I Am More Paranoid Than the Villain – Chapter 84

Things Have Escalated

She Shouldn’t Have Interfered

The phone call fell silent for a moment.

Feng Na wasn’t in a hurry. She laughed smugly and said, “I know you’re a smart person, though I also wish you weren’t. Once this rumor gets out, your bright future will be ruined.”

“Listen to Auntie’s advice. Obediently stay away from Lin Shu and be a normal kid. Auntie can even introduce you to a good boyfriend and help you marry into a wealthy and influential family.1

“Understood.” Shen Man replied expressionlessly and hung up.

She stared at Lin Shu’s door, standing for a moment before turning and returning to her own room.

After showering, Shen Man leaned against the headboard, her expression grave.

Several new messages popped up on her phone, all from Xia Ke regarding the forum incident.

“Manman, did you see the forum tonight? A post about Lin Shu liking women is causing a huge uproar.”

“Didn’t Lin Shu say she doesn’t like women? Why hasn’t she come out and denied it?”

“There are so many malicious people on this forum, and a lot of them are cursing out Lin Shu. You should comfort her and tell her not to be sad.”

“Shushu’s business is not for me to manage,” Shen Man typed, her face grim.

She hesitated for a few seconds before sending it, but pressed the button anyway.

“You’re the person Lin Shu trusts most, how can it not be for you to manage?” Xia Ke asked anxiously, typing rapidly. “Right now, you’re the only one who can comfort Lin Shu and be her support.”

Shen Man stared at the words, her heart tight and suffocated.

For a moment, she couldn’t breathe.

“As for Shushu’s affairs, I think she can resolve them herself. She doesn’t need me to meddle in idle matters,”2 she typed, her gaze deep and heavy. “I’m going to rest. Good night.”

Xia Ke glanced at the time. It wasn’t even eight o’clock.

She understood that Shen Man didn’t want to talk anymore, so she could only say good night.

Shen Man put down her phone and closed her eyes.

She emptied her mind, trying not to think about anything related to Lin Shu.

As long as she didn’t meddle, everything would proceed according to her expectations.

Shen Man slept for a while.

The first thing she did upon waking was check the forum.

She quickly scanned the latest developments and saw a comment from the head of the school’s Academic Affairs Office in the reply thread.

This meant the incident had already alerted the school administration.

Shen Man’s delicate brows furrowed slightly, and she let out a breath.

She tossed her phone aside, got up, and went to wash up.

Auntie He brought breakfast to the table and saw that no one had come out.

She walked to Shen Man’s room and knocked. “Manman, are you up? It’s time for breakfast.”

“I know,” Shen Man said, her voice cold.

Auntie He’s heart sank.

Seeing Shen Man open the door with an icy expression, she asked cautiously, “Manman, did you not sleep well last night?”

“It’s nothing,” Shen Man said indifferently, walking toward the living room.

Auntie He didn’t dare ask further and turned to call Lin Shu.

When Lin Shu walked into the living room, she saw the cold look on Shen Man’s face.

She sat down, snorted, and said, “Who are you displaying a face3 for so early in the morning?”

Hearing this, Shen Man looked up.

Gazing at the girl’s proud and pretty face, she reminded her, “The school administration probably knows about this by now.”

“So what if they know?” Lin Shu said with an air of indifference, then shot Shen Man a disdainful glance. “I’m not afraid, anyway.”

“If you’re scared, then just hide at home and don’t go anywhere.”

The corners of Shen Man’s eyes turned down, her cool features showing a hint of sharpness.

She stared at Lin Shu and said slowly, “Shushu, it’s not too late.”

Lin Shu ignored her, lowering her head to drink her congee.

Shen Man’s fingers tightened into a fist. The blue veins on the back of her hand bulged.

After a moment, she relaxed her hand, picked up the chopsticks beside her, and began to eat her breakfast in silence.
