Plan A
Interstellar Guardian 18
Wind and Rain
Things progressed smoothly beyond expectations, and Xika became one of them.
Xika only asked one question, pointing at Su Xin, asking if she could stay with her.
If allowed, she would agree unconditionally, willing to do anything.
Renee looked at Su Xin, and Su Xin nodded in agreement.
Xika didn’t have any other intentions, she simply wanted to be close to the powerful spiritual being.
But others didn’t think so, Lanna watched Xika who stood next to Su Xin, wanting to touch her but not daring to because of Renee, feeling that his previous understanding had been completely overturned – she must be a yaoguai (a supernatural being or monster in Chinese mythology).
Xika wasn’t like this before, did she feed all her aloofness to the insect beasts?
“Be good.”
Su Xin stroked the girl’s black hair, and Xika squinted her eyes in satisfaction, feeling very comfortable being close to such power.
“Then can I move in to live here?”
Xika said while striking while the iron was hot, looking at Su Xin with an expectant face.
Weren’t they the ones asking Xika to join? It really looked more like Xika was eagerly paying to stick to someone.
“Of course.”
Su Xin nodded.
“Mia will arrange a room for you.”
Su Xin’s gaze turned toward little Mia, and Mia nodded.
“The room at the very back of the second floor.”
Mia said.
Moran stuck her head out from her room to watch the excitement, but when she saw that things were almost over, she pulled it back in and closed the door.
The room at the very back of the second floor was adjacent to Moran’s room, and Xika walked there first.
“Can I tidy it up myself?”
Xika asked Su Xin, even though Renee was the big boss.
“Of course.”
Su Xin followed Renee to Renee’s room, they decided to sleep together tonight, this was Renee’s request, as she believed this was how couples should be.
Lanna and Mia watched in surprise as the big boss and Su Xin walked into one room, then watched as Xika went into her own room to tidy up, tsk, this was truly an extraordinary night.
As soon as Su Xin entered Renee’s room, she felt what it meant to receive preferential treatment. Renee’s room was very well decorated, mainly because everything was brand new, looking exceptionally comfortable.
“From now on, live together with me.”
Renee said in a seemingly careless tone while taking off her clothes, though only she knew how nervous she felt inside.
Renee felt somewhat self-mocking, after all, she had never thought she would invite someone to share a bed, and was even afraid of being rejected.
“Okay.”
Su Xin nodded, without any objection.
This wish had essentially tied her and Renee together, and rolling together (a casual way to describe becoming intimate) with Renee was simply her own preference. Previously, Su Xin didn’t care whether she was with men or women, though her mindset leaned toward men because that was what society expected.
Everyone believes that men and women should be together, this is a natural law passed down since ancient times, not just for reproduction-related activities. Su Xin hadn’t known before that love could develop between people of the same sex, but after learning about it, she didn’t reject the idea, and instead felt something inexplicable.
That inexplicable feeling was that rather than finding a man to live with, a soft and delicate woman seemed nice too. It wasn’t about gender, but rather about eye fate (meaning natural attraction or compatibility at first sight) and personality.
There won’t be people with identical personalities in this world, just like replicas, just as there won’t be identical snowflakes and leaves in this world. There are men who are as capable as a thousand warriors, and there are timid feminine men. There are women who are weak and easily bullied, and there are women who care about the world.
Su Xin wore undergarments while sleeping in bed, beneath the clothes were marks left by Renee. If they were to talk about gender roles, both she and Renee would be considered ‘dominants.’
Using just male and female was already too narrow-minded, otherwise what would beta count as?
Renee responded with a smile, looking not surprised at all, the weight in her heart finally settling.
The next day, Su Xin saw Xika coming to cling to her. She held Xika’s hand, refusing her behavior of being a background spirit (referring to someone who follows extremely closely like a ghost), as having someone stick to her back wasn’t very pleasant, especially for someone as sensitive as her.
Xika was somewhat dissatisfied, but under Renee’s death stare, she could only pitifully hold Su Xin’s hand and start absorbing.
Fourteen felt apologetic about its own power for the first time. It had asked Su Xin if she needed to completely hide her aura, which would prevent Xika’s harassment, but Su Xin refused.
Xika was a rare talent, keeping her close had more benefits than drawbacks, and to keep Xika around, they could only rely on the powerful spiritual energy that Fourteen revealed. If it was completely hidden, Su Xin believed Xika would leave without hesitation, without even a bit of attachment, it wouldn’t exist.
It was just having one more clingy companion, not something unbearable. If viewed with a different mindset, it could actually be quite interesting.
Except for showing excessive intimacy toward Su Xin and fear toward Renee, Xika maintained her previous attitude toward others – ignoring them and being face-blind (prosopagnosia, inability to recognize faces).
Lanna sighed deeply several times, his usually invincible charm had crumbled to pieces with Xika, because she kept asking him the same question: who he was.
After staying here for a few days, with everyone not hiding their true personalities, Su Xin had thoroughly understood everyone. Moran, after being trained by Xika for these days, had also changed in personality. At least when maintaining this facade, that strong sense of dissonance had faded or even disappeared.
Lanna appeared to be a refined young gentleman, elegant and gentle, polite to everyone, but was actually a somewhat chattery and playful artistic youth who really enjoyed bantering with Mia.
Mia looked like a soft and cute shota (Japanese term for an adorable young boy), but was actually sharp-tongued and tsundere (Japanese term for someone who acts cold but is actually caring), meticulous in thinking, very much like a violent girl. He complemented Lanna well, and they made a great pair of partners.
Their disguises were highly deceptive, though Renee had long known their true natures and found nothing strange about the contrast.
During these days of getting to know each other, Su Xin was basically idle with nothing to do. Renee hadn’t gone out these days, seeming very busy, constantly handling matters on her light brain, while Mia was nowhere to be seen with Moran.
Xika wasn’t clinging to her side, gone to who knows where.
Everything seemed both peaceful and not peaceful, with undercurrents surging. The entire C1 star appeared unchanged, but in the distant Central Star, waves were slowly rising, until finally reaching their peak.
Su Xin sat in Renee’s room watching movies with her eyes closed, while Renee sat at a desk not far away handling matters.
“I need to go meet someone, you’ll come with me.”
Renee broke the room’s silence, closing her light brain and turning in her chair to look at Su Xin. Su Xin nodded, indicating she understood.
Renee changed into black clothing, making her whole person look like an unsheathed blade, carrying an imposing aura.
Mia and Lanna looked somewhat excited, watching Renee with enthusiasm but saying nothing.
Su Xin raised an eyebrow, knowing they must know something.
C1 star was too big to travel by walking, but hovering trains didn’t exist either – there was only one such train in the entire C1 star. People used it for commuting, though it only operated in C1 star’s urban area. Mia’s area was considered a suburban wealthy villa district, quite far from the city center.
Small aircraft, which were very common on other planets, were rarely seen on C1 star. This wasn’t for any particular reason except that C1 star’s people simply disliked things flying in the sky and wanted to shoot them down. Large vessels like spaceships didn’t count, but they particularly enjoyed destroying aircraft.
From home to Renee’s destination, they went by vehicle.
When Su Xin saw their mode of transportation, she could only say it was cool – it was a heavy motorcycle that looked really powerful.
Renee straddled the mecha bike, glancing at Su Xin, who sat behind her and wrapped her arms around Renee’s waist.
The speed was incredibly fast; Su Xin felt like they whooshed forward in an instant, leaving only the sound of the engine and exhaust behind. Her soft short hair flew wildly in the air, while Renee’s long hair was tied up, completely unaffected.
The motorcycle stopped at a place, and Renee walked through the streets and alleys with obvious familiarity, showing no sign of unfamiliarity.
They arrived at a peculiar house, whose appearance was even more unbearable to look at than Lanna and Mia’s. Mia’s was just a bit strange, but this building before them was twisted to an extreme, both its angles and appearance exuding oddity.
However, like Mia’s house, it seemed to contain a different world inside, completely different from its exterior.
Su Xin realized who Renee was visiting and guessed a bit about what Renee planned to do, inwardly clicking her tongue at the massive game Renee was playing.
If things developed according to Renee’s plan, it would surely cause major turbulence, and the waves from the center of power would inevitably sweep across all places.
He was a frail-looking young man wearing glasses. His expression was cold, but when he saw Renee, he showed an unusual enthusiasm. He described his research results while leading Renee to his laboratory, asking Su Xin to stay outside.
Su Xin nodded indifferently and waited outside. She knew this young man, not through Fourteen, but from the original host’s memories.
A genius researcher who had been sentenced to death for researching forbidden drugs, yet now he wasn’t dead but living well on C1 star, continuing his research.
Somehow wind started blowing outside, and the previously clear weather suddenly changed its hexagrams (referring to a sudden change, derived from I-Ching divination). The sky at the horizon turned gloomy, heavy blackness foretelling the coming storm.
Almost in the next second, rain poured down.
This place was different from other well-protected planets – it didn’t have an artificial protective shield keeping all natural disasters out. Seeing such fierce winds and rain was almost impossible in other places, even though it wasn’t considered a good thing.
Su Xin wasn’t worried about how to return, as the motorcycle had a rain-protection function; the manufacturer had clearly considered C1 star’s environment.
When Renee came out, Su Xin was already waiting at the door, watching the downpour outside without any surprise, her expression unchanged.
What moved her was only the person leaning against the doorframe, who slightly lifted their chin at her and spoke words that were plain yet warm.
“Let’s go home.”
“Okay.”
