Uncontainable Rage
Her words carried a trace of vinegar-intent.1
The bar was extraordinarily lively.
A suggestive aura permeated the air, stimulating one’s cerebral cortex.
Lin Shu gazed at that exquisite and stunning side profile, walking step by step toward the bar.
Her expression was cold, her rounded eyes holding a suppressed anger.
It was very noisy all around.
Rhythmic music mixed with playful laughter echoed throughout the entire hall.
Lin Shu filled her ears and did not listen2.
It was as if she couldn’t hear anything, all of her senses focused on the two people at the bar who were getting closer and closer.
The woman’s lips opened and closed, her slender wrist already resting on Shen Man’s shoulder.
Lin Shu felt a wave of nausea for no reason.
Her chest felt as if it were being squeezed, making it hard for her to breathe.
Xia Ke noticed Lin Shu’s approaching figure.
She reached out, nudged Shen Man with her elbow, and said in a low voice, “Lin Shu is here.”
Shen Man paid her no mind.
The expression on her face didn’t change in the slightest as she watched the woman with a focused gaze, her cool eyes seemingly filled with gentleness.
The woman’s face flushed red, and she covered her lips, laughing happily.
Suddenly, a shadow fell from behind her.
It was followed by a cold voice, “Let go of your hand!”
The woman turned her head and saw a little beauty with a pure and innocent face.
She said teasingly with a smile, “Little sister, have you come of age yet?”
Rage surged in Lin Shu’s heart.
She shot Shen Man a fierce glare, then looked at the woman and said in a cold voice, “She’s just playing around, she won’t develop real feelings for you.”
Hearing this, the woman laughed as if she had heard a great joke, slumping over the bar without any regard for her composure.
Lin Shu stood rooted to the spot, a trace of embarrassment appearing on her face.
She looked at Shen Man.
Shen Man gave a light laugh.
She elegantly took a sip of her drink and said in a deep voice, “Thank you for buying me a drink.”
“You’re welcome. It’s my honor to be able to buy a great beauty like you a drink.” The woman wiped the smile from her face, licked her lips, her eyes bewitching.
She turned back to look at Lin Shu as if seeing some kind of curiosity. “Little sister, you really are naive. Who comes here to talk about real feelings?”
“Even if we were to talk about real feelings, that would have to be done in/on the bed.” As she spoke, her laughter turned suggestive, faintly tinged with disdain.
Lin Shu was stunned by this statement. She opened her lips but was momentarily speechless.
She subconsciously looked toward Shen Man, her almond eyes filled with a sense of helplessness.
A flicker passed through Shen Man’s eyes, and she suppressed the protective urge rising in her heart. She drank her alcohol as if that matter did not exist.
Lin Shu was instantly angered. She glared at Shen Man, her rosy lips pressed tightly together.
Seeing this, the woman understood something and asked with a smile, “Great beauty, do you two know each other?”
“We don’t.” Shen Man let out a light laugh, her expression indifferent.
“Who says we don’t know each other?” Lin Shu retorted angrily. “We obviously came here together.”
Shen Man ignored her.
The woman smiled. “Little sister, she already said she doesn’t know you. Why must you pester to death and beat until rotten?3“
“That’s not good, you’ll let people watch a joke4.” This sentence carried obvious ridicule.
Lin Shu’s face flushed faintly from the mockery.
She wanted to retort angrily, but seeing Shen Man’s attitude of being unmoved in the heart, that bit of anger turned into a sense of grievance that filled her chest, making her feel unbearably stifled.
Many gazes from the surrounding crowd were cast over, ready to watch a good show.
Discussions mixed with laughter continuously came from the crowd.
Lin Shu stood on the spot, the corners of her eyes turning red.
A woman walked up beside her and asked gently, “Are you alright?”
Lin Shu quickly shook her head, wiping the corners of her eyes with the back of her hand.
“Did you come alone?” the woman asked, her voice soft. “If you don’t mind, let’s have a drink together.”
“I’m alone too, and a bit lonely,” the woman added in a self-deprecating manner.
“Okay.” Lin Shu nodded immediately, the corners of her lips turning up.
“This way, please. What would you like to drink?” the woman said with a light laugh, her intimate attitude making it seem as if they had known each other for a long time.
“Anything is fine,” Lin Shu replied with a smile.
The two gradually walked away.
Shen Man stared at the reflection in her glass, her fingers tightening their grip.
Xia Ke was extremely worried and asked in a low voice, “Is this really alright?”
“It’s her first time here. What if she gets tricked?”
“Drink.” Shen Man said with a smile, but her eyes were filled with frost.
Xia Ke sighed helplessly, holding her glass and glancing in Lin Shu’s direction.
“Great beauty, we’ve had our drink. Why don’t we sit together for a while?” the woman said with a wink, her suggestion extremely strong.
“Thank you, but put this drink on my tab.” Shen Man smiled and brushed off her shoulder. It was a seemingly casual gesture, but it made her attitude clear.
The woman was perceptive and showed a regretful smile. “I didn’t lose out. On the contrary, I came out ahead.”
After speaking, she turned and left triumphantly.
“Manman, Lin Shu seems to be having a happy chat with that person,” Xia Ke said in a low voice.
After a pause, she added, “That person seems gentle and polite, and hasn’t made any inappropriate moves. Lin Shu should be fine.”
Shen Man heard this.
In her heart, she knew she shouldn’t look back, but she couldn’t help herself.
“It’s just a common little trick,” she snorted coldly.
Xia Ke detected a trace of vinegar-intent.
She leaned in, squeezing her brows and playing with her eyes5. “Why did you say you didn’t know Lin Shu just now?”
“I saw she was on the verge of tears.”
Shen Man’s heart felt heavy, and she lowered her gaze.
For a moment, she couldn’t figure out if she was punishing Lin Shu or torturing herself.
“Manman, look quickly…” Xia Ke became agitated, anxiously tugging on Shen Man’s sleeve. “Lin Shu left with that woman.”
Shen Man whipped her head around, only catching the disappearing corners of their clothes.
Panic seized her heart. She put down her glass and chased after them at top speed.
Xia Ke sighed. “Since you care so much, why did you have to make her cry just now?”
The bartender nearby chuckled and chimed in, “Couples are all like this when they’re fighting.”
Xia Ke’s delicate brows furrowed. An explanation reached her lips, but she swallowed it back down.
Shen Man chased outside just in time to see Lin Shu standing next to an unfamiliar car.
The woman was leaning against the car, casually striking a sexy pose.
The woman reached out, her fingertips brushing through Lin Shu’s hair.
Lin Shu was startled.
Just as she was about to speak, the woman had already started to explain, “There was a small piece of debris in your hair. You probably picked it up by accident.”
“Thank you.” Lin Shu relaxed and revealed a smile.
The young woman’s face was youthful and tender, and her every one frown and one smile6 exuded a rare simplicity.
The faint light from the streetlamp fell upon her, seeming to veil her slender figure in a white halo, making her look somewhat unreal.
Shen Man’s heart tightened, and she walked over with quick steps.
The woman noticed her figure and immediately stood in front of Lin Shu, asking with a friendly smile, “Miss, can I help you?”
“This is my friend,” Shen Man said in a cold voice, her gaze fixed on Lin Shu.
Lin Shu let out a haughty7 snort and turned her head to the side, staring at the passing traffic.
The woman smiled with satisfaction and looked directly at Shen Man. “Shushu doesn’t know you. Please leave.”
“What did you call her?” Shen Man’s eyes darkened, and she squeezed the words out from between her teeth.
Her indifferent eyes turned sharp, and her tall figure exuded an immense sense of pressure.
A flash of fear went through the woman’s heart.
She quickly composed herself again, putting on her usual gentle smile. “Shushu doesn’t know you. If you continue to cause trouble, I’m going to call the police.”
After she finished speaking, she looked at Lin Shu. “I’ll take you home.”
“No need.” Shen Man’s eyes turned cold.
She stretched out a long arm, directly grabbing Lin Shu’s wrist and pulling her into her embrace with a single motion.
“Let me go!” Lin Shu cried out, her eyes instantly turning red. “Didn’t you just say you didn’t know me? Why are you showing up now?”
“I hate you…” she said as aggrieved tears fell, twisting her body to struggle.
Shen Man lowered her gaze, her deep eyes showing no emotion.
She looked down, paused for a moment, then lifted the young woman’s chin with her fingertips.
Lin Shu froze, her rosy lips slightly parted as she sobbed, staring blankly as that beautiful face drew near.
A warmth touched her lips.
Her eyes widened in astonishment.
A cold light was in Shen Man’s eyes.
She was not in the least bit polite as she tasted the young woman’s soft lips.
She lightly bit the corner of her lip and said in a hoarse voice, “Tell her, do you know me or not?”
Lin Shu blinked helplessly, her long eyelashes trembling uneasily.
Her lips glistened, and her mind was a complete blank, unable to think.
Shen Man held the back of her neck, hugging her tightly.
Her pair of cold eyes stared at the woman as she threatened coldly, “You dare touch my person?”
“But you don’t know each other…” The woman was scared but still wanted to argue her case.
Shen Man’s eyes narrowed as she grabbed the woman’s wrist with one hand. “My Shushu is not someone just anyone can call by that name.”
The woman cried out in pain.
A pained expression appeared on her face. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know she was your person…”
As Lin Shu smelled the pleasant scent, her reason gradually returned.
Suddenly hearing that sentence, her heartbeat instantly lost its rhythm and began to ‘thump thump’ uncontrollably.
Beat after beat, it made a huge sound, as if it were exploding right next to her ear.
She was enveloped in a soft embrace.
The other person’s body heat penetrated her skin through their thin clothes, instantly making her blood boil. Her entire body temperature couldn’t stop rising, every pore seemed to emit heat, blushing her neck and dyeing her cheeks red.
She was burning up, yet she was reluctant to leave.
Her face was bright red, and like an ostrich, she lowered her head and said nothing.
“Shushu, the women here are all masters of the field of love8. No one would be foolish enough to tell their real name to someone with ulterior motives,” Shen Man lectured with a cold face.
Her heartbeat was still rapid.
Lin Shu felt something shatter in an instant.
Like a colorful bubble, it burst forth with a brilliant light, then vanished without the slightest forewarning9.
She shoved Shen Man away, not willing to show weakness as she widened her eyes. “You’re the stupid one! You clearly knew she was just playing around with you, yet you still drank her alcohol.”
“I understand her tricks. Even if I really did drink her alcohol, so what?” Shen Man roared in a low voice, her face showing an unprecedented anger.
She had almost lost control. “And you? You don’t understand anything, yet you just follow a stranger. She said she’d take you home, aren’t you afraid she was harboring unfathomable intentions and would take you to a hotel?”
The more Shen Man spoke, the angrier she became. In that instant, all the worry buried in her heart transformed into irrepressible rage.
Endless grievance surged in Lin Shu’s heart.
Her eyes reddened, and she stubbornly bit her lip, turning her head away to keep the tears from falling.
Shen Man stared at the young woman’s face that refused to admit fault, the anger piled up in her chest feeling like it was about to explode.
She clenched her fists tightly, the blue veins on her hands were exposed10.
Neither of them spoke.
Cars passed back and forth on the road, momentarily illuminating the spot where they stood before it was plunged into darkness again.
Lin Shu snorted twice and finally found her voice, “You don’t need to manage too many idle affairs!11“
“You think everyone is like you, with nothing but getting into bed on their mind.”
Hearing this, Shen Man gave a cold laugh.
