    “You. Are. Dreaming!”

    “So what?”

    Pei Xuezhi remained calm.

Chi Guisi’s gaze fell upon her, direct and intense, like a fierce wind or a tsunami, as if it could completely swallow a person.

“We are the same kind of people.”

    “We should rightfully be together.”

Responding to her was a light laugh from Pei Xuezhi—a sneer.

    The Alpha didn’t give up.

She sat opposite, suddenly leaning forward, bringing her face closer, placing it in a brightly lit area for the other to admire.

“You don’t like Omegas, so what about this current body? What about this one?”

“Alpha, a mixed-blood, and in terms of looks, not much worse than that ‘Fu Chaoyun’s’ face, right? My family has countless assets. When the time comes, we can go abroad. It’ll be perfect for making all sorts of Western food you like. I can hire famous chefs from all over the world to come back.”

Pei Xuezhi raised her eyes, her expression calm, yet just by looking so quietly, there was an indescribable sense of mockery. “Go abroad, and then what? Relying on the life you stole? How long do you think this state can be maintained?”

“A long time!” Chi Guisi said.

Her tone and demeanor carried a sense of superiority, completely disregarding others.

Even though this was an identity she had seized, even though this identity was not insignificant.

It was unknown whether it was a bad habit from previously occupying “Fu Chaoyun’s” identity, or if she was naturally like this, looking down on everyone.

After thinking for a moment, Chi Guisi added, “If Xuezhi gets tired of looking, I can change into another shell… Of course, no one will find out.”

She said it with great certainty, fundamentally not believing anyone would notice the difference—this point was indeed very strange.

The Scum A had escaped from “Mi Shan’s” body and entered “Chi Guisi’s” body, usurping it like a cuckoo in a magpie’s nest1. It had been three months now, yet for such a prominent heir of a large foreign family, no one had sensed anything abnormal.

Considering the “Mi Shan” incident, Mi Shan’s parents had previously sensed something was wrong, but during the period of bodily occupation, they chose to tolerate it or avoid seeing her. It wasn’t until the Scum A left that body that the people around them seemed to gradually awaken.

There must be some special method, but Pei Xuezhi couldn’t yet discern the key to it…

    That was also true.

If one could even achieve something like occupying another’s body, it wouldn’t be surprising to have means to weaken the suspicion of those around.

“No need.” At this moment, Pei Xuezhi answered with exceptional coldness. After finishing her meal, her gaze finally landed on the person opposite her.

    “I only like Fu Chaoyun.”

To put it more seriously, at this stage, it should probably be described with “love.”

Chi Guisi was furious, her expression changing. She deliberately twisted Pei Xuezhi’s words, “You only like ‘Fu Chaoyun’s’ face?”

Pei Xuezhi couldn’t be bothered to correct the one-sided wording of a paranoid person and added, “You seem to have misunderstood one thing.”

    Chi Guisi: “What?”

“You said my memories of my past life are fake—”

Pei Xuezhi had actually faintly sensed this. During the initial period after her rebirth and recovery of memories, Pei Xuezhi’s hatred was very deep; she was completely gloomy and vicious back then. But gradually…

It was unknown if it was due to spending more time with the entirely new Fu Chaoyun and being enlightened, or if fakes would always be fakes, and the false emotions faded. She no longer feared the scum version of Fu Chaoyun from before, and now she could even sit across from that person and chat calmly.

Perhaps it was a combination of both.

Pei Xuezhi paused, picking up a napkin from the side to wipe the corners of her lips—she was clearly from an ordinary background, yet when she made such a gesture, she naturally possessed a certain noble elegance, as if born to it.

Her lips were red without lipstick, extremely alluring, yet also exceedingly heartless.

“But it’s also a mix of truth and falsehood, not entirely fake, right?”

Pei Xuezhi said, “In your memories, I like to eat Western food, and I prefer being abroad rather than here. Have you ever thought—”

A smile touched Pei Xuezhi’s lips, cool like moonlight. “—that all of this is merely from your perspective?”

“I don’t want to dine with you, I don’t even want to be at the same table with you. Just the thought of breathing the same air as you disgusts me… I just wanted to escape you.”

“Because you make me feel revulsion, even nausea.”

The last two words were bitten out with extreme emphasis.

    “Enough!!”

Chi Guisi suddenly stood up opposite her, loudly interrupting Pei Xuezhi. Although she tried to control her emotions as quickly as possible, the expression on her face was still unsightly.

“I don’t want to hear such words again.”

Pei Xuezhi: “You don’t want to hear the truth either?”

She seemed to know where it hurt and deliberately stepped on that spot.

Chi Guisi’s body tensed up, then suddenly, in an instant, relaxed again. “Xuezhi, I know you want to retaliate against me.”

“It’s okay, it’s okay… I forgive you all…” The Alpha’s voice softened considerably, her azure eyes filled with a lingering tenderness. “You’ve just been bewitched. Once I’ve resolved everything, you’ll slowly get better.”

Pei Xuezhi had been completely unmoved by her gentle offensive earlier, but only now did a hint of sharpness appear, her cool and clear eyes instantly becoming aggressive.

“You’re going to deal with Fu Chaoyun?”

“Why can’t I deal with her?” Chi Guisi replied as if it were a matter of course, even sounding cheerful at this moment.

Originally, she had been entirely focused on watching Pei Xuezhi eat. Only now did she pick up the red wine beside her and take a light sip, her lips instantly stained a blood-like crimson, as if savoring some ultimate delicacy.

Paired with her more Western facial features, it instantly gave off the cold feeling of a vampire dining.

Under the lights, the gleam flowing in the Alpha’s eyes was strange and complex. “Dealing with the ‘me’ of the past—”

Speaking of this, she deliberately paused, then spoke in a tone that was entirely matter-of-fact, “—my body and new consciousness.”

Pei Xuezhi corrected, “She is the real Fu Chaoyun.”

Even though she had abducted the person, from beginning to end, Chi Guisi’s performance had been patient and gentle, appearing quite respectful of the other party.

But now, upon mentioning Fu Chaoyun’s name, a trace of contemptuous disdain finally appeared on her face. After a sneer of unclear meaning, her gaze eventually fell back on Pei Xuezhi’s face.

    “You think I’m an imitation?”

Her voice suddenly grew louder. “Clearly, I was the one who met you ‘first’. Don’t forget, we also have a past life!”

Somehow, even though Chi Guisi’s tone was emphasized, and what she said was indeed a fact, when she said the word “first,” Pei Xuezhi inexplicably had the illusion that the other party lacked confidence.

There was even a faint voice in her heart refuting: It’s not like that, it’s not like that…

Pei Xuezhi couldn’t help but frown.

How many memories was she actually missing? And what she was faintly touching upon seemed to be an extremely important part…

    “It’s okay.”

Realizing her attitude had been too harsh and might scare the other person, Chi Guisi’s face softened again.

She emphasized once more, “As long as ‘Fu Chaoyun’ is dealt with, everything will be fine, and you will come back to my side.”

    Pei Xuezhi: “Impossible!”

She had never been with her, let alone “come back.”

The Alpha smiled, indulgently and patiently, looking at her as if looking at an ignorant child.

“Xuezhi seems to not want me to go find trouble for that person, so you came over personally, to deal with me in advance… right?”

    Pei Xuezhi looked at her.

    Neither admitting nor denying.

Chi Guisi revealed a satisfied smile. “Hmm… looks like I guessed correctly.”

“Let me analyze Xuezhi’s thoughts further—”

Her gaze fell on Pei Xuezhi, meticulously, slowly unraveling things layer by layer.

“You still harbor ill feelings towards me, very strong ones—even though I’ve said many times that it’s because you’re confused by false memories. Actually, we have quite a few beautiful memories between us… no worse than those you have with that ‘Fu Chaoyun’…”

“Alright, you don’t want to hear me say these things. But even in this situation, my Xuezhi is rational, intelligent, and can maintain absolute clarity under such circumstances.”

“You noticed my first two moves.”

“When I confronted ‘Fu Chaoyun,’ I was absolutely merciless, but towards you, I never acted cruelly. This is completely different from your original memories.”

“So this time, you deliberately cooperated with my actions, precisely to help that person get rid of me in advance… right?”

Chi Guisi was smiling, with a rather sweet expression, but when she said the word “get rid of,” a trace of sharpness inevitably flashed across her face.

—This was an instinctive reaction to a threat to her life.

    She was right.

    Pei Xuezhi was wary.

When a biological mother suddenly appeared, accompanied by countless assets, she was able to remain vigilant and completely unmoved. Now that a huge benefit was suddenly presented, and it happened to appear with such coincidence, how could she not be wary? Not overthink?

The reason Chi Guisi’s plan had progressed so smoothly was partly due to her active cooperation.

Supporting her in doing so was, on one hand, what the Scum A mentioned—the message her previous two actions had left for Pei Xuezhi. On the other hand, it was the recent developments that made her question her memories of her past life.

But all of the above were just objective factors that could reduce the danger of her actions by a few degrees. The real foundation supporting her “knowingly walking into the tiger’s den despite the danger”2 was to clear obstacles for Fu Chaoyun.

Even though she knew the other party wasn’t as bad as she remembered, some memories from her past life still had many negative effects on her, causing displeasure and even nausea, such as the cloying words the person across from her was saying now.

But for her, it was at most enduring verbal displeasure. This one, when facing the avenging Ah Yun, was the type to strike to kill, and her current power was even greater, plus her foreigner status made her even harder to deal with.

So this time, she chose to strike first to gain the upper hand.

—Before the Scum A could make a move, she would deal with the opponent first!

    Would there be danger?

    Definitely.

But if left unchecked, the other party was like a rat hiding in the dark; each move would only be more malicious, and Fu Chaoyun’s situation would only become more dangerous.

So she had to use herself to lure the other party out first, at least to bring them under her own watch, lock them down, and prevent them from making any more sneaky moves behind the scenes!

Now that Pei Xuezhi’s thoughts were exposed, she showed no sign of panic. Like the other party, her purpose was also too obvious.

As the shell of numerous false memories was stripped away, she could vaguely glimpse some truth.

For example, this Alpha in front of her was not that stupid.

“So what?” Pei Xuezhi asked again. “You’re going to lock me up again, right?”

“Xuezhi,” she called out gently, yet seemingly helplessly. “I don’t want to emphasize to you again, those are all fake.”

    Meeting Pei Xuezhi’s gaze.

“I love you so much, how could I possibly do that to you?”

Pei Xuezhi’s voice was faint: “Is that so.”

Chi Guisi, however, propped up her head to look at her. It was clearly a completely different face and eye color, but at this moment, her expression was strangely somewhat similar to Fu Chaoyun’s.

    But Pei Xuezhi didn’t notice.

And Chi Guisi didn’t seem to care whether she believed it or not, suddenly smiling again. “Speaking of which, I should actually thank… her.”

After all, “Fu Chaoyun” was a shell she had used in the past. She still seemed unaccustomed to referring to the other party in the third person; when she spoke of her, she would inevitably hesitate, taking a moment to sort out her words.

“Regardless of the reason, even if I’m mad with jealousy, I have to thank her for ‘sending’ you to my side. Otherwise, being deceived, my Xuezhi wouldn’t know how long she’d keep running.”

Pei Xuezhi was not receptive to her sweet talk.

    “Moreover—”

“She must be looking for you right now too, right? As long as I make a little noise.”

The azure eyes instantly deepened, revealing a hint of ruthlessness. “She will definitely chase after me.”

    And a hint of delight.

“Then I can personally finish her off in front of Xuezhi!”

Pei Xuezhi suddenly raised her eyes to stare at her.

The Alpha met her gaze, presenting a kind of detached indifference. “Since Xuezhi didn’t like me when I was ‘Fu Chaoyun,’ then let’s destroy it.”

    Pei Xuezhi: “You can’t!!”

    “I can!”

Chi Guisi suddenly and quickly interrupted her.

Her voice was both gloomy and gentle. “Then no one will be able to stop us, Xuezhi. Aren’t you happy?”

Pei Xuezhi’s expression was cold and indifferent. The next second, however, she suddenly stood up. Chi Guisi had served Western food, using a knife and fork. Unbeknownst to anyone, she had concealed a thin knife in her hand.

At this moment, she abruptly rose, darting forward, aiming straight for Chi Guisi’s throat.

The movement was fast and precise.

An Alpha’s neck was equally vulnerable. The cutlery was of excellent quality; merely grazing it broke the skin, and fresh blood began to flow.

That was such a vital spot; just looking at it felt painful, yet the person involved, Chi Guisi, felt nothing at all. She even smiled, gratified.

“This is the ‘Pei Xuezhi’ I know.”

Pei Xuezhi’s knife had come straight from the front, her body leaning slightly forward, across the numerous untouched dishes on the table.

She hadn’t intended to kill—not out of mercy, but because their identities were special. She now had ties and didn’t want to throw away her life for such a scumbag lunatic.

But there was definitely an intention to teach the other party a lesson.

Pei Xuezhi’s skills were not bad, but there was a physical disparity between an Omega and an Alpha. The new body the other party occupied had undergone considerable training. Pei Xuezhi released her killing intent almost instantaneously, and the other party only slightly tilted her head the moment she leaped, avoiding her strong attack.

This proved another point: the other party’s soul was extremely well integrated with this current body.

At least, there was no sign of rejection, even now that she was injured.

Pei Xuezhi’s gaze was icy. Her sudden attack having failed, her wrist landed in the other’s palm and was grasped.

Now it was even being gently caressed by the other person, as if flirting. Even though it was cold today and there was a thick layer of clothing, Pei Xuezhi still felt an indescribable nausea.

This was clearly visible on her face. She wanted to withdraw her hand, but Chi Guisi tightened her grip. She didn’t tend to her wound, still focusing intently, even affectionately, on Pei Xuezhi, speaking slowly, joyfully, with a smile.

“I knew you were like this all along, and I accept you like this. We are a match made in heaven, destined to be together.”

“But you don’t seem to have exposed this side of yourself to her yet, have you?”

“What will she think of you?”

Pei Xuezhi lowered her eyes, seemingly struck by the words, momentarily forgetting to struggle.

Noticing her appearance, the Alpha became even more pleased.

“We both know, this current ‘Fu Chaoyun’s’ emotions are all too bright. You act happy and cheerful in front of her, like a normal person. But you and I both know, you have a dark side. You see, once it erupts, it will be like this.”

“When, at some point, you expose your true self to her, what will she do? She’ll be scared, she’ll run away, right? Because you’ve always been deceiving her with a false front!”

“She can’t accept this version of you.”

“So be with me. I understand you the best. I’ll accept all your good moods and bad tempers. You don’t need to hide your true nature in front of me; I will accept everything about you.”

Speaking to this point, Chi Guisi paused slightly. Warm blood flowed steadily from her neck, yet she never wiped it, nor did she call anyone to treat it, only looking at Pei Xuezhi.

Her azure eyes transformed into a look of deep affection, infinitely infatuated.

“So come back, come back to my side.”

“We are the true heaven-made, earth-formed pair3, the other half destined to be together.”

Pei Xuezhi slowly raised her head, but faster than her was the alarm sounding in the room, accompanied by a panicked voice.

“That person from the Fu family has tracked us down!”

Chi Guisi completely ignored her subordinate’s report; at this moment, her gaze was entirely fixed on Pei Xuezhi.

It was also this small interruption that allowed Pei Xuezhi to break free from the other’s restraint, her wrist escaping from the other’s palm.

Only at this moment did the Alpha clearly see that there was no trace of disappointment on the other’s face, much less the panic and indecision after being persuaded by her.

She was indifferent, and also smiling.

—However, the former was directed at her, while the latter was…

Pei Xuezhi’s bottomless dark eyes met hers, and she heard the Omega say, word by word.

    “You. Are. Dreaming!!”
