I Am More Paranoid Than the Villain – Chapter 150

It’s an Extra Chapter

Yin and Xia END

Marriage and Getting the Certificate

It wasn’t even seven o’clock when a knock sounded on the peeling front door.

Yin Ruxu was folding a quilt in the bedroom when she heard the sound and came out immediately.

She glanced at the kitchen where Xia Ke was making breakfast.

“Xiao Ke, I’ll get the door,” Yin Ruxu said, walking toward the entryway.

She opened the door to find a middle-aged couple standing outside.

The man was tall and handsome, with a serious face and pale blue eyes remarkably similar to Xia Ke’s. The woman beside him was dressed elegantly, a smile on her beautiful face that was undiminished by the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes.

“Where’s Xiao Ke?” the woman asked with a smile, her gaze sweeping over Yin Ruxu, her curiosity unconcealed. “I hear you’re Xiao Ke’s girlfriend?”

Yin Ruxu’s heart clenched. “My name is Yin Ruxu,” she said quickly. “Xiao Ke is in the kitchen.”

She respectfully stepped aside to let them in.

The woman, beaming, entered with her arm linked through the man’s.

Nervous and uneasy, Yin Ruxu followed them in. She quickly poured two cups of tea, placed them before the couple, and said, “Uncle, Auntie, please have some tea.”

“Thank you,” the woman said with a smile, sitting down with the man.

Yin Ruxu stood to the side, her body ramrod straight.

The kitchen was clearly visible from the living room.

The woman picked up her tea and took a small sip. She glanced at the man and said, “Our Xiao Ke actually knows how to cook! Quick, take a video.”

“Okay,” the man said, his expression serious as he took out his phone and started filming Xia Ke.

Xia Ke came out carrying a bowl of porridge, her expression cold as she stared at the man. “Why are you here so early?”

“Your mother said she missed you,” Father Xia replied quickly, sharing the video he’d just taken with Mother Xia. “Look, isn’t Xiao Ke adorable?”

Mother Xia nodded repeatedly, her smile never fading.

Xia Ke sat down, her face impassive. “You’ve seen enough. You can go now.”

At this, Mother Xia looked aggrieved. “Xiao Ke, aren’t you going to introduce this pretty little doll?”

Hearing herself mentioned, Yin Ruxu’s fingertips trembled with nerves. She looked at Xia Ke, her eyes filled with a panic and anticipation she hadn’t realized was there.

“This is Ah Xu. We’re living together now,” Xia Ke said, her tone cool.

Yin Ruxu pressed her lips together, feeling a pang of disappointment but knowing she shouldn’t be too greedy.

“Xiao Xu, is it? Come, sit down. Don’t be so formal,” Mother Xia said with a smile, reaching out to pull Yin Ruxu down beside her.

Filled with trepidation, Yin Ruxu couldn’t help but look at Xia Ke.

“You’re so beautiful. Your delicate and fragile appearance is just so endearing,” Mother Xia praised, reaching out to pinch Yin Ruxu’s cheek.

Yin Ruxu flinched, her body freezing in place.

“A young person’s skin is so tender. It’s so soft to the touch,” Mother Xia said happily.

Before she could finish, Xia Ke slapped her hand away. Mother Xia blinked, looking hurt. “But she’s so cute.”

“She’s not a child. Stop getting so handsy1,” Xia Ke said sternly, wrapping her arms tightly around Yin Ruxu as if afraid someone would snatch her away.

Yin Ruxu froze for a moment, then carefully wrapped her arms around Xia Ke’s slender waist and leaned against her.

“Xiao Xu, when are you two planning to get married?” Mother Xia asked with a smile, her voice laced with excitement.

Before Yin Ruxu could answer, she continued, her words weighty and long2. “Xiao Ke is no longer a child3. At her age, I was already a mother of two. A career is important, of course, but marriage is a major event too. If you have time, you should go abroad to get the marriage certificate4. Don’t worry about the wedding; if you trust me, her father and I can take care of everything.”

Father Xia nodded with a solemn expression.

Yin Ruxu tilted her head, completely bewildered.

Xia Ke looked at the silent woman in her arms, her heart leaping into her throat.

After a long silence, Yin Ruxu’s gaze fell. “You… you don’t mind my background?” she asked in a small voice, her fingers clutching Xia Ke’s sleeve, her eyes filled with unease.

“Her father and I don’t care about such trivial things, as long as Xiao Ke is happy. This child’s heart’s eye is dead5; she’s incredibly stubborn.” Mother Xia sighed, bowing her head to wipe away non-existent tears. “I have four children, and not a single one is married. Every time I go to someone else’s child’s wedding, I’m so envious, always wondering when it will be our family’s turn.”

“So, are you willing to help this Auntie’s wish come true?”

Yin Ruxu looked at Xia Ke.

“I have no objections,” Xia Ke said, the tips of her ears turning red.

Yin Ruxu’s heart nearly stopped. Trembling, she hugged Xia Ke tightly as tears streamed down her face. She bit her lip, trying to stifle her sobs.

“Since neither of you has any objections, why don’t our two families meet tomorrow to discuss the marriage?” Mother Xia said happily.

“I grew up in an orphanage. I don’t have any parents,” Yin Ruxu said through her tears.

“You poor child,” Mother Xia said, her heart aching. “In that case, Xiao Ke’s father and I will make the decision.”

“You two will go abroad to get the marriage certificate today, and the wedding will be tomorrow.”

Yin Ruxu froze, her tears stopping in shock. She looked at Xia Ke, at a complete loss, as if she’d understood but also hadn’t.

“My mom is a bit impatient,” Xia Ke explained. She paused. “If you don’t want to…”

“I don’t not want to,” Yin Ruxu said quickly, lowering her head, her voice dropping. “It’s just… everything is so sudden. It feels like a dream.”

“Then it’s settled! The plane tickets are already booked for you,” Mother Xia said cheerfully.

“When were they booked?” Yin Ruxu asked, still dazed.

“Xiao Ke’s father just booked them,” Mother Xia laughed, her eyes full of anticipation. “I’ll definitely throw you the grandest wedding imaginable.”

She then turned to Father Xia beside her and began discussing the wedding details.

Yin Ruxu blinked, clearly still processing everything.

Xia Ke stood up and led Yin Ruxu back to the bedroom.

“My parents are always like this, like children,” Xia Ke said, feeling a little embarrassed.

Yin Ruxu shook her head gently, a soft smile on her face. “Uncle and Auntie are very sweet. They don’t look down on me…”

“Don’t say things like that anymore. My parents… they like you a lot,” Xia Ke said earnestly, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. “They watch your shows all the time.”

Hearing this, Yin Ruxu grew shy, a mix of nervous and happy. “Really? I might not be a very good actress. I hope I didn’t disappoint them.”

“You didn’t,” Xia Ke replied firmly. She thought for a moment. “My parents have always wanted a daughter, so sometimes their enthusiasm can be a bit overwhelming.”

“Uncle and Auntie are wonderful,” Yin Ruxu said with a light laugh. “They’re the best parents I’ve ever met.”

Xia Ke hummed in agreement, feeling herself relax.

Receiving the certificate and getting married happened at lightning speed, so fast that Yin Ruxu could hardly believe it and the outside world was left stunned.

Xia Ke, being very familiar with her parents’ style, accepted everything with a calm expression.

The day after the wedding, they moved into a luxury villa gifted by Mother Xia.

Yin Ruxu sat on the bed, staring blankly ahead.

“What’s wrong?” Xia Ke asked, sitting up. She hugged Yin Ruxu from behind, placing a kiss on her fair, smooth skin.

“Xiao Ke, I feel like I’m dreaming. I’m so scared I’ll suddenly wake up and all of this will be gone,” Yin Ruxu said, dazed, her eyes filled with panic.

Xia Ke chuckled softly and took Yin Ruxu’s hand. Their matching rings clinked together with a crisp sound.

Yin Ruxu snapped back to reality. Her eyes reddened, and she hugged Xia Ke tightly.

If she had never met Xia Ke, her miserable life, the end of which she could see all too clearly, would have likely spiraled into ruin. Xia Ke’s appearance not only saved her from the darkness but also gave her a bright, warm home, turning her bitter life sweet.

“Ah Xu, let’s get some sleep. I have to go to work tomorrow,” Xia Ke said, a hint of resignation in her voice.

Yin Ruxu nodded obediently.

After nearly half a year away, Xia Ke returned to the company.

After a busy morning, she finally had a moment to rest. The first thing she did was call Yin Ruxu.

“Wife, was filming tiring today?” Xia Ke asked with a smile.

“I only shot one scene, so it wasn’t tiring,” Yin Ruxu replied in a low voice, a happy smile spreading across her face. “What about you?”

“I’m doing okay. I’ll come pick you up after I finish up this afternoon,” Xia Ke said.

“Okay. I have to go film now, so I’ll talk to you later,” Yin Ruxu said reluctantly. She traced her wedding ring with her fingertip, her face blushing as she blew a kiss at the phone.

Xia Ke couldn’t help but laugh, the morning’s exhaustion vanishing in an instant.

She gazed at the wedding ring on her hand, then rallied her spirits and got back to work.

The sooner she finished, the sooner she could go pick up her wife and bring her home.
