Fate Trading System – Chapter 125

Plan A

Interstellar Guardian 10

Insect Beasts

This situation made Renee’s mother very anxious. Nearly everyone here was a relative of her husband, and if her affair was discovered, the dire consequences were entirely predictable.

So she made an unusually bold decision—to destroy a precious Alpha.

While pregnant, she told everyone that the child in her belly was a Beta, and no one suspected a thing.

Everything seemed calm and peaceful.

When Renee’s mother was pregnant, she secretly went to another place for prenatal check-ups, so no one knew.

To prevent her child’s true identity from being discovered, she specifically found a doctor from the black market to deliver the baby and then have the doctor perform surgery on the child.

Surgery on newborns involves more procedures than on adults because their organs are not fully developed. However, it is also much more dangerous due to their lower immunity.

From infancy, Renee’s physical condition was extraordinary, and the surgery was very successful.

When Su Xin saw this, she thought, “Wow,” and exclaimed, “No wonder Renee’s physical and mental strength is so exceptional, yet she is a Beta.”

In that case, essentially, the two of them should be the same.

It’s just that one chose to “cut it off” willingly, while the other had it removed before they even had thoughts of their own.

Initially, Renee thought she was just an unloved Beta by her mother, even though she was very outstanding.

Later, Renee’s mother had a second child and almost completely ignored Renee.

She didn’t hate this child; she was just terrified. Renee was proof of her infidelity, like a ticking time bomb.

Renee grew up being ignored, and her personality gradually became dark and twisted. She vaguely felt that she shouldn’t be like this, but didn’t know where things had gone wrong.

Renee accidentally overheard her parents arguing. At that time, her father was injured and lost a lot of blood, urgently needing a transfusion. Renee was brought up as a potential donor, raising concerns.

The doctor told Renee’s father that although the blood type was fine, it would be best to use a close relative’s blood. Renee’s father was surprised, knowing the donor was his eldest daughter.

This sparked a confrontation, during which Renee heard the whole story and ran away pale-faced.

No one could be unaware of the concept of an Alpha. Renee came to resent her unfaithful mother, who had ruined her life.

Because her identity was exposed, Renee’s mother faced punishment. However, since she had already given Renee’s father two children, and interstellar law forbade polygamy, life went on as before.

But Renee’s situation was different. Her father had no reason to support a child that wasn’t his, so Renee was kicked out of the house.

What a tragedy.

Afterward, Renee wandered to a notorious “garbage planet,” a place filled with filth and corruption, overrun by criminals. It was there that Renee went through a transformative period in her life.

She was already very distrustful of others, and that place completely destroyed any remaining trust she had. She traveled to many places, living as an undocumented person, before finally using Renee’s identity to apply for military school, starting the near-legendary life that people later came to know.

That period was a gray, shameful memory, like disgusting bugs in a swamp—something she preferred not to mention.

This is why Renee was so strict with herself, never relaxing even for a moment.

Renee didn’t climb to such heights for any particular reason, just out of defiance. Even a flawed Alpha still possessed strength that could rival others.

The further she went, the less control she had over her own life.

Su Xin mourned for three seconds for the general’s “ding ding” that was lost right after birth.

No wonder the general felt such an urge to hit her when smelling her pheromones; now it all made sense.

Dinner was still the usual nutrient solution, making Su Xin feel somewhat lifeless. But at the thought of soon going to fight the insect beasts, she perked up—after all, that’s real meat!

Renee had no idea that this person in front of her already knew all about her secrets. After drinking the nutrient solution, she sat on the sofa looking at her light brain. The screen was open toward Su Xin, who glanced curiously before looking away, seeing nothing but a mass of numbers and letters she couldn’t understand.

In her mind, Fourteen seemed very interested in what was on Renee’s screen and began to analyze it for Su Xin.

Su Xin felt a bit dizzy from all the technical jargon, while Fourteen seemed a bit excited.

【This person is really impressive.】

Fourteen remarked. What Renee had created wasn’t particularly advanced or difficult to decipher, at least in Fourteen’s view. However, it was exceptionally well-hidden, very adept at exploiting loopholes, and carried a strong viral capability.

Su Xin touched her mecha pendant, mentally agreeing with Fourteen.

Three days later, the spaceship flew from the capital star to Star B-30.

Su Xin gazed at the vast universe outside, struck by its expansive beauty, while the others felt indifferent, being accustomed to it.

Sitting in her seat, Su Xin watched the seemingly napping Renee.

Renee appeared calm and composed, showing no signs of tension about heading into a dragon’s lair and tiger’s den.

Su Xin understood why—someone who had spent time on a “garbage planet” had little left to fear.

After disembarking from the spaceship, Renee was welcomed, and Su Xin, following beside her, saw an old friend.

Wasn’t this the roommate who had destroyed the original owner’s light brain?

Tommy saw Su Xin and gave a stiff smile.

“General, the current battle situation is like this…”

The commander of the Second Legion walked just behind Renee, briefing her on the current situation. Su Xin found herself unintentionally pushed a few people away from Renee, but still close enough, so she continued to follow along.

“Ge Wei… long time no see. Weren’t you on B-32… How come you’re with the general?”

Tommy, beside Su Xin, pretended to be curious, as if knowing nothing.

“Thanks to you, right? I’m grateful for getting a new light brain to use.”

The corners of Su Xin’s mouth lifted, carrying a blatant tone of mockery.

“Hmm? Ge Wei, what are you talking about?”

Tommy widened her eyes, looking at Su Xin as if she were baffled.

Unfortunately, her acting wasn’t very convincing. Su Xin easily spotted her stiffness and panic and let out a snort of laughter.

“Ge Wei… what’s wrong? Aren’t we good friends?”

Tommy continued trying to cozy up to her.

“No, we’re not. Now, keep your distance.”

“How can you say that! Just because you’re with General Renee, you look down on people?”

Tommy said angrily.

Su Xin couldn’t care less about her anger. She was most annoyed by being around manipulative people with insufficient intelligence.

“Out of the hundreds of planets in the three major star systems of the universe, how did I end up bumping into you? Don’t show up in front of me. Are you not aware of what you’ve done? I’m just too lazy to expose it, so scram.”

Su Xin, feeling quite displeased as she was dragged away by the crowd and pushed further from Renee, didn’t want to be polite. She finished speaking and quickly hurried to catch up.

Tommy stood there with an unpleasant expression, clenched her fists, and followed after them.

Renee was already in the central control room, overseeing the entire B-30 star. The situation indeed looked grim, with more than half of the planet covered by dense red dots.

Renee was unwilling to question why things had turned out this way or the efficiency of their methods. She gave orders in a steady voice.

They had already failed in their attacks twice before, with the soldiers’ mechas, along with their bodies, being completely devoured, which makes one’s scalp tingle.

Renee didn’t call in reinforcements from the First Legion, as this was clearly a move targeted at her, and there was no need to involve innocent people.

“General! With only these forces, I’m afraid…”

“Can’t you go up yourself?”

Renee tapped her fingers on the control console, looking coldly at the commander.

“I think you haven’t forgotten that you are also a soldier of the Federation, hmm?”

“Yes, ma’am!”

The commander saluted, appearing upright and righteous.

Renee remained expressionless, revealing nothing about what she was thinking.

In her private lounge, Renee shut off all the surveillance equipment and opened her light brain for communication.

“Going this far? Are you crazy?”

Renee ignored the frantic reaction from the person on the other end and issued her orders one by one.

After ending the communication, Renee gazed at the vast sea of stars outside and closed her eyes wearily.

Su Xin stood guard at the door for Renee, her expression calm.

The insect beasts launched a new wave of harassment, attacking the base.

Massive vanguard insect beasts used their hard bodies to ram the shields, displaying a relentless determination.

Thousands of mechas flew out from the base, engaging in fierce combat.

Su Xin had Fourteen pinpoint Renee’s location, ensuring she wouldn’t lose track of her.

Even in battle, she intended to stay by her side without a step away.

Su Xin felt a sense of regret as she watched these disgusting-looking yet surprisingly tasty insect beasts fall one after another. What a waste to see them die in such numbers.

Renee stood out remarkably, even among more than a thousand mechas, easily recognizable.

Wherever she went, swathes of insect beasts fell, gradually becoming a focal point of attack. The insect beasts stopped engaging with other mechas and began spraying slime at Renee’s mecha, attempting to corrode it.

Renee’s mecha, having undergone numerous modifications by her, was unaffected by the insect beasts’ slime. She charged into the swarm, engaging in fierce combat.

Renee’s presence undoubtedly brought the greatest hope to this battle, energizing the soldiers.

They fought further and further, eventually pushing the insect beasts back to the edge of the planet.

The insect beasts were unique; they could move through space without being affected by the atmosphere or gravity, traveling to other locations.

Su Xin thought they were like locusts, leaving desolation in their wake.

Humans, however, were different. Although their physical capabilities had reached a very high level, they still couldn’t ignore atmospheric conditions and needed oxygen.

Cheers of victory erupted as they were about to drive the insects away.

Yet, the turn of events was unexpected. As the insect army retreated, they launched a final attack. A massive swarm gathered, overwhelming and dragging away a mecha at the forefront.

“General!”

Perhaps it was only surprising to most people.

Su Xin had been wary of someone striking from the shadows, not expecting the insects to make one last move.

The author has something to say:

Su Xin: When she smells my scent, she definitely wants to hit me.

Renee: Heh.
