Extra Chapter Two
What if Shen Man and Lin Shu returned to reality
Soothing music played inside the private room.
The soft lighting swayed, creating a sense of unreality.
Shen Man sat down with a faint smile, her eyes lowered as she poured the tea.
“Where’s President Xu?” she asked as she poured.
“What? Am I, the Eldest Young Miss of the Lin Family, not worthy of dining with President Shen?” Lin Shu demanded, her arms crossed over her chest and her face full of arrogance.
“I was just asking,” Shen Man explained with a gentle smile, placing the teacup in front of Lin Shu.
Lin Shu snorted and pushed the teacup aside.
Her gaze fixed on Shen Man as she commanded, “Come here.”
Shen Man obediently leaned closer.
Just as she was about to speak, her cheek was pinched by a small, soft hand.
“So this is what you look like,” Lin Shu said excitedly, her fingers tracing Shen Man’s features. “You’re not bad,” she added, her tone grudging.
Her smile grew wider as she spoke.
Shen Man felt a bit helpless, letting Lin Shu knead her face like a new toy.
“You’re 27?” Lin Shu asked, a hint of surprise in her eyes.
Shen Man made an “en” sound.
“I’m only 22. You’re a full five years older than me.” Lin Shu held up a hand, heavily emphasizing her point.
Shen Man immediately grasped her hand. A faint smile touched her lips as she said in a low voice, “Perfect. You can call me Jiejie.”
That one word, “Jiejie,” seemed to hold infinite ambiguity.
Then, she kissed those arrogant, delicate red lips.
Lin Shu froze for a moment before quickly reacting, wrapping her arms around Shen Man’s neck and proactively deepening the kiss.
They didn’t stop until they were both breathless.
Shen Man took a deep breath and pulled Lin Shu into her arms.
“Are you adjusting to this world?” she asked softly.
Lin Shu’s lips were slightly parted as she took small gasps for air, her fair cheeks flushed crimson.
She leaned obediently into Shen Man’s embrace. Listening to the rapid heartbeat, she whispered, “It’s okay.”
“If we can’t return to our original world, would you be willing to stay here?” Shen Man asked, her expression more serious than ever before.
“It doesn’t matter. In any world, I’m still the Eldest Young Miss of the Lin Family,” Lin Shu said proudly.
Hearing this, Shen Man smiled, her mood brightening.
She lowered her head and kissed that small, arrogant face.
“I heard you’re quite famous in this circle. That you’ve had a lot of girlfriends.” Lin Shu suddenly grew serious, her eyes staring coldly at Shen Man. “And that you prefer the gentle and well-behaved type.”
Shen Man’s heart tightened. “En,” she answered truthfully.
“Then why do you like me?” Lin Shu’s eyes widened in anger, her cheeks puffed out. “I’m not gentle at all!”
Shen Man smiled and reached out to rub Lin Shu’s head. “Shushu is Shushu,” she said dotingly. “You’re one of a kind.”
Lin Shu’s expression softened slightly at her words.
She let out a coy “heng.” “I was always one of a kind.”
Shen Man chuckled.
After dinner, Shen Man drove Lin Shu home.
Just as they arrived downstairs, a figure blocked the front of the car.
Lin Shu raised an eyebrow. “Your ex-girlfriend?” she asked coldly.
“I’ll handle it,” Shen Man said, getting out of the car with a cold expression.
When Lin Qing saw Shen Man, she immediately burst into tears. “Who is this woman? You brought her back so late! Did you plan on driving me away all along?”
“Miss Lin, please stop making a scene,” Shen Man said coldly. “With the time you’re wasting, you could be thinking about how to pay me back.”
“I loved you so much, but you hooked up with another woman! You’re the one who betrayed our love!” Lin Qing shrieked sorrowfully before squatting on the ground and bursting into loud sobs.
Shen Man frowned impatiently.
Hearing this, Lin Shu threw open the car door.
She stormed over to Shen Man’s side and snapped, “I’m not a Little Three1!”
“You’re the one who destroyed our relationship!” Lin Qing accused through her tears.
Shen Man’s impatience grew. She gave Lin Qing a cold look. “This has nothing to do with Shushu, so don’t spout nonsense. And if you want proof of you and Cheng Wan leaving tracks2, I can have it for you by tomorrow.”
Lin Qing was stunned speechless.
When she recovered, she stammered, “I didn’t leave the tracks…”
Shen Man didn’t want to argue any further. She took Lin Shu’s hand and led her inside.
Lin Shu glanced back at the woman sitting limply on the ground, a fierce look slowly appearing in her eyes.
She let out a sneer and arrogantly turned away.
Shen Man’s house only had one person’s belongings, making it feel empty.
Lin Shu looked around before sitting on the sofa. “It’s a bit small.”
Shen Man couldn’t help but laugh. She cut up a plate of fruit and set it on the coffee table.
She sat down next to her. “I’m just an ordinary entrepreneur. I can’t compare to a wealthy and influential family like the Lins.”
“Of course not,” Lin Shu said, pouting her lips in an arrogant smile.
Shen Man smiled and offered her a piece of fruit.
She wasn’t angry at Lin Shu’s words.
Lin Shu had always been an Eldest Young Miss worth a thousand gold3 who had lived a life of respect and superiority4. To her, this house really was a bit small. She was just stating her opinion, not mocking or complaining.
“Shushu, I just got back from the hospital, so there are no new toiletries. I’ll go downstairs and buy a set,” Shen Man said.
“Okay.” Lin Shu nodded, biting into a piece of fruit as she picked up the remote to watch TV.
Not long after Shen Man left, the front door opened.
“You’re back already?” Lin Shu stood up and walked toward the entryway.
Before she could finish her sentence, she saw it was a strange woman. Her expression immediately turned cold. “Shen Man’s out. What are you doing here?”
“Man-jie bought this house for me. It’s our home,” Lin Qing said, adopting the tone of a hostess.
Lin Shu’s eyes narrowed in displeasure. She leaned against the wall and said disdainfully, “Shen Man already kicked you out. How do you still have the face to show up here?”
Lin Qing’s face turned ashen with rage. She gritted her teeth. “Don’t get complacent. Man-jie would never like a woman like you.”
“I know. She likes the gentle and well-behaved type,” Lin Shu said arrogantly.
Lin Qing was speechless for a moment before she continued, “Good, as long as you know. She’ll get tired of a shrewish, willful woman like you soon enough. Just you wait until she abandons you.”
“You seem to have misunderstood something.” Lin Shu laughed coldly, her eyes filled with contempt.
“What?” Lin Qing couldn’t help but ask.
“I don’t need to rely on Shen Man to buy me a house, and I certainly don’t need to curry favor with her,” Lin Shu said proudly.
“You…” Lin Qing was instantly speechless with jealousy.
“Besides, if I get tired of this little game, I’ll be the one dumping Shen Man, not the other way around.” Lin Shu finished with a smug curl of her lips.
“Is that so?” Shen Man’s low voice came from the doorway.
An inexplicable fear gripped Lin Shu’s heart, and the smile on her face froze instantly.
Hearing the voice, Lin Qing’s expression immediately shifted to one of fragility as she turned. “Man-jie, you heard her! She’s just toying with your feelings!”
“This has nothing to do with you. Get out!” Shen Man snapped, her beautiful eyes as cold as ice.
Terrified, Lin Qing fled.
Shen Man casually closed the door and set the bag she was holding on the cabinet.
“What’s with that expression?” Lin Shu asked, her voice unconsciously dropping.
“What did you just say?” Shen Man questioned coldly, advancing on her step by step.
Lin Shu backed away, not noticing the corner behind her.
She let out an “ah” as she started to fall.
With fast eyes and quick hands5, Shen Man caught her, holding her tightly in an embrace.
Staring down at her face, Shen Man said seriously, “Say what you just said one more time.”
Her voice wasn’t loud, but it exploded like thunder in Lin Shu’s ears.
Lin Shu guiltily averted her eyes, refusing to speak.
Shen Man gave a cold laugh and carried the soft body in her arms back to the bedroom.
She placed her on the bed. “I’ve already replaced everything in this room.”
Hearing this, Lin Shu’s heart filled with joy.
She lay back comfortably and said stubbornly, “Anyway, I’m the only one who gets to dump you. If you even think about it, you’d better be ready for a lesson.”
“Shushu, you’re the one who’s about to be taught a lesson,” Shen Man said, slowly leaning down.
Lin Shu raised an unconvinced eyebrow. She leaned in and bit Shen Man’s lip, a gleam of arrogance in her eyes. “We’ll see who’s teaching who a lesson.”
“Is that so?” Shen Man laughed, her gaze turning fiery.
Lin Shu’s heart began to race.
The temperature in the room gradually rose, punctuated by occasional, suppressed sounds.
Lin Shu’s fair skin was covered in ambiguous red marks. She leaned lazily against the headboard and said faintly, “Shen Man, you’re still a bit old. Not as good as her.”
Hearing this, Shen Man gave her slender waist a light pinch.
Lin Shu immediately laughed until her flowering branches trembled violently6. She leaned in to hug Shen Man intimately and whispered, “Do you want to be in this world, or mine?”
“Which do you prefer?” Shen Man asked in return, her gaze gentle.
“I… like them both,” Lin Shu said softly. After a moment of silence, her arrogance returned. “Anyway, it doesn’t matter which world we’re in. You can’t escape me.”
Shen Man chuckled. “You’re the one who can’t escape,” she said in a low voice.
Lin Shu understood her meaning. Her small face flushed red as her smile grew wider and wider.
She squinted, her expression relaxed and happy.
“Let’s get some sleep. Maybe we’ll be back when we wake up,” Shen Man said softly.
“We have to hold hands while we sleep!” Lin Shu declared, gripping Shen Man’s hand tightly. “If we do go back, we have to go back together!”
“You can’t leave me behind!” she said, her eyes welling up.
“Okay.” Shen Man agreed with a gentle smile, then leaned over to press a kiss to Lin Shu’s forehead. “Shushu is so cute. How could I ever bear to leave you?”
Lin Shu let out another coy “heng,” curling up in Shen Man’s embrace.
As the night deepened, Lin Shu’s breathing grew steady.
Feeling the soft, petite body in her arms, Shen Man fell asleep, completely content.
A ray of sunlight streamed into the room as Lin Shu opened her eyes.
She surveyed her surroundings. When she saw the familiar furnishings, she excitedly shook Shen Man awake. “We’re back!”
“En, we came back together.” Shen Man chuckled, her eyes full of doting affection.
Lin Shu laughed happily. She jumped out of bed, ran over to pull open the curtains, and basked in the morning sun.
Shen Man sat up, feeling calm.
Lin Shu preferred this world, the one she had grown up in. As for Shen Man, she liked any world, as long as Lin Shu was in it.
