Fate Trading System – Chapter 216

Plan A

Heavenly Voice 7

Checkup Continued

“Okay.”

Su Xin nodded, trying hard to relax her body. Due to her profession, her body was actually tense whenever she faced anyone; she might look relaxed, but there were hidden depths1. Only when facing familiar people could she truly let her guard down.

Su Xin wasn’t sure if she could avoid having an intense reaction, because her neck was a fatal point for her, along with her waist and abdomen. Being touched in these places by someone unfamiliar inevitably stirred killing intent, even though she didn’t consciously want to think that way.

Yan Shuang touched Su Xin’s fingers, very meticulously, not missing a single spot.

After all ten fingertips had been pressed, Su Xin shook her head, indicating she didn’t feel anything special.

A hand wearing a rubber glove slid from her fingertips to her palm. The sensation was cold. Su Xin tried hard to ignore the strange feeling and shook her head.

Yan Shuang kept one hand rapidly writing something in a notebook, while the other continued the test.

The scene could be described as extremely serious and proper, just like a physical examination, making it impossible for one’s thoughts to stray in other directions.

When Yan Shuang touched her wrist, Su Xin finally had a different reaction, but it wasn’t the sensitivity Yan Shuang had anticipated from the effects of the drug. Instead, it was extreme tension, as if this were a crucial node for her. However, the reaction lasted only an instant; the defensive posture built up throughout her body vanished in a flash.

The threat level of the wrist was manageable for Su Xin; after all, compared to slitting a wrist versus slitting a neck, the latter was more intimidating.

Then, the cold hand was placed on her forearm, moving steadily upwards. Su Xin endured the discomfort, thinking about other things to distract herself.

“I think you might need to focus a bit more. Although this process is very tedious and dull, if you divert your attention, your perception of your body won’t be as…”

“Okay.”

After testing both arms, Yan Shuang reached some conclusions.

“It seems your arms don’t have any sensitive points. Same as a normal person, perhaps even slightly less sensitive than average.”

Yan Shuang gave her conclusion.

“Mm-hmm.”

Her arms and such were fine; the main trouble lay deeper inside.

“Next, we’ll test the face.”

“Okay.”

Eyes, nose, then lips.

When Yan Shuang’s finger brushed across her lips, Su Xin’s body inexplicably trembled.

Yan Shuang paused her movement slightly, noting this abnormality in her notebook.

“Next, I need to test the sensitivity inside your mouth. I hope you don’t mind. I will go wash my hands thoroughly.”

“…Okay.”

Yan Shuang removed the glove from her hand and walked towards the bathroom.

The master bedroom didn’t have an en-suite bathroom, so she had to leave the room.

Su Xin took the opportunity to glance at the contents of Yan Shuang’s little notebook. There were only some symbols and numbers she couldn’t understand; apart from labels for body parts, there were no Chinese characters.

So confusing.

Yan Shuang returned after washing her hands thoroughly, water droplets still clinging to her fingers.

“I wasn’t sure which towel could be used for hands, so I didn’t use one.”

Yan Shuang explained very politely, then pulled two tissues from the table and began drying her hands.

“Please cooperate and open your mouth.”

This was very much like being at the dentist’s office, with the doctor asking you to open wide.

Cool fingers probed into the warm mouth. Yan Shuang wasn’t a dentist, so naturally, she wasn’t checking teeth. Two fingers pinched Su Xin’s tongue, then released it to roam freely inside Su Xin’s mouth.

Su Xin felt something was very wrong with this scene, but she couldn’t pinpoint what exactly was wrong. Looking at the doctor opposite her, with such a serious expression, it was hard to let her thoughts wander elsewhere. Even while doing something like this, she seemed to exude an air of aloofness and asceticism.

Ugh… what ‘something like this’? Isn’t it just an examination?

Su Xin grumbled internally, rolling her eyes at her own impure thoughts.

The doctor opposite her was practically asexual, so there was nothing to worry about.

That feeling of wrongness surfaced again. Su Xin felt her legs starting to tremble slightly. What was wrong with her? Her mouth was being touched, why were her legs going weak? This was messed up.

Two faint blushes rose on the young woman’s cheeks, her eyes seeming full of autumn waters, emitting bright, clear ripples.

The young woman’s lips and tongue pressed against her fingers. Yan Shuang suddenly felt a peculiar sensation, something she had never experienced before—novel, as if seeping out from her very bloodline before surfacing.

Yan Shuang, typically a top science student, suddenly had a rare romantic thought, recalling a line of poetry.

Phoenix eyes half-curved hold amber deep, / A single cherry bead adorns vermilion lip.

She really made herself cringe with the cheesiness.

Yet, this wasn’t exactly a wholesome poem. Yan Shuang didn’t know how her thoughts had strayed in this direction.

Those were lines from 《Water Margin》, describing the famous courtesan Li Shishi.

【Her lovely face and fine features were yet more enchanting,
Her spirit like autumn waters, her standard like auspicious snow.
Phoenix eyes half-curved held amber deep,
A single cherry bead adorned vermilion lip.
Jade fingers revealed, slender and soft,
Where she walked, golden lotuses bloomed with each graceful step.
White jade born fragrant, flowers that could speak,
A thousand gold pieces for a fine night, truly hard to pass.】

Although Yan Shuang’s internal activity was quite rich, her expression remained impassive. After withdrawing her fingers, she continued jotting down numbers and symbols in the notebook with her right hand.

Those must be her own, or perhaps a group’s, special way of notation.

Yan Shuang pulled out another tissue, wiped her two fingers clean, and put the rubber glove back on.

“Next, we’ll conduct a more in-depth examination.”

Meticulous and serious, displaying a strong spirit of scientific research.

“Here?”

“Mm.”

Su Xin’s voice was thick with suppressed endurance. This was a place she herself was unwilling to touch even when bathing, although it was considered a very important part of external female beauty.

Yan Shuang actually quite liked cherry milk pudding. The red cherry perched atop the snow-white pudding looked exquisite, very appetizing.

So, for a rare moment, her vision blurred slightly, and she began to question her own sexual orientation. But then again, didn’t everyone have a bit of flesh on their bodies? The only difference was size. Thus, those complicated thoughts were quickly suppressed. She remained highly professional and continued the examination.

“Is this also very uncomfortable?”

Yan Shuang was referring to the navel. This spot was rather important, even if it seemed relatively useless.

“It’s okay.”

Su Xin had already shifted from sitting to lying down, enduring the physical discomfort to continue cooperating with the examination.

Right now, she really wanted to go back and beat up Liu Yan again. She should have injected the drug back into him; otherwise, wasn’t she letting him off too easy? But the problem was, he didn’t have any more. She should have asked back then, shouldn’t have just left like that.

“Continue.”

Life’s path is long; after the plains, there come the deep valleys.

The flower’s heart, who might have gently touched? / Flushed like a lovely cheek.

Another line of poetry occurred to Yan Shuang. She felt she actually had quite the literary talent; otherwise, how could she be so cultured at a time like this?

Yu Meiren: The Flower’s Heart, Who Might Have
——Liu Chenweng

The flower’s heart, who might have gently touched?
Flushed like a lovely cheek.
A trace of bright moon ages the spring night.
Just like a creamy breast, a flushed face, never fading.

Once on a palm, Kaiyuan coins opened.
Half were Yang Fei’s2 nails.
If this plucking reached an infatuated soul,
Even high walls without paths, a butterfly would flip over.】

Yan Shuang hadn’t actually read that many poems; after all, she was a science student, not particularly interested in language or history. Her knowledge of so many ‘sensuous verses’ was mostly thanks to her college roommate, who went through a phase studying such things. Despite being a science student, the roommate had the fervor of a humanities major, constantly muttering and reciting them in her ear. As a result, Yan Shuang, having an excellent memory, couldn’t help but remember them vividly.

After the examination was finished, Su Xin let out a sigh of relief. Yan Shuang, somehow, also breathed a sigh of relief alongside her.

To be honest, Yan Shuang didn’t think she would feel any impulse towards a human body, much like a male gynecologist’s feelings towards women—they might cherish their wives more, but in terms of intimacy, they might inevitably recall some very bloody images.

“I have basically recorded this data. I will now take your blood sample back to the research lab for study. However, progress might be a bit slow, because the necessary tools are more complete in my main laboratory. I am currently purchasing and installing some potentially needed equipment here.”

“That’s alright. But after you finish the project you’re responsible for here, will you have to leave?”

“I might have to leave for a period to report, but I will set up a private laboratory here specifically to research your case. I’ll come back when I’m done with that.”

“You don’t need to go to such trouble.”

Setting up a new private laboratory, how much would that cost…

“I’ve already bought an apartment here, and it’s currently being renovated. I’ll build one inside. I probably won’t live here anymore then, since this place is rented after all. If it’s convenient, you could come live with me. The apartment is quite large, and it would make my research more convenient.”

“No problem. As long as I can resolve my body’s condition sooner, I’ll cooperate fully.”

“Then, until next time. If there are any developments, I’ll notify you by phone.”

“Okay.”

It had actually taken quite a while. Because the examination was extremely detailed, covering head to toe, over an hour had passed. It was now almost time for a meal.

“Doctor Yan, why don’t I treat you to a meal? Thank you so much for helping me. It’s almost mealtime now. I’m not much of a cook though, so I might have to take you out.”

“Just call me Yan Shuang. I can cook, but it might not be convenient today. In that case, I’d be happy to accept your offer.”

“Okay, let me just get myself ready first.”

“I’ll put my things away at home first and change clothes as well. See you in a bit.”

“See you in a bit.”

It was currently October, still lingering on the tail end of autumn, and extremely hot. The sun beat down mercilessly on the ground. Su Xin took a shower, changed into a short-sleeved shirt, put on some light makeup, grabbed the meager amount of cash she had left, and went out.

Su Xin hadn’t expected that one day she would be reduced to having only a few hundred yuan across her person, bank card, and all accounts combined. It felt a little pitiful.

Yan Shuang had changed into casual clothes, but they were still white—a white shirt and white pants. She seemed to have a special fondness for this color.
