Plan A
Rise in Another World 23
Ruyi
Su Xin felt as if warm blood had dripped into her eyes. She forcefully closed her eyes and then opened them again to assess Nan Cheng’s condition.
Su Xin’s sword had been thrown back by Lang Xun, imbued with his power.
Nan Cheng used her body as a buffer, gripping the sword with one hand behind her back and pulling it out.
“Go.”
Su Xin’s eyes were filled with blood, tinting her vision crimson.
In her ears, she heard Nan Cheng’s suppressed, painful gasps. Su Xin clenched her fists.
Why did it have to be like this again?
This was actually her mission, yet she always ended up involving others and causing them harm.
She knew that if she went alone, even if she got hurt, no one would worry or feel sad for her. But she always wanted someone by her side.
Nan Cheng knew her body couldn’t withstand a second heavy blow. She struggled to stand up, her clothes stained red with blood.
Su Xin saw Yu Si, who had fallen into a semi-comatose state, and grabbed her hand.
A sea of fire separated everyone’s line of sight, like a fire dragon about to devour everything around it.
Su Xin used her wind-based ability to escape with Yu Si and Nan Cheng.
A column of water descended from the sky, extinguishing the sea of fire.
Lang Xun frowned, not expecting Su Xin to have such power for a final counterattack.
“Brother, should we pursue them?” Lang Yan asked, her hand still dripping with blood. She seemed completely unconcerned as she inquired.
“Not for now. Let’s treat the wound on your hand first. They won’t be able to leave the eighth floor because the entrance is with us. We’ll meet again.”
Lang Xun looked at the wound on Lang Yan’s hand. They couldn’t escape; sooner or later, they would be in his grasp.
Su Xin didn’t know which direction to go. She just kept running forward, pulling the other two along, worriedly glancing at Nan Cheng.
It seemed they had left the Ruyi family’s territory and arrived somewhere unknown.
Su Xin climbed over a high wall and entered an empty room at random. After all, these places were so large with so many rooms, most of them unoccupied, making it unlikely for them to be discovered.
After placing the semi-conscious Yu Si on the bed, Su Xin embraced Nan Cheng, who was tending to her own wounds.
Nan Cheng had reverted to her original form, a cat with fur almost dyed red, licking her wounds bit by bit.
Su Xin hadn’t left the Sky-reaching Tower for a long time, so all the medicines she had brought from the mortal world had been used up. However, her ring still contained some herbs collected from certain places in the Sky-reaching Tower that could be used to stop bleeding and promote recovery.
Su Xin quickly took out these herbs. Yu Si was in a semi-comatose state and couldn’t use water magic to clean Nan Cheng’s wounds.
The injured area had already been licked clean by Nan Cheng herself. Su Xin chewed the herbs in her mouth and carefully applied them to the wound.
Although the method was ancient and lacked the prestige of a magician’s techniques, it was the best they could do for now.
The tail… was severed.
Nan Cheng felt hot droplets falling on her body and looked up in shock.
Su Xin looked at her severed tail, her fingers stroking the cat’s fur. Her expression was very calm, but it revealed an indescribable sadness.
Nan Cheng never imagined that one day this person would cry, and cry for her.
Nan Cheng hurriedly jumped off Su Xin’s body and transformed into human form. The blood on her wound had coagulated.
“Why… why… I’m sorry.”
Nan Cheng wiped Su Xin’s tears awkwardly, apologizing, her eyes full of remorse. It was all because she was too weak; she thought she already had the strength to protect Su Xin.
“Why are you apologizing?”
“I should be the one apologizing.”
“I’m sorry.”
Su Xin didn’t know what she looked like now, but she felt she couldn’t control herself. Her consciousness was very clear, knowing she was sad and feeling guilty.
“Please don’t cry anymore, okay?”
Nan Cheng felt her heart aching.
When Su Xin cried, she didn’t wail or shout. If you didn’t look at her face, you wouldn’t even know she was crying.
Silent yet painful.
Su Xin wiped away her tears. She had always believed that tears were proof of weakness because they were useless.
But… when emotions became overwhelming, she realized what a good way it was to express feelings.
“There won’t be a next time,” Su Xin said softly.
“Furan, it’s okay. I’m not in pain at all, and I’m happy to be able to shield you from harm. Don’t you remember? I’m a nine-lives cat. I have nine lives. Excluding the first one and just now, I still have seven left, many, many more.”
Nan Cheng’s fingers gently touched Su Xin’s face, caressing her brows and eyes.
“Transform back to your original form and rest well. Even if you have many lives, they’re not meant to be wasted. Besides, that’s your life, you don’t need to sacrifice it for others.”
Su Xin embraced the cat that had transformed back to its original form and kissed the flame between its brows.
“Be kinder to yourself. This was my own business to begin with, and you didn’t need to get involved.”
If it was for her own mission, making companions was fine. But if it was because of her, because she wasn’t strong enough and led to bad results, Su Xin would feel very displeased with herself.
“I don’t mind. Actually, I really don’t like it when you talk to me like this.”
Human words came from the cat’s mouth, sounding softer compared to her previous human form.
“I really hate it when you talk to me like this. Have you forgotten who I am to you? You are my master. It’s only right for me to dedicate everything to you. Please remember this. I willingly dedicate everything to you.”
I willingly dedicate everything to you, presenting all my affection.
Su Xin was stunned, not knowing what to say.
Nan Cheng closed her eyes, not saying the second half of what was in her heart.
It’s impossible to dedicate everything without seeking any return. For Nan Cheng, the return she wanted was for Su Xin to like her.
If this couldn’t be achieved, then she could settle for second best – as long as she could accompany her, either as a person or a cat, for a long time, and absolutely not allow any other living beings to appear.
If that time really came, Nan Cheng didn’t know what she might do.
Su Xin placed Nan Cheng on the soft bed and began to check on Yu Si’s condition.
Yu Si appeared to have no external injuries, but her internal injuries must be severe.
She had fallen into a complete coma. Su Xin gave her medicine.
After treating both of their wounds, Su Xin sat in a chair, feeling the pain from her own wounds.
For some unknown reason, Su Xin had never really felt the pain from her own wounds before.
Su Xin stayed in the room, not wandering out, and carefully examined the furnishings in the room.
She didn’t know where this place was, but it was certainly one of the other three great families. Today’s scattered cultivators wouldn’t have such a place.
The decorations were very ordinary and plain. There were no particularly valuable items in the room, indicating it was a very ordinary side room.
Su Xin had seen everything before and finally realized where this was.
Behind a standing mirror on the table, there was a mark.
Ruyi.
One of the three great families in the eighth floor, with a very special surname.
She didn’t know if this place was as perverted as the Lang family, but it probably wasn’t much different.
A troublesome existence. Su Xin was worried not only about Nan Cheng and Yu Si’s injuries, but also when they would meet Lang Xun again, whether Lang Xun would relentlessly pursue them, and most importantly, the mission – where was the original host’s mother?
She kept watch until nightfall. Yu Si showed no signs of waking, and Nan Cheng kept her eyes closed, not opening them.
Fortunately, the bed in the Ruyi family’s side room was very large. Even with three people lying side by side, it wasn’t a problem.
Yu Si slept on the innermost part of the bed, Su Xin on the outermost, with Nan Cheng in her cat form, taking up very little space, lying in the middle.
Su Xin thought about keeping her here to recover from her injuries before making further plans. There were still some medicines and food left in the ring from before, so there was no need to worry about not having anything to eat or drink for the next few days.
Su Xin thought they could hold out for three or four days, but unexpectedly, they were discovered the very next day.
This was very awkward.
The one who came was a young man wearing a blue robe, with a baby face, looking very cute.
He seemed very surprised to find people in the room, even taking two steps back before entering again.
The unfortunate are beyond help, and Su Xin was just that unlucky. The random courtyard and room she entered happened to be the room of the Ruyi family’s twelfth young master.
Ruyi Min had a habit of liking to change rooms to sleep. Their family was so large that he had his own courtyard with many rooms, fully satisfying his desire to sleep in different beds.
Moreover, the Ruyi twelfth young master didn’t sleep in beds randomly. He had numbered each of his beds and randomly decided which one to sleep in each day.
Today, he happened to choose the bed Su Xin was in to sleep. For the quality of his night’s sleep, Ruyi Min specially came to check the room in the morning, intending to see if it was clean and have it tidied up if necessary. He didn’t expect to see a woman as soon as he entered, which shocked him.
A woman! It’s a woman!
Where did this woman come from in his place?
The Ruyi family had two girls at this time, one was the eldest and one was the ninth.
Sometimes the twelfth wondered whether he should call the eldest sister or mother. He was the child of his eldest sister and father, the twelfth.
The eldest and the ninth hadn’t given birth to children for their brothers yet, but had given birth to several for their father and uncles.
As for how to identify whose child was whose, there were naturally methods.
The family relationships were incredibly chaotic yet strangely clear. The twelfth never bothered to sort it out. He had never touched a woman who was simultaneously his sister, mother, sister-in-law, and aunt. It wasn’t that he didn’t desire it, but he was the youngest and it wasn’t his turn yet.
And today, he saw a woman in his room.
