The Passerby Female Supporting Character – Chapter 89
by Little PandaExtra IF-Line – Modern Arc
About the feeling of being in love
Chi Qianning’s brain froze for a second. After hearing it, she didn’t react right away. Once she realized what Song Linlin had said, Chi Qianning’s face unconsciously started to burn, and she actually blushed.
Luckily, the surroundings in the movie theater were dim, so Song Linlin, who was opposite her, probably couldn’t see her blushing.
She tilted her head slightly. Song Linlin was now extremely close to Chi Qianning. Their gazes met, and in that shared look, their eyes betrayed the nervousness and feigned calmness they both felt at that moment.
Chi Qianning was silent for a good while. This eye contact made her very embarrassed, and she was also too embarrassed to answer the question directly. Finally, Chi Qianning let out a very soft “Mm,” her voice like a light, fluttering feather landing on one’s heart, making it feel ticklish.
Song Linlin was close enough to hear Chi Qianning’s reply clearly. Looking at this beautiful face, so close to her, and thinking about what was about to happen now that Chi Qianning had agreed, a wave of nervousness uncontrollably rose in her heart.
Her thick eyelashes fluttered as she cautiously half-closed her eyes. The already very close distance between them shortened even more. Song Linlin’s breathing unconsciously softened, and her gaze shifted from those red eyes to the other person’s lips.
Chi Qianning’s lips were a pale shade. Every one of her facial features was simply beautiful. Song Linlin drew closer to her, so close that she could feel the air from the other’s breath.
Finally, their lips met. A tentative kiss landed, a soft and slightly cool sensation, like a tempting piece of jelly. Real kissing felt completely different from touching lips with a finger—hard to describe, yet wonderful enough.
Chi Qianning’s eyes were open at this moment. The instant Song Linlin kissed her, her eyes widened involuntarily. Kissing was a new sensation for her. The stimulation from kissing someone else for the first time was too intense, and her body instinctively recoiled a little.
It was a fleeting kiss, like a dragonfly skimming water, lasting only a second or two, yet it greatly unsettled both of them. Sensing Chi Qianning pull back slightly, Song Linlin also opened her eyes, and their gazes met again.
“Should we continue?” Song Linlin asked, her forehead touching Chi Qianning’s, in a voice only the two of them could hear.
Chi Qianning looked at Song Linlin, blinked at her, then closed her own eyes and tilted her chin up slightly, signaling her agreement to Song Linlin’s question. Although kissing felt unfamiliar to her, she didn’t dislike this new sensation.
The only thing that probably made her feel a bit awkward was that Song Linlin was clearly younger than her and had always called her “Teacher.”
Although they didn’t have a real teacher-student relationship, the act of kissing Song Linlin in a dark, unnoticed corner of the movie theater still gave Chi Qianning a strong thrill.
Song Linlin raised a hand, placing her palm on Chi Qianning’s cheek and ear. As soon as she touched her, she felt the scorching heat beneath her hand; normal body temperature wasn’t this hot. Only then did Song Linlin realize that Chi Qianning had blushed. It was just a pity she hadn’t been able to see clearly before, so she hadn’t noticed.
She cupped Chi Qianning’s face and kissed her soft lips again. Song Linlin felt like she had simply fallen in love with the sensation of kissing. Chi Qianning’s lips were unbelievably soft; once she kissed them, Song Linlin never wanted to part.
But after all, it was still Song Linlin’s first time kissing someone else. Her inner nervousness was hardly any less than Chi Qianning’s. Even the hand caressing Chi Qianning’s cheek was cupping it gently, not daring to apply any force.
The touch of their lips was even more cautious, as if handling a fragile treasure. She gently kissed the woman before her, the one who had made her heart flutter for the first time. Her originally dry lips gradually became moist from the kissing.
Chi Qianning’s fingers clutched her own clothes. Even with her eyes closed, her eyelashes couldn’t help but tremble lightly as she was kissed, showing a tendency to open. Fortunately, Song Linlin kissed gently enough that even though Chi Qianning was nervous, she could slowly get used to it.
She passively accepted the touch of the other’s lips and the exchange of saliva. Her own lips were now tinged with the other’s taste. Song Linlin could taste the sweetness of popcorn in her own mouth. Originally, Chi Qianning didn’t like eating popcorn, but now she actually thought it seemed pretty good.
This kiss lasted for a minute or two before Song Linlin finally released her cupped hands and leaned her upper body back slightly. She opened her eyes, and the first thing she saw was Chi Qianning’s now moist lips.
Her pale lips had turned a bit red from the kissing, and they were clearly moist. Looking at the other’s lips, Song Linlin subconsciously licked her own.
Chi Qianning also opened her eyes. Seeing Song Linlin lick her lips, her already hot cheeks burned even more, and she hardly dared to look at Song Linlin in front of her.
She raised her hand and gently pushed Song Linlin’s shoulder. Her usually calm tone became flustered, revealing her nervousness. “Let’s… let’s watch the movie…”
“Mm…”
Song Linlin also pulled back and leaned against her seatback again, her eyes fixed on the screen. By now, the main characters in the movie had long finished their kiss and were walking hand in hand on the beach.
Song Linlin turned her head again to look at Chi Qianning. Chi Qianning’s hand was resting on her lap, in a place she could easily reach.
So, she reached out towards Chi Qianning’s hand, her palm suddenly covering the back of the other’s hand. Chi Qianning noticed Song Linlin’s movement. She looked down as Song Linlin’s fingers slipped between her own, their fingers interlacing.
Chi Qianning had, of course, seen the main characters on screen holding hands. Now, with Song Linlin suddenly holding hers, she turned to look at Song Linlin, and in the end, didn’t refuse, letting Song Linlin hold her hand.
By the end of the movie, the part that left the deepest impression on Song Linlin was probably the main characters’ kissing scene. Everything else was too boring, and with Chi Qianning sitting next to her, Song Linlin had no mind to watch anyway.
The two of them had lunch together at the mall, and then, like any other ordinary couple, they strolled hand in hand around the downtown area.
They didn’t go home until it was almost dark, and that was because Song Linlin wanted to cook dinner for Chi Qianning herself. Feeding Chi Qianning food she had made was also a source of joy for Song Linlin.
Song Linlin hummed a song in the kitchen as she chopped vegetables, while Chi Qianning washed vegetables at the nearby sink. She really didn’t understand anything about cooking, so she just did some simple prep work on the side that she was capable of.
Eating the dinner they had made together that evening, even the mundane chores of daily life1 could bring a sense of contentment and happiness.
…
Chi Qianning sat on a chair in the dining room. She had wiped the dining table and kitchen counters clean. With nothing to do now, she leaned back in her chair, her eyes looking towards the kitchen where Song Linlin was washing dishes.
Song Linlin dried the last plate and turned her head to find Chi Qianning watching her from behind. She wiped the water droplets from her hands before walking out of the kitchen. “Teacher Chi, why are you still sitting here? Go sit in the living room.”
Chi Qianning stood up from her chair and nodded. “Okay, let’s go.”
Song Linlin took her hand, led Chi Qianning to the living room sofa, and they sat down. This time, there was no distance between them; they sat right next to each other. Song Linlin turned her head to look at Chi Qianning, meeting those red eyes.
Those usually cool eyes now seemed like snow melting in spring, a gentleness visible deep within them.
After looking at each other quietly for several seconds, Chi Qianning spoke first. The corners of her mouth lifted into a beautiful curve as she chuckled softly and said, “Have you found a bit of that ‘being in love’ feeling now?”
Song Linlin smiled too, then suddenly reached out, cupped Chi Qianning’s face, and kissed her on the cheek. “I think I’ve found it.”
Actually, thinking about it carefully, they hadn’t done anything earth-shattering. The entire day, they had just experienced ordinary things that even friends could do together.
But because the person by their side was different, the feeling was naturally different too. Song Linlin had spent her past twenty years in an ordinary way; being with Chi Qianning was already the most wonderful surprise.
It seemed that being able to maintain this kind of simple happiness in the days to come wouldn’t be bad either.
The author has something to say:
The full story is finished. I personally have a habit of ending things once they get together. Tomorrow, there’s still one more chapter I promised everyone, the maid one, that I need to write, and then it will really be over!
