Secretly Jealous
You’re Not Allowed to Mess Around with Other Women
Shen Man seemed to sense something.
She turned back with a smile, just in time to meet a pair of pitch-black, cold, and arrogant eyes.
Lin Shu was startled and quickly turned her head away.
She raised her wine glass, pretending to be focused on drinking.
Shen Man turned her head back and chatted with the person beside her.
“President Shen, the shade of your lipstick today is really beautiful,” a woman said with a smile.
Shen Man tilted her head slightly.
Her upper body leaned over a certain distance, her figure overlapping with the woman’s.
From Lin Shu’s perspective, the two were practically speaking face-to-face, looking extremely intimate.
She watched for a moment, unable to suppress the anger in her heart, and stood up to walk toward Shen Man.
Hearing the familiar footsteps drawing closer, the smile on Shen Man’s face grew even more brilliant.
The woman covered her lips and chuckled lightly, her face slightly flushed.
A voice laced with coldness suddenly sounded from the side.
“President Shen, trouble you to pour me a glass of wine,” Lin Shu said coldly, her eyes fixed on the woman.
The woman was taken aback, and when she came to her senses, she quickly and respectfully greeted her, “Hello, Miss Lin.”
Lin Shu gave the woman an arrogant glance, then glared at Shen Man and said in a deep voice, “President Shen, what are you still standing there dazed for?”
Shen Man smiled and turned to get the wine.
The woman, feeling Lin Shu’s hostile gaze, hastily found an excuse and left.
When Shen Man returned with the wine, she didn’t see the woman.
She handed the wine over and asked in confusion, “Miss Lin, where is Manager He?”
Hearing this, Lin Shu’s brows knitted in annoyance, and her eyes turned gloomy.
She gritted her teeth, paused, and then said with a sneer, “My apologies for disturbing President Shen’s fine mood.”
Shen Man smiled, indirectly admitting to it.
Lin Shu’s fingers gripped the glass tightly, a fierce impulse in her heart to splash the wine onto that smiling face.
She bit her teeth and suppressed the rage in her heart.
“Miss Lin, is there anything else?” Shen Man asked with a smile.
Her words were distant and polite, as if the two were merely strangers.
Lin Shu snorted coldly and turned to sit back in her original seat.
As soon as she left, several people immediately gathered around Shen Man, including the aforementioned Manager He.
“President Shen, I just heard someone say you and Miss Lin were university classmates,” Manager He said in surprise.
She glanced in Lin Shu’s direction, lowered her voice, and continued, “Was Miss Lin deliberately making things difficult for you just now?”
“Was she?” Shen Man chuckled lightly, her expression indifferent, a look of pure innocence in her eyes. “During university, Miss Lin and I had a pretty good relationship.”
Manager He didn’t believe her and leaned closer to say, “President Shen, Miss Lin is famous for having a bad temper.”
Shen Man smiled and said nothing.
Lin Shu sat with her legs crossed, her eyes fixed on the scene not far away.
Seeing Shen Man standing intimately with that woman again, she resentfully put down her wine glass, took out her phone, and dialed a number.
Shen Man’s phone rang, interrupting the conversation.
She looked down, saw it was a call from Lin Shu, and walked to the side.
Just as she was about to answer, the ringing stopped.
Shen Man turned her head and looked in Lin Shu’s direction.
Lin Shu arrogantly lifted her small face, her gaze meeting Shen Man’s coldly.
Shen Man let out a soft laugh, lowered her head, and typed a message, “Miss Lin, we are not close. Calling me like this could easily cause a misunderstanding.”
When Lin Shu saw the message, her chest tightened.
She glared at Shen Man in annoyance, her fingers nimbly tapping on the phone, making ‘da da’ sounds.
“I’ll call if I want to call, it’s none of your business! As for President Shen, you’re like a flowery peacock attracting bees and luring butterflies1. People who don’t know better might think this is a mixer.”
“At a charity gala, don’t you know to be mindful of your own status?” After typing, she forcefully pressed send.
Shen Man looked at the anger and jealousy between the lines and her mood became cheerful.
She smiled and typed, “Many thanks for Miss Lin’s reminder.”
The charity gala officially began.
After the host finished their speech, they raised their voice and said excitedly, “Next, let’s welcome the representative of the Lin Group, Miss Lin.”
Neat and enthusiastic applause echoed through the venue.
Under the gazes of the crowd, Lin Shu elegantly walked onto the stage.
Shen Man sat below.
She watched as a proper smile appeared on Lin Shu’s small face, who stood on stage speaking eloquently with calm and composure.
Dressed in a long white gown, she was noble and elegant, showing no trace of her earlier willfulness.
After Lin Shu finished speaking, her gaze swept across the room, finally landing on Shen Man.
She faintly curved her lips, her eyes revealing an immense arrogance.
Shen Man let out a soft laugh in response.
Lin Shu walked off the stage.
The host went up and continued to control the stage, keeping the atmosphere lively throughout.
After the donation event ended, the host arranged for everyone to take a group photo.
Lin Shu stood right in the center, her fair and translucent skin exceptionally conspicuous in the crowd.
Shen Man stood in a position off to the left.
People beside her were constantly shifting positions. Unconsciously, she ended up standing next to Lin Shu and accidentally stepped on her dress.
Lin Shu frowned in displeasure.
Her eyes stared coldly at Shen Man as she said in a hushed voice, “Was President Shen doing that on purpose?”
Shen Man immediately shook her head with a smile.
Many people nearby cast glances over, ready to watch a good show.
Lin Shu glared at those people, flicked the hem of her dress back, and a generous and proper smile reappeared on her face.
“Could those in the middle please move a little closer,” the host said.
Hearing this, Shen Man turned sideways and leaned toward Lin Shu.
Lin Shu felt a warm presence beside her, her nose filled with that pleasant, fresh fragrance.
She couldn’t help but stiffen her body, subtly shifting a small distance to the side.
Some people around with sharp eyes noticed this small detail and shot mocking glances at Shen Man.
Shen Man acted as if she didn’t see them.
Facing the camera, she tilted her head slightly to the side, just enough to touch Lin Shu.
Lin Shu’s heart skipped a beat.
Maintaining the smile on her face, she used the corner of her eye to warn Shen Man.
Shen Man paid her no mind.
After the photo was taken, Lin Shu left immediately.
Someone watched her angry retreating figure and said to Shen Man with a smile, “President Shen, I’m afraid you’ve gotten yourself into big trouble.”
“What trouble?” Shen Man asked, feigning ignorance.
The person smiled and said no more.
Shen Man bid farewell to a few familiar business partners and turned to leave.
By the time she returned to Lin Shu’s house, it was already eleven o’clock.
Shen Man changed her shoes, walked into the living room, and saw Lin Shu sitting there with a cold expression.
She gave a light smile and took the initiative to speak, “Shushu, not asleep yet?”
“How could I possibly sleep when you’re not back?” Lin Shu said coldly.
She quickly realized the ambiguity in her sarcastic words and immediately added in a fierce tone, “Why are you back so late? Don’t you know I’m hungry?”
“What do you want to eat? I’ll go make it,” Shen Man said good-naturedly.
“Whatever.” Lin Shu crossed her arms, a look of impatience on her face.
“I’ll go cook two bowls of noodles,” Shen Man said, turning to go to the kitchen.
Lin Shu sat for a moment, then couldn’t resist getting up and following her.
She leaned against the doorframe, her gaze fixed on Shen Man, and said sarcastically, “President Shen had no shortage of luck with the ladies tonight, always accompanied by beauties.”
“Director Lin must be joking. This is just normal business interaction,” Shen Man said with a smile.
“You mean to say there are also abnormal interactions?” Lin Shu’s brows drew together, her voice turning cold.
Shen Man paused, not expecting Lin Shu to react so quickly.
She stirred the noodles with her chopsticks and asked lightly, “Is Director Lin so concerned with my affairs?”
“Who’s concerned about you!” Lin Shu retorted loudly, biting her lip with some resentment. She then said, as if giving a command, “I don’t care what you were like before, but as long as you’re living here, you are not allowed to mess around with other women.”
“If I find out, I will absolutely not let you off,” she said fiercely.
Hearing this, Shen Man was not the least bit afraid.
With a faint smile, she said unhurriedly, “But I have never messed around with any woman.”
“Really?” Lin Shu asked subconsciously.
She quickly realized what she’d said and covered her mouth.
Seeing Shen Man smiling, she glared at her huffily and strode back to the living room.
Shen Man finished cooking the noodles and placed an egg in Lin Shu’s bowl.
She carried the two bowls of noodles to the table and said softly, “Shushu, come and eat.”
Lin Shu walked over, sat down, and began to eat without a word.
Shen Man sat beside her, gently stirring the noodles in her bowl, and asked curiously, “Director Lin, during your years abroad, there must have been quite a few people throwing themselves at you, right?”
Hearing this, Lin Shu sneered and retorted rudely, “Do you think everyone is like you, only knowing how to chat with beautiful women?”
“When I was abroad, I studied hard every day, all so that those who bullied me would get the ending they deserve.” As she spoke, she stared fiercely at Shen Man.
Shen Man looked directly into that pair of round, bright eyes, a playful smile appearing in her own. “Then I wish Director Lin that all her wishes come true soon.”
“Thank you!” Lin Shu gritted out, her fingers gripping her chopsticks tightly.
After the two finished their noodles, Lin Shu returned to her room with a cold expression.
Shen Man cleared the bowls and chopsticks.
It was quiet outside; the sound of the wind could be heard clearly.
After washing the dishes, Shen Man stood on the balcony, enjoying the coolness of the evening breeze.
The night was very still, causing one’s mood to calm down along with it.
Lin Shu’s words echoed in her ears.
Lin Shu had already made it clear that she had returned this time to get revenge on her.
It was just that this method of revenge was like a joke to her, possessing no threat or harm whatsoever.
Shen Man let the wind blow on her for a while, her mind becoming exceptionally clear.
She closed the window, walked to Lin Shu’s door, knocked, and asked, “Shushu, is there anything else you need me to do?”
Lin Shu opened the door with a displeased expression. “It’s the middle of the night, don’t disturb my sleep.”
“Alright,” Shen Man chuckled lightly.
She paused, then reached out and ruffled Lin Shu’s soft hair, saying in a deep voice, “Shushu, goodnight.”
Lin Shu froze.
When she came to her senses, she slapped Shen Man’s hand away and, with a blushing face, angrily scolded, “Who gave you permission to touch my hair?”
Without waiting for Shen Man’s reply, she angrily slammed the door shut.
Shen Man stood outside, the smile on her face gradually widening.
