I Pursued My Scummy Ex’s White Moonlight – Chapter 119

The building was in a remote location, surrounded by woods and gardens, creating a pleasant environment. Su Wenwen looked around and felt that the place seemed somewhat familiar.

The butler’s family had lived here before, but after the butler died, his family was taken in by Old Master Luo, and this place was left empty.

The three of them cautiously approached the entrance. The main door was wide open. Sisi was tied to a chair in the living room. The little one sat there quietly, not crying or making a fuss, only shedding silent tears when she saw Su Wenwen’s figure.

She was only wearing a thick set of pajamas, and her small face and lips were purple from the cold. She looked utterly pitiful.

Behind Sisi stood two middle-aged people, a man and a woman. Their expressions were grim, and their eyes held a murderous glint; they clearly weren’t devout men and faithful women1.

The Chinese teacher’s chest was covered in blood. He was already dead and had turned into a zombie. A chain was fastened around his neck, and the other end was held in the man’s hand. He was as docile as a dog, only roaring at Su Wenwen and the others.

“I’ve been waiting for you for a long time, Su Wenwen.” The man’s voice was hoarse, like a demon that had crawled out of purgatory.

Su Wenwen said calmly, “You know me?”

“You killed my son, of course I know you!” the man sneered. “My son was Tang Yue. He died at your hands, his corpse and bones nowhere to be found.”

So the man and woman were Tang Yue’s parents, seeking revenge for their son. No wonder they looked at Su Wenwen with such dark gazes, wishing they could tear her to shreds.

“If you want to kill me, I can stand still and let you do it. But the child is innocent; you have to let her go.”

This hatred from the killing of a relative was one of not sharing the same sky2, so there was naturally nothing to discuss. But with Sisi in their hands, Su Wenwen could only talk to them while secretly signaling Wang Kelin and Chen Zixuan with her eyes to find an opportunity to rescue the child.

“You’re that selfless? Willing to sacrifice yourself for someone else’s life?” the woman sneered. “Somehow, I don’t believe you.”

“Then what do you want?”

The woman threw a dagger in front of Su Wenwen and said with a smile, “Simple. Sever your own hand and foot tendons.”

Before Su Wenwen could even pick up the dagger, Sisi cried out, “No, no! Wenwen-jiejie, Sisi isn’t afraid of them!”

Su Wenwen smiled gently at Sisi and said, “Sisi, you have to trust your sister. It’ll be okay.”

Sisi shook her head, crying. Although she was young, she understood many things. If a person’s tendons were severed, wouldn’t they be crippled? Her Wenwen-jiejie was so good to her, raising and protecting her, better than her own parents. Sisi didn’t want anyone to hurt her Wenwen-jiejie.

The moment she saw Su Wenwen pick up the dagger, a force seemed to burst from within her body, transforming into a sky-shaking, terrifying wave3 that instantly engulfed the entire living room. Yet, when the wave reached the doorway, it didn’t flow out, as if it had received a command, swallowing only the people and objects inside the living room.

The husband and wife floated in the water. No matter how they swam, they remained in their original positions. Even when the man pulled on the chain in his hand, he didn’t move an inch. As the air was squeezed from their abdomens, they both began to convulse.

Su Wenwen and the others, in contrast, were like fish able to breathe freely in the water, completely unaffected.

Chen Zixuan quickly swam to Sisi’s side, untied the ropes, and pulled the girl behind her for protection. Seeing that the couple’s convulsions were becoming weaker, she quickly made a hand gesture to Sisi, telling her not to let them die, or they would turn into zombies.

Sisi tilted her head, clearly not understanding what she meant. Chen Zixuan then pushed Sisi toward Wang Kelin and swam toward the couple with her dagger.

They stopped convulsing. Their skin turned a cold white, and against the backdrop of the flowing water, their faces looked somewhat distorted. Floating silently in mid-air, they presented a strange and terrifying sight, as if they were about to reanimate4.

Just as Chen Zixuan got close, a chill rose in her heart. Immediately after, she saw the corpses’ eyes snap open, their pupils turning blood-red, as horrifying as the zombies from a movie.

A low roar actually caused the water to fluctuate. Like a thin needle piercing a water balloon, the water suddenly cascaded out of the doorway with a great splash. The force of the water pressure pushed everyone out the door.

Wang Kelin protected Sisi, using her own back to hit the snow-covered ground. Sisi, having overused her ability, had passed out, her face growing even paler.

Seeing this, Su Wenwen said, “You two take Sisi back first. I’ll handle things here.”

“But…”

“No buts. I can handle a few zombies. Sisi was just in the water, and she’s so young. If she stays out in the cold any longer, she’ll get sick.”

“Alright, be careful then.”

Chen Zixuan flew high into the air with Wang Kelin and Sisi. The three zombies roared at the sky before finally fixing their gazes on Su Wenwen.

Su Wenwen sliced open her palm with the dagger. Seeing that she had drawn the zombies’ attention, she was still in the mood to say, “Good boys. Come to me.”

Su Wenwen hadn’t brought her spatial backpack, so she didn’t have her iron awl. The only weapon she had was the dagger in her hand. Fortunately, the three zombies were all humanoid, and the dagger’s length was sufficient to deal with them.

Su Wenwen took the initiative, leaping toward the zombie with the chain locked around its neck. This zombie was clearly weaker and had slow reactions. By the time Su Wenwen picked up the chain from the ground, it had only just managed to turn around.

Next, the entire chain turned crimson. The iron lock on its neck also became an excellent weapon. The zombie’s neck was seared, emitting a thick plume of smoke, and the surrounding muscles and skin were quickly scorched. Its clothes caught fire, and with just a light pull from Su Wenwen, the zombie’s head was severed.

Only the husband and wife remained.

The man possessed great explosive power, and his roars were deafening. The woman was clearly an ability user, and her ability became much stronger after death. She encased her body in crystals, the same ability as Tang Yue.

Su Wenwen wrapped the chain around her hand and then attacked them. The searing chain was intensely hot, and every time it struck the crystals, it would shatter a large patch. However, new crystals would quickly grow to fill the cracks.

For the moment, Su Wenwen couldn’t take down the female zombie, so she turned to attack the other one. The male zombie’s defenses were clearly weaker. When the chain struck his face, it left a deep indentation. The second strike cooked the flesh on his face, and on the third strike, the flesh peeled off in a single piece.

It was just like overcooked chicken; a light pinch with chopsticks could pull the skin and meat right off. Finally, Su Wenwen locked the chain around the male zombie’s neck and strangled him tightly. In a short while, the male zombie’s entire head was seared clean off.

At that moment, the female zombie lunged and bit at Su Wenwen from behind. Su Wenwen quickly swung the chain in her hand, using its momentum to strike the crystals with a heavy blow. With a “bang,” the zombie was sent flying over ten meters away.

The chain also broke at this moment. Su Wenwen wrapped the broken section around her other hand. Before the zombie could get back up, she leaped over, stomped one foot firmly on its chest, and rained a series of punches down on the same spot on its forehead.

Under the continuous assault, the crystals shattered again and again, their growth speed clearly unable to keep up with Su Wenwen’s destruction.

Perhaps sensing Su Wenwen’s power, the female zombie suddenly executed a carp’s leap, flinging Su Wenwen off. It then turned and pounced on its dead husband, opened its mouth impossibly wide—tearing the flesh at the corners of its cheeks—and shot out its long tongue, rolling its husband’s head into its abdomen.

Mutual devouring… it was becoming a Zombie King.

After devouring the zombie, its body grew noticeably taller, and the hardness of its crystals also increased accordingly. When Su Wenwen struck the crystals now, she could clearly feel it was more difficult than before, and the impact numbed her wrist.

“Roar!”

The female zombie threw a punch at Su Wenwen’s head. Su Wenwen dodged to the side, and the fist slammed into a tree trunk. The trunk, as thick as a person, cracked, and evergreen leaves scattered everywhere.

Su Wenwen fought as she retreated, a sense of urgency growing in her heart. The female zombie’s crystal regeneration speed had also increased; a crack would barely form before it was sealed up again.

Her iron awl wasn’t with her, the dagger wasn’t hard enough, and the chain had already been beaten out of shape. Just as the situation reached a stalemate, Su Wenwen heard footsteps behind her. She couldn’t help but glance back and saw many familiar faces.

“Captain Su, we’re here to help!”

The team members, holding pulse pistols, fired continuously at the female zombie. The zombie was beaten back steadily, its crystal armor covered in cracks. Its repair speed couldn’t possibly keep up with the ten-shot bursts from the pulse pistols.

Su Wenwen was surrounded by the group. Looking at their backs, she felt a warmth flow through her heart as scenes of them fighting side-by-side flashed before her eyes. Unconsciously, they had already developed an incredible synergy.

After the front row fired their ten rounds, the team members in the back row immediately continued the barrage, hammering the zombie so relentlessly it had no chance to fight back.

“Captain Su, your weapon.”

Three team members, panting, ran up to Su Wenwen carrying the iron awl. Su Wenwen took a deep breath and accepted it.

In her hands, the iron awl was as light as a feather, spinning freely in her palm. The moment she gripped it tightly, all her strength converged into her arm. She threw it like a streak of light, piercing straight through the zombie’s head in a single strike. Even the hard crystals couldn’t defend against it.

The zombie lay limply on the ground, fluid trickling down the iron awl. With no time to deal with the corpse, Su Wenwen left it to her team members and rushed back to the laboratory, calling Wang Kelin and Chen Zixuan on the way to tell them she was safe.

Sisi was fine, too. After a hot bath, her cheeks became rosy again.

“Don’t let your guard down. Take turns watching Sisi. I’m going back to the lab to check on the situation.”

When Su Wenwen arrived, the battle was already over. The laboratory was a wreck, and all the machines inside had been destroyed.

The people sent to assassinate Lin Wan had been executed. Bodies were strewn everywhere. Luo Xi stood among the guards cleaning up the scene. Lying at Luo Xi’s feet was Shen Ming, his lips blue, looking very much like one of the corpses.

Lin Wan lay beside Shen Ming, her disheveled hair covering her face. Her cold-proof suit was covered in bloodstains, and her wrist was clutched tightly in Shen Ming’s hand.

Su Wenwen looked at the two on the ground and said nothing. She turned to the silent Luo Xi, took her cold hand, and began to knead it rhythmically, as if transmitting a special code that only the two of them could decipher.
