Plan A
Gift of the Spring Breeze 6
Traveling Together
Ling Zhi successfully clung to Su Xin and would frequently want to pull or touch her.
Su Xin merely thought that this ghostly young lady had been confined for too long and had developed issues, thus becoming very dependent on her.
“Keep it on your hand, and I will always be by your side. When it rains, I can turn it into an umbrella.”
Ling Zhi took off her bracelet and placed it on Su Xin’s wrist.
Su Xin touched the string of beads and nodded.
Actually, neither of them needed to sleep, but Su Xin felt that without sleeping, there wasn’t much else to do. So, she lay on the rooftop to continue what she had been doing before being interrupted.
Ling Zhi watched her with closed eyes, thought for a moment, and then slipped into the bracelet. After all, this item was always on her hand, only needing to touch when transforming into a shape. If she was within an object, it was enough for Su Xin to be in contact with the object.
The next day at dawn, Su Xin returned from the rooftop to Qin Yi’s room.
“Good morning, young master.”
“Good morning.”
Qin Yi was washing up and was already accustomed to the sudden appearance of Su Xin.
After all, this pear blossom demon always acts this way, popping out from various places without a word, so Qin Yi just regarded her as a naughty little child.
“What about that ghostly young lady? Did she return?”
“She’s in here. It’s inconvenient for ghosts to appear in the daytime; they cannot see the sun.”
Su Xin shook her hand.
Qin Yi was stunned, thinking that what she said seemed correct, probably because he had just woken up and his brain wasn’t clear yet.
“Young master, I want to bring her along to stay by your side from now on. Her name is Ling Zhi.”
“Didn’t you meet for the first time yesterday?”
Qin Yi didn’t really have any objections. He already had a demon by his side, so having a ghost follow too wasn’t a big deal. Besides, having two non-humans with him provided great assurance for handling cases and his own safety.
“Yes, but… she’s very pitiful.”
“You, just follow along, but as long as you don’t cause trouble, it’s fine.”
Qin Yi wiped his hands and tapped Su Xin’s forehead.
Fortunately, the other is just a ghost. If it were a person, he definitely wouldn’t agree so easily.
Qin Yi was still waiting for a reply from the emperor, so there was no movement for the time being.
Ling Zhi appeared in the shady part of the room and waved to Su Xin.
“What is it?”
“Can you take me out to see the earthly fireworks at dusk?”
Ling Zhi’s demeanor was calm. When she looked at someone, it made them involuntarily quiet down, not at all like a ghost.
If not for her overly pale complexion and the patterns on her face, she would completely resemble a well-mannered young lady, carrying a natural noble air.
Speaking of it, that indeed seems to be the case.
Before becoming a medicine person, Ling Zhi was a princess of a small country.
In the face of a big country, these small countries were simply overlooked, and her country was trampled and shattered in war by iron cavalry, making her a fallen princess.
Because of her beautiful appearance, she was treated as a victory prize and offered to the general who destroyed her country at that time.
Ling Zhi escaped, scarred all over and fell to the bottom of a mountain, barely alive when she met a strange person.
She was transformed into a medicine person, deprived of her intelligence, and became a puppet-like existence.
This was after she died many years later, her mind slowly came back.
Although she forgot everything.
But it was not a bad thing, after all, so many years had passed, and there was no need to keep those painful memories.
Her noble air is not surprising.
“Of course, we can, just as well take a stroll. Young master, there is nothing you need to instruct me on, right?”
Su Xin looked at Qin Yi.
“Mm, there isn’t much happening these days. Take my purse, and if you see something you like, just buy it. Remember to pay for it, and don’t be too extravagant, as I, the young master, am not a wealthy person.”
Qin Yi wasn’t unwilling to spend money on Su Xin; he was just afraid she would get cheated and be unable to discern the value of things.
“Got it, I won’t randomly buy things. I’ll at most buy some food; other things don’t catch my interest.”
As for accessories, Su Xin feels they aren’t as pretty as the flowers on her branches.
“Can you eat things?”
Su Xin looked at Ling Zhi, who shook her head.
Ghosts cannot eat things from the human world; she can only consume offered incense or things burned for her.
“Then I’ll go to the coffin shop and buy some delicious things to burn for you.”
With a sisterly demeanor, Su Xin patted Ling Zhi’s shoulder, showing great loyalty.
“Good, you truly are a good demon.”
Ling Zhi’s cold hand held Su Xin’s, her brow and eyes curved in a smile.
She wasn’t mistaken; indeed, she was a fool who would treat people kindly.
“You’re welcome.”
Su Xin’s heart blossomed with joy from the praise. If she had a tail, it would surely be wagging up to the sky.
Qin Yi looked at his silly daughter and sighed in his heart, wondering how she could be so easily satisfied.
Qin Yi went out to gather information, while Su Xin followed him in an invisible state, constantly looking around, appearing very interested in everything around her.
Su Xin had been lonely on the mountain for too long, and she was immensely curious about everything in the human world.
By the time the sun was setting, the bracelet on Su Xin’s hand had turned into an umbrella, floating in mid-air. In the blink of an eye, Ling Zhi appeared in front of her, holding the umbrella.
Su Xin thought this was a very beautiful scene, with Ling Zhi holding the umbrella before her, dressed in red with a trailing gown, appearing both ghostly and fairy-like.
“Let’s go.”
Ling Zhi stretched out her hand, truly a wrist white as frost and snow.
Ling Zhi’s umbrella is not an ordinary object; if she doesn’t intentionally make it manifest, ordinary mortals cannot see it.
Su Xin walked under Ling Zhi’s umbrella and felt a chill.
They held hands as they strolled through the market, and people could pass through Ling Zhi’s body, which looked quite frightening.
But they couldn’t pass through Su Xin’s body. Su Xin is a real, existing individual, just maintaining an invisible state—unseen but tangible.
So, passersby felt as if they bumped into something, but when they turned to look, they saw nothing.
Su Xin looked at Ling Zhi, feeling excited as she swallowed.
Ling Zhi intently watched the human world filled with fireworks.
It seemed like a déjà vu from memory, yet something felt different.
The hawking vendors, the aroma-filled food, it was the human world.
She doesn’t remember how long she was confined, thinking she would be confined this way forever, not knowing the way in or the way out.
Fortunately, she met a different existence.
Ling Zhi, with one hand holding the umbrella, had it between her and Su Xin, so she couldn’t hold Su Xin’s hand.
Ling Zhi looked somewhat troubled at the side profile of the pear blossom demon, while the little demon’s attention was entirely drawn to the roadside stalls.
“I’m leaving for a moment, I want to eat that.”
Su Xin excitedly pointed at one of the roadside stalls and ran to a side alley.
Ling Zhi, lifting her skirt hem with one hand, ran up to follow Su Xin.
Ah, she must not let the little demon leave her sight.
Su Xin appeared and looked at Ling Zhi closely following her.
“You don’t have to follow me; you can first casually stroll around. After I finish eating, I’ll come find you.”
Su Xin cast a disguise, making her appearance ordinary, and turned her head to speak to Su Xin.
Su Xin noticed passersby looking at her as if she were a lunatic, causing her to twitch her eye corner.
Now that she had made herself visible, others couldn’t see Ling Zhi, so to outsiders, it seemed like she was talking to the air, looking like a madwoman.
“I’ll follow you, and after you finish eating, we can be together again.”
Ling Zhi took the opportunity to hold Su Xin’s hand, an action full of reliance.
“Okay, okay, I really can’t do anything about you.”
Su Xin shrugged, feeling helpless yet a bit happy inside, wondering why this pretty ghost sister was so clingy to a demon.
Su Xin finished eating tofu pudding and went to buy candied hawthorn, appearing completely satisfied.
“Alright, let’s go.”
Although not full, because Su Xin couldn’t feel full, and she couldn’t feel hungry either, she just didn’t want Ling Zhi to wait too long.
Maintaining the invisible state actually consumes Su Xin’s power, so she simply stopped being invisible and turned into human form, with Ling Zhi following beside her.
In the eyes of outsiders, it was a very strange scene: an ordinarily looking woman walking on the street, smiling on one side while turning her head to talk to the air, with one hand slightly extended as if holding something, looking very eerie, making people feel as if there really was someone in the air.
Some people walked around her, and Su Xin blinked, pretending not to care.
From the late sunset, they walked until the bright moon hung high.
People on the road gradually became fewer, as there was a curfew, probably after 9 PM, when people were not allowed to wander on the road.
As if in an instant, many people disappeared, returned home, and closed their doors, leaving the street quiet.
Ling Zhi no longer needed to hold the umbrella, which turned back into a bracelet and returned to Su Xin’s wrist.
This thing that can change back and forth is actually very magical.
It was Ling Zhi’s weapon before she died, considered a divine weapon at that time.
That strange person exhausted all efforts to turn Ling Zhi into a walking killing weapon, naturally needing to give her a weapon that matched her status, which is this divine weapon.
This divine weapon was originally an extremely yin existence, with a living soul sealed inside, adding even more malevolent energy.
After Ling Zhi died, this divine weapon remained by her side, changing shape according to her will.
Ling Zhi had not seen the sun and moon for a very long time, not even the stars.
Although the Chenghuang Temple was abandoned, the roof wasn’t broken. Ling Zhi couldn’t pass through the four corners of the Chenghuang Temple and could only look at the same world all day.
“Very beautiful.”
The female ghost’s figure appeared thin under the moonlit sky, her hand passing through the water surface, trying to touch the moon in the water.
Unfortunately, she is a ghost and cannot touch anything solid, not even the water surface.
The water surface remained unrippled, and the moon in the water stayed quietly in its original place.
Ling Zhi sadly withdrew her hand, putting it into the water. Although she couldn’t touch anything, looking was fine too.
Su Xin scratched her head, stepped on the water surface, walked forward, and held Ling Zhi’s hand, shattering the round moon in the water.
Touched.
