Fate Trading System – Chapter 123

Plan A

Interstellar Guardian 8

Setting out

Such an environment tests one’s mental fortitude the most, easily driving people to madness.

This is a very common interrogation technique, inflicting both physical and psychological damage. Those with weak mental resilience typically break down quickly.

Su Xin felt it was manageable, as she had undergone this type of training before, and the original host Ge Wei’s physical constitution was exceptionally robust. This level of treatment didn’t affect her much, though it still depended on duration – there’s a vast difference between being confined for one day versus one month.

However, Su Xin wasn’t afraid of being alone, after all, she had a system in her mind to chat with, like they’d joined the “elderly group” (reference to elderly people who spend time chatting leisurely).

【Host, I give up. I’ve decided to seek the next candidate.】

Hmm?

【Her destructive desires are too intense, difficult to control.】

No one likes trouble, even if Fourteen isn’t human but a system, it prefers things to be uncomplicated.

That person might be very excellent and outstanding, just with major character flaws. Their abilities are undeniable, but they’re unsuitable for the client’s work.

Then find the next one. With so many worlds and exceptional people, you’ll surely find someone suitable, Master Fourteen.

【Mm.】

If Su Xin could see Fourteen’s anthropomorphized form now, she’d be surprised to see a slight smile on its typically ice-cold face.

As a system with personified characteristics, it wasn’t like this in the beginning. Through many worlds and two hosts, they had both grown significantly.

Master Fourteen, is there anything you want?

【No.】

As a system, Fourteen only needed to do its job properly. It wasn’t truly human and wouldn’t have such desires.

That’s good too.

Su Xin closed her eyes, immersing herself in darkness. Time to sleep first.

Long ago, she had trained herself in this skill – being able to fall asleep anywhere, anytime when her body felt tired, in various positions, while remaining alert enough to become vigilant quickly when someone approached.

Su Xin didn’t know how much time had passed in this cramped space. Whenever she asked, Fourteen would answer her.

It’s been two days already.

Renee was immersed in busyness, her face showing subtle signs of weariness, with bloodshot eyes. She undid the first button of her military uniform, breaking that ascetic (meaning ‘abstinent’ or ‘restrained’) appearance, looking extremely agitated.

“Do they have a death wish?”

Renee sat in her chair, her gaze cold.

The person on the video call with her felt the pressure – despite not being in the same space, Biang felt as if Renee was suffocating him.

“B-31 star has already fallen, and B-30 star is in crisis. They’ve sent an urgent request, asking for you, General…”

“It seems I haven’t shown my hand in too long, and they’ve forgotten, haven’t they?”

Renee twirled her electronic pen as the Star Network had begun applying public opinion pressure on her.

B-30 star was a frontier zone – if lost, it could easily cause public panic.

The Second Army Corps stationed at the frontier was under Renee’s command – this trip was unavoidable.

It wasn’t that Renee was cowardly, hiding in the capital star unwilling to leave, but if she went now, she’d certainly be surrounded by people with ill intentions. Such a small uprising – how could they not suppress it? Yet they insisted on making a big show of requesting her presence.

If she went, it would likely be “nine deaths and one life” (meaning extremely dangerous).

Renee’s current situation wasn’t as optimistic as common people perceived. In their eyes, she was the lofty Imperial General, wielding great power, seemingly omnipotent.

But in reality, she was under attack from all sides, with her power being “watched like a tiger stalking its prey” (meaning being eyed enviously).

The Federation was called a federation, but its internal structure was no longer as diverse as it was many years ago. The federal government’s power had grown increasingly concentrated, almost reaching the point of monopolizing discourse. While Renee was the people’s chosen leader, she was also unwelcome by certain factions.

Some coveted her military power, and her identity always gave others reasons to doubt her.

She was a Beta.

No matter how powerful she was, even surpassing many Alphas in excellence, any slight mistake would be linked to her genetics by those with ulterior motives, then infinitely magnified. After further manipulation, it would become an enormous error – utterly disgusting.

“General…”

“Prepare for my arrival. I want to see just how many of those who once followed me at the frontier have changed their minds.”

Renee sneered and cut off the communication.

Renee thought of that person at home – it had been two days already, wondering what state she was in now.

Renee wasn’t particularly worried – it was only two days after all. If a double-A Alpha couldn’t handle this much, she would have been useless long ago.

Just wait a bit longer.

Renee smiled, tidied up the items on her desk, and continued handling official business.

Since they wanted to play, she’d show them how to play.

Su Xin felt dazed when the world suddenly became bright. She felt she had reached a meditative state, her mood very peaceful. It seemed like barely any time had passed – was she letting her out already?

Reality proved Su Xin was too naive. Though her vision brightened, there was no one in front of her. Su Xin moved her stiffened body, flexing her fingers.

The attack came swift and fierce, but Su Xin dodged with remarkable speed.

She had kept her confined silently for two days, and now started fighting as soon as she could see – she hadn’t even eaten yet.

Su Xin clenched her fist, the pendant on her chest growing subtly warm.

Madwoman.

Su Xin was referring to Renee. The situation was now very clear – this was clearly a training program. Fourteen had already read the program network here, and the data showed that before she entered, this place had been used many times. Who else could it be but the owner of this place?

It was an extremely crazy and extreme training method, seemingly designed to mobilize the power of every muscle and cell, then achieve breakthrough progress.

AI humanoid close combat, mecha battles, mecha versus insect beasts – Su Xin trained non-stop, without time to communicate with Fourteen in her mind, forgetting how many days she’d gone without food or water.

Su Xin felt that if she could walk out of here, she’d probably be “half-ruined” (meaning severely exhausted or damaged).

Feeling pitiful, thinking that after getting out she could only have nutrient solution to eat made her feel even more miserable.

She wanted to eat crayfish, cola-flavored chicken wings, shredded pork with chili peppers, and fragrant rice – wawawa!

If those weren’t available, even insect beasts would do, but there weren’t any here.

When Su Xin finally saw Renee, she was nearly fainting.

She rushed forward and hugged the person, habitually acting coquettish by nuzzling her neck, then realized something was wrong, stepped back two paces, and straightened her spine.

“Commander!”

She had instinctively thought it was Qiu Qingqing and had pounced forward seeking to be fed.

She might have been made foolish by the shredded pork with chili peppers spinning endlessly in her mind, but fortunately, she quickly came to her senses.

Renee hadn’t expected this reaction. While monitoring Su Xin’s condition, she had considered several scenarios, but hadn’t anticipated this almost coquettish behavior.

However, she quickly shifted out of that state and became serious.

“You did very well. Follow me.”

Su Xin went to the bathroom first, as she was covered in sweat, feeling sticky and uncomfortable.

After showering, Su Xin’s body swayed. Actually, her physical condition wasn’t suitable for showering right after coming out, but she did it anyway.

Su Xin had no clothes to wear and walked out casually.

Renee’s gaze paused, seeming somewhat annoyed at forgetting this detail.

However, her eyes curiously focused on one spot, which Su Xin noticed, and after greeting, she looked at Renee somewhat troubled.

“Commander, I’m really sorry…”

“It’s my oversight. Wear my clothes for now, I’ll have someone purchase new ones for you immediately.”

Renee nodded, gesturing for her to sit down.

Xiao Yi was preparing nutrient solution in the kitchen, and Su Xin felt desperate – she really didn’t want to drink nutrient solution.

Renee sensed Su Xin’s reluctance but misinterpreted it as unwillingness to wear her clothes.

“You can rest assured, those clothes have never been worn.”

“I’m not concerned about that. In fact, Commander, I wouldn’t mind wearing any of your clothes.”

Except for that revealing lingerie!

“However… Commander… do you have anything else to eat here besides nutrient solution?”

“Hmm… no.”

Renee said definitively.

Su Xin resignedly drank the nutrient solution while Xiao Yi went to find clothes in the room.

Renee’s curiosity persisted. In fact, she had no fondness for that thing belonging to Alphas and male Betas, let alone male Omegas. She really didn’t find their scent attractive at all, yet others would become intoxicated and even reach the point of madness over the substances Omegas released during their heat.

“Curious?”

Su Xin brazenly spread her legs – after all, they were both girls. What you have, I have too; what you don’t have that I had has been removed.

For the surgery preparation, Su Xin’s “black forest” (pubic area) had been completely shaved. It was cleaned thoroughly, with no dark stubble in that area, looking exceptionally pleasing to the eye. Su Xin felt a bit awkward seeing it herself – the doctor had been quite thorough in transforming her into a perfect girl.

With a boom, something seemed to explode in their minds.

Renee caught an exceptionally sweet scent – it was like aged wine, boldly radiating its mellow fragrance.

“What are you doing?”

Renee’s gaze turned sharp as knives, cutting towards Su Xin.

Su Xin looked innocent – she hadn’t done anything.

Could it be that her mental yearning for cola chicken wings had been discovered?

“Retract your pheromones.”

Renee’s face was ice-cold.

Su Xin blinked repeatedly, secretly pulling them back – oh my, she’d been caught.
