The Passerby Female Supporting Character – Chapter 2
by Little PandaFighting
Although she was clearly being looked down upon, Song Linlin couldn’t muster any anger, and instead felt it was quite reasonable.
Looking at her pale complexion, and combining it with the words she had overheard earlier, Song Linlin roughly guessed what situation she had encountered.
Those two middle-aged men were obviously not good people, their demonic energy was so heavy it had materialized, clearly intending to take advantage while their opponent was in poor condition.
This matched perfectly with the ways of demon cultivators.
“Those two must be at least at the Nascent Soul level or above, right? Even ten of me wouldn’t be enough to fill the gaps between their teeth…”
Song Linlin couldn’t think of any way to escape. At this moment, she somewhat regretted running away earlier – at least that mission boss hadn’t advanced to Nascent Soul yet, and some members of the female lead’s team had survived in the end.
As for these two demon cultivators before her, Song Linlin’s body couldn’t help but tremble just from facing their aura, having absolutely no desire to resist.
She had no doubt these two wouldn’t show her any mercy when they struck.
What should she do now?
Song Linlin’s gaze couldn’t help but drift toward the silver-haired woman not far away, who hadn’t shown much interest in her earlier.
If she won, would she spare her?
Looking at that somewhat frail figure, Song Linlin couldn’t offer any help, and could only silently pray that she would defeat those two demon cultivators.
Chi Qianning quietly watched the two brothers confronting her, her eyes filled with faint disdain. Her bloodless lips parted slightly, her voice cold like winter snow, carrying no warmth.
“Just two arrogant Integration realm insects [higher than Nascent Soul]…”
“I don’t even need to use weapons to deal with you.”
Her flat statement carried no fluctuation, as if she was calmly stating a fact, never considering their threats worthy of attention from start to finish.
Song Linlin listened with her mouth agape, tactically retreating a few steps, unable to hold back her inner complaints:
“Integration realm cultivators are being called insects! Then what am I at Foundation Establishment [second lowest]? A microorganism?”
Not only was Song Linlin shocked, but the two brothers opposite were equally stunned. The older man, upon hearing this, laughed instead of getting angry, his laughter carrying a teeth-grinding quality.
The next moment, he charged forward first, shouting harshly: “Normally we wouldn’t dare to target you, but now you’re nothing more than a spent arrow [ๅผทๅผฉไนๆซ | qiรกng nว zhฤซ mรฒ | idiom meaning at the end of one’s strength]! Second brother, attack together! Kill her!”
A powerful gust of force swept through, dense demonic energy exploding in an instant. Before Song Linlin could understand what was happening, she was blown away by their aura.
She flew straight backward with a “pa” sound into a grass pile taller than a person, getting a mouthful of grass debris, and her already once-injured body began hurting again.
Song Linlin felt dizzy and disoriented, with a buzzing ringing in her ears, seeing stars, her whole body feeling as if it had fallen apart.
Fortunately, she wasn’t blown directly into the stone wall, otherwise, this impact could have taken half her life.
“Why am I the unfortunate one when you’re the ones fighting…”
Song Linlin lay on the ground unable to move for a moment, and the severe ringing in her ears prevented her from hearing clearly what the outcome of the three people’s fight would be, only vaguely hearing the muffled sounds of their struggle.
Chi Qianning calmly watched the two people attacking her, her clothes hem fluttering in the wind, her unbound silver hair floating, her bright red eyes like those of a serpent, coldly and dangerously staring at her opponents.
Her brows were slightly furrowed. Although these two fellows were very detestable to her, normally Chi Qianning could definitely string these insects’ heads together with one sword strike like skewers, then pick them off to kick around like a ball.
But she had to admit they were right about one thing – Chi Qianning’s condition was very poor now, her strength far less than before, which was why she had chosen to find a nearby place for secluded cultivation [้้ | bรฌ guฤn | meditation in isolation] to recover and rest.
Unfortunately, these two fellows discovered her by accident. Demon cultivators were mostly madmen who would take risks for immediate benefits and fight to the death. Her poor condition had given these disgusting fellows the delusion they could take advantage of her.
But that was just a delusion. Although it would be troublesome and would cost her something, dealing with these two wouldn’t be a problem.
Coldly watching the two approaching closer and their imminent attack, Chi Qianning lightly raised her hand, her skin so white it seemed to glow under the moonlight. On her slender middle finger was wrapped an exquisite silver snake-shaped ring.
Following her movement, the previously dim snake eyes on the ring began to glow red, like a pair of rubies. Her seemingly delicate palm easily neutralized the fierce attack from the two demon cultivators.
In an instant, the two whose attack was interrupted suffered a backlash, spitting fresh blood, flying backward like kites with cut strings, dragging a long mark on the ground until their bodies finally stopped upon hitting the stone wall.
Spitting out shattered internal organs mixed with fresh blood, the older man clutched his chest, his voice hoarse, “Terrible, we were careless!”
He stared at Chi Qianning with venomous eyes, “Unexpected that even in your weakened state, you still possess such power… We brothers miscalculated…”
“I have no interest in hearing your last words.”
Her gaze remained icy, her red eyes compared to before were like burning blood-colored flames.
“Big brother! Stop wasting words with her!” Another venomous voice rang out, madness now absolutely dominant as he shouted, “Demon woman! Since we’re dead either way, let’s go to hell together!”
A flash of ruthlessness crossed his eyes, terrifying power fluctuations gradually spread out, and that big brother clearly understood what he meant, his eyes similarly filled with madness.
Chi Qianning immediately understood what these two were planning to do. Their plan had failed, and unable to defeat her, they were certainly facing death, so now they actually wanted to self-destruct their cultivation core, taking her down with them.
“Madmen.”
Chi Qianning cursed under her breath. The most annoying thing about fighting these demonic path practitioners was that these people probably had their brains eaten, always pulling these stunts of self-destructing their cultivation cores – if I can’t live, then you shouldn’t live either – such mad behavior.
In her current poor condition, taking such a hit would definitely injure her. She didn’t hesitate at all, instantly appearing before the two, gathering terrifying power, and striking out with her palm.
“Boom!”
A massive explosion erupted. Far away in the grass pile, Song Linlin only saw a flash of white light before her eyes, the enormous sound shocking her instantly awake.
She covered her ears, body curled up together, as gusts of wild wind swept past, uprooting grass taller than humans which danced in the air.
Song Linlin was forced to choke on another noseful of grass debris, but didn’t dare make a sound, only able to roar in her heart:
“Are those three trying to collapse this place?!”
“Fighting so intensely, if this place collapses, you three might be strong enough to survive being crushed, but I’ll end up buried alive.”
The sound gradually weakened, the white light disappeared, and the gloomy night once again claimed this place. Different from before, it seemed the dark clouds blocking the sky had vanished, the moon had emerged, spilling down gentle and cool radiance.
No more sounds came from the surroundings. Those weeds dancing in the sky fell back to the ground, and Song Linlin, almost buried by the weeds, huddled in the grass pile not daring to move carelessly.
The scene was completely silent.
Song Linlin hugged her head, unable to see the outside situation, but couldn’t resist her curiosity – who won in the end would determine whether she could survive tonight.
After waiting for several dozen breaths, there was still no sound from the surroundings. Song Linlin became puzzled:
Surely the three of them couldn’t have died together???
Could she perhaps escape now?
However, just as this thought crossed her mind, the sound of falling stones came from far away, along with a rustling movement.
Song Linlin tried her best to slow her breathing and pretend to be a corpse, praying the other party wouldn’t notice her, silently chanting in her heart:
“You can’t see me, you can’t see me, you can’t see me…”
However, things went against her wishes.
“Person over there, come here.” The female voice came from afar, slightly trembling, carrying the sound of post-battle panting.
Song Linlin’s heart raced, wishing she could bury her face in the ground and continue lying there playing ostrich.
The other party was clearly becoming impatient: “Stop playing dead.”
There was no choice now. Song Linlin pushed away the weeds covering her body and shakily stood up. She wasn’t sure whether a third time of continuing to lie there would result in another urging or an attack coming her way.
When Song Linlin clearly saw the surrounding situation, she was even more shocked. Originally, this had been a fairly open area, and although overgrown with weeds, it could barely be called flourishing with life.
But now, one stone wall had collapsed, broken stones rolling down, and with that area as the center point, all plants within a certain range had disappeared, and even the ground had been blasted into a large crater.
It could truly be called a complete mess.
And that red-clothed woman was leaning against a stone wall, her gaze fixed directly on her.
Song Linlin didn’t dare to be negligent. Though her body still ached all over, she still forced herself to walk immediately towards her. Getting closer, she finally saw clearly that the woman’s condition wasn’t good either.
Her complexion was undoubtedly even paler now, her originally clean red dress was stained with dust, the edges of her sleeves showed signs of damage, silver hair falling across her chest. She was breathing slightly heavily, her red eyes narrowed, looking Song Linlin up and down.
This made Song Linlin unable to help but shiver, having a dangerous premonition of being targeted by a cold-blooded animal and about to be eaten.
“You… do you have any instructions?” Song Linlin’s voice trembled slightly, showing her nervous state.
The other party didn’t answer immediately, looking a few more times before withdrawing that dangerous gaze, which made Song Linlin instantly feel much more relieved.
Chi Qianning spoke flatly: “Go there, dig out all the good things left by those two dead people.”
“Yes, yes, yes!”
Song Linlin agreed immediately – after defeating villains, of course one had to loot the corpses and collect the spoils of war. As long as the other party wasn’t thinking about killing her for now, it was fine.
She jogged towards that large crater in the ground. It looked like the bodies of those two people were here. Sure enough, as soon as she got close, she could see two twisted male corpses lying at the bottom of the pit.
They died so horribly…
Song Linlin walked to the bottom of the pit. The men who had been so high and mighty just a moment ago, arrogantly saying they would kill her, now lay twisted before her. Both their dantian [ไธน็ฐ | dฤn tiรกn | energy center in the body] areas were completely empty, with large bloody holes there.
“Holy…”
Song Linlin had never seen such a bloody scene before, and for a moment truly didn’t know where to start. She fearfully turned her head to look at Chi Qianning, only to see the other party staring at her.
It was just like being supervised.
With no choice, Song Linlin turned her gaze back, spitting out words quietly to the two people on the ground: “You committed countless evil deeds, you deserved to die, this can’t be blamed on me!”
Crouching down to take the pouches tied at both men’s waists, Song Linlin opened them to look inside. These contained quite a few things, with some small bottles that seemed to contain medicinal pills [ไธน่ฅ | dฤn yร o | cultivation pills] – this should be what she was supposed to find.
Remembering seeing actors in TV dramas hiding things in their chest clothing to prevent missing anything, Song Linlin also searched both men’s chests, and indeed found some small items.
She stood up, preparing to return, but Chi Qianning spoke from afar: “Pick up the sword at your feet.”
Song Linlin obediently did as told. This sword appeared to be of good quality, so salvaging it was quite necessary. She picked up the frost-gleaming long sword.
The person in the distance continued instructing: “Good, now behead those two people and string them together.”
“Huh???”
Song Linlin held the sword, looking at the other party with a surprised face, wanting to say:
You think these are quail eggs? You can just string them together as you please?
She strongly suspected the other party was doing this just to vent anger.
