    Last Will

You must wait for me to return.

Shiyi, find a way to hurt my legs.

So, has it become this serious? Shiyi had long anticipated her deteriorating health, knowing that using a wheelchair was inevitable, but seeing Wei Hui standing each day, she clung to a glimmer of hope. She didn’t want to see her fall, didn’t want to see her in a wheelchair, didn’t want such a proud person to show weakness to everyone.

Shiyi’s eyes were blurred with tears. Wei Hui continued speaking intermittently behind her, but she couldn’t hear anything anymore. Her ears were buzzing, head dizzy, face deathly pale, as if she was the one with the heart condition, not Wei Hui.

Outside the door, Luo Zhouping paced back and forth. Seeing Shiyi’s state, Wei Hui called out: “Shiyi, go open the door.”

Shiyi stood dazed, staring blankly at her. Wei Hui stood up from her stool, the pain in her chest reaching its peak. Gritting her teeth, she walked to Shiyi’s side, wanting to give her an embrace but lacking the strength. Her hand reached for Shiyi’s waist but slowly dropped again. She said: “Be good, go open the door. I can’t hold on much longer.”

As if awakening from a dream, Shiyi immediately helped her sit on the sofa, handed her the phone, took two deep breaths, and as the red haze gradually cleared from her vision, she strode to the door. Opening it, her voice was as cold as before: “President Luo, President Wei asks you to enter.”

Through the door crack, Luo Zhouping saw Wei Hui holding her phone making a call. He observed her profile – sharp eyebrows, straight nose, crimson lips – nothing about her appeared sick. Her voice came through, lowered to a piercing tone: “President Du, please rest assured, it won’t delay our cooperation. Wei Tian won’t stumble over such a small obstacle.”

    “No need.”

“Then it’s settled, hoping President Du can attend next week’s completion ceremony…”

Luo Zhouping cast a suspicious glance inside, then looked at Shiyi. The two directors behind him softly asked: “President Wei seems very busy?”

Shiyi smiled: “Of course busy, everyone knows the company recently had a mole, President Wei is busy catching the traitor.”

That single statement made Luo Zhouping’s expression change. He watched Wei Hui like an eagle, as if trying to see through her completely, but this woman had been unfathomable to him since she took over Wei Tian, let alone now. Under Shiyi’s calm gaze, he smiled: “Since President Wei is busy, we’ll come back in the afternoon.”

He was about to leave when Shiyi coldly said: “Stop.”

Luo Zhouping turned around as Shiyi continued: “Didn’t President Luo just say there were important matters to report? The abandoned building project will be completed next week, and there can’t be any mistakes. As a shareholder of Qimao, I have the responsibility to supervise. I also want to hear what important matters President Luo was talking about!”

What matters could he possibly have? He merely used this excuse to check on Wei Hui. Now being questioned directly by Shiyi, his face turned cold: “This seems to be Wei Tian’s business.”

“As long as it’s related to the abandoned building, it’s also Qimao’s business.” Shiyi spoke with firm authority: “Or has President Luo suddenly found a solution and doesn’t need to report anymore?”

Luo Zhouping gritted his teeth looking at Shiyi, never expecting that little yellow-haired girl in his memory had grown such sharp teeth. He said angrily: “Yes, I suddenly found a solution.”

Shiyi smiled: “President Luo is truly impressive, but I hope in the future when President Luo encounters similar situations, he’ll first consider solutions himself instead of bothering President Wei with everything.”

“This company doesn’t keep idle people.”

“You!” Luo Zhouping, having been countered by Shiyi several times, turned pig-liver red with anger. Shiyi calmly said: “Assistant Pei, in the future when President Luo wants to see President Wei, you must first clarify what matters he has. President Wei is busy and has no time for trivial matters.”

Assistant Pei watched the frustrated Luo Zhouping, lowered his head, showing a smile unseen for long, and said: “Understood, I’ll remember that.”

Hearing these two working in concert, completely disregarding him as vice president, the two shareholders behind him also lost face. The three left huffing angrily. Watching their departing figures, Shiyi’s face showed no relief, instead telling Pei Tian: “Don’t let anyone in.”

Pei Tian examined her with his gaze, and after a moment, bowed solemnly: “Understood.”

Shiyi immediately went to Wei Hui’s office. She had already put down her phone, hand clutching her chest. The hand that had received the IV drip hung down, blood seeping through, falling onto her fair hand, startlingly visible. Shiyi approached, saying painfully: “Huihui.”

Wei Hui leaned against the sofa, regaining consciousness, and turned her head: “Did they leave?”

    Shiyi nodded: “They left.”

Wei Hui took two deep breaths and said to her: “Go to the rest room and get my medicine.”

“Let me call Doctor Su.” Shiyi asked anxiously, but Wei Hui shook her head: “We can’t. Luo Zhouping is watching Ziyian now, don’t let him come to the company freely.”

Just now, due to lack of consideration, letting Su Ziyian come to the company almost exposed everything. If Shiyi hadn’t been here this time, news of her illness would likely have been announced to the world.

Shiyi’s brows were tightly knitted with worry: “Then what should we do? I don’t want you in a wheelchair!”

She spoke, nearly breaking down: “I just came back, I just saw you, I haven’t even had the chance to properly hold you, haven’t had the chance to be with you properly, how can you be so cruel, what am I supposed to do?”

    “Huihui.”

    “My heart aches.”

Shiyi threw herself into her embrace, not a trace remaining of her earlier demeanor before Luo Zhouping, as if returning to when she first entered the Wei family. She was fearful of Wei Hui’s illness, afraid she would suddenly collapse, becoming timid and submissive.

Wei Hui patted her back, caught her breath, and said: “Shiyi, life and death are predetermined, we can’t force it.”

“But I want to force it!” Shiyi stared at her steadily: “I want you to be well.”

“Shiyi.” Wei Hui’s face turned cold, her gaze distant, features sharp. When Shiyi met those fierce eyebrows, all her emotions retreated and dissipated. She held Wei Hui’s waist and said resignedly: “Alright.”

    “Whatever you say.”

Wei Hui suppressed the pain in her chest and said: “Go get my medicine.”

Shiyi reluctantly rose from her embrace and walked into the rest room. After giving Wei Hui her medicine, she saw Wei Hui still wanting to work, and Shiyi immediately snatched the documents from her hands: “I’ll do it.”

Wei Hui sat beside her, watched her for a few seconds, and smiled: “That’s good, I actually have something to tell you.”

Shiyi tilted her head: “What is it?”

“I need to recover now, and the company can’t be without someone in charge. If I let you take my position now, Luo Zhouping definitely won’t agree, so I’ll temporarily have you take the other vice president position.”

Originally, Wei Tian had two vice presidents, but after Luo Zhouping came, he pushed out the other one, ruling with absolute power. Wei Hui was mentally exhausted and couldn’t control him, so until now, the other vice president position remained empty. Shiyi was startled: “Will Luo Zhouping agree?”

“He has no choice but to agree.” After taking the medicine, Wei Hui’s complexion improved significantly, her phoenix eyes softening. She said: “Do you remember why I bought the abandoned building?”

Shiyi thought for a few seconds: “Because there’s a commercial street just across the road.”

“Correct.” Wei Hui’s expression became very serious when discussing business matters. She continued: “The abandoned building is just completed, the commercial street isn’t finished yet, there won’t be much profit in the short term, and the company just lost 30 million. The shareholders won’t say anything now, but they’ll definitely demand an explanation by year’s end. I got news from Du Yuexing that not only Jiangcheng, but Huaicheng is also building a commercial street. I’ve looked at the location, there’s an auction next week. I want you to buy that plot of land.”

Shiyi frowned and asked: “But without profit, do we have enough funds?”

Wei Hui shook her head: “Not enough, so you need to go see Du Yuehan, ask for his help.”

“What will this land be used for?”

Wei Hui thought for a moment, looking at Shiyi: “To resell.”

“Right now, nobody knows the purpose of this land. By the time news gets out, the land will already belong to Wei Tian. Selling it before year’s end will not only cover the 30 million deficit, but also serve as your generous gift to everyone as the new vice president.”

“I believe they won’t have any objections, and Luo Zhouping won’t be able to do anything about you.”

Shiyi’s heart ached watching her strategic planning. She had arranged everything so properly, was it because she was prepared to leave at any time?

But she wasn’t ready for that.

Shiyi bit her lip corner: “Alright, I’ll go.”

    Wei Hui beckoned: “Come here.”

Shiyi sat down beside her on the sofa. Wei Hui took her hand, one hand warm and cozy, the other hand’s fingertips cold and emanating frost. Wei Hui rested her head on Shiyi’s shoulder: “Shiyi, find a way to get me in a wheelchair. In one month’s time, I hope you can enter the company, understand the procedures, and attend the auction.”

Her instructions were crisp and clear, yet every word was like a needle piercing Shiyi’s heart, blood instantly spreading, making her body tremble lightly, face pale, fingertips shaking.

Shiyi gripped Wei Hui’s hand tightly, her voice hoarse: “Is there no other way?”

Wei Hui leaned on her shoulder, shaking her head with minimal movement: “No, this is the most reliable way.”

“Shiyi, don’t be afraid. If I really can’t hold on, I can still get an artificial heart transplant, I can still accompany you for a few more years.”

Shiyi’s throat felt stuffed with cotton, all sounds stuck there. Her lips opened like a mute, unable to speak. After a long while, a voice with altered tone from suppression finally sounded in the room: “Only a few years?”

Wei Hui lowered her eyes, hand caressing Shiyi’s hand, smiling: “What’s wrong, always crying and whimpering, if you continue like this, I’ll get angry.”

Shiyi bit her lip, forcefully swallowing back her heartache, her eyes rimmed red. She took a deep breath, voice trembling: “I’m fine.”

“Good that you’re fine.” Wei Hui forced herself not to look at her profile, continuing: “I’ve arranged a meeting with Du Yuehan in half an hour, you know what to say, right?”

The blue veins on Shiyi’s neck stood out, but she didn’t speak with desperation, only very calmly and gently: “I know what to say.”

Wei Hui used her last strength to pat her head: “Good, my little girl has really grown up.”

Shiyi bit her lip and smiled at Wei Hui. Wei Hui leaned forward and kissed her, both wearing the same lipstick, sharing the same sweet fragrance. Wei Hui didn’t have much strength, but Shiyi let her take what she wanted, cooperating fully, their lips and tongues intertwined. Wei Hui kissed her for several minutes before letting go, smiling: “Go now, I’ll wait for you to return.”

Shiyi, soothed by the kiss, stood up and walked to the desk to pick up the report, saying: “Then I’ll go now, you must wait for me to return.”

Wei Hui nodded firmly, eyes smiling: “Alright.”

Shiyi left the office with an uneasy heart. Before leaving, she looked back at Wei Hui several times reluctantly, seeing her sitting on the sofa nodding slightly at her, only then did she stride away.

As the office door closed, Wei Hui clutched her chest tightly, teeth biting her lips desperately, her body wracked with pain as if gone mad. Her scalp tingling, she curled up her body. Her lips were bitten through, the metallic sweetness seeping into her mouth. Wei Hui couldn’t hold back anymore, suddenly coughing violently, blood from her throat spraying onto the sofa. She immediately wiped it with tissues, but the bloodstains had already seeped into the sofa’s surface, leaving a small brown mark.

Half an hour later, Pei Tian received an internal call, Wei Hui’s voice low: “Ask Attorney Cheng to come.”

Pei Tian held the receiver, a chill running through his body in the height of summer, his spine turning cold. He asked: “Third Miss, what do you need Attorney Cheng for?”

Wei Hui didn’t hide it from him, her tone steady, voice normal: “Ask him to come, just say—”

“I need to modify my will.”
