I Pursued My Scummy Ex’s White Moonlight – Chapter 51

Meeting Survivors

The Adjutant was surprised by how formidable Luo Xi’s mental power was. Although his body was pressed down to the point of being unable to move, he knew Luo Xi wouldn’t truly harm him; this was just a small warning for Su Wenwen’s sake.

He smiled. With so many people watching, as an Adjutant, he couldn’t afford to be suppressed in such a sorry state. A sharp glint flashed in his eyes as he mobilized the ability within his body. His already well-trained physique, now straining from the excessive force, seemed to bulge with muscle, his clothes stretched taut. Under the shocked gazes of the crowd, he slowly stood up.

He then pulled out the dagger from his waist and, under Luo Xi’s calm gaze, killed the zombie dog with a single stab. The blade remained embedded in the zombie dog’s head, the fluid leaking from it mixing with the sweat trickling down the Adjutant’s cheek. He looked up at Luo Xi, his gaze resembling that of a cruel executioner.

“The zombie dog is dead. You can retract your mental power now.” The Adjutant’s tone was calm, but he knelt on the ground and didn’t rise again until the pressure on his body vanished.

Luo Xi wasn’t surprised by the Adjutant’s capabilities. To have climbed to this position in such a short time during the apocalypse, he naturally had some ability. However, as the Adjutant walked to her side, he suddenly lowered his head and whispered, “Please rest assured, Miss Luo. I will not make things difficult for Su Wenwen before we return to the Sea Base. But while I may be easy to get past, that doesn’t mean that person from the Luo family will let this go so easily. That’s all I have to say. Miss Luo, you’d best look out for yourself.”

The person the Adjutant spoke of was, of course, the Luo family’s Old Master—stubborn and inflexible. If the Old Master hadn’t insisted on the childhood betrothal1, Luo Xi wouldn’t have been forced to resort to such a dirty trick, giving a villain the opportunity to get her father killed.

The thought of the scene at the banquet caused even the overly pensive Luo Xi to freeze in place, losing her composure as she watched the bustling, anxious crowd, so much so that she failed to notice anything unusual.

If it weren’t for this apocalypse, if it weren’t for Uncle Feng no longer having any worries holding him back, she probably would have died without ever knowing that someone had used her to kill her father.

“You’re bleeding so much. Get back in the car and stop the bleeding first.”

Seeing the bloodstain on Luo Xi’s shoulder soaking through her clothes, Su Wenwen, without another word, pulled her by her left hand toward the car, opened the door, and pushed her into the back seat before taking a medical kit out of her spatial backpack.

Luo Xi was wearing a short-sleeved shirt, making it inconvenient to raise her arm to take it off, so she could only roll up the sleeve. The gauze that had been wrapped around her shoulder was now loose, and Su Wenwen pulled it off with a gentle tug. Only a single piece of gauze, smeared with hemostatic and anti-inflammatory ointment, was stuck tightly to the wound and had to be carefully removed.

Luo Xi hadn’t lied to Su Wenwen. The wound on her shoulder had been beautifully sealed together by her mental power and was already scabbing over and slowly healing. Only a few minor splits in the wound were seeping blood.

Su Wenwen used a cotton swab to clean the blood from around the wound, so afraid of hurting her that her hands trembled slightly from the excessive care. The car was scorching hot under the sun. Sweat trickled down her forehead onto her long eyelashes, and with a flutter of her eyelids, it dripped into her eyes, causing some discomfort. But she only squinted slightly before continuing to lower her head and clean the wound.

Luo Xi’s gaze never left Su Wenwen. Seeing her sweating so much, she had intended to reach for some tissues, but she was met with a soft scolding: “Don’t move.” The voice was soft and sweet, like a playful complaint that made one’s heart itch.

The cotton swab occasionally dotted her skin, like a lover’s caress, constantly teasing until ripples appeared on the calm lake, causing a certain desire to reach an unprecedented intensity.

This feeling was a bit foreign to Luo Xi. In the past, she had been pure of heart and with few desires, only wanting to escape control, never thinking of being with anyone. But now, she wanted to make Su Wenwen a part of her, to merge completely as one, never to be separated.

“Wenwen…” Luo Xi’s eyes were slightly closed.

Hearing Luo Xi call her name, Su Wenwen thought she had hurt her and quickly looked up, only to meet a gaze full of tender affection. Before she could react, a soft warmth met her lips.

Her heart suddenly sped up. The scorching breath seemed to set the car on fire, making it impossible to draw in any air. The suffocation paralyzed her limbs, and she could only barely lift her head to receive the kiss.

Sweat continued to bead on her skin. The small droplets on her cheeks gathered into a large one that rolled down to the corner of her lips, only to be licked away by a tongue that then pried open her teeth and drove straight in, as they tasted the salty-sweet flavor of sweat together.

Concerned about Luo Xi’s wound, her remaining rationality allowed Su Wenwen to gently push against Luo Xi’s left shoulder, creating a little space between them. Her violently beating heart left Su Wenwen momentarily deprived of oxygen. She took several deep breaths before she could calm her agitated emotions.

“Stop moving. I’m dressing your wound for you.” She didn’t dare to look up; the temperature inside the car felt like it was about to burn her alive.

“Alright.” Luo Xi raised an eyebrow, joy spreading in her eyes.

【Beep: Blackening Value -5】

【Sigh, humans really are emotional animals. Being in love can brighten the mood; the blackening value is dropping really fast.】

Su Wenwen had almost forgotten the System’s existence. She felt as if she were being spied on, which made her blush. She quickly sped up the bandaging, wishing she could find a hole to hide in.

Seeing her so flustered, Luo Xi stopped teasing her. Once the wound was more or less bandaged, Su Wenwen got up and exited the car, walking over to the driver’s side. Just as she pulled open the door, she saw Chen Zixuan helping Helian Yun into the car in front. Only then did she remember that Helian Yun had been squarely punched by a zombie just now. However, Helian Yun was a healing-type ability user, so that punch probably hadn’t caused too much damage.

She didn’t think much of it and got into the car.

But at that moment, Helian Yun turned to look back at Su Wenwen. Through the car window, she could vaguely see her smiling face directed at Luo Xi. Her hands clenched into tight fists, suppressing the bitter taste spreading in her heart.

Chen Zixuan saw her with her head down, her long black hair obscuring her expression, and felt an inexplicable sense of oppression in the car. She really disliked it, so she got out and moved to another vehicle.

With the peaches to temporarily sate their hunger, the convoy’s pace slowed. However, they still needed to stock up on some gasoline. The Adjutant glanced at the map on his phone and ordered everyone to reach the nearest gas station before dark.

The nearest gas station was also at the foot of a mountain, backed by the mountain range. The location was remote, with few houses nearby, but the road was blocked by many abandoned vehicles. Someone was about to get out to push the blocking cars away but was stopped by the Adjutant. Everyone looked at the Adjutant, not understanding.

The Adjutant didn’t explain. Instead, he got out of the car, walked to the front of the nanny van, and knocked on the window. Luo Xi rolled down the window and said calmly, “Is there something?”

The Adjutant said, “It’s not me you should be wary of. This place is remote. Even with the apocalypse outbreak, there shouldn’t be so many cars blocking the road.”

“The Adjutant suspects someone deliberately moved the cars to block the road?”

The Adjutant nodded. “You’re injured. If you don’t have to move, don’t. I’ll take some people to check out the situation at the gas station ahead.”

After saying this, the Adjutant led three people toward the gas station. Luo Xi understood his meaning: he wanted her to act like an ordinary person, to not make a move rashly, and to feel out the other party’s strength.

As for the Adjutant’s safety, Luo Xi wasn’t worried at all. Rather, his choice of the three people he brought with him was very interesting. The three of them had disorderly footsteps, clearly feeling uneasy. Their abilities were, respectively, a fog that could confuse the enemy’s vision, a water-type, and an electric-type ability user.

If this combination cooperated well, they could catch the enemy off guard. If they didn’t, the Adjutant would clearly not hesitate to use the fog as cover to abandon the three and retreat first.

He really is an insidious person.

Luo Xi turned her head to look at Su Wenwen and saw her big, bright eyes staring intently ahead, like a little cat peeking from around a corner. It made one want to reach out and pinch her cheek. She smiled, “What did you see?”

“The Adjutant’s guess was right. There are quite a few survivors in the gas station. Some of them are holding guns and look fierce and menacing. I just don’t know what these people are planning, or if there are any ability users…” Su Wenwen turned her head away, rubbing her cheek as she spoke.

“Let’s go. We’ll go have a look too.”

“But the Adjutant told you to stay in the car,” Su Wenwen said, using the Adjutant as an excuse, afraid that Luo Xi’s wound would split open.

“Why should I listen to him?” Luo Xi’s smile was like a blossoming flower, her gaze on Su Wenwen as bright as starlight. “Besides, you’ll protect me, right?”

The moment Su Wenwen heard this, how could she possibly refuse? She nodded eagerly, puffing out her chest and promising, “Mhm, then you stay behind me.”

Sitting in the car, Chen Zixuan saw the two of them get out and knew this was a good opportunity for her to perform. She quickly got out of the car and followed behind them. Just as Luo Xi passed the car Helian Yun was in, her gaze flickered imperceptibly toward the inside of the vehicle.

Seeing this, Helian Yun subconsciously placed her hand on the door handle but hesitated for a moment. In the end, a sigh exploded in her heart. She failed to push the door open, watching as the three figures disappeared into the gas station.

A bitter smile lifted the corners of her mouth. Luo Xi’s gaze just now had carried a hint of mockery, which had caused her to lose her courage, utterly defeated.

Inside the gas station, several men holding weapons had already surrounded the Adjutant and his group. One of them, a bald man in a leather jacket, looked the most vicious. The back half of his head was occupied by a dragon-shaped tattoo, baring its fangs and brandishing its claws at the group.

Before the bald man and his group could speak, the Adjutant said calmly, “These are all controlled weapons. I wonder where you got them from?”

“From killing a few soldiers and snatching them from their hands, of course.” The bald man had a cigarette dangling from his mouth. He took a deep drag and slowly blew out rings of smoke. “If you know what’s good for you, tell your people that it’s safe here and have them come over.”

The Adjutant didn’t speak, his eyes glancing toward a corner behind the bald man. A group of men and women were huddled there, their hands and feet bound and their mouths stuffed with cloth, their eyes filled with terror.

“Didn’t you hear what I said?”

Su Wenwen and Luo Xi were hiding behind a corner. With their view obstructed, Su Wenwen could only rely on her hearing to judge the situation inside. Although she could hear that the other party’s tone was on the verge of rage, there was still no sign of them making a move. She didn’t know if it was because they were wary of the number of people under the Adjutant’s command or if they had other motives. But no matter what, that group was clearly not the good sort.
