Little Sweetness 1

【Mission settlement complete. Memories have been blurred. Returning to the real world. Remaining lifespan: 140 months. Please cherish your life, Host, and have fun. See you next time.】

Goodbye.

This next side story1 is writing about Xin-jie and Qing-jie’s other-world brain-hole idea2, and has no connection to the main plot before or after! It’s a special edition of sweetness!

A story about seventeen-year-old Su Xin and Qiu Qingqing coming to another world to fall in love.

Because of their age, their character settings and emotions will have some discrepancies compared to what was presented in the previous text.

A simple summary is chuuni, youthful, sweet, ‘su’3, and explosive.

The glasses-swapping gag below comes from Weibo, all other content is original. Hope everyone is aware.

The afternoon sun made one drowsy. The teacher on the podium was speaking with impassioned fervor, spit flying everywhere.

“Liu Zongyuan4 in his 《On the Feudal System》5 evaluated Qin Shi Huang’s6 act of abolishing the feudal system7 and implementing the commandery-county system8, saying: “This system he established is the greatest form of public-mindedness… The beginning of making the realm a public domain9 started with the First Emperor.” The commandery-county system was the beginning of ‘making the realm a public domain’. In which aspect is this mainly reflected?

A.The common people were no longer the subjects of feudal lords.
B.It was more conducive to the centralization of imperial power.
C.The unification of systems and laws.
D.Appointing and dismissing officials based on talent and political achievements.”

“Let’s have a student answer this question. The female student with glasses in the last row, stand up and answer this question for me!”

The teacher looked towards the back of the classroom with a smile, holding a piece of chalk.

Everyone’s gaze gathered in the direction the teacher was looking, and they saw a young girl sleeping with a pair of eyeglass frames on her face.

Su Xin groggily took the lensless eyeglass frames off her face, placed them on the desk, and then laid her head down to continue sleeping.

Everyone had a look of dumbfounded confusion. The expression of the teacher on the podium immediately soured.

At this moment, the girl next to her silently put the glasses on her own face and slowly stood up.

“Teacher, I think the answer to this question is D.”

“……Very good. Sit down, Classmate Qiu Qingqing. And while you’re at it, wake up your deskmate.”

The teacher took a deep breath, his fingers still trembling slightly.

The classmates were all stunned. There’s this kind of operation10?

Fortunately, the history teacher had a pretty good temper and didn’t like to be fierce.

When the bell for the end of class rang, Su Xin propped her head up, sat up, and leaned on Qiu Qingqing.

“You seem to be adapting quite well?”

This matter was a bit strange, to be honest.

This was Su Xin’s first year after changing paths11 to become a cleaner12. Unexpectedly, a fish13 had cunningly slipped away. Su Xin gave chase and saw Qiu Qingqing, who was also on a mission.

They hadn’t seen each other for several years. After Su Xin cheerfully gave the target a headshot, she greeted Qiu Qingqing. Qiu Qingqing’s target drove away, and Su Xin nimbly got into Qiu Qingqing’s car to chase the target together.

After Qiu Qingqing took care of it, a black hole inexplicably appeared on the road in front of them. They were uncontrollably sucked in. When they opened their eyes, they found themselves in a house.

They were wearing school uniforms, with school ID cards hanging around their necks, looking just like high school students.

Su Xin was sure this was her own body, because there was a faint scar below her collarbone, a place where she had once suffered a gunshot wound.

Qiu Qingqing also confirmed that it was indeed her own body. Before the two of them could figure out what was going on, an alarm bell suddenly rang in their minds.

It’s time for class, or you’ll be late.

……What the hell!

Qiu Qingqing grabbed the car keys and walked out. Su Xin picked up the schoolbag on the sofa and headed out.

It was like an automatic action of the body, as if it had been done many times.

Qiu Qingqing rode an electric scooter14, with Su Xin sitting on the back, heading towards their destination.

Su Xin wasn’t very interested in class and had spontaneously fallen asleep during the first period in the morning, which led to the scene at the beginning.

“It’s alright. Do you have any memories?”

Qiu Qingqing found it a bit strange. If she had come here and replaced someone else, how could she have no memories? But the body was her own.

“Nothing at all. But this place is excessively familiar.”

Su Xin looked around. She could call out the names of many people here.

“School should have started not long ago, about half a month.”

Qiu Qingqing speculated, twirling a pen in her hand.

Su Xin rested her head on the desk, looking at the thin calluses on her hands.

It was really like seeing a living ghost15.

“We didn’t even have time to catch up before we were bound to this. God knows how to get back, although it doesn’t matter if we don’t go back.”

Su Xin pouted. There was nothing much to miss back there anyway. The only girl she could consider a friend was right beside her.

“Then let’s just leave it at that. When the time comes, we’ll just have to be resourceful and adapt.”

Qiu Qingqing wasn’t quite used to the feeling of not having a weapon on her. But this was a society ruled by law. If nothing unexpected happened, the two of them were now ordinary high school students.

Qiu Qingqing took out the ID cards from Su Xin’s schoolbag. They were indeed theirs, but their hometown was a place they didn’t know.

“If we have time, let’s go take a look.”

Su Xin nodded, looking at the class schedule taped to Qiu Qingqing’s desk. Next was English class.

“After we separated, how have you been?”

“So-so.”

Qiu Qingqing tilted her head to gaze at Su Xin, the emotion in her eyes complex and hard to discern.

“Me too. After you left, those people were as boring as ever. After I stopped having to stay with them, the air felt a lot better. Sometimes I wondered if you, this fellow, had died, but then I felt it was unlikely. If you were that weak, I would despise you.”

Su Xin held a pen and doodled unconsciously on a piece of paper, not very accustomed to the surrounding environment.

She was used to lying low by day and moving by night16, and she was also used to silence.

The current Su Xin was like a newly unsheathed blade, full of sharpness, her hostile aura unrestrained. She spoke with unscrupulous directness, expressing her thoughts without any reservations.

Qiu Qingqing took Su Xin’s hand. It was still the same as before, unchanged.

“I won’t give you a chance to think that way.”

Qiu Qingqing played with Su Xin’s hand, their fingers intertwined.

Su Xin half-closed her eyes, letting Qiu Qingqing do as she pleased.

This fellow probably has skin hunger17.

Qiu Qingqing had always liked to touch her in the past. Su Xin was already used to it.

Class started.

Most people’s desks had books piled high, including Su Xin’s.

Su Xin pulled out her English book. Not wearing the decorative glasses, she propped up her head and started to zone out.

Qiu Qingqing understood everything, but she was also absent-mindedly looking at Su Xin.

They had been separated for several years; they had both grown up.

Su Xin had been so proud and willful back then, and she hadn’t changed now.

Her posture when she attacked was still so pleasing to the eye, like a cheetah hunting its prey. Every move was breathtaking.

Qiu Qingqing didn’t deny that she had accepted that mission for Su Xin.

She had never let go in her heart. The little bear Su Xin had given her was still by her side.

A few years ago, she discovered that she had developed a dangerous sense of dependence on Su Xin.

For Qiu Qingqing, that was almost unbelievable.

She had always been fleeing and wandering, knowing that she couldn’t trust anyone, nor would she become dependent on anyone.

So, to prevent herself from sinking further, she left.

But that little flame in her heart flickered and swayed. Not only did it not dissipate, it grew more and more intense.

So she had returned impatiently, wanting to come back and see what the girl she cared about had become.

If… if they had become strangers, Qiu Qingqing had decided she would stay far away.

But the moment they met again, Su Xin gave her a brilliant smile, so familiar, instantly capturing Qiu Qingqing’s heart and soul.

Her heart ached with excitement. Qiu Qingqing knew, it was over.

This bond, she couldn’t bear to let it go.

Qiu Qingqing glanced at the book, pulled out a workbook, and did a cloze test.

Su Xin was still in a daze. She didn’t know what she was doing either.

An ordinary, unattainable life was suddenly presented before her, yet she didn’t yearn for it that much.

The morning passed quickly. Su Xin listened to half of the Chinese language class, chewing on the end of her pen while taking notes.

Her handwriting was sharp with every stroke, looking very nice. Qiu Qingqing’s, on the other hand, was neat and orderly, a blocky standard script18.

“Let’s go, time to eat.”

Su Xin was hungry. She felt that they should have money, although she searched all over her body and didn’t have a single cent.

“Okay.”

Qiu Qingqing felt her pocket; there were a few hundred yuan inside.

They went to a small restaurant outside the school and ordered two servings of gaifan19.

Gaifan

Before long, a crowd of people came swarming in from behind, filling up the entire little shop.

They were all wearing school uniforms, from the same school.

“Xiao-ge, let’s go after we finish eating. The new one who carries the banner20 from Third Middle School21 is really arrogant, he’s issued a challenge, saying he doesn’t even put our First Middle School in his eyes, not knowing the immensity of heaven and earth22.”

The boy’s voice was rough. Su Xin glanced over; he was probably a sports student.

Information suddenly burst forth from Su Xin’s mind.

The high school they attended was called Qiliang First High School, and it was a sworn enemy of Third High School.

It was said that the principals of First and Third High Schools had a grudge between them and always had to compete over everything. Whether it was academics or messing around23, they had to determine who was better.

Qiliang City had three high schools and five junior high schools. Each school had its own student group leaders.

Of course, they were divided into the ‘academic ace24 squads’ and the ‘school tyrant25 squads’. The academic ace squads competed for rankings in studies, determined victory and defeat in joint exams, held debate competitions for fun, and chattered nonstop about everything from astronomy to geography.

As for the school tyrants, they just fight. If you’re not convinced, then let’s do it.

In the same high school, some people might have heard several versions of these stories, almost suspecting they were attending a fake high school.

“Lao Liu26 □□ down? So useless.”

The person called Xiao-ge was smoking, the smoke hazy, his face carrying a hint of a gangster’s air. His name was Chen Baixiao27.

Su Xin found it quite interesting. To her, what this person was doing was all child’s play, amusingly naive, yet this student was so serious, as if it were a very solemn and important matter.

Su Xin and Qiu Qingqing exchanged a look, revealing identical expressions.

“Boss, hurry up with the food.”

“Alrighty.”

Chen Baixiao stubbed out his cigarette, his gaze falling on the two young girls who were sitting sideways to him.

“Which class are you from? New students?”

“What’s it to you.”

Su Xin raised an eyebrow, the corners of her mouth lifting.
