I Am More Paranoid Than the Villain – Chapter 24

She’s drunk

How did she kiss you

A person stood against the light at the doorway.

Her figure was slender, her dress fashionable. Everything she wore from head to toe was a famous brand; the most eye-catching thing was that pair of fair and straight long legs.

The people in the room all looked in the direction of the voice.

Many of the boys’ eyes showed amazement, and someone even whistled with a grin.

Shen Man noticed that the young woman’s shirt was not the one she had worn when she left in the morning.

Lin Shu curled her lip in disdain, completely ignoring those people.

Her arrogant gaze passed over everyone else’s as she glared at Shen Man and questioned loudly, “Why are you driving my car?”

Before Shen Man could speak, the boy who had been sitting in the middle stood up, revealing what he thought was a handsome smile, and said with a laugh, “Little beauty, is this your friend?”

Lin Shu frowned and didn’t speak, the disdain in her eyes deepening.

The interest on the boy’s face grew stronger. He took two steps forward and said again, “Your friend ruined my birthday party. Shouldn’t you drink a couple of cups on her behalf to apologize?”

As soon as he said this, someone next to him immediately poured a glass of alcohol and handed it to the boy.

Seeing this, Xu Yimeng, her voice trembling, cried softly and shook her head forcefully. “I beg you, let us go. I won’t look for you again in the future…”

“It’s too late for regrets now,” the boy said with a smile, his voice carrying a cold cruelty.

Xu Yimeng was instantly so frightened that her body trembled and her face turned deathly pale.

Lin Shu frowned as she looked at the scene before her, her eyes full of doubt. She asked, “Shen Man, what the hell are you doing? Who are these people?”

“I don’t know them either,” Shen Man replied with a slight smile, her expression relaxed.

“Then what are you doing here? And driving my car, did you get my permission? To just drive my car. Where did you get the car keys?” Lin Shu automatically ignored everyone else and angrily questioned Shen Man.

With each question, her volume rose a notch.

Shen Man chuckled lightly. “I’ll explain it to you later.”

“Why later? I want to hear it now!” Lin Shu demanded loudly and justifiably.

The two of them chatted as if no one else was there.

The boy was completely ignored. His face became unsightly. Holding the wine glass, he walked straight towards Lin Shu and threatened with a smile, “Little beauty, if you don’t drink, I’m afraid my brothers here won’t let you go.”

“Oh-ho, you want to compete with me on who has more people?” Lin Shu snorted contemptuously, her gaze sweeping around the room, her expression arrogant. “Believe it or not, I can call a group of people over?”

“Who are you calling?” Shen Man asked in a low voice.

“What’s it to you!” Lin Shu replied irritably. “After I’ve dealt with this bunch of little hooligans, I’ll settle the score with you.”

The anger on the boy’s face became more obvious, and he revealed a fierce look. “Little beauty, don’t refuse a toast only to drink a forfeit1.”

“Is that so?” Lin Shu sneered lightly, put her hands together, and clapped.

The next second, just like in a TV drama, a person walked in from outside, followed by a line of employees.

The manager said with a polite smile, “Miss Lin, what can I do for you?”

“Call everyone who is on duty today over here. I’d like to see if they have more people, or if I have more people,” Lin Shu said with a cold laugh.

Only then did the boy realize the seriousness of the situation. He immediately put on a placating smile and said, “This is a misunderstanding. I’ll drink this glass of wine as an apology to you.”

Lin Shu shot him a contemptuous sideways glance.

A smile on her lips, Shen Man quietly watched Lin Shu steal the show.

Lin Shu glared at her, her small face furious. “What are you looking at? You can explain to me now, right?”

“Shushu, can you do me a favor?” Shen Man said with a smile.

“Why should I help you?” Lin Shu retorted haughtily, her gaze falling on Xu Yimeng. “Who is she?”

“…” Shen Man said, “She’s a classmate from our class.”

“Oh, don’t know her,” Lin Shu replied faintly.

Of the classmates in her class, she only knew a small portion, and even fewer by name.

“An heirloom her mother left her was tricked away from her,” Shen Man said, turning her head to look at Jin Sisi. “It’s on her neck.”

Jin Sisi immediately covered the necklace tightly with her hand. “This was a gift from my boyfriend.”

Hearing this, Lin Shu looked at Xu Yimeng and asked, “Is that necklace really yours?”

Xu Yimeng nodded hastily, crying with regret and sadness. “He took it from my bag. I didn’t agree to give it to him.”

“Didn’t you just say you didn’t want it?” Jin Sisi retorted angrily.

The boy looked over, his gaze icy and carrying a warning.

Xu Yimeng was instantly frightened and trembled, cowering.

Lin Shu understood at once. She snorted coldly and said, “How are you like a thief, taking other people’s things without their permission? Don’t you know shame?”

After speaking, she shot a glance at Shen Man.

Shen Man immediately understood that these words were meant to scold her.

The boy was so thoroughly scolded he was put on the spot, his face turning green then red. He gritted his teeth and said, “This is a matter between her and me. It’s none of your business.”

“This Young Miss will manage whatever she wants to manage!” Lin Shu crossed her arms, her expression arrogant. “If you don’t return the necklace today, none of you can even think of leaving here.”

“Your hotel opens its doors for business but makes things difficult for guests. Aren’t you afraid that word will get out and ruin your reputation?” The boy found a point for counterattack and instantly became bold and self-righteous.

“If we can’t stay open, then we’ll just close down. What’s the big deal,” Lin Shu said with a nonchalant expression.

The manager at her side began to break out in a cold sweat. He said in a low voice, “Miss Lin, I will handle this matter. This young lady’s necklace will definitely be returned to her.”

“Alright then, you handle it,” Lin Shu said, her gaze fixed on Shen Man. “You, come out with me and properly explain the matter of the car.”

Shen Man nodded with a light smile, then turned her head to Xu Yimeng and said, “You go wait in the rest area. The necklace will be returned to its rightful owner.”

Xu Yimeng glanced at Lin Shu and obediently walked out.

Lin Shu took Shen Man to the room she had been resting in earlier.

She sat down with an arrogant expression, leaning comfortably against the back of the chair. “You can talk now.”

The young woman’s delicate little face was rosy white, her round almond eyes were bright and spirited, and her slow, deliberate movements were like a proud little cat bestowing a favor upon someone.

If anyone else had been so rude and arrogant, Shen Man would have sneered inwardly and turned up her nose.

But when Lin Shu did it, it was much cuter, making one want to smooth her fur.

“I called you, but you didn’t answer, and you didn’t reply to my message. It was urgent, so I just drove the car away first,” Shen Man said with a smile.

As she spoke, she walked towards Lin Shu.

Lin Shu looked down at her phone and saw that it was turned off. When she looked up again, a shadow had fallen over her.

Her heart tightened, and her body tensed up unconsciously. She reprimanded loudly, “Why are you so close to me? Stand further away.”

A smile played on Shen Man’s lips. She didn’t move.

Placing her hands on the armrests of the chair, she trapped the young woman on the chair in her embrace.

She leaned down, closing in.

Lin Shu felt like her heart was about to stop.

She pursed her lips, turned her head to the side, and warily stared at the approaching face.

In the instant their breaths mingled, Shen Man stopped and asked with a sharp gaze, “You agreed to help because I said it was her mother’s heirloom, right?”

Lin Shu’s small face flushed red. She was instantly flustered, as if her innermost secret had been seen through. She deliberately said in a fierce tone, “What’s it to you? I’ll help if I want to, and I won’t if I don’t want to!”

Shen Man smiled and released her hands.

The pressure around Lin Shu instantly vanished. She immediately stood up from the chair and walked out onto the balcony.

Shen Man found her fleeing back somewhat amusing. She followed her out and said, “Shushu is truly as beautiful as she is kind-hearted, always happy to help others.”

Hearing this, Lin Shu wanted to sneer. Her mouth moved, then pressed tightly together.

She was well aware that most of the girls in the class disliked her.

Of course, she didn’t like those girls either.

Shen Man watched the young woman’s beautiful eyes darken, and could roughly understand the thoughts in them.

Lin Shu’s young-miss attitude resulted in her poor relationships with her classmates. She didn’t have a single good friend, which was why Lin Shu always hung out with those two girls from other classes.

Auntie He had once said that Lin Shu’s mother passed away when Lin Shu was very young, and her father was always busy with his career and neglected her.

Lin Shu had always been lonely.

Deep down, she longed for friends, but her arrogant and unreasonable young-miss persona prevented her from making any close friends.

“What’s with that look? I don’t need your pity,” Lin Shu said viciously, her eyes bright as fire.

Shen Man let out a laugh, retracting the sympathy that had risen in her heart. She said with a smile, “The matter has been cleared up. Can I go now?”

“You still haven’t said where you got the car keys,” Lin Shu said loudly.

“On the glass cabinet in the entryway,” Shen Man replied.

Lin Shu frowned, thought for a moment, and then an expression of sudden realization appeared on her face. She muttered in a low voice, “So that’s where I put it. No wonder I couldn’t find it.”

“Now give me back the keys.”

“But you can’t drive,” Shen Man said calmly.

Lin Shu paused, then her small face puffed up with anger as she changed her tune, “It just so happens I’m tired from shopping. You can drive me back.”

“Okay,” Shen Man agreed with a smile and turned to open the door.

A person was standing outside the door.

Her eyes were red and swollen, and she was tightly clutching a necklace in her hand.

Shen Man glanced at her and showed a gentle smile. “Xu Yimeng, the necklace is back now, everything is fine. You need to take good care of yourself, and don’t do anything foolish.”

“Class Monitor, thank you…” Xu Yimeng was choked with sobs. She wiped her tears with her hand, her gaze turning to Lin Shu inside the room. She said gratefully, “Lin Shu, thank you. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have been able to get this necklace back.”

“I misunderstood you before. I thought you were arrogant and conceited, but you’re actually very helpful.”

Lin Shu snorted, turned her head away, and said nothing.

Shen Man looked back at her.

The base of the young woman’s ears was slightly red, and her beautiful red lips were curved up in a very small arc. It was obvious she was happy inside.

“Thank you both so much. I’m sorry for the trouble,” Xu Yimeng said, bowing deeply.

“No need to be so polite. We’re all classmates, it’s only right that we help each other,” Shen Man said with a light laugh.

Lin Shu watched from behind with a strange expression.

The amiable and approachable Shen Man now was like a completely different person from the one with the sharp gaze just a moment ago.

In class, everyone had a very good opinion of Shen Man.

They all said Shen Man was beautiful and kind, serious and responsible in her work, loved to help others, and was a competent Class Monitor.

But the private Shen Man was not like this at all.

Those eyes that were always smiling could sometimes make one feel a chill, and the smile on her face was often difficult to decipher.

Sometimes, Shen Man was mature beyond her years as a university student.

“Shushu, what are you thinking about?” Shen Man asked with a smile.

Lin Shu immediately came back to her senses, glanced outside the door, and asked, “Where is she?”

“She’s already left,” Shen Man replied, the smile on her lips becoming meaningful. She said slowly, “Being thanked by a classmate, Shushu is actually happy inside, isn’t she?”

“What’s there to be happy about!” Lin Shu snorted and strode out.

Shen Man noticed.

The young woman’s slender fingers were gripping her phone so tightly that the veins on the back of her hand were visible.

A thoughtful look flashed in Shen Man’s eyes as she followed with a smile.

Back in the house.

Lin Shu changed her shoes. The motion of bending over revealed her snow-white little barbarian waist2.

Shen Man stood behind her, watching with a beaming smile.

When Lin Shu had finished changing her shoes, she handed the keys over. “Here you go.”

“Put it back where it was,” Lin Shu said casually, walking towards her room.

Shen Man’s eyes flashed. She stared at the keys in her hand for a moment, a smile appearing on her lips, and put them back in their original place.

Facing Lin Shu’s back, she said with a smile, “Shushu, can I borrow your car to drive again in the future?”

“No!” Lin Shu refused flatly, her face angry. “Don’t even think about using my car to trick other girls.”

Shen Man’s smile immediately grew wider. “I promise I’ll only drive it myself. I won’t give any other girls a ride, only you.”

The last sentence was deliberately spoken in a lower voice, making it sound somewhat ambiguous.

“Absolutely not!” Lin Shu refused quickly and slammed her room door shut with a bang.

Shen Man smiled and went to the kitchen to find Auntie He.

Auntie He was cooking. When she saw Shen Man come in, she hurriedly said, “Manman, you’re back. You don’t need to help here, go watch TV outside.”

“I wanted to chat with you for a bit,” Shen Man said with a smile.

Seeing this, Auntie He knew she had something to say and said with a smile, “Go ahead.”

“I’ve been living here for over a month, but I’ve rarely seen Uncle Lin come over,” Shen Man asked tactfully with a smile.

“Chairman Lin is busy with his career and has no time to come over,” Auntie He said in a low voice, glancing cautiously outside. “Sigh, after so many years, Miss Lin has gotten used to it.”

Towards the end, her words were full of sympathy for Lin Shu.

Shen Man frowned, feeling that something was not quite right.

Logically speaking, since Lin Shu didn’t have a mother, as her father, Chairman Lin should be even more concerned about his own daughter.

Seeing the doubt in Shen Man’s eyes, Auntie He added, “I also heard this from someone, I don’t know if it’s true. Chairman Lin has a son outside, who seems to be in high school already.”

“You must never tell Miss Lin this,” Auntie He urged nervously.

Shen Man nodded, the doubt in her eyes disappearing. She asked again, “Do you know what kind of person Shushu’s mother was?”

“I never met her, so I don’t know much. But I heard people say she was very beautiful, just had a bit of a bad temper,” Auntie He said.

Shen Man nodded, came out of the kitchen, and went back to her room.

Having gotten a general understanding of Lin Shu’s family background from Auntie He, she understood Lin Shu’s personality even more clearly.

Shen Man knew very well in her heart.

All of this was just to shape Lin Shu into this villainous supporting character, to make her a foil for the female lead, so that there would be a traceable reason for her to turn bad later on.

If she could fill the void in Lin Shu’s heart, perhaps she could change Lin Shu.

As long as she could make Lin Shu not so stubbornly in love with the male lead, all problems would be solved as they meet the blade’s edge3.

Shen Man’s lips curled in satisfaction, her eyes filled with complete confidence.

The weather changed abruptly overnight, and the temperature dropped a lot.

Autumn arrived quietly.

The trees by the roadside were half green and half yellow. A gust of autumn wind blew past, sweeping down many yellowed leaves.

Shen Man’s long dress was replaced with a shirt and long pants, and she carried a thin jacket in her school bag to cope with the morning and evening chill.

Lin Shu still wore a short skirt, revealing her pair of straight, snow-white long legs in the bleak autumn wind.

The two of them walked one after the other on campus.

Lin Shu’s thin attire was very conspicuous among the crowd that had already switched to autumn clothes.

People around them cast various gazes.

Lin Shu was used to it. With a smile on her lips, she casually tucked back a strand of hair that had fallen from behind her ear.

Shen Man carried her school bag and walked behind, leisurely admiring the beautiful scenery in front of her.

A figure came running from a side path.

Shen Man looked over and greeted with a smile, “Yin Ruxu, good morning.”

“Good morning, Shen Man. Have you had breakfast?” Yin Ruxu said with a gentle smile, holding two steamed buns in her hand. “Do you want me to share one with you?”

Shen Man smiled and shook her head.

Lin Shu heard the voices, turned her head, and happened to see the scene of the two smiling at each other.

The smile on her face instantly froze. She strode over, swept a disdainful glance at Yin Ruxu, and said arrogantly, “You should keep your steamed buns for yourself.”

“I…” Yin Ruxu lowered her eyes aggrievedly, bit her lip, and asked in a small voice, “Lin Shu, why do you hate me?”

“If it’s because I caused you to get hurt last time, I’ve already apologized. Can’t you forgive me yet?” Her expression became even more aggrieved, and her voice held a hint of a sob.

Lin Shu shot her a sideways glance, her expression becoming even more contemptuous. She said mockingly, “With just you, you think you’re worthy of having ideas about Shao Qi?”

Yin Ruxu lowered her head in embarrassment, her lips pressed tightly together.

Shen Man laughed to ease the atmosphere and said, “The head teacher is looking for me for something. I’ll be going first.”

“Bye-bye,” Yin Ruxu waved, carefully glanced at Lin Shu, and turned to leave in another direction.

A victorious smile appeared on Lin Shu’s face.

Shen Man glanced at her and said with a light laugh, “Shushu, everyone has the right to like someone. If you humiliate Yin Ruxu so mercilessly, she will feel bad.”

“Why are you speaking up for her?” Lin Shu retorted unhappily, her eyes glaring at Shen Man. “The reason she could go to Shao Qi’s birthday party the day before yesterday was because of Luo Wei. Do you know who Luo Wei is?”

She paused, then added, “He’s a famous playboy4 in this circle, changes girlfriends every so often. If Yin Ruxu didn’t have some tricks up her sleeve, she wouldn’t have been able to attend Shao Qi’s birthday party with him.”

Shen Man had seen many such things and naturally understood the meaning behind that ‘cousin’.

She pretended not to understand and said, “Shushu, don’t make things difficult for Yin Ruxu in the future. She’s so pitiful and weak. As classmates, you should help each other.”

“You’re still speaking up for her!” Lin Shu gritted her teeth in anger, glared at Shen Man, and strode away.

Shen Man stood behind, the smile on her face unchanging, and walked towards the head teacher’s office.

The head teacher was organizing materials.

When she saw Shen Man arrive, she stopped and said seriously, “Shen Man, thanks to your timely help with Xu Yimeng this time, nothing happened to her.”

“I thought about it, and I want to take this opportunity to give a lesson to the girls in the class.”

“Teacher, are you thinking of warning everyone not to make friends casually and to protect themselves in relationships?” Shen Man said.

“You’re so smart, you understood my meaning at once,” the head teacher laughed happily and said, “Girls your age have simple minds and no experience in relationships, so it’s easy for them to be deceived by some people with ulterior motives.”

“Some girls are more fragile inside and will lose themselves for love, heading down the wrong path.”

Shen Man nodded in agreement.

“I have a lot of things to deal with during this period. You can talk to the girls in the class on my behalf and tell them to be more vigilant,” the head teacher said. “I will notify them in advance so they can be prepared.”

“Okay,” Shen Man accepted the task.

The head teacher gave Shen Man two days to prepare and scheduled the time for Wednesday afternoon.

Shen Man notified every girl one by one, and basically everyone agreed to attend.

Only Lin Shu was unwilling.

“Why suddenly hold a class meeting? And only asking the girls to go. I can’t be bothered to go,” Lin Shu said, sitting on the sofa, eating fruit, with a reluctant look on her face.

“Shushu, every girl has to participate in this. When the time comes, everyone will go except you. It will make you seem unsociable,” Shen Man persuaded.

“So what if I’m unsociable? It’s not like I want to be sociable with you guys anyway,” Lin Shu said with a nonchalant expression.

Seeing that kind words were not working, Shen Man walked over and sat down next to Lin Shu. She leaned in close and said, “Shushu, this is an activity that all the girls in the class must attend. You must go too.”

The sudden closeness of her breath made Lin Shu’s heart tighten.

She hurriedly put down the fruit in her hand, moved a little to the side, and chided, “If you want to talk, just talk. Why are you so close to me?”

Shen Man smiled, leaned over and pressed closer, and asked in a low voice, “Are you going or not?”

As she spoke, she placed a hand by Lin Shu’s side, and her smiling eyes became deep.

Lin Shu’s heart trembled, her body slightly stiff. She said irritably, “I know, I’ll go.”

“That’s good,” Shen Man smiled in satisfaction, sat up straight, and moved back two steps.

Lin Shu secretly breathed a sigh of relief, her small face showing obvious defiance.

Shen Man saw it and reminded with a smile, “I will notify you separately on that day. Don’t make excuses not to go.”

Her little scheme seen through, Lin Shu pouted and snorted.

Two days passed quickly.

Shen Man prepared the materials she needed.

She went half an hour early to prepare.

Girls came in one after another and sat down.

As she watched, with only two minutes left, only Lin Shu had not yet arrived.

Shen Man’s delicate brows furrowed slightly. She took out her phone to call Lin Shu.

She made several calls in a row, but they all went unanswered.

Shen Man was about to go look for her.

The figure of Lin Shu carrying bubble tea appeared at the door.

Their eyes met.

Lin Shu looked away with a hostile expression.

Shen Man smiled lightly.

When all the girls were seated, she began to talk about today’s topic.

Shen Man used to hold meetings for employees frequently, so she was more than capable of handling such occasions and could speak eloquently without a script.

The girls were very interested in the topic of love and often asked questions, making the classroom atmosphere very lively.

Some of their questions seemed naive, simple, and a bit funny to Shen Man.

Shen Man answered each one of them seriously.

Lin Shu raised her hand.

Shen Man looked over and asked with a smile, “Classmate Lin Shu, do you have any questions?”

“Class Monitor is so proficient in love. How many… partners have you dated?” Lin Shu paused, changing ‘boyfriends’ to ‘partners’.

“Class Monitor is so beautiful, she must have many pursuers.”

“Yeah, is it because you’ve been in love many times that you understand boys so well?”

“It must be.”

The topic gradually shifted from ‘girls should be independent in love’ to ‘how many times has Shen Man been in love’.

The scene was close to getting out of control.

Lin Shu held her chin high, looking at Shen Man with a smug expression, her eyes full of provocation.

Shen Man was not surprised by the current situation.

Her expression remained faint, without a hint of panic.

Lin Shu raised her hand again, her smile joyful. “Class Monitor, why aren’t you answering? Is it because there are too many to remember?”

As soon as she said this, the girls started chattering, even more excited than before.

Shen Man stood on the stage, watching them speculate and discuss with a smile on her face.

Some people’s words became increasingly unpleasant, even reaching the point of insult.

The smile on Shen Man’s face did not diminish in the slightest.

She slammed the blackboard eraser on the desk with force. With a thump, the noisy classroom instantly fell silent.

Lin Shu wanted to speak.

Shen Man shot her a cold look.

Lin Shu’s heart trembled. Her mouth moved a few times, and she swallowed the words that were on the tip of her tongue.

“Everyone, let’s not stray from the topic,” Shen Man said with a smile, her gaze burning as she stared at Lin Shu. “If you are interested in my private affairs, you can find me for a private chat.”

She deliberately emphasized the tone of the last sentence.

Lin Shu uncomfortably turned her head away and took a small sip of her bubble tea.

The other girls sensed Shen Man’s anger and tactfully stopped discussing it.

Without Lin Shu’s disruption, the classroom order was much better.

Shen Man spoke for two hours and then said with a smile, “Today’s topic ends here. Any students who want to know more can find me after class.”

“Okay, Class Monitor.” The girls left one after another.

Only Lin Shu remained seated.

Shen Man packed up her things, stood on the stage, and looked at Lin Shu.

“How many partners have you had? To be so clear about matters of love,” Lin Shu asked first.

She leaned back against the chair, her sitting posture also exuding an air of superiority.

Shen Man smiled slightly and asked back unhurriedly, “Is Shushu that concerned about my affairs?”

“Who’s concerned about you?” Lin Shu immediately retorted, turned her head away, and stood up, saying, “Say it or don’t, it’s not like I want to listen.”

As she spoke, she stood up and walked out.

The back door was closed, so she could only exit through the front door. The podium was a place she had to pass.

Shen Man looked down, her fingers tapping lightly on the desk.

The unique fragrance of the young woman came from behind her. She suddenly turned around, one hand blocking the way.

The two made eye contact.

Lin Shu’s heart skipped a beat. She said loudly, “You, move!”

“Didn’t Shushu want to know how many times I’ve been in love?” Shen Man chuckled lightly, leaned over, their noses almost touching. “You stay, and I’ll tell you slowly.”

Their breaths intertwined.

Lin Shu felt like she couldn’t breathe. She subconsciously stepped back, wanting to get some fresh air.

Her back was against the wall, with no room to retreat.

The light on the podium was not bright, it was dim. Shen Man’s face was hidden in the dimness, and those cool eyes became dangerous.

Lin Shu’s heart beat faster. She tensed up and said, “I’m not interested in your affairs…”

“That’s not what you said in class,” Shen Man chuckled lightly, one hand wrapping around the young woman’s slender waist.

Lin Shu’s heart thumped wildly. She somewhat regretted staying behind.

Shen Man was clearly retaliating for her disruption in class now.

“Hmm?” A pleasant laugh came from Shen Man’s throat.

The beautiful face so close to her carried a sense of pressure. Lin Shu nervously pursed her lips and threatened fiercely, “If you dare to kiss me, I’ll call for help.”

“Is that so?” Shen Man’s breath was like orchids. The hand on her waist tightened.

The young woman’s body leaned forward with this force, and she unconsciously tilted her head up slightly.

Their lips touched.

Shen Man licked her lips, laughed, and said, “You bumped into me yourself. It wasn’t me who initiated the kiss.”

“You…” Lin Shu was both ashamed and angry. She reached out to push away the body in front of her.

A hand grabbed hers.

Shen Man looked down at those moist, soft red lips and gently covered them.

“Mmph mmph…” Lin Shu whimpered, her eyes open as she endured the kiss.

With a bang, the half-closed front door was pushed open.

Shen Man quickly let go of Lin Shu.

A girl walked in, and after her eyes adjusted to the light in the room, she saw the two of them clearly. She asked in confusion, “Class Monitor, why are you two still here?”

“What did you come back for?” Shen Man asked with a smile.

The girl felt an inexplicable chill, and her voice unconsciously lowered. “I forgot my water bottle, I came back to get it.”

As she spoke, she quickly scanned the classroom, got her water bottle, and quickly walked out.

She closed the door on her way out.

The classroom became completely dark.

Lin Shu’s breath hitched. She pursed her lips and ran out quickly.

She ran in such a hurry that she almost fell.

Shen Man stood quietly, not chasing after her. She reached up and rubbed the space between her eyebrows.

She was probably so dazed with anger from those girls’ words that she would kiss Lin Shu here.

However, it was undeniable that her mood was indeed much better.

Shen Man’s lips curled into a smile as she slung her school bag over her shoulder and walked out.

The head teacher sent a message asking about the class meeting.

Shen Man replied, ‘Everything went smoothly, the students were all actively participating.’

She didn’t mention the unexpected incident.

The head teacher praised her with a smile.

Shen Man put away her phone.

Looking up, the yellowed leaves fell with a ‘shua shua’ sound, revealing the bleakness and desolation of autumn everywhere.

Shen Man walked slowly, admiring the campus scenery.

A loud male voice came from behind her, “Shen Man, it really is you. What a coincidence.”

As he spoke, the boy jogged a couple of steps to catch up.

Shen Man turned her head and recognized him as the vice president of the student union, a senior from a higher grade, He Tao5.

She was the Class Monitor and often attended some meetings, so she knew many class monitors from other classes and some senior xuezhang6 and xuejie7.

Shen Man smiled politely and nodded in response.

He Tao said with a smile, “It’s rare to run into you. Let me buy you a bubble tea.”

“Thank you, xuezhang, but I still have to go to the head teacher’s office to submit some materials. Goodbye,” Shen Man politely refused with a smile.

He Tao didn’t give up and continued, “It’s just one bubble tea, it won’t take long. It won’t delay you.”

Shen Man shook her head, maintaining a polite smile, and said no more.

He Tao followed her for a stretch, and seeing that he couldn’t persuade her, he finally gave up.

Shen Man watched the boy’s departing back, the smile on her face turning cold.

She remembered that this boy had a girlfriend, and the two of them had even shown off their affection together in the student union.

Although greeting each other on the road, or even having a bubble tea together, was not a big deal, she could clearly see the thoughts in this boy’s eyes.

Shen Man didn’t want to bother with it, and even felt a bit disgusted.

She stood in place for a while, then turned and walked towards the school gate.

As she passed a road, she inadvertently saw He Tao sitting with his girlfriend.

The two of them were flirting intimately as if no one else was around.

Shen Man frowned and took a different road back.

Back at the Lin family home.

As expected, Lin Shu had not returned.

Shen Man went back to her room and sat on the balcony reading a book.

The sky turned dark.

A message popped up on her phone. It was from Lin Shu.

“Classmate Shen Man, Lin Shu-jie is drunk. Can you come and pick her up?” An address was attached.

“Okay, I’ll be right there,” Shen Man replied instantly, put away her phone, and left with the car keys.

It was rush hour, so the road was a bit congested.

It took Shen Man half an hour to reach the destination.

Shen Man got out of the car and glanced at the name of the hotel.

As expected, it was an industry under the Lin Corporation.

She entered and found the private room where Lin Shu was.

Lin Shu and Yan Jie were drunk. Only Ding Xi was still sober.

“How did she get drunk?” Shen Man walked over and asked.

“Lin Shu-jie was in a bad mood and accidentally drank too much,” Ding Xi explained in a small voice.

“In a bad mood?” Shen Man laughed with an ambiguous meaning and said, “I’ll take it from here. You guys can go first.”

“Okay, sorry to trouble you,” Ding Xi said, helping Yan Jie walk out.

Shen Man sat down next to Lin Shu, looking at the young woman’s flushed cheeks.

Because she was drunk, Lin Shu’s small face was particularly red. Her young, hydrated skin made this shade of red look exceptionally beautiful. Her bright, spirited eyes were shimmering with moisture, becoming much softer.

Her crimson lips were slightly pouted, with a rosy sheen on them, as if stained with wine, exuding an alluring sweetness.

Looking at her, Shen Man suddenly felt her throat go dry.

She pursed her lips, waved her hand in front of Lin Shu’s eyes, and asked, “Shushu, can you still walk?”

Lin Shu blinked her eyes blankly, then curved her lips into a smile.

Suddenly, the expression on her face became mysterious. She looked at Shen Man and said, “I’ll tell you a secret. You can’t tell anyone else.”

Shen Man nodded, waiting for what was next.

Lin Shu extended her slender index finger, placed it on her lips, made a ‘shh’ sound, and then became still again, sitting there blankly.

Shen Man immediately burst out laughing.

As she spoke, she brandished her fists menacingly.

Shen Man gave a cold laugh, reached out, and pinched the young woman’s smooth and delicate face. She said, “How do you plan to kick her out?”

“I haven’t thought of it yet,” Lin Shu frowned in distress.

Shen Man asked again, “Why do you want to kick her out?”

“She’s too annoying, always kissing me…” Lin Shu snorted, her flushed little face looking aggrieved, her eyes shimmering with crystalline moisture.

“How does she kiss you?” Shen Man leaned down, her warm breath brushing against those delicate red lips.

Lin Shu thought about it seriously, looked at the red lips so close to her, and gave a ‘bachi’8 sound as she planted a kiss, saying, “She kisses like this.”

Shen Man instantly stopped in her tracks, as if an electric current had spread through her body.

A wave of heat suddenly rose within her, and all the blood in her body rushed to her head.

She swallowed hard, suppressing the surging emotions, and said in a deep voice, “You be good, don’t provoke me!”

Lin Shu blinked her eyes in confusion. After a moment, she started singing in a monotone, “Shen Man is an annoying ghost…”

Shen Man, “…”
