For The Rest Of Our Life – Chapter 42

Insideā€¦ not wearing clothes

After returning home from the gym, Lin Xian and Xiao Wanqing, as usual, each went back to their rooms to bathe.

In the bathroom, Lin Xian took off her clothes, stood under the shower, and turned on the hot water. The water flowed from her back, washing away the chill from her body. She squeezed some shower gel, rubbed it between her hands, and applied it, caressing her slender shoulders, all the way down until her flat abdomen…

Unexplainably, in her mind, echoed the joking words of Wen Tong and Xiao Wanqing from the gym.

“Shall I come and touch you again?”

Aunt Xiao, has a toned figure… she pondered in her heart once again.

In the summer, she had seen Xiao Wanqing’s bare arms, delicate and firm, with smooth lines, but lacking the intentionally sculpted muscularity. Later, after gaining some understanding of fitness, she found that Xiao Wanqing did not deliberately restrain herself in her daily diet. So, although she knew Xiao Wanqing was into fitness, she always thought that Xiao Wanqing’s focus was more on overall health and fitness.

Little did she expect that beneath Xiao Wanqing’s delicate and graceful appearance, there was such a stunning power and beauty.

Lin Xian stood a bit closer, tilted her head back, closed her eyes, letting the water wet her face.

Gradually, in her mind, the gentle and graceful face of Xiao Wanqing emerged, along with her tall and slender figure, and the delicate aura that surrounded her, an aura that made one want to protect.

Then, the scene gradually changed. She saw Xiao Wanqing in the gym, wearing a short sports bra that could be worn outside, leisurely and meticulously doing warm-up exercises. Her waist was slender, as if it could be held in one hand, arms raised high, revealing the fair and tight abdomen with a defined v-line. Turning to the side, her back revealed a sexy groove, and there was a faint, alluring hint of a shallow waist dimple…

Lin Xian couldn’t help but flick her hand and turned off the hot water. After a moment, she changed direction, opened it again, and in an instant, the hot water turned cool, cold water… pouring down.

Xiao Wanqing had finished her bath, just blow-dried her hair, leaning on the bed casually flipping through a magazine, when she heard light footsteps at the door. As expected, not long after, Lin Xian’s clean and clear smiling face appeared in front of her.

It seemed like she had just finished showering, with slightly damp hair, wearing a loose short-sleeved T-shirt and shorts. She leaned in and asked Xiao Wanqing, “Aunt Xiao, can I come in?”

Xiao Wanqing slightly frowned, put down the magazine, sat up straight and looked towards the door, nervously saying, “Why aren’t you wearing a coat? Come in quickly, be careful not to catch a cold.”

Lin Xian got the permission, happily ran towards Xiao Wanqing’s bed, and said with a smile, “The windows at home are closed, it’s not cold, no worries.”

However, Xiao Wanqing was still worried. As soon as Lin Xian arrived at her bedside, she reached out without hesitation, brought Lin Xian into her blanket. Later, she took a blanket from the side and carefully draped it over Lin Xian, saying helplessly, “You, really make people worry.”

As Lin Xian felt warmth enveloping her, her heart softened even more. She leaned her head on Xiao Wanqing’s shoulder and coquettishly said, “This way, Aunt Xiao, you’ll care more about me.”

Xiao Wanqing playfully tapped her nose and indulgently said, “Are you blaming me for not caring enough about you usually?”

Lin Xian giggled and didn’t answer. Her gaze shifted to the tie of Xiao Wanqing’s robe around her waist, and inside, an irresistible desire started to stir…

After a while, she made up her mind. She moved away from Xiao Wanqing’s shoulder, knelt up, and with a soft tone, said, “Aunt Xiao, I found something when I was showering just now, wuwuwu…”

Xiao Wanqing turned her head to look at her, her smile tinged with confusion. “Hmm?”

Lin Xian gently lifted her thin nightgown, revealing the flat and fair belly of the young girl. Blushing, she asked, “Aunt Xiao, do you think I have a little belly?”

The girl half-knelt on Xiao Wanqing’s bed, her short sleep shorts unable to hide her slender and fair legs. She was wearing Xiao Wanqing’s blanket, and her clothes had been pulled up too high, with the lace edge of her bra faintly visible, exposing her flat and delicate belly…

Her gaze towards Xiao Wanqing was watery, her bright face still flushed from just having taken a bath. She was shy and charming, her long hair scattered, and the blanket had slipped off due to her vigorous movement, causing her T-shirt to be pulled askew. Her fragrant shoulders were partially exposed.

It seemed as if it blended the innocence and liveliness of a little girl with the youthful charm of a young woman.

Xiao Wanqing’s heartbeat seemed to inexplicably skip a beat…

Subconsciously, she averted her face, unable to meet Lin Xian’s gaze. She leaned slightly to the side, creating some distance between them, and stammered, “No, it’s fine…”

However, Lin Xian seemed oblivious to the situation. There was a mischievous glint in her eyes as she took a kneeling step forward, leaning in close to Xiao Wanqing’s delicate ear. With a coy smile, she asked, “Aunt Xiao, can I take a look at your little v-line?”

Her warm breath grazed Xiao Wanqing’s already blushing ear…

After Lin Xian’s birthday weekend, the following week on Friday night, they had their first major exam since starting their freshman year: the midterm exam for calculus.

Lin Xian, Chen Zhi, Tang Mo, and Shi Man had made plans for the week. Besides their regular class schedule, they were supposed to go to the library together to review their coursework during the daytime.

However, Shi Man was acting very strangely, unusually so. Early Monday morning, during self-study, Shi Man was absent. Lin Xian found it odd and asked the deputy class monitor, who confirmed that they had not received any leave notice from Shi Man. Worried, Lin Xian sent Shi Man a text message inquiring why she hadn’t come to self-study, but the message went unanswered.

Even during the second class, Shi Man was nowhere to be seen. Unable to contain her concern, Lin Xian called her, only to discover that Shi Man’s phone was switched off. Restless, Lin Xian recalled the atmosphere during that game and the moment when she had escorted Shi Man downstairs, sensing an undercurrent between Shi Man and Xia Zhijin.

Could something have happened?

Lin Xian abruptly stood up from her seat and quickly walked out of the classroom. Tang Mo, bewildered, called out to her, “Lin Xian, where are you going? Class is about to start,” but Lin Xian paid no attention.

Just as she ran out of the classroom, she caught sight of Xia Zhijin’s slender figure in the corridor.

Lin Xian hurriedly halted her steps, and Xia Zhijin also stopped. They exchanged a glance and silently walked together to the corner of the balcony on the right side of the corridor.

Lin Xian had rushed out with the intention of finding Xia Zhijin. She turned her head to look at Xia Zhijin and keenly noticed that Xia Zhijin’s emotions seemed unusually off today. There was a deep exhaustion permeating her entire being, and within her typically cool and indifferent countenance, there was a hint of indissolvable melancholy. Lin Xian hesitated for a moment and worriedly asked, “Zhijin, why didn’t Manman come to class today? I sent her a text, but she didn’t reply, and when I called her, I found her phone was switched off.”

Xia Zhijin’s hand, resting on the balcony railing, tightened slightly, and her voice sounded hoarse as she replied, “I don’t know either.” Lin Xian noticed that Xia Zhijin’s thin lips, already dry and pale, took on a pitiful hue as she pressed them against her delicate teeth. After a long pause, she struggled to speak, “On Sunday morning, Shi Man received a call from her mother, and they had an argument. After that, she left and didn’t come back all night. I haven’t been able to contact her.”

“I came to the school a little after five, and I’ve been sitting at the entrance of the college waiting until now, but I haven’t seen her. That’s when I realized she didn’t come to class either…” Xia Zhijin turned her head, her expression filled with sadness, and implored Lin Xian, “I came to find you because I thought if Manman had contacted you, please let me know. I… I’m really worried about her.”

Without hesitation, Lin Xian nodded and agreed to Xia Zhijin’s request. She hesitated for a moment before asking, “Did something happen between you and Manman?” Shi Man cared about Xia Zhijin so much that she wouldn’t just disregard her and run away from home for no reason.

Xia Zhijin let out a bitter smile and said, “Nothing happened.” It was precisely because nothing happened, because nothing could happen, sigh…

Seeing Xia Zhijin’s distressed appearance, Lin Xian didn’t dare to ask any further.

Fortunately, during the third class, Shi Man replied to Lin Xian’s message, telling her, “I’m fine. I’ve just been in a bad mood these past two days and didn’t feel like going to class. Let me know the rehearsal schedule, time, and location, and I’ll come directly to meet you.” Shi Man was playing the lead role in the psychological drama they were preparing.

(If you're not reading on littlepandatranslations.com, it means this has been stolen)

Initially, it was just a joke for Shi Man to try saying the lines awkwardly. However, unexpectedly, Shi Man performed exceptionally well, and Lin Xian immediately insisted that she take on the role. Even Shi Man herself self-deprecatingly remarked that it was quite convincing for someone without a father to portray a deep father-daughter relationship. She wonders what her mom would think if she saw it.

Concerned about Shi Man, Lin Xian received a message. After a brief thought, she sent a message to the male classmate playing the role of the father in the psychological drama, asking if he had time during lunch to rehearse a few scenes with Shi Man alone and familiarize themselves with the new lines. After receiving the classmate’s agreement, she informed Shi Man, “Let’s rehearse for a while in the courtyard at 12:30 noon.”

Shi Man quickly replied with a confirmation.

Lin Xian hesitated for a moment and notified Xia Zhijin, “Shi Man will come to the courtyard around 12:30 noon for rehearsal. Senior, please come around 1:00 pm, and after rehearsal, I’ll keep her occupied.” She felt a bit uneasy, fearing that Shi Man might get angry at her for disclosing the information, but Xia Zhijin’s melancholic appearance made her feel reluctant. Shi Man liked Xia Zhijin so much that she probably wouldn’t want to see Xia Zhijin sad and upset either, right?

At 12:30 noon, Shi Man arrived on time for the appointment. She was wearing a turtleneck sweater that was noticeably different from her usual style, with a knee-length wool coat and slender high heels. Her makeup, compared to before, was both lighter and more sophisticated. Suddenly, she seemed to have matured a few years, inexplicably exuding a bit of a sophisticated aura. Fortunately, apart from looking more profound and slightly less cheerful than usual, her expression seemed quite energetic.

Lin Xian teased her, “It was my birthday on Friday, or was it yours? How come it looks like you’ve aged several years all of a sudden?”

Shi Man, who had initially pursed her lips in slight displeasure, suddenly brightened up and jokingly said, “That doesn’t sound like a compliment at all.” She spread her arms and twirled in front of Lin Xian, answering her own question, “Do I not look good in this? It’s borrowed from my sister who runs a bar. I think it’s nice to change styles occasionally.”

Lin Xian continued teasing her, “How many good sisters do you actually have?”

However, as soon as the words left Lin Xian’s mouth, the smile on Shi Man’s lips disappeared in an instant. Lin Xian finally realized that she seemed to have stepped on a landmine…

Just in time, the male classmate playing the father’s role arrived, and Lin Xian quickly handed the script to Shi Man, changing the subject, “Sun Qi is here. Shi Man, take a look at the script first. There are a few lines that have been modified.”

Shi Man softly responded with an “Okay” and didn’t voice any objections.

Twenty minutes later, Shi Man and Sun Qi rehearsed several times, and their lines and movements became much more synchronized. Lin Xian felt it was almost enough and let Sun Qi go for lunch break.

Lin Xian and Shi Man sat together on the stone chairs beside the stone table in the courtyard, basking in the warm sun and taking a rest. Shi Man lazily rested her head on the table, casually asking Lin Xian, “Any progress with Aunt Xiao?”

Lin Xian was in the middle of drinking water and was suddenly choked. She coughed repeatedly, her face turning red.

Shi Man looked at her disheveled appearance without a trace of sympathy and chuckled softly, “Come on, you dare to think but can’t handle someone mentioning it?”

Blushing, Lin Xian angrily dismissed her, “Go away, there’s no progress to speak of.”

Shi Man squinted her eyes and looked at the sun shining brightly in the sky. She said in a soft voice, “For example, holding hands, hugging waists, kissing…”

Before she could finish her sentence, Lin Xian interrupted her anxiously, “You have such wicked thoughts!! You’re the successor of socialism, for goodness’ sake!! Disgusting! Vulgar!”

Shi Man glanced at her sideways, disdainfully saying, “You didn’t think about it? Well, you really lack ambition.”

Lin Xian immediately felt guilty.

In reality, she had thought about it.

But that day, in the end, Xiao Wanqing didn’t show her little v-line.

(If you're not reading on littlepandatranslations.com, it means this has been stolen)

Initially, she was almost successful. Xiao Wanqing had already lowered her head, reached out, and gently pulled the tie of her robe. She even slightly opened the front of the robe. However, in the end, she suddenly had a change of heart.

“There… I’m not wearing anything inside.” Suddenly, she tightly hugged her robe, as if she had been absent-minded all along and only just woke up at that moment. Her face turned crimson in an instant.

Lin Xian looked at Xiao Wanqing’s shy expression, and in her heart, it felt like a little person was screaming, “So adorable! Ah, why are you so cute!”

That night, she replayed in her mind the image of Xiao Wanqing untying the robe’s tie, her bashful demeanor cycling endlessly. Excitedly, she hugged her pillow and planted several kisses on it. Now, just recalling the scene made her blush and smile inexplicably.

Seeing Lin Xian’s absent-minded expression, Shi Man snapped her fingers in front of her, becoming interested. “Lin Xian, no way, what are you thinking? Your face is so red!”

Lin Xian immediately suppressed her infatuated smile. She was about to deny it when she noticed Shi Man’s expression suddenly turn chilly, and her face instantly darkened.

Following Shi Man’s gaze, Lin Xian looked and saw Xia Zhijin calmly walking towards them.

Lin Xian quickly used an excuse, saying, “I’ll go to the restroom first,” and tactfully left the space for the two of them.
