I Am More Paranoid Than the Villain – Chapter 48

Excessive Loss of Control

We seem like a couple

Lin Shu sat in the very center of the movie theater.

Lazily leaning against the back of the chair, she held a large bucket of popcorn in her arms, still in a full state, having barely touched it.

Looking around, the surroundings were all filled with crowds of twos and threes; only she was alone.

Lin Shu puffed up her little face in annoyance, a pair of listless apricot eyes staring ahead.

The various lights from the big screen flashed before her eyes from time to time, making them ache.

She had not taken in any of the movie’s plot.

“Miss Lin, a woman named Shen Man is looking for you.” A staff member walked over and said politely.

Lin Shu’s eyes instantly lit up, and she sat up to ask, “Where is she?”

“Waiting for you in the lobby,” the staff member said.

Joy bloomed in Lin Shu’s heart.

She casually grabbed a handful of popcorn, put it in her mouth, and said while chewing, “Alright, I know.”

The staff member was unsure what to make of her nonchalant attitude, and walked out of the screening room and into the lobby.

Looking at Shen Man, they said, “Miss Lin is still watching the movie, you just wait here.”

Hearing the condescending tone in those words, Shen Man revealed a light smile.

She lowered her head to look at her wrist, pinching her watch with one hand, her eyes slightly narrowed as she stared at the second hand.

The second hand made one full circle.

Lin Shu’s figure appeared within her field of vision.

“Shen Man, why did you arrive so late?” Lin Shu complained with a pouting little mouth as she walked out.

After speaking, she ate a mouthful of popcorn.

“Apologies, I am late.” Shen Man looked up, the corners of her lips hooking up slightly.

A slender fingernail scraped across the watch, emitting a sharp zhi zhi sound that was nearly inaudible in the vast lobby.

Lin Shu let out an arrogant hng.

Walking up to Shen Man, she naturally handed over the things she had bought, “Hold these for me.”

A smile was on Shen Man’s lips as she reached out and took them.

The two of them walked outside.

Lin Shu walked in front, a happy smile appearing on her little face as she said with a laugh, “Shen Man, the movie just now was really good. If you had come earlier, you would have been able to see it.”

She spoke a great deal in high spirits, but there was not the slightest response from behind her.

Lin Shu’s expression sank, and she stopped in her tracks.

Turning around, she looked at Shen Man and said unhappily, “What’s wrong with you? Not making a single sound.”

“It’s nothing,” Shen Man said, the corners of her mouth habitually hooking up slightly.

That pair of cold and clear eyes, against the light, were hidden in the shadows, seemingly suffused with a chill.

A cold wind blew over.

Lin Shu couldn’t help but shiver.

She walked forward hugging her arms, complaining in a small voice, “How is it so cold outside…”

“Is it very cold? I, on the contrary, feel a bit hot.” Shen Man let out a light laugh, her fingers gripping the shopping bag tightly.

Lin Shu pouted, “You still feel hot on such a cold day, how strange.”

“Is that so?” Shen Man gave a cold laugh, her eyes fixed tightly on the slender figure ahead.

Her voice was not loud, and was drowned out by the sound of the wind.

Lin Shu got into the car.

The temperature inside the car was comfortable, isolating her from the cold outside.

She leaned against the back of the seat comfortably and began to laugh happily.

Shen Man opened the car door and threw the things in her hands onto the back seat all at once.

The dong dong sound was loud and piercing in the narrow car.

A designer handbag slid down the seat, falling with a pa sound.

Lin Shu’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Staring at Shen Man, she questioned furiously, “What are you doing?”

Shen Man did not answer.

With a peng sound, she forcefully shut the car door.

Lin Shu was startled by the loud noise.

Looking at Shen Man’s expressionless face, a trace of fear rose in her heart.

“Why didn’t you answer my call?” Shen Man tilted her head, her tone so deep it seemed to be squeezed from her throat.

Lin Shu was taken aback, then retorted loudly, “When did you call me?”

Hearing these words, the anger in Shen Man’s heart spread uncontrollably outwards.

Her face cold, she extended her fingers, directly took the phone out of Lin Shu’s pocket, and commanded in a cold voice, “Unlock it!”

Lin Shu dazedly unlocked it.

Shen Man opened the phone and looked at the missed calls.

The bright red color stimulated her eyes, burning her rationality like fire.

Her entire body began to boil, her fair and tender skin flushed red and broke out in tiny beads of sweat, and that pair of slender fingers gripped the phone so tightly it seemed as if they would crush it.

Lin Shu’s heart tightened, and she subconsciously swallowed.

She explained with a lack of confidence, “I answered a spam call while watching the movie, and then I silenced my phone.”

Towards the end of her words, her voice became smaller and smaller, and her eyes unconsciously lowered.

Shen Man hooked her lips.

A scolding he1 escaped her thin, red lips, clear and cold, carrying a barely perceptible sneer.

The car fell silent for a moment.

Lin Shu felt an invisible pressure gathering around her, oppressing her chest.

Her breathing began to quicken.

“Shushu, you must answer my calls from now on.” Shen Man lowered her eyes, her deep voice carrying a somewhat coercive and commanding tone.

She stared at the young woman’s lowered eyes, her fingertips tapping ceaselessly on the phone screen.

The dang dang sound circulated in the quiet car.

Without rhythm, without pattern, it struck Lin Shu’s heart, one tap after another.

A wave of grievance welled up in Lin Shu’s heart.

This grievance fermented quickly, rising up her throat and breaking through the fear that enveloped her.

She raised her head, a trace of tears shimmering in her round apricot eyes, and retorted loudly, “It’s not like I intentionally didn’t answer your call… If you couldn’t get through, couldn’t you have waited a little while?”

The movement of Shen Man’s fingers paused, and her expression instantly darkened.

The warm yellow light fell on that cold and clear face, not in the least diminishing the chill in her eyes.

“Shushu, it seems you are not aware of your mistake,” Shen Man said with a light laugh, her voice gentle.

“Where was I wrong?” Tears glistened in Lin Shu’s eyes, and she practically roared, “Isn’t it just that I didn’t answer your call? You’re making it seem like I’ve wronged you so terribly…”

As her words trailed off, an enlarged face suddenly appeared before her eyes.

Lin Shu immediately shut her mouth, her body tensing into a straight line, and she stammered, “What are you trying to do…”

Shen Man’s eyes were dark and gloomy.

Extending a fingertip, she delicately traced that red lip and said softly, “I had already suppressed the anger in my heart, but you just had to provoke me.”

“How did I… mhm mhm…” Before Lin Shu could explain, her lips were captured.

This kiss was different from those in the past.

Lin Shu kept her eyes open, looking at that pair of usually calm eyes that now carried a madness and fury she could not comprehend.

Her heart trembled, and she closed her eyes in fear.

Her wrist was seized.

The force was as if to prevent her from breaking free.

A distinct red mark appeared on her fair and tender skin, and the slight pain stimulated her brain.

Lin Shu felt very hot, as if heat was radiating from both inside and out.

The air in her lungs was continuously plundered in a domineering manner; she was about to be unable to breathe.

More and more tears welled in her eyes, and her clear vision gradually became blurry.

Shen Man kissed fiercely.

She firmly controlled the soft body in her arms, not allowing the person any chance to escape.

That petal-like lip was enjoyed by her to her heart’s content, delicately and powerlessly bearing the anger in her heart.

The long kiss finally ended.

Lin Shu’s body leaned limply against the chair, her red lips slightly parted like a dehydrated fish, brazenly seizing the oxygen in the air.

Her ink-black, smooth long hair was scattered in disarray, the strands at her temples were soaked with sweat, and a lock of long hair clung to her crimson cheek, falling upon her constantly heaving chest.

A slender, beautiful hand brushed that lock of hair away.

It moved down along the smooth cheek, landing on the slightly swollen lips.

Ngh…” A soft moan escaped Lin Shu’s throat.

Her long eyelashes fluttered rapidly, unable to hide the misty sheen of water in her eyes.

She watched as a scorching light danced in the eyes of the person beside her.

Lin Shu’s body trembled almost imperceptibly.

Her heart beat even faster.

Her hands were already free, but she had to support herself on the seat to maintain her body’s balance.

Shen Man leaned over.

The angry emotions completely vanished amidst the redness at the corners of the young woman’s eyes, replaced by another kind of intense and strong emotion.

She had always been able to rationally control the impulses deep in her heart, but this time, she did not want to restrain herself as she had in the past.

Lin Shu looked at that beautiful approaching face, and her heartbeat grew tense.

She clearly saw the scorching heat hidden in that pair of cold and clear eyes, knew what was about to happen, but she did not dodge in any way.

The temperature inside the car continued to rise, and an ambiguous atmosphere floated in the small space.

Lin Shu’s clothes hung loosely on her body, the exposed skin bearing a gorgeous and moving crimson, as well as clearly visible strawberry marks2.

“From now on, you must answer my calls, do you remember?” Shen Man said with a cold expression on her face.

Her usually cold and clear expression was tinged with a beautiful blush.

Lin Shu’s red lips were slightly parted, continuously drawing in the oxygen from the air.

There were tears at the corners of her eyes, and that pair of eyes was misty, as if still in a daze.

After a good while, her racing heart finally calmed down.

Lin Shu pursed her rosy lips and sobbed twice, which counted as a response.

“Have a drink of water, moisten your throat.” Shen Man sat back in the driver’s seat, picked up a bottle of water, and handed it over.

Lin Shu let out a wronged hng, snatched the water, and began to drink in small sips.

Shen Man tilted her head.

She saw that the young woman’s collar was still messy, revealing her fair and tender skin that invited fanciful thoughts.

A rare trace of embarrassment rose in her heart, and she gave a light cough to remind her, “Shushu, fix your clothes.”

Heh…” Lin Shu let out a light sneer from her nose, her round eyes staring at Shen Man fearlessly3, “You weren’t like this when you were taking my clothes off.”

As she spoke, she unhurriedly straightened her own clothes.

It was as if in the a matter of passion just now, she was the one in control of everything.

Shen Man was in the wrong and could not say anything to refute it.

Pursing her lips, she picked up the water beside her and took a large gulp.

The icy sensation stimulated her stomach, instantly lowering her body’s fiery temperature.

Rationality returned.

Shen Man looked at the mess on the front passenger seat, and only then did she realize that she had, in a state of clear consciousness, done something that could be described as crazy.

If it were in the past, she would absolutely not have let herself lose control like this.

“What are you looking at!” Lin Shu scolded imperiously4, tidying herself up in an unhurried manner.

Her expression was as natural as if she were doing something ordinary.

Shen Man’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Her cold and clear eyes held a trace of confusion.

Under normal circumstances, Lin Shu should be delicate and soft with a blushing face, as obedient and shy as a kitten.

But in reality, Lin Shu was an untamable little wildcat; she could retract her claws with teary eyes, and she could also bare her fangs and brandish her claws.

“We’re even,” Lin Shu said, throwing away the tissue and fixing her hair, acting as if nothing had happened.

Shen Man understood the meaning behind her words, a flash of anger crossed her eyes, and she said with a smile, “If Shushu doesn’t answer my call again next time, does that mean I can still receive this kind of special compensation?”

Lin Shu gave a cold hng, looked out the window, and did not speak.

The tenderness and affection in Shen Man’s heart vanished completely, leaving only a trace of unwilling anger.

By the time they returned to the house, it was already past midnight.

Lin Shu went to take a shower first thing.

She stood under the showerhead, enjoying the comfortable feeling of the warm water washing over her body.

The stickiness on her body was washed completely clean.

Lin Shu let out a comfortable sigh and came out wrapped in a bath towel.

She faced the mirror, drying her soaking wet hair, the mirror reflecting the bright red strawberry marks on her body.

Lin Shu finished drying her hair.

The jet-black hair and snow-white skin formed a strong visual contrast, making that touch of red appear even more gorgeous and alluring.

“Why did you have to kiss so hard…” Lin Shu muttered in a small voice, gently rubbing the red mark with her finger.

As she spoke, her little face flushed red, and her heartbeat quickened uncontrollably.

A knocking sound on the door rang out.

Lin Shu pouted, put on a jacket, and went to open the door.

Shen Man stood outside the door, her eyes a sheet of calm.

“What is it?” Lin Shu asked haughtily.

“About tonight’s events, I’m very sorry, I was impulsive.” Shen Man’s eyes held apology, her expression sincere.

Lin Shu immediately let out a sneer, fiddling with her hair, “Spare me the apology, I don’t believe in such hypocritical nonsense.”

Shen Man froze, rarely feeling a sense of helplessness, and said with a smile, “Alright then, I won’t mention this matter again.”

“Goodnight, Shushu.”

Lin Shu slammed the door shut with a peng.

Shen Man stood outside the door, her eyes dark and gloomy.

She truly could not quite figure out Lin Shu’s thoughts.

Whether it was her dominance in the car, or her current tactic of retreating in order to advance5, Lin Shu seemed to pay no mind to these routines, remaining as haughty as ever.

Like a noble cat, that pair of round, bright eyes carried a dazzling light that would never admit defeat.

That unexpected matter of passion was more like a contest.

She had won, and she had also lost.

Shen Man hooked her lips; her mood was not as bad as she had imagined, and there was even an extra trace of unusual excitement.

Compared to a well-behaved and dependent great beauty, a haughty great young miss like Lin Shu offered more of a pleasure of conquest.

When Lin Shu woke up, she felt sore all over.

She took out her phone and dialed Shen Man’s number.

Shen Man was sitting in the living room, reading a book.

Hearing the ringtone, she picked up her phone, saw the caller’s name, and immediately got up and walked towards Lin Shu’s room.

“Shushu, what’s wrong?” Shen Man asked, knocking on the door.

“Come in,” Lin Shu said loudly.

Shen Man turned the doorknob.

Upon entering, she saw Lin Shu wearing pajamas, lying on the bed in a lazy posture.

The top two buttons of her pajamas were undone, revealing the snow-white skin she had caressed last night.

Shen Man’s throat immediately tightened, and she averted her gaze to ask, “Shushu, you called for me, what is it?”

“Help me massage my shoulders, and my waist, and my legs.” Lin Shu closed her eyes, her voice carrying an unconscious hint of coquettishness, “It’s all your fault, you made my whole body sore.”

Shen Man drew near.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, she extended her hands and skillfully massaged that fragrant shoulder; the skin under her hands was soft and delicate, carrying a fragrance unique to a young woman.

Shen Man’s memory was instantly pulled back to last night.

She leaned down, her warm breath falling on the space between Lin Shu’s neck.

Lin Shu immediately felt waves of itchiness on her skin.

She couldn’t help but shrug her shoulders and scold in a low voice, “Why are you leaning so close to me? Get a little farther away from me.”

Shen Man gave a light laugh.

She covered the other’s body with her own, the falling shadow enveloping the young woman’s slender body within it.

She moved closer, taking that fair and tender earlobe between her lips, “Weren’t you the one who told me to come in?”

The two words ‘come in’ were deliberately drawn out, carrying an endless ambiguity.

Lin Shu’s little face turned red, and she turned her cheek to the side, avoiding the scalding breath.

The smile in Shen Man’s eyes deepened; last night’s unhappiness and unwillingness were dispelled by this momentary victory.

Her fingers moved downwards, massaging the soft, slender waist with a moderate force.

Lin Shu pouted her red lips slightly, her eyelids lowered as she stared at the strands of hair in front of her forehead.

Her sore body gradually relaxed under the comfortable massage.

“Shushu, we’re very much like a couple right now,” Shen Man said with a smile, her tone light.

Her smiling voice seemed to contain infinite anticipation.

Lin Shu’s heart jolted, and after being stunned for a few seconds, she abruptly sat up.

She stared at Shen Man, and said with a serious little face, “Don’t talk nonsense!”

“You and I have no relationship whatsoever.” This sentence was spoken with extreme gravity.

Hearing this, Shen Man’s expression remained light.

In a scene like this, the one who gets serious is the real loser.

“I was just making a joke, Shushu don’t be so nervous,” Shen Man said with a smile, her eyes gentle, as if it really were just a joke.

An inexplicable stuffiness rose in Lin Shu’s heart, and she shot Shen Man a fierce glare, “Alright, you can get out now.”

Shen Man left with a smile filling her face.
