Plan A
Divine Vestige 19
Returning to the present timeline.
When Su Xin arrived, the fox-eared girl had already put three sand bandits down on the ground. She had used a common rogue’s technique: a single, fatal blow with a sharp weapon.
The girl’s clothes were disheveled and covered in sand. There were also cuts on her arms, and her fingernails were sharp, like the claws of a wild beast, stained with blood.
Su Xin could tell at a glance that this person was Slayer. Slayer first called her name affectionately, then clutched her chest.
“I feel so awful. I need a kiss from you to get better.”
Su Xin was amused by her exaggerated acting and lifted her chin.
“Where did you learn that from?”
“This person has seen it before.”
The Beastman Tribe also retained ancient sacrificial rites. Their rituals were more pious and dedicated, and this fox-eared girl was the newly succeeded Priestess of the Beastman Tribe.
A position closest to a god.
She had come here to gather medicinal herbs but had run into trouble.
This was the entrance to the Beastman dungeon. The original owner of the body, Lang Xuanxuan, had never been here, but Su Xin had read the plot design and knew what was going on.
And so, the scene of Su Xin and Slayer kissing, which Mi Luo and Sha Ying had just witnessed, came to be.
Sha Ying was also quite shocked, but his shock was clearly different from Mi Luo’s.
“This… uh… should we perhaps make ourselves scarce?”
Sha Ying turned around while holding Mi Luo, but Mi Luo patted his shoulder, telling him to put her down.
Just now, Sha Ying had been carrying Mi Luo in a mad dash. Mounts were too easily entangled or bogged down in the sand, so Sha Ying hadn’t used one.
Mi Luo couldn’t help but shake her head, feeling a bit of sympathy for the-goddess-knows-where Slayer.
Love a wild horse, and you’ll end up with a whole prairie over your head1.
Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk.
“You don’t seem surprised at all.”
“It’s a very obvious fact, okay?”
“Then Boss and Slayer?”
The penny dropped for Sha Ying, and he instantly understood the reason for Su Xin and Slayer’s earlier actions.
“Are a couple.”
“But Boss is now…”
“Who knows.”
Mi Luo didn’t think Su Xin seemed like the type to be a scummy girl, and besides, this wasn’t exactly a suitable time for billing and cooing, was it?
After their intimate moment, Slayer pulled open her clothes.
“It really hurts.”
There was a gash there, bleeding steadily.
It must have been left by a sand bandit’s weapon.
Su Xin frowned. She had smelled the thick scent of blood earlier, but she had assumed its source was the corpses lying on the ground and the various small cuts visible on Slayer. She hadn’t expected Slayer to have such a wound on her body.
“I’ll help you.”
“No need. The beastmen only have Witch Doctors2, and their medical conditions aren’t very good. When the time comes, you can heal me in front of them, and they’ll accept you all quickly.”
The beastmen’s medical environment wasn’t actually that bad, about on par with some of the common folk on the continent. After all, Light Mages who could use healing magic were extremely rare and generally belonged to the Church. And the people of the Church wouldn’t casually treat commoners; they mostly relied on physicians.
“Alright.”
Slayer took a few steps, her fluffy fox tail swaying behind her.
Watching the swaying tail, Su Xin reached out and touched its tip. Slayer turned back and winked at her.
“Wear this for now.”
Su Xin took out her own clothes. Slayer’s current state could be described as barely clothed, and she had very obvious injuries.
Su Xin’s clothes were either black or white. Lang Xuanxuan had liked that style, and on this point, Su Xin’s taste was quite similar to hers. Su Xin also preferred simple things.
“Okay.”
The fox-eared girl, Feixi3, was a red fox with beautiful ears and a tail, a charming face, and every blink of her eyes carried a seductive allure. However, because her identity was that of a Beastman Priestess, the aura she exuded had a certain sanctity. Pure yet bewitching, it was a look that many humans adored.
She probably wasn’t suited for white; it gave her an air of unspoken longing.
Slayer didn’t know what she looked like right now, but she was certain she couldn’t wear these clothes with the same flair as Su Xin.
There was indeed a pervasive sense of incongruity. Su Xin rubbed Slayer’s ears and gestured for the waiting Mi Luo and Sha Ying to come over.
“Wait a moment. Don’t tell them you’re Slayer.”
“Alright.”
Slayer’s identity was, after all, very special. If others knew she could do this, who knows what they might think.
The two of them approached, acting as if they hadn’t seen a thing. In truth, Su Xin didn’t mind them watching. It wasn’t a huge deal, and as for whether others could accept it, what did that have to do with her?
“Feixi will lead us in. Don’t say anything for a while, just follow my instructions.”
“Okay.”
A beast-eared girl, ah! Sha Ying and Mi Luo were completely smitten, and at the same time, they felt sympathy for Slayer, who was who-knows-where at this very moment.
Slayer put on an appropriately unfamiliar expression. She wasn’t overly warm towards the two of them, her gaze lingering only on Su Xin.
Mi Luo and Sha Ying didn’t find this particularly strange. They saw the three corpses on the ground and probably assumed Su Xin had come and dealt with the sand bandits, and that Feixi was merely grateful to Su Xin for saving her life.
A life-saving benefactor, after all, was bound to be a bit special.
But a kiss was just too special…
The rest of the journey was relatively smooth. Slayer led them into the beastmen’s territory.
“Feixi, you’re back! What happened to you?” a few beastmen walking toward them asked. They all bore animalistic features, and the one at the forefront was the one who spoke.
He had clearly seen that their Priestess was not in a good state; she had changed her clothes and was covered in mottled wounds.
“I ran into a few bandits. These people saved me, so I brought them back. They seem to be lost here. To thank them, I wanted to bring them back to stay for a few days, and then I’ll see them off in a couple of days.”
“How outrageous! Those despicable humans, ganging up to ambush a lone female like you! It’s good that you’re okay. Are you injured anywhere? Hurry and let the Witch Doctor take a look.”
“I think I can give it a try.”
Su Xin didn’t say she knew Light Magic, only that she was a physician.
“Actually, I wanted to treat Feixi’s wounds just now, but she said it was too inconvenient in the desert and that it would be safer to return to the territory.”
Su Xin wore a worried expression. At this moment, she had completely changed her demeanor. She was no longer the unapproachable, somewhat cold and distant figure from before, but instead exuded a purely benevolent feeling, making one know at a glance that she was a good person.
“Then we’ll have to trouble you.”
The Beastman Tribe was actually quite easy to get along with. At least, compared to other races, they didn’t lump everyone together. They believed there were good humans and bad humans. They would be very polite and enthusiastic towards the good ones, and stern and discourteous toward the bad. The Elves had a grudge against the Human race, the Merfolk treated humans as food, the Demon Race went without saying, and the Dwarves treated everyone the same.
After seeing Su Xin heal the wounds on Slayer’s body, their gratitude deepened. After all, the Priestess was a very important existence for their tribe. If something were to happen to the Priestess and they hadn’t found a successor, it would undoubtedly be a huge blow to them.
Slayer went to take a bath and brought Su Xin along with her.
The two of them had a thorough discussion on how to lure out the Beastman God.
“The weakness of the Beastman God, Beast, is on his tail.”
“Mhm, I think I can be the one to do it this time.”
There really weren’t many ways to summon those gods. It didn’t matter if the method was the same, as long as it worked. They would generally only appear when they saw their people facing a major crisis and had no choice but to intervene.
“Then I’ll be in a place where few people go, and I’ll perform some harmful actions against you. Then you perform the summoning. Of course, I won’t actually do anything to you.”
“Okay. Feixi seems to be a great favorite of the Beastman God, so this has a ninety percent chance of success. Let’s do it tomorrow, then. Today would be a bit too rushed.”
“Mhm.”
“Feixi, we can arrange a room for the guests. They can stay in the house to the east. You can take them there.”
“She can stay with me. It’s only for a few days, anyway.”
A smile was on Slayer’s face, her fluffy tail swaying.
“Alright.”
Of course, the others had no objections. They were actually very autonomous, and their attitude towards each other was very harmonious.
The expressions on Sha Ying and Mi Luo’s faces became a bit peculiar. These two had just done something so intimate not long ago, and now they were going to stay in the same room. It was inevitable that their minds would wander.
Slayer, ah, if you don’t show up soon, the big boss is going to be seduced away by another little vixen! Look at those ears, that tail, she’s a real fox spirit4!
The sky had not yet darkened, and everyone was busy with their own tasks.
The beastmen’s food was relatively coarse, but the portions were generous.
The sky quickly turned dark, and the multitude of stars proved how good the air quality was here.
As the Priestess, Feixi had her own house to live in. She lived in a more secluded area, and the room was filled with many objects, but it was neat and clean.
The bed was not small; it was more than enough for two people to lie down.
“Let’s do it tomorrow afternoon. The people here live very structured lives. They generally don’t go out during dinner time, so if we go out while they’re eating, no one will follow us, and it will be more convenient for us.”
“That works.”
The Beastman God’s weakness was at the tip of his tail. The strike had to be fast, ruthless, and precise. Su Xin had great faith in Slayer and believed she could absolutely do it.
They needed to be well-rested for tomorrow to avoid any mistakes. Although Slayer didn’t need to sleep, Su Xin did.
“Know when to stop.”
Su Xin shot Slayer a glare.
Slayer didn’t speak, but she relentlessly harassed Su Xin with her tail, her eyes looking moist and pitiful.
