The Passerby Female Supporting Character – Chapter 12
by Little PandaThree parts disbelief, four parts terror, two parts despair
Although she wanted to argue back, she held herself back. Chi Qianning was indeed far more powerful than herself – this was a fact. Her own spiritual energy was truly insufficient and wouldn’t catch the other’s eye.
Most crucially, she felt that if she spoke up, the other would definitely push her away.
Better to endure for now and keep the peace, Song Linlin really had no energy to argue.
It was rare for a human and snake to coexist so peacefully and intimately, and Song Linlin had finally figured out some aspects of the other’s personality.
This woman’s temperament was truly mercurial – for instance, when she first brought her back to the inn, she was ice-cold, but after drinking her blood once, she would become much more cheerful, even seeming somewhat high?
Just like now, she was actually gently stroking her hair!
This was too strange – usually when she approached, she would only get an eye-roll or direct anger.
After biting her last time, she had been in a good mood and talked quite a lot. This proved that after consuming Song Linlin’s spiritual energy, Chi Qianning would temporarily become more approachable.
Song Linlin decided to take advantage of her good mood to chat more. After pondering for two seconds, she asked, “Why did you suddenly bite me today?”
“You smell delicious,” Chi Qianning said while stroking the person on top of her, “You probably can’t smell it, but to those yin evil creatures, your flesh and blood are overwhelmingly enticing.”
Does this mean I would be in danger if I encountered those yin evil creatures?
The other side might think about eating me…
Looking at it this way, Chi Qianning isn’t so bad? She hasn’t directly devoured me.
Song Linlin’s spiritual energy was almost depleted now, and tonight she would definitely need to follow Ye Tingran to advance the main storyline, though taking one recovery pill would surely replenish her spiritual energy by nightfall.
But yesterday, when confronting that fellow Mu Tong, she had almost been cut down. This time, facing someone new, what if they were really powerful…
Looking at Chi Qianning, Song Linlin felt she couldn’t let her just consume her spiritual energy without doing any work, so she tentatively asked, “I need to go out tonight, want to come along?”
“Oh?” Chi Qianning immediately saw through Song Linlin’s thoughts and mercilessly exposed them, teasing, “Got scared after being beaten yesterday, so today you’re looking for someone powerful to protect you?”
Song Linlin’s face reddened – couldn’t she be more tactful? Why did she have to say it so directly!
Yet Chi Qianning just laughed carelessly.
“How can you say that?” Although Song Linlin was so embarrassed she wanted to find a crack to crawl into, she still forced herself to defend, “I just see you staying in the room all day, it must be boring, you should get some fresh air!”
“If you don’t want to, that’s fine, I’ll go by myself,” Song Linlin added, to avoid awkwardness in case the other refused.
“Is that so? Well, I’ll have to think about it carefully.”
Chi Qianning didn’t give a definitive answer, just responding ambiguously, though Song Linlin caught some other meaning.
This one wants me to beg her to go, doesn’t she?
What an ill-mannered snake, she’s not even considering that I let her feed on me for free.
Song Linlin decided to stop cuddling with her for now, and wiggled her fingers wanting to get up, but she really had no strength, and with the other’s hand still pressing down on her, she couldn’t move at all.
She decided to let Chi Qianning push her away instead.
“You know? The way we are right now would look very strange to others.”
Song Linlin spoke, implying of course that she wanted to be released and pushed aside.
Chi Qianning listened but didn’t move, only saying flatly, “What others think has nothing to do with me.”
How foolish – this one isn’t even human, of course she doesn’t care what others think…
Wait a minute, Song Linlin suddenly thought from a different angle, realizing she wasn’t at a disadvantage – with such a beautiful face, wasn’t she actually taking advantage by lying on top of her?
Thinking this, Song Linlin turned her head, openly staring at Chi Qianning for several seconds, then said, “If you’re not embarrassed, let’s stay like this then, I’ve got thick skin anyway.”
However, just as she finished speaking, there came a knock at the door.
“Shimei, are you awake? May I come in?” Ye Tingran’s voice came from outside.
Hearing this voice, Song Linlin instinctively struggled to get up, but Chi Qianning’s embrace prevented her from moving at all.
“What are you doing?! Someone’s here!” Song Linlin’s eyes widened as she whispered accusingly.
“Weren’t you saying you had thick skin?”
Chi Qianning gave a light laugh, saying gleefully, “Since you want to seek thrills, let’s go all the way.”
With that, as Song Linlin watched with three parts disbelief, four parts terror, and two parts despair in her eyes, she called out loudly toward the door: “Come in!”
The author has something to say:
Alright, today’s update is complete, please comment!
I don’t know if it’s because I got too excited while writing, but does Chi’s character seem OOC? I write whatever comes to mind each day, and it’s easy to write more and more, then some strange plots appear… Of course, people’s personalities can change, but if I insist she’s not OOC, then she probably isn’t OOC.
Chi don’t want her to go haha she’s pleased
OOC stands for out of character
hahah! that backfired quickly
