With Eyes, With Lips and Teeth

Hearing the voice, Pei Xuezhi turned her head, her dark eyes looking over.

    That person did too.

    However.

Fu Chaoyun lifted her foot and, before the other could react, took the initiative to walk towards them.

【? Isn’t this supposed to be your villain arc1?】

The System was exasperated, disappointed she wasn’t living up to expectations2, 【At least put on an act… Do you really have that little backbone!!】

    Ignoring the System’s roaring.

Seeing Fu Chaoyun approach, Pei Xuezhi stood still.

Instead, Nao Nao, who was being held in her arms, suddenly looked up at that person, then at Fu Chaoyun, seemingly falling into some kind of confusion, before finally jumping down from Pei Xuezhi’s embrace and running towards Fu Chaoyun as well.

Fu Chaoyun reached out and scooped her up, arriving before Pei Xuezhi with both person and cat.

    “Finished chatting?” Pei Xuezhi asked.

“Mhm,” Fu Chaoyun responded lazily, petting the cat, then seemingly casually glanced at the person beside them. “And this is?”

“Staff from Teacher An’s side. Nao Nao was resting in their car just now, she just brought the cat down for me.”

The lead actress of this movie had the surname “An”.

Following Pei Xuezhi’s explanation, the girl introduced herself, “I’m Teacher An’s assistant, my name is Mi Shan3. Teacher Pei and Director Fu can just call me Xiao Mi4.”

    Fu Chaoyun replied politely, “Hello.”

Xiao Mi, however, was lively and cheerful. “Back then, I watched every single episode of 《Heartbeat》! Especially the scenes with both you teachers together, they were really beautiful, I loved them!”

Halfway through speaking, she noticed Nao Nao’s perfectly round cat eyes looking at her and smiled. Xiao Mi bent down to meet the cat’s gaze.

“I heard her name is Nao Nao, right? She’s very cute. I quite like small animals too, so when I saw she didn’t reject me, I just picked her up for a moment… Sorry.”

“It’s fine,” Fu Chaoyun said again.

Previously, she had only been watching from afar. Now, closer, she noticed this Mi Shan had a face no less attractive than the “Teacher An” she served. Generally speaking, celebrities wouldn’t keep such beautiful assistants around.

    Moreover, this was an Omega.

Right now, Mi Shan was meeting Nao Nao’s gaze, and the eyes of this person and this cat were surprisingly similar…

Pei Xuezhi also stroked Nao Nao’s head, saying, “Nao Nao usually isn’t very close with strangers.”

Mi Shan’s eyes widened in feigned surprise.

“She likes you very much,” Fu Chaoyun added.

“Really? Thank you—” Mi Shan seemed overjoyed, bending down again to smile beautifully at the little cat. “Thank you for liking me too.”

Nao Nao’s round cat eyes watched her.

“Right,” Fu Chaoyun mentioned, as if casually. “If you followed 《Heartbeat》, are you a Chaoyun Muxue CP fan?”

Mi Shan froze for a moment, seemingly too excited, pausing before replying, “Yes, I am.”

    “Need an autograph?”

    “May I?!”

Fu Chaoyun nodded. Pei Xuezhi beside her didn’t speak, which meant tacit approval.

Mi Shan quickly found paper and pen, handing it first to Pei Xuezhi. She seemed overly excited, her cheeks flushed crimson, almost fainting from happiness. Once Pei Xuezhi finished signing, she passed it to Fu Chaoyun.

    “Let me hold her.”

She was referring to Nao Nao.

Nao Nao was a somewhat lazy cat. Perhaps because she had wandered for too long, now that she finally had a home and a den, life was good, and she didn’t much like walking, preferring to be held—of course, only by people she recognized as familiar and close.

Fu Chaoyun, however, loosened her grip, and Nao Nao landed on the ground. She took the paper and pen without looking up, just smiling lightly.

“Forget it, don’t spoil her too much. Holding a furball on a hot summer day, isn’t it hot!”

Three characters written like dragons flying and phoenixes dancing5 landed on the paper. Fu Chaoyun was used to signing her name, but this time, those three characters seemed to have a sharp edge to their curves, the force almost piercing the paper.

    Pei Xuezhi caught a glimpse.

Mi Shan, having received both signatures, left contentedly. This area was, after all, considered the lead actress Teacher An’s resting place. The two walked off to the side, Nao Nao following beside them on her four paws.

Soon, a crew manager came over to tell Pei Xuezhi she wasn’t needed for filming today; she could rest at home for the next few days and wait for notification.

“Going home,” Fu Chaoyun said lazily. “It’s nice not having to be out in the sun.”

    Once the crew manager left.

Pei Xuezhi opened the nearby umbrella and handed it to her. “You wait here first, don’t move.”

    “Got it~”

Fu Chaoyun even waved her hand dismissively.

On set, although Pei Xuezhi was just a minor supporting role, rules still had to be followed. She first bid farewell to the director’s side before returning.

The Alpha asked languidly, “Can we go now?”

“Mhm.” Pei Xuezhi walked shoulder-to-shoulder with her towards the parking area, asking along the way, “What did you do?”

“Pointed out some loopholes in the script… does that count?”

Pei Xuezhi knew then that she had meddled with the script.

She wasn’t so purely untouched by worldliness as to condemn Fu Chaoyun for doing wrong. She paused, “After the changes, will my part increase?”

“Added a little bit,” Fu Chaoyun said. “At least Zhizhi won’t have to forcefully act out looks of adoration.”

    “What was it changed to?”

Fu Chaoyun smiled, her amber eyes overflowing with radiant light as she glanced over. “I made the male lead adore you, how about that?”

    Pei Xuezhi: “…”

“He’s a Best Actor winner anyway, his salary for this film is in the tens of millions, who knows how many times higher than Zhizhi’s. Just adding some longing looks shouldn’t be a problem, right.”

    “…”

    A moment later.

Pei Xuezhi said, “Thank you.” She paused, leaned closer, her voice dropping lower. “Did Jiejie specifically change the script for me?”

“I’m not that kind of person!” Fu Chaoyun said with utmost seriousness. “I did it to make the movie better, for box office success…”

    【Tch!】

Even the System didn’t believe that line.

Just then, the two arrived at Fu Chaoyun’s car. This was an underground parking garage, shielded from direct sunlight, so the car’s interior wasn’t too hot yet, plus Fu Chaoyun had started it remotely.

As the car door opened, a wave of coolness emanated.

Pei Xuezhi was about to get in when suddenly a force collided, and the car door was slammed shut again heavily. Immediately after, a body radiating heat pressed down, and she was pinned against the car door by Fu Chaoyun.

First hands, then body, then lips…

    This spot was relatively secluded.

Thus, in a corner unknown to anyone, the Alpha possessively gripped the Omega’s slender waist, pinning her firmly against the car door, wantonly gathering and capturing with eyes, with lips and tongue…

Those previous unpleasant emotions that had been suppressed finally rose and rebounded in this moment, revealed and thoroughly vented when only the two of them were present!

    Rapid breaths, moist sounds.

During occasional gaps for breath, Pei Xuezhi felt the other’s fingertips brush past the corners of her eyes, surprisingly carrying a heat almost identical to that of the lips and tongue.

“You can’t, okay? Zhizhi can only look at me with that kind of gaze…”

She felt slightly dazed, because this possessive side of Fu Chaoyun was extremely rare. Immediately after, due to her lack of focus, she received a bite on her lip.

    Like a little puppy.

That person kissed her again, lingering and tender, accompanied by soft, coquettish hums. “Why should anyone else get the treatment I haven’t even enjoyed!”

Pei Xuezhi thought, perhaps they had.

In the visions she had seen, that “her” had once looked at that person with such eyes, adoring and profound…

    And then.

    She was bitten again.

    Gently.

Followed by a softer moment as that person lapped at it, soothingly… like a little kitten seeking attention, causing trouble then acting cute.

Truly having the two-legged creature completely wrapped around her finger6.

    No.

This was just a big cat, even better at acting cute than Nao Nao.

But right now, just as she could detect Fu Chaoyun’s lack of focus, Fu Chaoyun could now similarly detect her distraction.

Could this be considered another kind of role reversal?

    Forget it.

The other person cared. This was also the outcome Pei Xuezhi had once sought.

In a corner of the scorching summer parking lot, the once unattainable flower on a high peak7 was now submerged in an ocean of passion. As wave after wave crashed over her, she clung to the reef before her, enduring assault after assault, until she too became adrift, rising and falling.

    Willingly, unable to extricate herself.

The two finally settled back into the car, Nao Nao sitting in the back seat.

    “Is Zhizhi uncomfortable anywhere?”

    Fu Chaoyun asked.

Pei Xuezhi, sitting beside her, shot her a quick sideways glance. Having just kissed intensely, her lips were red, her dark eyes glistening. A single sweep of her eyes could hook a person’s soul.

“What about Jiejie then?” the Omega countered. “Is Jiejie uncomfortable anywhere?”

She looked like this, but was the Alpha beside her any different? Those naturally loose curls had been tousled by Pei Xuezhi’s grasping hands, appearing even more suggestive.

Fu Chaoyun paused for a second.

    “Meow~”

Nao Nao’s sound came from behind, as if suddenly snapping her back to reality. Fu Chaoyun covered her forehead.

    “Zhizhi, you’re so dirty-minded~!”8

Pei Xuezhi, being falsely accused9: “…”

“Not that, I meant today on set, did you feel anything was wrong? Also, the final exams from before, are the results out?”

“No.” Pei Xuezhi realized. “Barring any accidents, I should be first.”

When saying “first,” there wasn’t a trace of arrogance in Pei Xuezhi’s tone, as if it were simply a matter of course.

    “Is that so…”

    “Why bring this up?”

Fu Chaoyun thought for a moment, speaking while driving, “I just realized that ever since getting together with Zhizhi, things have been going exceptionally smoothly. I was wondering if I’ve been leeching off Zhizhi’s fortune, and whether Zhizhi might be negatively affected?”

    【Ahhhhhh!】

The System was freaking out again, its daily freak-out.

【How could you tell Pei Xuezhi something like that?! Besides, that was originally… If you absorbed the fortune, you absorbed it, why do you care about her!!】

However, the System’s clamoring was once again ignored by Fu Chaoyun. And Pei Xuezhi was unaware of its existence. Her gaze turned profoundly towards Fu Chaoyun, making the latter’s heart sink.

Could there really be an impact?

Then what was the System’s purpose in doing this?

    Fu Chaoyun’s mind raced.

It seemed to constantly warn her that Pei Xuezhi was the Daughter of Heaven’s Mandate and she couldn’t covet her, yet even now that Fu Chaoyun was absorbing her fortune, the System hadn’t stopped it.

    This was clearly illogical.

Combined with its previous supposed “being good to Pei Xuezhi,” where the tasks issued were trivial matters like accompanying her on a variety show or helping pick vegetables, and its tone when warning her not to develop feelings—more like looking down on her, almost seeming to deliberately incite hatred against Pei Xuezhi on her behalf.

    Then…

    The next second.

Pei Xuezhi’s hand rested on Fu Chaoyun’s forehead. The earlier frenzy had subsided; it felt a bit warm, but it was a normal body temperature.

Pei Xuezhi let out a breath.

The rapidly spinning thoughts jammed for a moment.

    Fu Chaoyun: ?

Pei Xuezhi’s gaze was profound. “Don’t be superstitious.”

    Fu Chaoyun: “…………”
