Only Separated for Half a Day
“Hey, aren’t you going to take a shower?”
“A bit tired, I’ll rest for a while then go take a shower.”
In the evening, everyone returned to their dormitories to get a change of clothes and went to the bathhouse to bathe. Su Wenwen still remembered Luo Xi’s warning, not to be too intimate with others. Besides, she liked girls, so naturally, she was too embarrassed to bathe with everyone else and could only wait for the others to finish before going later.
The few girls looked very tired, yet they still chatted resiliently, introducing themselves to each other, and then complaining about Wang Kelin arranging such heavy training on the very first day. Their muscles were still sore even now.
But complaining was just complaining; they still knew what was important and didn’t say anything nasty. Afterward, someone said: “Let’s sleep soon. To save electricity, the base has a unified power cut for the camp at ten o’clock at night.”
Looking out the window, except for the faint light sources in the camp and the restricted area, it was pitch black everywhere, which made one feel a little more uneasy in their heart.
Around nine o’clock, Su Wenwen took her clothes and walked toward the bathhouse. The changing room outside the bathhouse had a heater, so one wouldn’t freeze and get sick when taking off clothes in the middle of a big winter.
She looked around and saw no strangers.
Su Wenwen then quickly undressed and entered the bathhouse to shower. Once the Yuba1 was turned on, scalding hot water flowed out in no time. Her skin was scalded red, yet it made one feel relaxed and comfortable.

However, the bathhouse was a bit large, and the hot air dispersed easily, so it still felt somewhat cold. Su Wenwen planned to just rinse off and be done with it. Just as she had washed the suds from her hair and opened her eyes, the corner of her eye seemed to glimpse a black shadow flash by. She immediately became alert and wrapped her arms around her chest.
“Who?”
Before she could react, Su Wenwen was held from behind. Her whole body stiffened, and only after smelling a familiar fragrance did she gradually relax and ask the person behind her: “How did you get in?”
The camp was a one-month closed training session, after which the training results would determine whether the training should continue. After all, it consumed a lot of manpower and resources. During the closed period, no one was allowed to enter the camp, including Luo Xi.
“I came in because I wanted to. They can’t stop me.” Luo Xi knew it was cold, so she wrapped the bath towel she had prepared beforehand around Su Wenwen, her fingertips sliding down along the water droplets on her cheek. “Did you miss me?”
Su Wenwen’s face turned red. She turned her head away, avoiding Luo Xi’s mischievous hand, and said: “We’ve only been separated for half a day, what is there to miss.”
Luo Xi paused for a moment, her tone unclear as she said: “That’s true. In the camp, there’s Wang Kelin, roommates, and so many teammates. It’s very normal not to think of me.”
“Don’t speak with that yin-yang strange air2, I…” Su Wenwen lowered her head and said in a voice as faint as a fly’s buzzing, “It’s not that I don’t miss you.”
“Hmm… how much do you miss me?” The corners of Luo Xi’s red lips curved into an extremely faint, almost imperceptible arc.
“Every moment, every breath.”
Su Wenwen had lived a conventional life since she was little, only rebelling once when facing Helian Yun. But even so, she never said sweet nothings. Yet, every time, she was pushed by Luo Xi to the point where she had no choice but to say a few words. Once spoken, even she herself felt shy, and both her ears burned red.
“Hmm, then I probably miss you a little more.” Luo Xi’s slender fingers tapped her own heart. “As long as this here doesn’t stop, the missing won’t stop.”
Su Wenwen covered her face. How had she never realized before that Luo Xi was actually a big show-off3 inside? She really couldn’t stand it and quickly said: “Do we have to talk like this?”
Luo Xi smiled, lowered her head to kiss Su Wenwen’s forehead, and then told her to go get dressed. After Su Wenwen changed her clothes, she complained to Luo Xi that Wang Kelin’s training for her was too gentle. If she had known, she would have trained with Luo Xi instead.
Su Wenwen felt a little regretful.
“I thought she could train me ruthlessly.”
Hearing this, Luo Xi’s eyes flickered, looking somewhat strange. It happened to be ten o’clock, the time for the power cut. The line of sight abruptly went dark. Su Wenwen didn’t notice Luo Xi’s strangeness and could only see the faint moonlight from a not-so-bright moon outside the window.
“You should go.”
“Mm, then you have to take good care of yourself. I’ll come again when I have time.”
When Su Wenwen saw Luo Xi jump directly out of the window, her heart almost stopped. She only breathed a sigh of relief after seeing her land lightly. In the blink of an eye, her figure disappeared into the shadows under the moonlight. The patrolling guards had no idea that someone had been there.
Back in the dormitory, everyone else was already asleep. Su Wenwen also took off her jacket and slipped into her quilt. However, she tossed and turned, and the quilt remained ice-cold, which made her feel a bit unaccustomed. After all, the night before last, she had slept with Luo Xi, in a warm, soft, jade-like embrace, filled with happiness and satisfaction/contentment.
Now, all alone, the quilt seemed impossible to warm up no matter how she tried to cover herself. She slept restlessly all night. Before the sky was even bright, Wang Kelin was downstairs shouting through a loudspeaker, telling everyone to assemble.
Su Wenwen quickly climbed out of bed and put on her training uniform.
The training uniform was specially made, waterproof and windproof, and very warm, but it still couldn’t stand up to such a snowy day. It seemed as if it would never stop snowing. The snow-white world, at first glance, was no different from the Ice Age, devoid of any life, only cold and desolation.
Today’s training was still focused on physical fitness. The male team members were at another training ground, and their voices could be heard cheering each other on. Some of the female members were not yet fully awake, their gazes unfocused. They only snapped to attention after a sharp reprimand from Wang Kelin.
Su Wenwen was full of vigor, running and jumping with the team, being the most hardworking and obedient. She was also first in the obstacle course, but her training points were still zero, with no change.
She was a bit puzzled. Was it still not enough?
For the sake of training points, Su Wenwen gave it her all. Even when the training met Wang Kelin’s requirements and everyone else had stopped to rest, she was still continuing to run, continuing to jump…
Wang Kelin was astonished, then said to the other team members: “Did you see that? In the future, you all must learn well from Classmate Wenwen. If you’re afraid of a little hardship today, tomorrow you might become food for zombies, understand?”
“Yes, Instructor!”
After hearing Wang Kelin’s words, the trainees who were about to die from exhaustion also stood up one by one and followed behind Su Wenwen to continue training, especially the obstacle course, which could train physical balance and agility. This was an item they needed to focus on training.
The training continued until noon. Many people collapsed on the ground. Medical personnel checked their bodies, which had muscle strains but no serious injuries. However, Wang Kelin still gave everyone the afternoon off to rest well.
The food for lunch was also extremely sumptuous. If converted into crystal cores, one meal would probably cost five crystal cores. Evidently, Ji Qingshuang had also spared no expense for this training.
Taking advantage of the mealtime, Su Wenwen found Wang Kelin and said: “I want to continue training this afternoon. Don’t hold back, you can be harsher with me.”
Wang Kelin, with her mouth full of rice, was choked by these words. She then gulped down a mouthful of water, coughed, and said: “I say, you don’t have to be so rolled up4, right? Can you leave a path for others to live?”
“It’s different.” Su Wenwen found it hard to explain and could only say, “Look at me, I don’t feel tired at all, my spirits are great, I can continue training. If you’re afraid I’ll ‘roll up’ others, just secretly open a small stove5 for me, as long as no one finds out.”
Wang Kelin sized her up. She did indeed see that Su Wenwen was in high spirits, but she still shook her head and said: “One step at a time, don’t be anxious.”
Hearing this, Su Wenwen couldn’t say much more. She couldn’t train by herself either, because training by herself yielded no training points. It was useless no matter how anxious she was.
In the dormitory, even after resting for an afternoon, everyone was complaining about their legs and arms hurting. Only Su Wenwen was like a person who was completely fine. Su Wenwen was also the only one who didn’t need the medicinal wine Wang Kelin brought for them.
Everyone admired Su Wenwen very much and immediately elected her as the Dormitory Head. Su Wenwen had black lines all over her head6. What the hell was a Dormitory Head?
“Haha, doesn’t the female team need to select a Little Team Leader? You can be the Dormitory Head for now, and when it’s time to select the team leader, we will all recommend you.”
“Don’t… no need…”
Su Wenwen just wanted to quietly improve her strength and didn’t want to be in the limelight. Insisting on training was a helpless move, but she didn’t expect it to attract everyone’s attention. Looking at these pairs of sparkling eyes, she was too embarrassed to keep a cold face.
In the end, she still became this Dormitory Head. When it was time to shower at night, they wanted to pull Su Wenwen to the bathroom with them, but Su Wenwen refused with various excuses.
After they left, Su Wenwen helplessly rubbed her temples7. She then looked at the heavy snow outside the window, which had been falling from day to night with no intention of stopping. The temperature also seemed to have dropped by several degrees because of it.
She touched her quilt. It was so cold.
After a while, they returned to the dormitory one after another after their showers. Taking advantage of the warmth from the shower that hadn’t completely dissipated, they quickly hid in their quilts, and as if by telepathy, they all shivered in unison.
Su Wenwen was no exception. After showering and wrapping herself in the quilt, there was no warmth at all. Instead, she felt colder and colder. This kind of weather was not suitable for showering every day, but one would sweat after training, and not showering was uncomfortable.
“I’m screwed, my Great Aunt8 is here,” one of them said with a gloomy face.
Getting her period during the training period would indeed have some impact. She quickly took a sanitary pad and ran to the bathroom to deal with it. When she came back, she was listless and looked drained of energy.
The training intensity was raised again the next morning, and the girl who got her period had to suspend her training. Her face was extremely pale, and she looked quite serious, so she could only be sent to the infirmary to rest.
The rest of the people continued to train.
After a whole day of hard work, the training points were still zero. Su Wenwen asked the system, and the system only replied to explore on her own. It was truly a headache.
Helpless, Su Wenwen could only find Wang Kelin at night to explain the reason. She needed high-intensity training to improve her ability. After listening, Wang Kelin compromised: “I can help you train, but if that person from your family comes looking for me to settle accounts, you have to help block her.”
Su Wenwen blinked: “So it was Luo Xi who specifically asked you to take extra care of me?”
“It wasn’t an ask, not a request, but a command, and with a very gloomy tone.” Wang Kelin looked at Su Wenwen and silently complained, See, isn’t that person secretly bad.
