She and Her · Side CP

Zhao Yujun x Lu Ningyan ①

A reunion after six years, three months, and twenty-seven days. 【BE Warning】

    “An old flame?”

    “Heh, pure trouble.”

Just after Zhao Yujun1 had delivered this “great insight” to her friend, she walked out the door and once again saw Lu Ningyan2.

    That’s right.

It had been almost a month since Lu Ningyan returned to the country. The last time she saw her was twenty-three days ago.

Just as she had told others, a lover from the past was immense trouble, and even more so, an inner demon3.

Lu Ningyan was her old flame, and also her first love.

Ever since the other party had left without a word, she had been jolted awake on countless nights by dreams of her silhouette. It was a haunting of another kind. As the years passed and time was about to erase everything, that person had suddenly reappeared before her—

Reminding her once more of all that was about to be forgotten.

    A lingering ghost4!

    A lingering ghost!

Zhao Yujun thought it, longed for it, resented it, and hated it. Yet, as long as this person appeared before her eyes, she couldn’t help but want to chase after her, her heart completely lost to her.

It wasn’t just that memories of the past were engulfing her like a torrential flood; it was more about giving some form of closure to the id#otic self from the past, the one who had held on through all those days and nights, only to wake up suddenly with a sense of loss.

    There was no escaping it.

Thus, she followed her once again, even though the other party had said such harsh things during their last meeting, practically throwing all her face and dignity to the ground to be trampled upon…

They were both adults now, not at an age for playing house and bickering. They could still maintain a degree of decorum.

    “Talk?”

Zhao Yujun blocked her way. Lu Ningyan looked up, her voice carrying a hint of coolness.

    “Where?”

Without explaining, Zhao Yujun tilted her head slightly. “Follow me.”

The friend who had come out to have fun with her had already tactfully departed. Lu Ningyan, however, still had several people with her.

Perhaps because the Alpha’s current demeanor looked quite formidable, those people had wary eyes, faintly forming a protective stance around Lu Ningyan, creating a standoff.

Zhao Yujun was all by herself.

“It’s a former classmate, someone I know,” Lu Ningyan explained, and the tense atmosphere eased for a moment.

    Zhao Yujun wanted to sneer.

    Just a classmate?

    What an act.

Thinking this, she did indeed let out a mocking laugh, not giving a shred of face. The expressions of those few people turned sour again, but Lu Ningyan spoke first:

    “Let’s go.”

    Talk?

    How did they talk?

    It no longer mattered.

As night gave way to day, clothes were seen scattered on both sides of the large hotel bed.

    White frost dyed red plums5.

    “My gland…”

    “I don’t care.”

Although Lu Ningyan was an Omega, an issue had occurred during her differentiation, causing her gland to fail in its development. She was unable to release pheromones.

It was currently incurable, meaning that in her future unions with an Alpha, she would never be able to experience the ultimate A/O sensation.

In this room, right now, there was only Zhao Yujun’s Alpha pheromone.

    But—

    What did that matter?

“What I want is you, never the pheromones.”

The Alpha spoke with conviction, reassuringly. As she spoke, her kiss landed once more, the initial sharp edge of their confrontation long replaced by the lingering entanglement that followed their union.

She spoke between kisses, her voice becoming muffled. “Who wouldn’t want a living, breathing person, and fall in love with some messy scent instead?”

Lu Ningyan, who had been ensnared in the ambiguity woven by the other, yet was still somewhat anxious, had been trying to listen to what she was saying. Now, she was suddenly coaxed into laughter.

All her emotions seemed to be soothed, and the Omega let out a great sigh of relief.

    Then, the entanglement continued…

Through a gap in the curtains of the floor-to-ceiling window, a sliver of early spring light crept in. It wasn’t warm, but for the long darkness, it was absolutely dazzling and bright.

The Alpha continuously traced patterns on this beautiful body, her voice slightly hoarse when she spoke.

It was unclear if it was due to the aftermath, or uncertainty.

“Does this count as making up?”

Lu Ningyan looked up at the Alpha on top of her.

As an Omega, Lu Ningyan was naturally stunning. She had countless suitors both before and after she came of age. At this moment, her somewhat cool eyes were tinged with the flush of passion, revealing a hint of the youthful charm that Zhao Yujun was familiar with from their younger days.

Her gaze was locked squarely on the Alpha. A moment later, she propped up her somewhat weary body and kissed the Alpha’s jaw.

    “We never broke up.”

That one sentence stirred up the past, and it dawned on Zhao Yujun—

    That’s right.

Back then, Lu Ningyan had suddenly gone abroad, and they were separated by a great distance. But they had never actually said the words “break up.”

So, in a sense, they had always been together and had never been apart.

The Alpha’s eyes deepened, seemingly recalling the events of last night. Then she lowered her head and deepened the provocative kiss the Omega had actively offered.

    “Indeed.”

Last night, the old trick was played again.

The dawn was about to break, tearing through the final darkness before sunrise.

The dim light of the sky would eventually be replaced by the warmth of the morning glow.

—After a separation of six years, three months, and twenty-seven days, Zhao Yujun and Lu Ningyan were together again.

The author has something to say:

I forgot to mention in the last chapter, Xiao Zhao’s story here is a BE!

    BE BE BE!

No deaths, no car accidents, no amnesia, no Autumn in My Heart6 tropes. They just simply don’t end up together. It’s more of a wistful, ‘what might have been’ type of ending. If you can’t accept that, then please stop here. Do not cross this line (hey!)

    PS: Merry Christmas, everyone~!
