some foundation in martial arts. Yi Qiu couldn’t react in time and was kicked several meters backward, heavily crashing into and shattering a set of tables and chairs behind her.

“Wuu wuu!”

On the night she had first arrived in the human realm, Yi Qiu had taken a kick from You Yan. The next morning, You Yan had said she hadn’t used any force. At the time, she hadn’t believed it. Today, compared to the man before her, she finally did.

It hurts so much. The searing pain spread from her right ribs, gradually engulfing her entire body.

Ever since she started living in this unlucky alpaca’s body, this was the first time she had felt pain. Her tears instantly lost control, falling in large, pathetic drops as her whole body uncontrollably curled up.

The man spat out “little beast” one after another, saying with sanctimonious righteousness, “Today, I’m going to teach you a good lesson on behalf of your master.” With a dark face, he walked a few steps to the little alpaca’s side, bent down, and picked up a broken stool leg.

The little alpaca didn’t even have the strength to flee. She stared fixedly at the person before her, her gaze filled with dread.

In recent years, authors always love to write plotlines where “scions of prestigious families don’t treat animals’ lives as lives” to contrast with the protagonist’s kindheartedness. After all, these are common tropes in Xianxia and Wuxia novels.

But aren’t these tropes usually used on the protagonist? How could I, a little alpaca who hangs around with the villain, run into it?

Is there any point to this? Can this serve to highlight the villain’s kindness?

No, the villain has no sentiment, the villain has no love!

Everyone says that even when hitting a dog, you must see who its master is2. Yi Qiu suddenly felt that in the villain’s heart, she was probably worth less than a dog. Otherwise, why would You Yan still be standing idly by when even a nameless Passerby A3 was laying a foot on her?

Just as this thought crossed Yi Qiu’s mind, You Yan suddenly whipped out her long lash, sending the broken piece of wood in the man’s hand, which was about to strike her, flying.

Everything happened too suddenly. Before Yi Qiu could react, she was spattered with fresh blood.

The man’s leg was broken. The severed limb was thrown into his own arms. After a brief moment of shock, the pain arrived with a delay, twisting his face.

But You Yan had no intention of letting him go.

Chuixue, like a spirit serpent, coiled around the man’s neck. In an instant, it snapped his cervical vertebrae.

When the long whip was withdrawn, the man was already out of breath.

Inside the teahouse, some shrieked in terror, others scrambled to escape, but the teahouse doors slammed shut in an instant.

With just a wave of You Yan’s long sleeve, the space was filled with a bone-chilling green spiritual light4.

The next second, You Yan stepped forward and grasped one of Yi Qiu’s front legs. Yi Qiu only felt her vision go black, and when she opened her eyes again, she was in a deserted alley.

“Does it hurt?” You Yan’s brows were tightly furrowed, her fingers brushing against the little alpaca’s feverishly hot belly.

The little alpaca was trembling violently—not from the pain, but from sheer terror.

Heavens knew what a huge shadow that last scene had cast on her fragile soul! A living person, right before her eyes, had his leg broken and then his neck snapped, dying in an exceptionally clean and efficient manner!

And if you traced the cause of death back to its source, it was perhaps just a mouthful of her spit.

I did not kill Boren, yet Boren died because of me5.

This terrifying feeling made it difficult for her to recover her senses for a long time.

You Yan used her spiritual energy to alleviate some of Yi Qiu’s pain, then checked her body over again. Seeing no major damage to her internal organs, she finally relaxed her brow.

“I saw you weren’t moving and thought he had done something to you,” You Yan said, her tone as light as a cloud and gentle as the wind6.

The little alpaca was still stained with blood, yet she seemed to have completely forgotten what she had just done. There wasn’t even a ripple of emotion in her eyes.

Having spent so much time with You Yan recently, she had almost forgotten that this woman who loved to bully and tease her was, in the original novel, a ruthless, cruel, and merciless demoness whom everyone wanted to denounce and kill.

Killing, to her, was perhaps truly as commonplace as eating and drinking.

If a person could be killed on a whim, how special could a little alpaca be?

Realizing this, Yi Qiu trembled even more violently.

You Yan: “What are you trembling for?”

Yi Qiu: “Um…”

She didn’t want to tremble, but there wasn’t a single part of her body that would listen to her commands.

With a tap of her fingertip, You Yan undid the silencing spell on Yi Qiu. “Did I scare you?”

Yi Qiu: “N-No…”

You Yan: “You’re very scared.”

Yi Qiu: “No, no, I’m just, just…”

You Yan: “You’re lying.”

You Yan’s gaze was too sharp. Yi Qiu swallowed hard, so scared she didn’t dare to speak again.

【You Yan Favorability -100】

Oh, come on! Gaining a hundred was not easy! Can’t we talk things out properly!

Yi Qiu let out a wail, crying aggrievedly, “I’ve never seen blood before! A person that big died right in front of me, am I not allowed to be scared!”

Hearing this, You Yan couldn’t help but take a deep breath.

Yi Qiu shrank back, subconsciously rubbing herself against the wall behind her as if trying to wipe off the bloodstains, only managing to get dirtier.

After a moment of silence, You Yan offered no defense, only saying coldly, “Even when hitting a dog, you must see who its master is. He deserved to die.”

“You, you…” Yi Qiu wanted to say something, but as the words reached her lips, she was struck by the realization that human nature had nothing to do with demons. If she spouted too much nonsense, she could very well lose her life.

Before the protagonist rises, the only way to survive for a long time is to keep in step with the villain.

Because of this, she suppressed the useless pity in her heart, took a deep breath, and said in a small, trembling voice, “B-But, when he kicked me, you… you were clearly watching the show from the side…”

“How was I to know he would strike so…” You Yan’s words paused there. A moment later, she said in a cold voice, “How was I to know you were so delicate!”

After You Yan spoke, she saw the little alpaca’s eyes suddenly redden, and for a moment, even her gaze softened.

She rubbed the back of Yi Qiu’s head, hesitating for a good while before finally saying, “Not next time.”

“Huh?” Yi Qiu raised her eyes, her gaze somewhat blank.

You Yan pinched her little ear and patiently clarified her words, “I won’t watch the show next time.”

At that moment, Yi Qiu stared blankly at the dust-free great villain before her, unable to stop replaying the incredibly gentle words from a second ago in her mind. For some reason, a strange thought surfaced in her heart.

Although the method was terrifying, this great villain… seems to really dote on her…

Yi Qiu was startled by this thought and quickly shook her head in self-denial.

Sugar-coated bullets7, they’re all sugar-coated bullets!

Yi Qiu, oh Yi Qiu! This is the most venomous character in the entire book!

If you don’t guard your heart today, you’ll be boiled in a pot tomorrow!

You can’t be like the male lead, that big pig’s trotter8, and be bewitched by this femme fatale’s beauty!
