Driving Her Car
The relationship between them is indeed not good
Shen Man woke up early and made breakfast.
She brought the breakfast to the table, went to Lin Shu’s door, knocked, and said, “Shushu, it’s ready.”
There was no answer from inside.
Shen Man knew Lin Shu had heard her and turned to go to the kitchen to get the tableware.
Lin Shu came out of her room.
She was wearing a light green long dress and had exquisite makeup on. From a distance, she looked like a beautiful elf from the forest.
A flash of amazement crossed Shen Man’s eyes.
Lin Shu had a slender figure, outstanding looks, and fair, translucent skin. No matter what color clothes she wore, she was stunning.
Standing in a crowd, she was the center of attention.
“Why is it this stuff again?” Lin Shu sat down, complaining with a frown.
“I woke up a little late today. I’ll make something different tomorrow,” Shen Man explained softly, placing the bowl and chopsticks in front of Lin Shu.
Lin Shu pouted and reluctantly picked up her chopsticks.
Shen Man sat down and started to eat.
The two finished their breakfast.
Lin Shu picked up a napkin and elegantly wiped her mouth.
She raised her eyes, stared at Shen Man, and said in a commanding tone, “My car is broken. I’ll be driving your car for the next two days.”
Shen Man was about to speak, but when she met Lin Shu’s cold gaze, she swallowed the words on the tip of her tongue.
She went along with it and said, “Okay, I’ll go get the car keys for you.”
After speaking, she got up, went back to her room to get the keys, and placed them in front of Lin Shu.
Lin Shu took the keys and stood up with a haughty expression.
Shen Man followed behind her. Watching Lin Shu change her shoes, she tried to negotiate, “Shushu, how about I drive you to the company?”
“I can drive myself. No need for you to be nosy,” Lin Shu rejected her without a shred of mercy.
She slammed the door with a ‘bang’ and left dashingly.
Shen Man thought for a moment, then returned to the living room.
She picked up her phone and called Wen Lan. “Come pick me up.”
After she spoke, she gave the address.
Hearing this, Wen Lan was extremely surprised and asked in a low voice, “President Shen, did you stay at a friend’s house last night?”
“No need for questions. Wait for me downstairs,” Shen Man said, her tone low.
“Yes, President Shen.” Wen Lan reined in her curiosity and drove toward the address Shen Man had given.
Shen Man cleaned up the bowl and chopsticks and sat on the sofa to wait.
Estimating that it was about time, she went downstairs.
Just as she reached the entrance of the building, she saw Wen Lan’s car pull up.
Wen Lan hurriedly got out of the car and opened the back door.
Shen Man got in the car. Seeing the curiosity in Wen Lan’s eyes, she asked with a smile, “You seem to have something you want to say to me?”
“President Shen…” Wen Lan lowered her eyes, looking like she wanted to speak but didn’t dare.
“Speak,” Shen Man said faintly.
Having received permission, Wen Lan closed the car door.
She sat in the driver’s seat and said in a low voice, “President Shen, I saw your car on my way here.”
“The person driving… seemed to be Miss Lin.” This sentence was spoken very softly.
Shen Man mentally traced Wen Lan’s route here and Lin Shu’s route to the company and roughly understood where the two had crossed paths.
She gave a light smile, her gaze sharp as she looked at Wen Lan. “Are you sure the person you saw was Miss Lin?”
Wen Lan was stunned for a moment, then reacted quickly, lowering her head and saying, “I probably saw flowers with my eyes1.”
“Let’s go to the company, or we’ll be late.” Shen Man smiled with satisfaction and softened her tone.
Wen Lan started the car.
Through the rearview mirror, she carefully observed Shen Man’s expression.
Shen Man knew about the curiosity in Wen Lan’s heart, and she also knew Wen Lan wouldn’t gossip.
She smiled and said in a calm voice, “The rumor circulating outside right now is that Miss Lin and I don’t get along.”
Wen Lan nodded, waiting solemnly for what was next.
“They’re not wrong. The relationship between Miss Lin and me is indeed very poor,” Shen Man said with a smile, her posture relaxed and unrestrained.
Wen Lan didn’t understand the meaning in her eyes.
Seeing that Shen Man was in a good mood, she boldly asked, “Why did President Shen spend the night here?”
“Focus on driving,” Shen Man said.
A chill went through Wen Lan’s heart. She stared straight ahead and said no more.
After arriving at the company, Shen Man convened a morning meeting with everyone at the manager level and above.
After summarizing recent work, she adjourned the meeting.
Coming out of the conference room, Shen Man saw Tian Meiying standing outside.
She shot Wen Lan a look.
Wen Lan immediately walked over, blocked Tian Meiying, and said with a serious expression, “Assistant Tian, I’ll arrange today’s work for you.”
Tian Meiying tilted her head, bit her lip, and looked at Shen Man with a wronged expression.
Shen Man walked past her without a sideways glance.
Back in the president’s office, Shen Man began to handle the morning’s work.
Wen Lan came in and handed over a stack of documents. “President Shen, these are the documents that need to be signed today.”
“Mm, put them aside,” Shen Man said, stopping the work at hand.
She looked up at Wen Lan and asked in a deep voice, “How has Assistant Tian’s learning been recently?”
“Assistant Tian is now familiar with the company and the responsibilities of her position,” Wen Lan said, her words devoid of any personal emotion. “She’s relatively smart, one point and it’s transparent2, but she gets distracted easily at work and makes some small mistakes that shouldn’t be made.”
Hearing this, Shen Man understood and commented, “No major mistakes, but a constant stream of minor problems.”
“Yes.” Wen Lan nodded and looked at Shen Man with some difficulty. “Assistant Tian has her own ideas and is sometimes unwilling to follow the company’s arrangements.”
“Diligently record all of her behavior. In three months, I will evaluate her work based on the actual situation,” Shen Man said.
“Yes, President Shen.” Wen Lan secretly breathed a sigh of relief, the pressure in her heart lessening considerably.
Tian Meiying, relying on her relationship with Director Tian, was usually a bit spoiled and willful. Although it hadn’t reached the point of relying on power to bully people3, it was already affecting her work.
She was just a secretary; saying too much would only displease Director Tian.
The only person in the company qualified and capable of speaking up was Shen Man.
Now that Shen Man had shouldered this responsibility, it greatly reduced the difficulty of her own work.
After finishing the morning’s work, Wen Lan brought over lunch.
Shen Man ate her lunch slowly, freeing up a hand to message Lin Shu. “Shushu, have you arranged for your car to be repaired?”
“Mm.” Lin Shu replied with a single word, appearing very cold.
“Did they find out the reason?” Shen Man asked.
“It can be confirmed that it was man-made.” Lin Shu typed with an icy gaze, the corner of her lip curling in disdain. “They only know these disgraceful methods.”
“Can you check the surveillance footage?” Shen Man asked calmly.
“Do you even need to ask? I pulled yesterday’s surveillance footage as soon as I got to work. I could only see a blurry figure, can’t confirm who it is.” Lin Shu typed angrily. “If I find out who it is, I definitely won’t let him go.”
“Then you need to be more careful. Don’t give those people an opportunity to take advantage,” Shen Man urged.
“I know.” Lin Shu typed quickly. After saying it, she felt much better.
She couldn’t help but curl the corners of her lips, but quickly pressed them down again.
Pressing her lips together, she stared at the screen with an unhappy expression. “I drove this car over today, and someone laughed at me for buying a second-hand car, and a cheap one at that.”
Seeing this, Shen Man could almost imagine the scene of Lin Shu typing while annoyed.
The car she bought was a runabout. It had a certain class, but compared to Lin Shu’s car, it was far inferior.
She typed with a smile, “Director Lin has been wronged.”
“If my car wasn’t broken, I wouldn’t be driving your car,” Lin Shu said haughtily.
“Let me drive you to work tomorrow,” Shen Man said, seizing the opportunity. “I’ll drop you off nearby and leave, I guarantee no one from the company will see.”
“You mean I still have to walk to the company?” Lin Shu pouted, her eyes full of displeasure. “I might as well drive myself.”
“I don’t want you to drive me!” she sent, one word at a time.
“Okay, you drive my car,” Shen Man conceded, her tone doting.
Only then was Lin Shu satisfied. Her fair, delicate fingertips hesitated on the screen for a moment before tapping out a line of text, “How did you get to the company this morning?”
“I had my secretary come pick me up,” Shen Man replied.
“Then doesn’t your secretary know that President Shen is now ‘living under another’s roof’4?” Lin Shu asked, her heart involuntarily tensing up.
Shen Man understood the meaning behind her words and said calmly, “She doesn’t know anything.”
Seeing this line, the bit of anticipation in Lin Shu’s heart immediately turned to anger. She typed with a puffed-up face, “President Shen really has her ways.”
Shen Man saw the sarcasm in her words, smiled, and changed the subject. “What do you want to eat tonight?”
“Whatever!” Lin Shu typed forcefully, then put her phone aside.
Shen Man thought for a moment and said, “I’ll make a few home-style dishes tonight. It’s been getting hot recently, so I’ll also make some mung bean soup.”
Hearing the message notification, Lin Shu couldn’t resist picking up her phone.
Seeing that Shen Man had typed a whole bunch, she didn’t reply with a single word.
“Chatting with Shushu, the lunch hour passed without me realizing,” Shen Man typed with a smile. “After I finish this afternoon’s work, I’ll get off on time.”
“Are you working overtime today?”
“I work overtime if I want to, and I don’t if I don’t want to.” Lin Shu huffed, looking smug. Pouting her red lips, she typed, “It’s all your fault for wasting my lunch break.”
She sent it, a faint smile playing between her brows and eyes.
“It was my fault, I shouldn’t have chatted with you for so long,” Shen Man said in a gentle tone. “No more talking, I have to start working now.”
Lin Shu stared at this sentence and pouted in dissatisfaction.
She stared at their chat history and warned herself in her heart.
The next time Shen Man messages me, I absolutely cannot get carried away chatting.
I can chat for five minutes at most. I absolutely cannot spend the entire lunch break on Shen Man.
Lin Shu took a long, deep breath, composed herself, and started her afternoon work.
Her phone suddenly chimed with a message notification. She hurriedly picked it up to check.
It wasn’t a message from Shen Man.
A trace of disappointment uncontrollably flitted through Lin Shu’s heart.
She opened the message, a hint of a smile appearing on her face.
“Baby, I’m coming back to the country to visit for a few days. I’ll arrive tomorrow at noon. You have to come pick me up, love you~” A blowing-a-kiss emoji was attached at the end.
“Okay,” Lin Shu typed with a smile.
