Fate Trading System – Chapter 283

Plan A

Divine Vestige 9

“Su’er, what’s wrong?”

Su Xin sat worriedly by Slayer’s bed, gently and lovingly stroking Slayer’s hair.

“Her Highness suddenly fell ill this morning. We don’t know what happened. Minai said she couldn’t figure it out.”

A little elf explained everything in a rush, flying in circles.

“Let me see.”

Elves possess a natural affinity for the wood element. Of all forms of magic, light magic was the most potent for healing. The wood element also had some healing properties, but it was a far cry from light magic, which also had the ability to purify.

A faint green glow emanated a comfortable, natural power. The little elf flew up and down contentedly, but the young woman lying on the bed let out a pained cry.

The beautiful girl’s lips trembled, their once petal-like vibrant color now pale. Her eyes glistened with tears welled up from the pain, but they swirled without falling.

Su Xin immediately stopped, her expression grave as she frowned.

“Your Majesty the Queen, what’s wrong with Her Highness the Saintess?”

Seeing that the situation looked bad, the little elf flapped its wings and flew closer.

“Be a good girl, Ke’er1. Go outside and stand guard for now. Don’t let anyone near. Give me a quiet environment to heal our girl, alright?”

“Mhm!”

Ke’er nodded, signaling her companions to go outside with her before blocking the doorway.

Once there were no outsiders, Slayer dropped her act.

She remained lying on the bed, her face still bloodless, but her eyes were now sharp and clear.

“That was terrifying.”

“I can control my body’s data. Trust me, it’s absolutely no problem.”

Slayer blinked, still looking as if she were at death’s door.

“It should work, right? As long as I’m pious enough.”

Slayer’s hand had just grasped Su Xin’s. Su Xin’s fingers twitched within her palm.

“Do you believe in gods?”

“No, I only believe in myself.”

Even in the real world, Su Xin had never believed in any deities. She had no intention of interfering with others’ beliefs, but for her, it was better to rely on herself than to place her hopes in something so illusory.

She only believed in herself.

“Wow, that sounds cool.”

“What about you? Don’t tell me you believe in gods?”

“No. I believe in science.”

Slayer smiled. She believed in science, in logic.

“Wait for my signal. I think I’ll have to take you back to my palace first, and then pray for the gods’ mercy on your behalf.”

Su Xin moved closer. She hadn’t brought her staff, which was back in her palace.

“You should be able to carry me, right?”

“Of course. Keep up the act for now. Many people will probably come to see you soon. Now, close your eyes.”

Su Xin placed her palm over Slayer’s eyes, gently closing them.

“Alright.”

Slayer resumed her frail appearance. Su Xin waited a moment before lifting her into her arms.

She walked out of the treehouse, her expression heavy.

“My little darlings, go and inform the Elders to gather in our palace.”

“Yes!”

“Is Her Highness Su’er very sick?”

The little elves were all worried that something terrible would happen to their beautiful and kind-hearted Her Highness Su’er. Undisguised concern was written on every elf’s face.

“Don’t worry, she’ll be fine.”

Su Xin walked toward her palace, carrying Slayer, who rested against her chest with one hand hanging limply.

“Xuanxuan, this is my first time getting a princess carry. It’s quite interesting.”

“Shut up.”

They both spoke in low voices, but Su Xin was in no mood to joke with Slayer right now. She couldn’t afford a single mistake.

The Elf Queen’s Palace.

Slayer was placed on a soft bed, playing the part of an unconscious person perfectly.

Even in her sleep, the young woman looked to be in pain, her brows knitted tightly in a way that tugged at one’s heartstrings.

“Your Majesty, I also can’t determine what’s wrong.”

Several Elders gathered around discussing, each shaking their heads to show they were powerless to help.

“I tried to heal little Su’er with the power of nature, but it only made her more pained.”

Su Xin’s voice was tinged with anxiety.

“My poor child, can anyone tell me what’s wrong with her…”

Su Xin glanced toward where the girl was sleeping and sighed.

“I’ve already asked around. Su’er was her usual self yesterday, perfectly fine. I saw her the day before yesterday, and she was very healthy then, too.”

“How could this happen? There are no records of anything like this.”

The Elders were at a loss.

“You may all leave for now. I will pray to my god. Go check on the Tree of Life and the Spring of Life, and see if anyone else is afflicted with this.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

The crowd dispersed once again. Su Xin sat beside Slayer. She was just about to speak when she heard Fourteen’s voice, and her expression immediately returned to its previous state.

【Host, the Elven God is watching.】

Slayer was clearly unaware of this and opened her eyes, about to speak.

Su Xin, of course, couldn’t let her. She quickly leaned down, shielding Slayer from view with her own body.

Su Xin kissed Slayer’s forehead, using her eyes to send a silent message.

Slayer was momentarily stunned by the touch on her forehead. It felt cool and very comfortable.

Su Xin’s fingers traced Slayer’s face before landing on her lips in a hushing gesture.

Her body remained turned sideways, blocking the view of Slayer’s face, making sure the Elven God Fairy couldn’t see anything.

Slayer understood her meaning, closed her eyes, adjusted her data, and fell back into a comatose state.

With a sorrowful expression, Su Xin knelt before the divine statue and began to pray.

“My great God, your child needs you.”

Su Xin fully immersed herself in the role, reciting the prayer.

At this moment, she didn’t let her mind wander, focusing wholeheartedly on praying for her child.

“Please save Su’er. Something from an unknown source has infected her. Her life force is weakening. This has never happened to the elven race before.”

Su Xin knelt for a long time, praying for just as long, before she finally heard Fourteen’s prompt.

【Host, she’s here.】

“My child, what is the matter?”

The Elven God Fairy appeared on the swing set. Su Xin couldn’t see her face clearly; it was hazy, shrouded in a layer of divine light.

“My God!”

Su Xin bowed respectfully before looking toward the girl on the bed.

“Su’er fell ill today. None of the Elders nor I could do anything. It’s a very strange illness, one I’ve never seen before… Moreover, Su’er’s body is rejecting the power of nature. And you know, Su’er has always had the best affinity among the elves.”

Fairy was startled and stood up from the swing.

Rejecting the power of nature? Could the dark element have found its way in?

But this was clearly an isolated island. If it had entered, wouldn’t their defenses be completely useless?

No… that’s not right… If a dark element had invaded and caused her to reject the power of nature, how could I not have sensed it?

Fairy approached the soft bed, letting a sliver of divine power wander over the girl’s body.

Fairy’s expression turned grim. Her divine power was actually ineffective?

How could that be!

“Don’t be anxious, let me see.”

Fairy reassured Su Xin as she carefully examined the girl on the bed.

What is the fastest thing in the world?

Is it an elf’s sword, a dragon’s flight speed, a mage’s magic orb, or something else?

It is none of those. It is a rogue’s weapon.

It all happened in an instant. The Elven God Fairy extended her hand to touch the center of Slayer’s brow, but Slayer suddenly erupted into action, swiftly raising her hand and slicing open the middle finger of the god’s right hand.

What is the greatest pride of the elves? Besides the power of nature, it is their archery.

God Fairy was undoubtedly the most outstanding archer. It was no exaggeration to say her arrows could pierce a willow leaf at a hundred paces; any prey she targeted would die.

Her right middle finger was her most important finger, which was why she hid her weakness there.

In the place where she felt the safest.

Fairy’s finger was protected by an item that granted defense, but it couldn’t stop the rogue’s attack. Her weapon was incredibly sharp and capable of dealing true damage.

A ball of light rose from Fairy’s body and was absorbed by Su Xin.

This was the Godhood2.

This was just a game, not the real world, so even if a god was lost, it didn’t matter.

The elven race would not be wiped out, the Tree of Life would not wither, and the Spring of Life would not run dry. They would simply be… without a god.

The gods did not interact with one another, and the grudges between the races still existed. Su Xin wasn’t worried.

“That looked pretty easy, didn’t it?”

Slayer sat up in bed and flexed her fingers, the dagger dissolving into her palm.

“Yes, this was the easiest one. The rest won’t be so simple.”

Su Xin looked at her control panel. There were still six more they needed to deal with.

“What’s our next target?”

“Let me think. I plan to save the God of Light for last.”

“The Demon God second to last?”

“No, the Human God second to last.”

“Why? I would think the Demon God would be harder to deal with than the Human God.”

“Slayer, do you know why humans, compared to the other races, have ruled the continent for so much longer?”

Humans were clearly so weak. Compared to the other races, they lacked the might of the demons, the speed of the elves, the talent of the dwarves, and the strength of the beastman race, yet they were still the race that had ruled the continent the longest and continued to do so. It was because they had intelligence.

“That Human God fellow must be extremely intelligent and cunning.”

Su Xin wasn’t afraid of dealing with brute force, but she hated dealing with intelligent opponents. Those whose cunning bordered on the demonic were even more terrifying, not to mention that the Human God had already ascended to godhood.

“I think we can stop by the Mermaid race on the way, but I haven’t gotten the thing I need yet, so that’s a bit troublesome. Let’s go to the Beastman race first.”

“No problem.”

Su Xin first went to the seaside. After crossing the sea, she tapped her control panel, canceled her mimicry, and returned to her original form.

The rogue lady stood beside her and made a request.

“Can you kiss me again?”

Slayer pointed to her own forehead.
