“—I’ll trade. Let me take her place.”

Pei Xuezhi didn’t know what was happening outside.

    She figured.

    It probably wasn’t too good.

What Chi Guisi called “wanting her to witness Fu Chaoyun’s failure with her own eyes” clearly only referred to the final scene of “failure.”

The process in between was disregarded.

    It wasn’t time yet.

So now she was placed alone. Considering the special nature of the ABO world, that Alpha clearly wouldn’t allow the same “accident” to happen to herself, so numerous Betas were responsible for guarding and protecting her.

Although she was blindfolded, Pei Xuezhi immediately determined from her other sharp senses that she was still waiting in that hotel.

Why hadn’t she been moved elsewhere?

Was the other party really that confident and certain, or perhaps…

A guess quickly flashed through Pei Xuezhi’s mind, and she just as quickly dismissed it.

She naturally couldn’t be tied down here, waiting for death and just anticipating the final outcome. She had also made arrangements. With the telepathic connection1 she shared with Fu Chaoyun, Fu Chaoyun should also understand her plan.

But even so, Pei Xuezhi still couldn’t completely relax.

She had to go there herself.

So, while the two Alphas were fighting, Pei Xuezhi also managed to get rid of the bodyguards who were “protecting” her.

She had employed certain methods and paid a price in the process. Of course, she also had Chi Guisi’s lack of defense against her to thank for this.

Behind her were fallen Betas. She suddenly pulled open the locked door. Light flooded in for an instant, only to be replaced by encroaching darkness in the next moment.

Pei Xuezhi instinctively reached out, but her stamina had been depleted in the recent fight. A moment of carelessness, and her hand was caught by the Alpha in front of her.

A wave of psychological discomfort washed over her instantly.

It was that person… Chi Guisi.

Her current state was slightly worse than when she had been waiting with ease at the beginning. But after all, in the struggle between two Alphas, they were both responsible for giving orders, and it was their subordinates who did the actual fighting.

So, Chi Guisi’s poor condition was psychological. Even though her expression was a bit unsightly, an Alpha’s physical constitution was still far superior to Pei Xuezhi’s at this moment.

Seeing her like this, Pei Xuezhi felt no sympathy at all. Instead, she breathed a small sigh of relief.

    Fu Chaoyun probably hadn’t suffered a loss…

Immediately, a greater sense of tension surged up.

“You’ve lost,” Pei Xuezhi said calmly.

She was stating an established fact, trying to distract the other party and find a way to escape her.

Just out of the wolf’s den, and now into the tiger’s lair.2

Staying with a psycho like Chi Guisi was far more dangerous than being with those Beta bodyguards who only followed orders. This one could go crazy at any moment.

    Especially.

The look in her eyes as she gazed at Pei Xuezhi held a darkness—deep, complex… even to the point where Pei Xuezhi couldn’t see it clearly, let alone understand it.

    At least.

—She couldn’t become the other’s final bargaining chip, the one that could threaten Fu Chaoyun.

Chi Guisi didn’t reply. She let Pei Xuezhi provoke her, her face showing no sign of shame, indignation, or anger. Her ice-blue eyes were slightly lowered as she quietly looked down at Pei Xuezhi.

That deep gaze roamed and lingered on the Omega’s face.

The volatile and explosive Chi Guisi had visible weaknesses, openings to exploit. Although it could be a double-edged sword, if handled well, it wasn’t impossible to deal with her. But if she calmed down…

That kind of demeanor was what truly made one uneasy.

Before Pei Xuezhi could think of more words to divert her attention, more urgent footsteps approached from a distance.

“If you take me and run now, you might still make it,” Pei Xuezhi said, lowering her head slightly to hide her expression.

It wasn’t that she didn’t believe.

It was just that she didn’t want to bear the consequences of even a one-in-ten-thousand chance of error.

In contrast to Pei Xuezhi’s avoidance, Chi Guisi’s gaze was focused and almost steadfastly fixed on Pei Xuezhi.

    Staring at her.

After a moment, she chuckled softly.

It sounded like a pleasant, lighthearted tone of voice.

“Trying to distract me at a time like this, then find a chance to struggle free and run off to live happily ever after3 with your ‘Fu Chaoyun’?”

The Alpha’s gaze rested deeply on the Omega’s face, giving off a chilling sensation, as if her eyes were already caressing every inch of the other person.

“Xuezhi, your plan is very good.”

    Unfortunately.

    It’s useless.

The footsteps nearby were getting closer, the situation urgent. Facing a Chi Guisi whose intelligence had suddenly come online and who was no longer so easily fooled, Pei Xuezhi finally stopped waiting and directly launched an attack on Chi Guisi.

Her movements were swift and fierce. Her strike aimed directly at the other’s head. Pain in other parts of the body might be temporarily endured, but this part alone was precise and fragile. If she succeeded, it would buy her enough time.

Then she could turn and run in the other direction…

Pei Xuezhi had planned it very well, but she still overestimated her nearly depleted stamina after a fight, from which she hadn’t recovered much, and underestimated Chi Guisi as an Alpha.

Especially since the latter was no longer soft on her, no longer completely unguarded.

The Omega’s hands were gripped by the Alpha, her body pressed down, simultaneously blocking all of the Omega’s possible attacks.

Due to the differences in physique between Eastern and Western people, and with much of it obscured, it looked as if the Omega was completely unable to resist.

Her gaze shifted slightly to the side.

The Omega’s long hair and even her clothes were slightly disheveled from the recent struggle. A light flush, whether from exertion or anger, appeared on her fair cheeks. Her usually rational and cool dark eyes now glinted with furious fire.

Like a rose blooming in the darkness.

Right now, all of this fell into Chi Guisi’s eyes. Perhaps she should be jealous, perhaps angry. In a sense, at this very moment, this rose was indeed blooming for her!

    …Wasn’t it?

    In the twilight.

Many things seemed to be tinged with an indescribable, alluring charm.

Although their eyes were different, there was indeed a moment when the Alpha in front of her seemed somewhat like “Fu Chaoyun.”

The tangled threads of thought couldn’t be sorted out.

It was actually the Alpha who reacted first from this strangeness. She shifted her body slightly, revealing the surroundings, and so, this scene also fell into the eyes of Fu Chaoyun, who was just arriving.

Pei Xuezhi was half-forced to look over. Her dark eyes were deep, but inwardly she felt an indescribable nervousness.

Unsure if it was for her, or for her

    It was simply too ambiguous!

Even the faces of the other personnel who came with Fu Chaoyun showed a fleeting, unusual expression, which was then quickly replaced by professionalism.

But when Fu Chaoyun looked over, her gaze was as calm as ever. It swept past Chi Guisi’s face, and only when she saw Pei Xuezhi did a hint of reassurance appear.

    As steady as her voice.

    “Let her go.”

Such a serious Fu Chaoyun was extremely rare.

Chi Guisi maintained her previous posture, unmoving.

    “Where are my people?”

    “Taken care of.”

    Taken care of.

    Not killed.

They’ve been subdued, temporarily unable to act.

    Chi Guisi tsked. “So useless.”

Her demeanor was too calm, so calm it was like a mirror image of “Fu Chaoyun,” almost eerie.

But soon, she seemed to realize that this emotion was wrong. When facing Fu Chaoyun’s body, madness once again appeared on her face.

    “Want to save Pei Xuezhi?”

Perhaps truly mad, the Alpha’s grip on Pei Xuezhi was constantly tightening. Even Pei Xuezhi found it unbearable and coughed. Fu Chaoyun, even more so, couldn’t maintain her calm facade and frowned.

    “Let go.”

“Hahahahaha—” The isolated and helpless Chi Guisi actually burst into wild laughter. The dim, dark light of the corridor enveloped her face, revealing a somewhat gloomy and ferocious expression, a sign of an all-or-nothing gamble.

“If you want to save her, trade yourself for her.”

    Pei Xuezhi was naturally unwilling.

Her body was extremely uncomfortable, but she observed carefully and had been lying in wait for an opportunity. Finally seizing a moment when the other person was distracted, she fought back, trying to escape from Chi Guisi’s grasp.

Not far away, Fu Chaoyun was also ready to receive her.

Unexpectedly, Chi Guisi’s actions were a step faster. It was her final, desperate struggle; she naturally went all-in, showing no mercy even towards Pei Xuezhi.

“I knew you would do that…” Her azure eyes had turned deep, filled with a thick intensity when looking at others. “After all, my Xuezhi is smart, forbearing… and knows best how to control my thoughts. How could you not have thought of it? How could you not…”

Pei Xuezhi was suddenly grabbed by the neck by the fiercely erupting Alpha, coughing unbearably.

Chi Guisi’s face showed “emotion,” and also madness.

“You protect her so much, completely unwilling to put her in danger. But how does she treat you!”

    “Forget it.”

“In that case, what if I kill you myself… okay?”

That hand covered Pei Xuezhi’s neck. An Alpha’s body temperature should be strong, warm.

At this moment, those hands were indeed strong, but they brought Pei Xuezhi endless pressure and coldness.

The azure pupils looking at her actually began to gradually lose focus.

It was also complete paranoia, madness.

“If I kill you… we can be together forever and ever. Whether you like me a little or completely detest me, we will be together, forever…”

“Look, Fu Chaoyun is so useless. Isn’t it just perfect to kill you in front of her? It must be very exciting, right?”

A pleased smile appeared on the Alpha’s face, gentle and doting, yet the force of her grip didn’t lessen in the slightest.

From the beginning of the incident until now, Fu Chaoyun had forced herself to maintain decisive rationality, hoping to resolve the problem in the least harmful way, rather than letting it develop in a worse direction.

    The moment she received the news;

    The moment she laid out the plan;

    The moment she stepped into this hotel;

    The moment she confronted Chi Guisi;

The moment she saw Pei Xuezhi again was also the same…

    Until this moment.

She could no longer bear it. Overwhelming anger erupted completely from her chest.

Fu Chaoyun still maintained her rationality, but at this moment, she used the last tiny bit of remaining reason to control herself and give the final command to her subordinates.

At the same time, she herself also stepped forward, intending to rescue Pei Xuezhi personally.

    “Heh heh.”

    Chi Guisi chuckled lightly.

    Then, a gunshot rang out.

She was actually feigning weakness to ambush her prey4, deliberately appearing vulnerable, yet holding her ground until the very end, truly intending to fight Fu Chaoyun to the death.

Countless people poured out from the guest rooms on both sides, armed with absolute deterrents, surrounding Fu Chaoyun’s group. If they didn’t surrender, they would be shot on sight.

Comparing law-abiding good citizens with lawless desperados, there was ultimately a difference.

—They lacked that reverence for the law.

Fu Chaoyun, however, seemed oblivious to the reversal of the situation. At this moment, her eyes only saw Pei Xuezhi’s suffering.

    Her footsteps paused.

    A moment later.

    She took another step forward.

Her hands raised high above her head.

    In a gesture of surrender.

    “I’ll trade.”

    “Let me take her place.”
