I Pursued My Scummy Ex’s White Moonlight – Chapter 27

Discovered

The waist is always a sensitive area.

A light touch sent a tingling numbness straight to her heart. Su Wenwen shivered and was about to push the villain away, but the system vetoed the action.

【You cannot. The Host must not refuse any of the villain’s requests right now, including physical actions, or the mission will be considered a failure.】

Su Wenwen pursed her lips and turned her head away, left with no choice but to let the villain inspect the small of her back. The pads of the villain’s fingers were like a feather brushing past, and the waves of tingling numbness made her limbs feel weak. Fortunately, the inspection ended quickly. When the villain withdrew her hand, Su Wenwen hadn’t even snapped out of it yet.

Was she even enjoying it a little?

“Your body can really take a beating,” Luo Xi said.

Su Wenwen came back to her senses and gave a small smile without replying. After all, the more one says, the more mistakes one makes. It was better to say nothing and attribute all the inconsistencies to her little secrets.

“Look at that female zombie.”

Su Wenwen pointed to the naked female zombie on the ground. Her body was covered in blue and purple marks; some were hickeys, while others were from being beaten. Only her face was intact. The sole fatal wound was the gash on her chin that Su Wenwen had left with her knife. It was obvious the woman had suffered inhuman treatment before her death. She was either beaten to death or…

At that thought, Su Wenwen didn’t dare to think any further.

“Don’t you think she looks a bit familiar?”

Hearing the villain say this, Su Wenwen focused her gaze on the female zombie’s face again. She did look a little familiar, but she didn’t remember knowing this woman. “Who is she?”

“The bus. The female doctor from the hospital.”

With just those few words, Su Wenwen remembered. Back then, she had been preparing to drive the bus away from the hospital when an explosion occurred, after which a group of doctors and patients had escaped.

To think the female doctor would die such a miserable death. Su Wenwen couldn’t bear it. She had always been inclined to feel pity for other girls, so she went back to the car, grabbed a jacket to cover the corpse, then took out the male zombie’s crystal core and handed it to the villain.

The two of them got back in the car and drove away. As they passed the van, Su Wenwen deliberately glanced over. The scattered clothes inside were clearly mostly men’s. Judging by the amount of clothing and the few bloodstains, quite a few people must have escaped in the chaos.

They didn’t even take their supplies when they fled.

“This bunch of scumbags. If I ever run into them, I’ll beat them to a pulp,” Su Wenwen said, retracting her gaze, a heavy feeling in her heart.

“I thought you would have killed them.”

Killing zombies was one thing, but making her kill living people was still a hurdle she couldn’t cross. After all, the twenty-plus years of her education wouldn’t allow her to do such a thing. Su Wenwen looked out the car window and said, “Even if I killed them, they would just turn into zombies. It’s not worth it.”

“Has anyone ever told you that you’re a good girl?” Luo Xi’s sidelong glance only caught the back of Su Wenwen’s head. Although she couldn’t see her expression, it wasn’t hard to guess that she must be feeling conflicted.

Su Wenwen turned to look at her. “Yes, they have. Why?”

“Nothing. I just think you’re very cute.”

Hearing this, steam seemed to rise from Su Wenwen’s cheeks. She had indeed been very well-behaved in the past, her parents’ little treasure. It was only after she met Helian Yun that she became rebellious and disobedient.

The mere thought of Helian Yun soured Su Wenwen’s mood. The fear of being torn apart by zombies shrouded her heart, oppressive and suffocating, difficult to quell.

If only there was internet access right now. I’d love to take a few intimate photos with the villain and send them to her to piss her off and lift my spirits. But the more she thought about it, the more depressed she became. She simply grabbed the villain’s free right hand, took a picture with her phone, and saved it. The moment she got a signal, she would immediately send it to Helian Yun.

In the photo, the villain’s long, slender hand rested on the armrest, palm up. Su Wenwen’s hand was clasped over it, making it look like their fingers were intertwined, when in reality, they were just lightly resting between the gaps of her fingers.

It looks pretty good, but it feels like something is missing. If only there was a pair of couple’s rings, it would be more believable.

Whatever, I’ll just take a few more first.

Su Wenwen snapped three photos in a row. Just as she was about to take two more, the villain suddenly curled her five fingers, gripping her hand tightly. With a click, the photo was taken. By the time she realized what had happened, the villain had already pulled her hand back and was turning the steering wheel as if nothing had happened.

She stared blankly down at the photo she had just taken on her phone. It was a real, tight grip, so close they almost seemed to be melting into one another. Even without couple’s rings, any outsider would assume the two people in the photo were a couple.

Su Wenwen covered her face.

She couldn’t believe what she had just done. A moment ago, she was reluctant to exploit the villain’s feelings, yet in practice, she was using the villain quite smoothly.

Fortunately, the villain was a detached person and didn’t hold it against her.

“I’m hungry. Give me something to eat.”

Su Wenwen hooked her hand back, and after a moment of rummaging, she grabbed a box of self-heating hotpot. Without thinking much of it, she opened the lid, poured out the seasoning packets, and then added water to let it heat up.

Steam soon began whistling from the hole in the lid. After about ten minutes, it was ready. The moment she lifted the lid, a rich aroma filled the air, making Su Wenwen’s own stomach rumble.

“You should pull the car over and eat first!”

“Let’s save time. You can just feed me a little.”

“Ah!” Su Wenwen clutched the self-heating pot, feeling a bit lost. However, she couldn’t defy the villain’s command today, so she had no choice but to nod.

The spoon was plastic and a bit flimsy; a full spoonful of food would bend it. Su Wenwen tipped half of it off, blew on it lightly, and then brought it to the villain’s lips. Without even looking, the villain parted her lips slightly and ate the food.

【Beep: Blackening Value -4】

Su Wenwen smiled. Feeding her like this is actually a good way to pass the time. Should I take another picture to show Helian Yun how obedient the villain is now?

After a moment’s thought, she decided against it.

Such an obedient villain is for my eyes only.

The sweltering afternoon passed quickly.

After the sun set, the temperature dropped slightly.

The villain pulled the car over to the side of the road and rubbed her shoulders. It was clear she was exhausted from driving all day. Seeing her so tired, Su Wenwen couldn’t help but say, “I’ll drive tomorrow. You can just give me directions.”

“No. We’re resting there tonight.”

The villain pointed toward the woods, where a small signal tower stood. The light at its sharp peak was flashing, indicating it had power and was functioning normally.

Su Wenwen took out her phone and saw that there was a signal in this area. Without a second thought, she sent the photo she had just taken to Helian Yun. Above the photo were messages from Helian Yun.

Most of them were trying to get information out of Su Wenwen, wanting to know her location. The last message said that Helian Yun had no more food and asked if Su Wenwen was really so heartless as to ignore whether she lived or died.

Su Wenwen turned off her phone with a heavy heart.

She didn’t feel the joy she had expected from getting revenge on Helian Yun. It was completely different from what she had imagined. She was starting to not understand what she really wanted anymore.

Luo Xi glanced at her, her eyelids lowered as she remained silent. She grabbed some supplies and got out of the car. Seeing Su Wenwen still spacing out inside, she sighed helplessly. “If you don’t get out now, aren’t you afraid of losing me?”

Su Wenwen grabbed her spatial backpack, and the moment she got out of the car, she put on a smiling face. “I have a dog’s nose, I won’t lose you.”

“Yes, little dog, keep up.”

“I’m not a dog, you’re the dog…”

Although the two joked around on their way, they remained constantly vigilant of their surroundings. The light in the woods was poor, and the beam from their flashlight spread from near to far. The area further out was a pitch-black mass. There was a patch of dirt that had been packed flat and was clear of grass, indicating that villagers often walked this path.

“There are wheel tracks.”

“Turn off the light,” Luo Xi said.

Once the flashlight was off, the two could only rely on the natural brightness of the moon and the flashing light from the tower to judge their position.

A few hundred meters from the tower, there was a small village of less than a hundred people. Houses were built here and there in the woods. The exterior walls were cracked, looking quite old. The better-off families had built chicken coops next to their houses, but the coops were now empty.

Of the dozen or so households, only one had its lights on. Several vans were parked outside, and someone was on night watch, their flashlight beam occasionally illuminating a patch of the darkness. Su Wenwen and the villain hid in the bushes, observing.

In the silent night, they could hear the cheerful laughter of men coming from the house. It seemed the panic brought by the apocalypse hadn’t affected them at all; on the contrary, they were enjoying themselves.

“Aren’t these people afraid of attracting zombies?”

“They must have something to rely on.”

“Are you saying… there’s an ability user among them?”

Although ability users were rare, they weren’t unheard of. Seeing that there were quite a few of them, Su Wenwen asked the villain, “So what are we going to do now?”

“Just wait.”

Su Wenwen didn’t understand what the villain meant. Why wait? These people didn’t seem like the friendly type; shouldn’t they stay far away?

She wanted to ask the villain, but the villain raised a hand, signaling for her to be quiet. There was a rustling sound from behind them. Su Wenwen instantly became alert. Just as she turned around, a cold dagger was pressed against her throat.

“Yo, fresh prey has arrived.”

Three men stood before Su Wenwen. Their eyes seemed to glow a ghostly green, making one’s blood run cold.

She and the villain obediently raised their hands. They were led into the house, where more than a dozen men were gathered in the living room. One of them couldn’t help but stare when he saw Su Wenwen.

“Hey, you’re the… girl from the bus?” The man didn’t know Su Wenwen’s name, so he could only call her “girl.”

Su Wenwen nodded.

Seeing this, the man quickly smiled and greeted the three men behind them, saying, “Brothers, I know these two. Can you cut me some slack and let them go?”

The man holding the dagger walked over with a smile and lightly patted his cheek with the flat of the blade, saying disrespectfully, “Who the hell do you think you are that I should cut you some slack?”

“Put away your pity and be obedient. You’ll get your share of the benefits later. If you’re not, we’ll feed you to the zombies.” After saying this, the man put away his dagger and went to knock on a door.

His previously disdainful expression instantly became respectful.

Su Wenwen and the villain exchanged a glance.

It seemed the person inside was the ability user.
