Making Her Angry
You can only sit next to me
An even louder scream erupted in the classroom.
This time, it wasn’t just the girls; even many of the boys became emotional.
Shen Man felt envious and jealous gazes from all directions.
Those cute girls were now staring at her fiercely, especially Lin Shu behind her; the sound of her grinding her teeth came out.
Shen Man calmly lowered her head, opened her textbook, and directly ignored the male lead beside her.
Shao Qi glanced at Shen Man, his icy eyes showing no emotion.
He lay his head down to sleep, ignoring everyone.
Lin Shu, fuming, bit her lip, poked Shen Man’s back with a pen, and said arrogantly, “I want to switch seats with you.”
“No.” Shen Man chuckled, refusing concisely.
The anger on Lin Shu’s face intensified.
Tan Kai’s expression was also unpleasant. Staring at the black-clad back in front of him, he stood up and said, “Shen Man, I’ll switch seats with you.”
“Okay.” Shen Man agreed with a smile.
The two finished switching seats.
Shen Man and Lin Shu sat together, and Tan Kai and Shao Qi sat together.
A look of joy appeared on Lin Shu’s face. She stood up, looked at Tan Kai, and said, “I want to switch seats with you.”
“I’m not switching. It’s quite nice sitting here,” Tan Kai said, glancing at Shen Man from the corner of his eye.
After speaking, he also lay his head down to sleep.
No matter how many times Lin Shu called him, he wouldn’t move, so she had no choice but to sit back in her original spot.
Shen Man let out a soft laugh, leaned over towards Lin Shu, and said in a voice only the two of them could hear, “Be good and sit next to me. If you switch seats with Tan Kai, then I’ll switch with him too.”
“What do you mean? Are you deliberately going against me?” Lin Shu was furious, her small face flushed red with anger.
Shen Man smiled without speaking, lowering her voice to a whisper, “Don’t worry, I won’t fight with you over him.”
Lin Shu’s ear tickled. She shook her neck, opened her textbook with a resentful, blushing face.
The bell rang, and the teacher entered the classroom.
The noisy classroom instantly fell silent.
Shen Man listened attentively to the lecture.
Out of the corner of her eye, she glanced at Lin Shu’s textbook, which was densely filled with the two characters for ‘Shao Qi’.
Shen Man watched for a moment, put down her pen, tilted her head, and looked at Lin Shu with a beaming smile.
“What are you looking at me for?” Lin Shu said with dissatisfaction, quickly lying her head down and using her arm to cover the textbook.
“You should pay attention in class. Textbooks are for recording knowledge, not for writing irrelevant things,” Shen Man said in a scolding tone.
Lin Shu was inwardly displeased.
Since she was in the wrong, she didn’t dare to retort.
Shen Man continued to listen attentively to the class.
Lin Shu relaxed and secretly looked towards Shao Qi.
Just as her gaze drifted over, it met Shen Man’s deep eyes.
Lin Shu was startled and, like a thief with a guilty conscience1, quickly retracted her gaze and obediently lay her head down to listen to the lecture.
For Shen Man, this class period passed very quickly.
For Lin Shu, it was difficult and long.
The two boys in the front row, on the other hand, had slept straight through it.
Shen Man stopped writing and shook her hand.
Having gotten used to typing with office software on a computer, writing so many characters by hand for the first time made her wrist extremely sore.
“Could you please not shake the desk,” the male lead in the front row suddenly said, turning his head. His expression was cold. After speaking, he continued to lie his head down to sleep.
Shen Man stopped her movement, tilted her head, and saw Lin Shu’s incredibly astonished gaze.
“This is the first time he’s spoken to someone. His voice is so nice,” Lin Shu was first jealous, but her expression quickly turned to excitement.
Tan Kai saw this, and his face darkened. “He’s not a mute, why are you making such a big fuss?”
“What do you know?” Lin Shu rolled a white eye2, and said with a hint of disdain, “If you talked a little less, maybe more girls would like you.”
“I am a representative of youthful sunshine,” Tan Kai retorted loudly.
Shen Man quietly watched the two bicker.
It was clear that the relationship between these two was as good as iron buddies3.
The second male lead’s relationship with Lin Shu was said to be friendship, but it was actually more like an older brother taking care of a younger sister, while Lin Shu’s feelings for the second male lead were also purely platonic.
Shen Man didn’t quite understand.
Why Lin Shu would like the male lead so much, even to the point of obsession.
Shen Man pulled Lin Shu’s arm, ending the duo’s increasingly childish argument.
Lin Shu turned her head away with a huff, frowning as she shook off Shen Man’s hand, and asked, “What are you doing?”
“I want to ask you a question.” Shen Man glanced at her own wrist, her voice low.
Lin Shu’s heart trembled, and she explained with a guilty conscience, “Who told you to grab my wrist.”
A second later, as if trying to regain her confidence, she became imperious, “I don’t want to answer.”
Shen Man ignored her arrogance and said in a low voice, “Why do you like Shao Qi?”
“He’s so outstanding, many girls like him,” Lin Shu answered as if it were a matter of course.
Shen Man frowned, her eyes narrowing slightly. “In other words, you only care about looks?”
“Of course not,” Lin Shu said with a proud smile. “I also look at family background, physique, academic ability, and personality.”
Shen Man, “……”
To sum it up, the young miss cared about matching gates and aligned doors4 and looks.
She only liked the male lead because the plot required her to like the male lead, not because there was anything about him that truly moved her.
The second class period began.
Shen Man propped her cheek up with one hand and held a pen in the other, playing with it nonchalantly.
The black pen danced between her fair fingers, the afterimage of its rotation forming a beautiful circle.
Lin Shu watched, her eyes wide with astonishment, and asked in a low voice, “How do you do that?”
“Hm?” Shen Man stopped.
Following Lin Shu’s gaze to her own fingers, she then understood what Lin Shu was asking.
She smiled calmly, “All you need is a hand.”
“……” Lin Shu gritted her teeth.
Lin Shu began to ponder how to spin a pen.
Shen Man smiled, gathered her thoughts, and listened attentively to the class.
The teacher on the podium was lecturing animatedly. He paused and said, “Next, I’ll ask a student to answer a question.”
He lowered his head, looked at the student roster, and after choosing for a moment, said, “Student Lin Shu, you answer this question.”
Lin Shu stood up, holding the pen in her hand, with a blank expression on her face.
After standing for a while, she cast a pleading look towards Shen Man.
“Choose C,” Shen Man wrote on a piece of paper.
Lin Shu immediately said loudly, “Choose C.”
The whole class roared with laughter.
Lin Shu instantly understood that she had been tricked by Shen Man and stared at her angrily.
Shen Man met her gaze with a smile, completely unafraid.
The teacher helplessly waved for Lin Shu to sit down, looked at the roster again, and said, “Student Shao Qi, you answer.”
He called several times, but there was no response.
Tan Kai heard the voice, knocked on the adjacent desk, and said in a cool tone, “The teacher is telling you to get up and answer the question.”
“Don’t know,” Shao Qi said, lifting his head, and then continued to sleep.
Lin Shu immediately raised her hand and said loudly, “Shen Man said she knows, she wants to answer the question.”
The students’ gazes immediately focused on Shen Man.
Shen Man glanced at Lin Shu, calmly stood up, and answered the question with composure.
Her voice was soft and light, and the smile on her face was gentle and charming.
The teacher smiled with satisfaction, “Please be seated.”
Shen Man sat down and turned her head to look at Lin Shu.
Those clear, light eyes were filled with amusement, which to Lin Shu was tantamount to a provocation.
Lin Shu’s face turned cold, and with a harrumph, she focused on the lecture.
The second class period ended, and there was a twenty-minute break in between.
The next class was a combined class for two sections, held in the classroom next door.
Shen Man packed up her textbook and pen, placing them neatly into her schoolbag.
She stood up, walked outside, and casually swept her gaze over the crowd standing at the door.
When her line of sight met one of the girls’, the other person quickly averted her gaze, turning her head to pretend to look elsewhere.
Shen Man frowned, stopped walking, and turned back to take another look at this girl.
She felt that the girl looked a bit familiar.
“Ding Xi5, help me take my schoolbag over,” Lin Shu said as she walked out.
Ding Xi hurriedly took her schoolbag.
Hearing this name, Shen Man immediately remembered.
This was the girl who had suddenly run out that night and told Lin Shu, ‘It was a mistake.’
Based on this information and Lin Shu’s clueless reaction that night, she roughly deduced that these two had wanted to plot against her, but ended up mistakenly taking the aphrodisiac.
Through a mix-up of Yin and Yang6, she and Lin Shu had a spring breeze for one night.
Shen Man found a seat against the wall and sat down.
Seeing Ding Xi come in, Shen Man tilted her head and chuckled softly.
Ding Xi’s eyes darted away. She hastily placed Lin Shu’s schoolbag on an empty seat and then ran out.
Shen Man laughed and tried hard to recall this character.
After thinking for a while, she hadn’t heard anyone mention her.
She was probably just a cannon fodder7 character, running errands for Lin Shu to emphasize Lin Shu’s arrogance and domineering nature.
When Lin Shu came out of the restroom, she saw Ding Xi’s expression as if she had seen a ghost. She frowned and asked, “What’s wrong with you? Who bullied you?”
Ding Xi quickly shook her head, glanced at the students passing by, and pulled Lin Shu to a quiet corner, saying in a low voice, “Are you and Shen Man okay?”
Lin Shu’s pretty eyebrows raised, and her tone turned cold. “What do you mean?”
“That’s not what I mean.” Ding Xi quickly waved her hands, her face red, and explained with difficulty, “I heard that… that kind of medicine needs… that kind of thing to be eliminated.”
This time, Lin Shu understood the words ‘that kind’ and ‘that kind of thing’.
Last time, she had pretended to understand when she didn’t and suffered a great loss.
Lin Shu glared at Ding Xi and warned fiercely, “Don’t ever mention this matter again.”
“But Shen Man…” Ding Xi hesitated, still a little scared.
“You don’t need to be afraid of her. Just pretend it never happened,” Lin Shu said, her face filled with anger.
Ding Xi didn’t dare to say any more.
Lin Shu returned to the classroom with a dark expression.
The first thing she saw was Shen Man. She huffed, averted her gaze, and walked towards her seat.
Shen Man chuckled softly.
A shadow fell beside her, followed by Tan Kai’s voice, “Can I sit here?”
Shen Man didn’t speak.
Lin Shu stood up, looked at Tan Kai, and said loudly, “Sit behind me.”
Next to her was Ding Xi.
Tan Kai looked left and right.
Amidst Lin Shu’s increasingly angry glare, he walked to the seat behind Lin Shu and sat down.
“Lin Shu, you seem to have a big problem with Shen Man?” Tan Kai asked.
“None of your business,” Lin Shu answered irritably.
Today, Shen Man had made her look like a complete fool in front of all her classmates, especially Shao Qi.
Lin Shu couldn’t swallow this insult.
“Don’t be so small-hearted8, Shen Man was just teasing you. Who told you not to pay attention in class,” Tan Kai said.
Lin Shu immediately became even angrier, “Are you on her side or mine?”
Tan Kai tactfully shut his mouth9.
Shen Man looked at Lin Shu’s furious appearance and roughly understood that Lin Shu was blaming her for the wrong answer she had given earlier.
She didn’t know when the young miss’s anger would subside.
Shen Man’s lips curved, the amusement in her eyes not diminishing in the slightest.
