Plan A
Spirit Alliance 5
Qianqian
Su Xin followed Ling Tian, but kept thinking about Bai Qianqian, wondering how to build a good relationship with this mission target and then proceed accordingly.
Su Xin moved to her new home. The assistant rabbit sister was very attentive. Before Su Xin arrived, she had already bought several sets of clothes and placed them in the new home’s wardrobe, along with complete sets of toiletries and skincare products. She even specially labeled everything, worried that the little hamster might accidentally use something that could cause an allergic reaction.
“The teacher will come shortly. They’re human, so be careful not to expose yourself.”
“Mm-hmm, okay.”
“Study hard. The faster you learn, the quicker you’ll be able to receive job notices. Resources aren’t an issue on my end; it mainly depends on whether you’re someone worth supporting. You need to work hard to achieve your wishes. Oh right, which agency is the person you want to help with? Are they from our company?”
Spirits speak more directly to their own kind, without needing to beat around the bush like they do with humans.
“I don’t know. I asked Brother Ling to help me check. Her name is Bai Qianqian.”
“No problem. Can you cook?”
“No.”
This skill had truly never been unlocked.
“I considered hiring a dedicated chef for you, but it’s not realistic right now. Aside from whether it’s convenient for spirits to stay with humans, I remember hamsters are territorial creatures, right?”
“Yes.”
“Then you can order takeout. I recommend Old Pig’s place. They’re very conscientious and the food is delicious. Here’s their takeout card. I’ll let him know you’re one of our kind, and he’ll give you a discount. Don’t worry about takeout being bad – their food is really good.”
Ling Tian advertised for his good friend with a smile on his face, showing great loyalty.
“Thank you, Brother Ling.”
The discount was truly generous – being a spirit had much better benefits than being human.
“Don’t mention it. I’ll assign you two small assistants. I’ll send their information to your phone later. The rabbit should have already set up your phone, computer, and such. You should find them in your room. The numbers should be saved too – mainly the boss’s, mine, and the rabbit’s. You know how to use a phone, right?”
“I do.”
“OK, then there’s no problem.”
Ling Tian let out a sigh of relief. As long as she wasn’t completely helpless with daily life, that was fine. He didn’t want to be a babysitter again, teaching someone how to use modern products step by step. Back then, he had almost couldn’t resist eating that mountain pheasant. Now that pheasant had risen to prominence, though it seemed she still remembered the trauma he had caused her.
“I’ll head out then. Call me if anything comes up. Check the assistant information later and tell me which two people you prefer.”
“Alright, take care, Brother Ling.”
After Ling Tian left, Yangyang finally dared to crawl out of the bag.
“Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, cousin, is this our home?!”
Yangyang paced back and forth on the sofa, looking extremely excited.
“Yes, yes.”
“That’s amazing! Can I have my own little nest?”
Yangyang spun in circles on the sofa, completely different from his timid appearance earlier.
“Of course. I’ll check my assistant’s information first, and then I’ll have them buy you a nest to bring back.”
“Yay!”
“Cousin, I’m going to take a shower first, and you can shower after I’m done.”
“No problem, no problem.”
The rat sprite hummed happily while sitting on the sofa, looking at the huge TV screen across from him. He felt life was perfect – now he could watch mother-in-law dramas without having to sneak around anymore. He could watch whichever one he wanted!
“Cousin, can you help me turn on the TV? I want to watch 《When a Daughter-in-Law Becomes a Mother-in-Law》! Last time I only watched half before being interrupted!”
Yangyang said excitedly, and Su Xin nodded, changing the channel for Yangyang.
Speaking of why a male rat would be so fond of family ethics and dog blood drama [gǒu xuè jù – meaning overly dramatic shows] mother-in-law shows, the world truly is full of wonders.
Su Xin casually grabbed a set of pajamas and went into the bathroom. She first washed her hair and took a bath, cleaning herself thoroughly before changing into the pajamas, then tossed her clothes into the washing machine.
After her bath, she called Yangyang, who was engrossed in watching TV. Yangyang nodded, reluctantly taking his eyes off the screen.
“You can pause this. You don’t need to worry about missing anything while you take your bath. Press here.”
Su Xin demonstrated how to use the pause button for Yangyang. Yangyang cheered, and Su Xin extended her palm, which Yangyang jumped onto.
Su Xin took him to the bathroom and filled the sink halfway with water. The little rat slid in and began cleaning his fur.
Yangyang knew he wasn’t clean and might be carrying many germs, so he wanted to make himself smell nice and fresh. Su Xin provided him with shower gel, changed his water twice, dried him with a towel, and then used a hair dryer to finish drying him.
Yangyang happily ran back to his seat and continued watching TV, tapping the pause button with his little paw to resume the show.
Su Xin picked up the takeout card. The restaurant was simply called Old Pig’s Restaurant. The takeout card was like any ordinary one, but it had many varieties and choices.
Su Xin called and ordered a green pepper and shredded pork rice.
After becoming a spirit, the body could break free from certain limitations. For example, while hamsters previously could only eat vegetables and couldn’t handle peppers, after becoming human, there were no restrictions.
The takeout arrived quickly. Su Xin saw a man wearing a work uniform with a kind-hearted smile.
“I heard from the tiger about a new member, so I wanted to meet you. That’s why I personally delivered your meal this time. You can’t go wrong choosing my Old Pig’s place for food.”
“Mm-hmm, thank you, Brother Pig.”
Hmm… that sounded a bit strange.
“No problem, no problem.”
Su Xin paid the money. There was a stack of cash sitting on the bedside cabinet, so she wasn’t worried about money for now – at least she could afford to order takeout and buy drinks.
Su Xin once again marveled at how thoughtful the higher-ups were. This company was incredibly good. Perhaps it was because of this kind of attentive care between spirits that they could remain so united.
Old Pig gave Su Xin change, and the meal came with complimentary soup. Su Xin’s body didn’t have a big appetite, so after she was full, there were some leftovers which she brought to Yangyang.
Yangyang didn’t mind at all that it was leftover food. Just having something to eat was already good enough. Compared to before, their current life was absolutely luxurious. After he finished the leftovers and drank some soup, he naturally grabbed a tissue from the table, wiped his mouth, then crumpled up the tissue and threw it in the trash bin.
Su Xin nodded approvingly – good, he was very well-behaved.
While Yangyang continued watching the family drama in the living room, Su Xin went to her bedroom, turned on her phone, and began browsing through the messages Ling Tian had sent her.
She selected two assistants who seemed agreeable, and Su Xin sent their information back to Ling Tian, receiving his response.
Ling Tian said the teacher would come to her house at two o’clock tomorrow afternoon. Between now and then, she was free to familiarize herself with everything, and didn’t need to do anything in particular.
Su Xin agreed, and didn’t plan to do anything. For now, she didn’t intend to approach Bai Qianqian directly – she would wait until she had gained some fame before making real-world contact. She could start through social media first.
The peeping little hamster naturally knew Bai Qianqian’s Weibo, but Su Xin didn’t need to rely on the hamster’s memories – she could just search directly.
A profile page quickly appeared on the phone. Su Xin first created an account for herself, then clicked follow.
Bai Qianqian’s Weibo didn’t have many followers, pitifully few in fact. After all, she wasn’t well-known. Perhaps some people had seen her face briefly on TV, but who would remember the name of the character she played, let alone her real name?
Su Xin liked Bai Qianqian’s two most recent Weibo posts, both of which were sharing food photos. Bai Qianqian never spread negative energy on such public platforms, usually just posting photos of blue skies and food. No matter how unhappy she was, she wouldn’t show it in front of others, even online. She would just lock herself in her room, whether to vent through angry shouting or crying, and after sleeping it off for a night, she would feel better again.
However, this time the blow was truly devastating for her, as she no longer had any performance opportunities, not even appearing in third-rate variety shows or as an extra in dramas.
It wasn’t that the producer had such great power to blacklist her in the industry – there was no need for that. Since Bai Qianqian was just an unknown minor player, all it took was a word to her agent, and if the agent didn’t fight for any opportunities for her, she would naturally be finished.
Su Xin started chatting with Bai Qianqian on Weibo, telling her she was the girl who had stood naked at her doorstep that day, borrowed clothes from her, and stayed at her house for a few days.
Bai Qianqian was online and responded quickly.
Bai Qianqian: I never would have guessed it was you! I remember you, you’re very cute.
Su Xin: Mm-hmm, I remember you too. Actually, we’ve met before, you just don’t remember.
Bai Qianqian: Oh? When was that? A cute girl like you, I would definitely remember if I’d seen you before.
Su Xin: It was when I was little. You once saved my life.
Bai Qianqian: Huh??? I did something that amazing? How come I don’t remember?
Su Xin: It was just an unconscious act from you, but it saved me. You’re a very kind person. I searched for a long time and finally found you. Today I actually wanted to come thank you in person, but some things happened, and I ended up appearing before you in a very embarrassing state. I’m really sorry about that.
Bai Qianqian: Oh my… Actually, when you appeared in front of my house that day, you startled me. Anyone who didn’t know better might have thought an angel had fallen from the sky.
Su Xin: You’re very beautiful too, becoming more and more beautiful. I’m your fangirl. I’ve watched every show you’ve been in.
The little hamster really was a fangirl, though she hadn’t actually watched all of her shows – after all, being limited by her rodent form. It didn’t matter if the little hamster hadn’t watched them all; she would watch them.
A knock came at the door, and Su Xin walked out holding her phone.
The author has something to say:
Su Xin: 【To Bai Qianqian】 I’m your fangirl!
Chu Qiu: Say that again.
Su Xin: Who was just speaking?
On the possibility of being as timid as a mouse.
Don’t worry, the lifespan issue doesn’t exist in this copy.
