The Passerby Female Supporting Character – Chapter 79
by Little PandaI Love You
In the early morning, sunlight shone through the window paper into the room. Song Linlin groggily opened her eyes. She was just about to turn over and find a more comfortable position to lie in, but her body was imprisoned by a pair of arms, making it impossible to turn.
Song Linlin strangely looked down and saw another person lying beside her. The person was entirely curled up under the quilt, with only the top of their head exposed.
Probably disturbed by Song Linlin’s movement, Chi Qianning under the quilt also opened her eyes. She lifted her head, looked at Song Linlin who had also just woken up, and only then realized it was already daylight.
“Morning,” Chi Qianning said, her voice still a bit hoarse from just waking up.
Song Linlin stared blankly at the person beside her. It took several seconds before she remembered that she had already left Lianxiang Lou, and they were now in another large city.
And last night, Lin Qianqian had proactively knocked on her door. Song Linlin hadn’t been at ease letting the other person sleep alone, so the two of them ended up sleeping in the same bed.
Song Linlin had been held by Chi Qianning all night. She had been lying on her side, which wouldn’t have been a big deal for a short while, but Song Linlin had maintained that position for an entire night. She felt that half of her body was now numb.
It was unknown how Chi Qianning had managed to hold her for a whole night; now, their legs were also entangled under the quilt. Song Linlin pulled out her leg, which Chi Qianning had been holding between hers. Chi Qianning also loosened her arms that were tightly wrapped around Song Linlin.
Song Linlin propped herself up on the mattress and sat up. The uncomfortable sleeping posture from the night had made her waist a bit sore. Song Linlin subconsciously raised her arms to stretch, and then she belatedly remembered that she had a wound on her stomach. Stretching would pull at the wound, and a bout of pain would be inevitable.
Wait, why don’t I feel any pain?
Previously, when Song Linlin had just woken up and wanted to stretch, usually, as soon as her hands went above her head, a tearing pain would shoot through her stomach. In severe cases, it would even bleed.
Song Linlin lowered her head in confusion, not caring that Chi Qianning was still lying beside her. She grabbed the hem of her top and lifted it up.
She saw that at the site of the original wound, which had only formed a thin scab before, was now seventy to eighty percent healed. The pierced flesh had mended, and only a red scar remained on her belly, proving that this place had once suffered a knife wound.
“Wow! Lin Qianqian, your medicine is too effective!” Song Linlin turned her head and said to Chi Qianning in pleasant surprise.
Chi Qianning, however, was lying prone on the bed, her chin resting on her palms, quietly watching Song Linlin lift her clothes. When Song Linlin turned her head to speak to her, Chi Qianning took another couple of glances at the wound before saying, “It’s good that the wound could heal.”
“Let me apply medicine for you again. It’s for scar removal; otherwise, it wouldn’t look good to have such a mark on your body.”
Having already experienced having medicine applied once, Song Linlin didn’t feel awkward at all now. She nodded frankly, “Okay! Then thank you so much!”
“It was merely a matter of lifting a finger, besides, didn’t you help me too?” Chi Qianning said softly.
Chi Qianning also sat up. She moved closer to Song Linlin, then took out a new jar of medicinal ointment, and lowered her head, concentrating on applying the ointment for the other person.
Cool fingers touched soft skin. Song Linlin was chilled by Chi Qianning’s body temperature and instinctively flinched, sucking in her stomach and dodging the other’s fingers.
“Don’t move,” Chi Qianning said in a low voice.
She raised her eyes and met Song Linlin’s gaze for a moment. Song Linlin quickly nodded, indicating she wouldn’t dodge anymore. Only then did Chi Qianning shift her gaze back to the wound, reaching out to apply the ointment onto the red scar.
After carefully applying the ointment to the entire scar, Chi Qianning closed the lid of the ointment jar, wiped her fingers, and said, “Alright, the scar should fade in a few days.”
“Okay, thank you.”
Song Linlin nodded, released her fingers, and put her clothes back down. She didn’t really care that much if she would be left with a scar; she was already very lucky to have survived being stabbed by someone unknown.
Next, the two of them briefly washed up and walked out of the inn room together. Seeing that Chi Qianning wasn’t in a hurry to suggest looking for someone, Song Linlin took her to find a place to eat breakfast leisurely.
After finishing their meal, it was time to get down to business. Song Linlin, with a strong sense of justice, proposed to start searching for the person. This was entirely a lie Chi Qianning had concocted to get Song Linlin to leave the brothel1. When Song Linlin asked her for information about the person they were looking for, Chi Qianning could only make up a few random details. Naturally, the result was that the two of them busied themselves for an entire day without finding the fabricated person.
Two days passed in a flash. Night fell.
The two returned to the inn again. Song Linlin was so tired she lay down on the bed. Searching for someone was truly a physically demanding task, requiring constant inquiries everywhere. These past few days, her legs hadn’t stopped moving; she had practically run through the entire city.
“Here, drink some water.”
Chi Qianning had much better stamina than Song Linlin. At this moment, she even proactively poured a cup of tea for the other. Song Linlin laboriously sat up and took the teacup Chi Qianning handed her.
After downing the tea in the cup, Song Linlin saw Chi Qianning standing not far away with her back to her, doing something unknown.
“Lin Qianqian, what are you doing?” Song Linlin tilted her head to look at her.
Chi Qianning, holding a burning candle, stood in place. She unhurriedly lit a small item in front of her, then placed the candle back on the table and said lightly:
“Nothing, just lit some sleep-inducing incense, so I can sleep better at night.”
“Oh.” Song Linlin nodded, not doubting what the other said.
Chi Qianning closed the lid of the incense burner and then turned to walk towards the bed. She was calm and composed throughout the entire process. In reality, what Chi Qianning had lit was not some incense at all.
Ever since discovering that Song Linlin had amnesia, although Chi Qianning wasn’t in a hurry to proactively tell Song Linlin about their past memories, and even had the mind to feign a gentle persona.
But this didn’t mean she truly didn’t care. As soon as she knew Song Linlin had amnesia, Chi Qianning had planned to help the other person recover her memory. That incense stick had such an effect.
This item was directly transported from the extreme north; it was something specially refined by Yun Daozi. This old Daoist priest knew a bit about everything and was skilled in many things; amnesia, such a small matter, was naturally even more trivial for him.
Wisps of white smoke drifted out, and a fresh plant fragrance filled the room. Song Linlin didn’t dislike this scent; the fatigue in her mind was swept away.
“This incense smells quite nice. Did you buy it in the city during the day?” Song Linlin asked curiously. She hadn’t seen Chi Qianning take out incense in the previous days.
Chi Qianning nodded, “En, it’s good that you like it.”
Of course, just lighting the incense might not be enough. Yun Daozi had specially mentioned in the instructions that it was best to stimulate the amnesiac person, as this would help them recover more quickly.
Chi Qianning had already walked in front of Song Linlin by now. Song Linlin sat on the edge of the bed, looking up at Chi Qianning. Seeing the other person standing motionless in front of her, Song Linlin asked doubtfully, “Is something the matter?”
“Song Linlin…”
Chi Qianning spoke, her red eyes staring directly at Song Linlin. The other’s gaze made Song Linlin instinctively feel that something was not right. She silently scooted back a little, wanting to create some distance.
“En… what’s wrong?” Song Linlin’s heart beat slightly faster.
Her retreat, however, happened to give Chi Qianning space to advance. Chi Qianning knelt on the mattress, coming face to face with Song Linlin. This posture was very unstable; a slight misstep and one could fall off the bed. Song Linlin subconsciously reached out and placed her hand on Chi Qianning’s waist to prevent the other from falling.
The distance between the two was extremely close. Song Linlin’s free hand supported her from behind, her upper body leaning back, not daring to get so close to Chi Qianning.
“You, you…”
This scene was too stimulating. Song Linlin was momentarily unable to speak coherently, completely not expecting things to develop this way.
Song Linlin turned her head away, her face flushed red. “You… you should get down first, be careful not to fall.”
Chi Qianning reached out and turned Song Linlin’s face back, cupping Song Linlin’s burning cheeks, not taking the other’s warning to heart at all. Instead, she chuckled lightly and said, “If you hold me, I won’t fall.”
Cool fingers slid down from her sideburns, following the bone structure all the way to her chin. Song Linlin’s face was scorching hot; the cool sensation gliding across it was truly hard to ignore, making her shiver subconsciously.
Then, that cool touch shifted to her lips. Chi Qianning’s index finger tapped on Song Linlin’s lips, which truly startled Song Linlin.
Instantly, even Song Linlin’s earlobes turned completely red. The ambiguous atmosphere was self-evident. Song Linlin hadn’t forgotten that the other person had someone she liked; the sense of morality in her heart made her speak weakly, “I think we should maintain some distance…”
“No.” Chi Qianning refused Song Linlin’s words without any hesitation.
“We can’t do this, don’t you have someone you like?” Song Linlin tried to persuade the other.
Chi Qianning, however, smiled and said, “Yes, ah, but I’ve fallen for you too, what should I do?”
“Ah?”
Song Linlin was dumbfounded, beginning to suspect if she had misheard. “What did you say?”
“I said, I like you,” Chi Qianning repeated.
Song Linlin was utterly shocked, feeling as if she had become the third party. She took several seconds to process, but still hadn’t recovered, only managing to say, “Then… then you should get down first, let’s sit down and talk properly.”
Chi Qianning once again refreshed her impression of Song Linlin, not expecting that even in this situation, Song Linlin could remain unperturbed by seduction2.
Actually, it was just because her words contained too much information, and Song Linlin hadn’t processed it yet.
Now, Chi Qianning herself felt embarrassed. However, since things had already come this far, she couldn’t just give up halfway, ba. She had to brace herself, hooked her arms around Song Linlin’s neck, then closed her eyes and kissed her.
Their lips met. Song Linlin had never expected the other to kiss her directly. Caught off guard by the kiss, Song Linlin’s mind went completely blank; she just froze on the spot.
Chi Qianning was usually the one being kissed. She tried to kiss Song Linlin in the way Song Linlin used to, but her impromptu learning was rather ineffective.
At such a time, those who could continue to be reserved were probably saints. Song Linlin was certainly not this kind of person. Thus, Chi Qianning felt the hand on her waist tighten, and Song Linlin quickly seized the initiative.
Their bodies pressed together, the kiss deepened, lips were pried open, and the tongue that slipped inside plundered every inch of her mouth.
The kiss lasted for several minutes. It wasn’t until she was almost out of breath that Chi Qianning pushed Song Linlin’s shoulder. Song Linlin released Chi Qianning, and the lingering kiss came to an end.
Chi Qianning looked at Song Linlin, staring quietly for several seconds. She keenly noticed the change in the other’s eyes.
“Song Linlin, you remembered?”
Song Linlin couldn’t hide it from Chi Qianning, so she nodded, “En…”
She met Chi Qianning’s gaze, looking at the other’s face, reddened from her kiss. Just now, all of Song Linlin’s lost memories had returned.
Song Linlin knew that the person before her was the villain Hong Ye from the book. Faced with such a dangerous person, she should have felt scared, but looking at Chi Qianning, she couldn’t muster any feelings of dislike.
“How did you find your way to Yishui City?” Song Linlin suddenly became very curious.
She remembered being stabbed and then falling off a cliff. Song Linlin herself had thought she would definitely die this time, but unexpectedly, she was fated to survive even such a fall.
Putting herself in Chi Qianning’s shoes, Song Linlin wasn’t sure she could have found herself.
“I thought you were dead, so I went to find someone to resurrect you. Unexpectedly, I found out you were still alive, so naturally, I went to find you.”
The process involved was too complicated. Chi Qianning briefly explained it in a few sentences. Although she didn’t elaborate, Song Linlin could imagine it must not have been easy.
“From now on, let’s never be apart, okay?” Chi Qianning said cautiously. Clearly such a proud person, yet her tone now carried a hint of pleading.
Song Linlin solemnly kissed Chi Qianning’s forehead, “Okay.”
Then, their foreheads touched. Song Linlin recalled Chi Qianning’s behavior over the past few days, especially her bold actions just now. She couldn’t help but smile, staring into Chi Qianning’s eyes, “But, were you trying to seduce me just now?”
Chi Qianning’s slightly flushed face instantly turned completely red. She wasn’t a thick-skinned person to begin with, yet Song Linlin had to point it out. Thinking about her actions just now, Chi Qianning herself felt embarrassed.
Glaring at Song Linlin, Chi Qianning retorted, “Don’t talk nonsense, I only did that to help you recover your memory.”
“Ohh—” Song Linlin dragged out the sound.
Then Song Linlin tilted her head and smiled, “So, what you said about liking me just now was all fake? What to do, my love for you is real.”
Chi Qianning could see that this person just wanted to tease her, yet she was willing to take the bait. “No, that sentence was, of course, true.”
“I love you, Song Linlin.”
Song Linlin kissed Chi Qianning, “I love you too, Chi Qianning.”
In short, Song Linlin felt that in this lifetime, they would probably never be separated again.
