I Pursued My Scummy Ex’s White Moonlight – Chapter 52

Falling into a Space

“You need to hide your ability well.” Luo Xi stood behind Su Wenwen, her body leaning slightly forward, pressing against her back as she whispered in her ear, “For now, don’t let the Adjutant find out.”

The soft contact on her back made Su Wenwen freeze instantly, all her attention focused behind her. Even as she tried her best to stop her mind from wandering, she couldn’t help but think that Luo Xi had a really nice figure. With a rush of blood to her head, she almost nodded foolishly in agreement.

“If I hide my strength, then who will protect you?” Su Wenwen tried to turn her head, but her cheek brushed against Luo Xi’s soft lips, and she immediately dared not move again.

Luo Xi’s gaze was deep and inscrutable. She looked up and spoke to Chen Zixuan, who was behind them, “I only said for now. I’m not yet sure which side the Adjutant is on, so it’s better that he doesn’t know some things.”

She then turned around again. “What do you think, Chen Zixuan?”

“I’m not sure about the Adjutant, but I will definitely stand with you two.” Chen Zixuan raised three fingers to the sky. “I can swear it. If I betray you, may I die a horrible death.”

Luo Xi smiled, but it didn’t reach her eyes. Her sharp gaze was like a scalpel, capable of dissecting Chen Zixuan to see if she was black or white on the inside. “I never listen to what people say, only what they do.”

Delight showed on Chen Zixuan’s face. “Understood.”

Chen Zixuan wasn’t stupid. Judging from the information in that brief exchange, the meaning was for Chen Zixuan to act as Luo Xi’s bodyguard in order to hide Su Wenwen’s ability. This was an acknowledgment of her joining them.

The people inside the gas station were still talking, but from the sound of it, a battle was on the brink of erupting. The bald man once again asked if the Adjutant was willing to cooperate, and upon being mercilessly refused, he flew into a rage from shame and anger.

Immediately after, a volley of gunshots rang out. Smoke billowed out, and the transparent glass of the convenience store seemed to have been coated with a layer of white paper. As it was shattered by bullets, the smoke continuously poured out, blurring the surroundings.

Seeing that Luo Xi had no intention of helping, Su Wenwen didn’t dare make a rash move either, lest she disrupt her plans.

A flash of electricity flickered in the mist. The commotion here attracted the attention of the convoy, but no one had any intention of getting out of their cars. The children in the minivan cried incessantly at the noise. Two ordinary people got out and walked over to check on the situation, but they were stopped by Helian Yun.

“You’ll only be in the way if you go over.” After saying this, Helian Yun no longer hesitated. “I’ll go check on the situation.”

Su Wenwen could clearly feel that the moment Luo Xi saw Helian Yun, the atmosphere grew much heavier. Standing in the middle, Chen Zixuan felt uncomfortable all over and unconsciously edged closer to Su Wenwen.

Su Wenwen, for her part, was being stared at by Helian Yun so intensely that she didn’t dare speak. She felt that something was strange, but she couldn’t put her finger on what it was.

Doesn’t Helian Yun like Luo Xi?

Why is she staring at me?

And Luo Xi, why is she staring at Helian Yun?

Fortunately, this situation didn’t last long. Su Wenwen saw a figure get thrown out, landing heavily on the ground. The person had just started to climb up when he discovered the ground was covered in water, and he was then knocked unconscious by a flowing electric current.

The Adjutant fought with wild abandon inside the convenience store. Figures were thrown out one after another, only to be electrocuted and knocked out, leaving only the bald man struggling to hold on.

The opponent was a strength-type ability user, but his techniques were inferior to the Adjutant’s. After a few rounds of fighting, he was covered in wounds. The store shelves were like brittle wafers, easily torn apart by the two of them as they aimed for each other’s vital spots, hitting and smashing.

Gradually, the bald man’s punches slowed down considerably. Just when it seemed the battle would end without any suspense, a sinister wind blew from nowhere. Before Su Wenwen could react, her arm was yanked, and her whole body tilted and fell. Helian Yun, who had been staring at Su Wenwen the whole time, was the first to react, quickly reaching out to grab her.

But she was, after all, only a healing-type ability user and didn’t have that much strength. Instead, she was pulled into the pitch-black abyss along with her.

By the time Su Wenwen came to her senses, she was surrounded by chaotic darkness. She reached out to feel around and took two steps forward, but when a person walks with their eyes closed, they can’t distinguish directions and lose their balance, stumbling about. What’s more, not only could she not see now, but even her five senses seemed to have failed. After just two steps, Su Wenwen couldn’t control her sense of balance, and her body went limp as she fell to the ground.

【Host has likely been pulled into a certain space by a spatial ability user. Helian Yun also jumped into the space. She is on your left.】

Su Wenwen hadn’t expected Helian Yun to jump into this space with her, which surprised her slightly. Thinking back on the past two days, Helian Yun hadn’t come to bother her over Luo Xi anymore. It didn’t feel like her usual behavior.

As she was pondering, the System informed her that Luo Xi’s blackening value had risen by five points, likely because she was angry that Su Wenwen had vanished into thin air.

She sighed. She had to get out of here quickly. She reached out to her left and felt around for a moment, and sure enough, she touched Helian Yun.

“Who is it?” Helian Yun’s voice sounded very frightened, lacking its usual calculating tone.

“It’s me.”

Just as Su Wenwen explained the current situation, the System’s danger warning suddenly went crazy in her mind. She subconsciously pulled Helian Yun and rolled to the side. A cold, sharp blade barely scraped past her ear, startling Su Wenwen into a cold sweat.

If it weren’t for the System’s warning, her head would probably be on the floor right now. Once she received a fatal blow, her health bar would be instantly depleted, giving her no chance to use any items.

She squinted her eyes but still couldn’t see anything. What could she do? The enemy could see her, but she couldn’t see the enemy. It was more frustrating than being a turtle trapped in a jar, completely helpless; she had no idea where to even begin to fight back.

“What’s going on?” Helian Yun asked nervously.

Before Su Wenwen could answer, the System’s prompt exploded in her ear again. She quickly gave Helian Yun a push. A sharp pain shot through her wrist as it was cut by a sharp blade. She had no time to worry about the wound; relying on her own agility, she spun around and gripped the cold blade tightly.

The knife-wielding assailant clearly hadn’t expected Su Wenwen to react so quickly. He froze for a second, then forcefully pulled the dagger back. The blade cut a deep gash across her palm, as if wanting to sever all five fingers.

Su Wenwen let out a muffled grunt of pain.

Hearing the sound, Helian Yun opened her mouth to ask, but was promptly shushed by Su Wenwen: “Don’t speak.” After saying that, she rolled to the side and quickly activated her five senses, but the dead silence of the surroundings was unnervingly strange.

If she guessed correctly, the spatial ability user had extremely sharp hearing and could determine their position through sound to attack.

Moreover, the range of this space should be limited. Thinking of this, Su Wenwen slowly stood up. Although she couldn’t see her surroundings, after activating her five senses, her body’s balance improved greatly.

Then, she deliberately said to Helian Yun, “Walk around and take a look. The area here probably isn’t too large.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Su Wenwen heard rapid breathing behind her. She whirled around and sent a flying kick backward. Su Wenwen had deliberately lightened the force of this kick, and it landed squarely on a soft abdomen. The man cried out in pain and fell to the ground, clutching his stomach and convulsing in pain, unable to move for a moment.

Su Wenwen followed the sound to the man’s side and stepped on his chest to prevent him from escaping the space alone.

“What was your purpose in ambushing us here?” Su Wenwen didn’t dare to use too much force with her foot, afraid that if she killed the man, she would be trapped here for the rest of her life.

The man babbled “yiyi yaya,” his voice hoarse as if he hadn’t spoken in a long time and had forgotten how.

“A mute?”

The man grunted again.

At this moment, Helian Yun groped her way over. She had probably understood the whole situation. Having just heard Su Wenwen’s muffled grunt, she was worried. She felt for Su Wenwen’s wrist and found it sticky with the smell of blood. She quickly said, “Let me heal you.”

“No need.”

Su Wenwen pulled her hand back. Helian Yun gave a bitter smile, clenching her empty palm, but ultimately said nothing.

Su Wenwen said to the man, “I won’t hurt you, but you have to let us out.”

The man patted Su Wenwen’s shoe, signaling for her to let him up. Su Wenwen had no choice but to release him, her attention fully focused on his every move.

After getting up, the man took two steps, raised his hands, and tore a rift in the empty air. Light suddenly rushed into the darkness. Su Wenwen, with her five senses activated, found it abnormally glaring and subconsciously closed her eyes.

As the man walked out, the rift began to slowly heal. Helian Yun was the first to react, quickly pulling Su Wenwen and charging forward. The moment before the rift disappeared, they successfully broke through the space and returned to where they were before.

Suddenly stepping on concrete ground felt strange for a moment, and the two of them fell down in a heap.

Su Wenwen deactivated her five senses and opened her eyes to see the bald man’s face, twisted in pain from his broken arms and legs. Even the tattoo on the back of his head didn’t look so imposing anymore.

【Beep: Blackening Value +5】

Why did the blackening value go up again?

Su Wenwen’s gaze searched for and found Luo Xi’s tall, slender figure. The beauty mark by the corner of her eye was stained with the word ‘fury’. Following that cold gaze downward, Su Wenwen saw her own hand being held tightly by Helian Yun. A panic seized her heart, and she quickly pulled her hand back, stood up, and walked toward Luo Xi, saying, “That mute is a spatial ability user. I was trapped in his space.”

“Look at my hand, it’s injur—”

Seeing Luo Xi’s lips pressed together without a word, Su Wenwen wanted to show her the injury on her hand, only to realize the wound had already been healed the moment Helian Yun had gripped it.

She held up her hand rather awkwardly, and just as she was wondering where to put it, Luo Xi’s slender fingertips gently hooked Su Wenwen’s fingers and said, “It’s good that you’re not hurt.”

Those few short words carried the utmost tenderness and care, but Luo Xi’s slightly cold fingertips were trembling faintly, showing that she was not calm inside. Su Wenwen then threaded her fingers through the gaps in hers, clasping their hands tightly together, slowly soothing her frightened heart.

The bald man died from the pain of his twisted limbs.

The mute was being held down on the ground, babbling “yiyi yaya.” No one knew what he was trying to say, so they ignored him and tied him up with a rope.

Su Wenwen saw that the mute’s eyes were blind; his eyeballs had already atrophied, and only the occasional glimpse of a rolling pupil could be seen. His throat had been burned, which was why he couldn’t speak. He looked quite pitiful.
