After Transmigrating into the Villain’s Cat, I Dominated the Entertainment Circle – Chapter 93
by Little PandaI Only Have You, My One and Only Cat
Sparks of Love
Lin Sifei was lying in bed, fast asleep.
As she slept, her legs started to feel a little cold.
Lin Sifei whimpered, pulling her legs in and snuggling deeper into the covers. “Luo Ke, it’s so cold.”
She called out twice, but no one answered.
The cold woke Lin Sifei up. She opened her eyes in a huff. The space beside her in bed was empty; Luo Ke wasn’t there.
Wrapping the quilt around herself, she stepped onto the ice-cold floor, a feeling like needles pricking her feet, and ran out of the room.
She zipped straight into the study and, sure enough, saw Luo Ke sitting in front of the computer.
“Hmph!” Lin Sifei stomped over to the sofa, plopped down, wrapped herself up tightly, and closed her eyes to go back to sleep.
“Why did you come over here?” Luo Ke asked, looking at her strangely.
Lin Sifei’s temper upon waking was incredibly foul. She angrily balled herself up. “Don’t talk to me.”
Luo Ke chuckled and got up to go to the bedroom. She discovered it had started raining outside at some point. The open window let in a cold draft, and it was indeed a bit chilly.
No wonder Xiao Xiao was angry. She hadn’t slept well.
She closed the window and turned to go back. The phone on the nightstand rang. She glanced at it and saw it was a call from Li Tao.
She took the phone to Lin Sifei. Lin Sifei groggily opened her eyes, grabbed the phone, and answered in a curt tone.
“Hello?”
Li Tao paid her tone no mind. “The variety show 《The Journey》 released a preview. It’s officially premiering tonight. You’re the only one who hasn’t reposted it yet.”
“Got it.” Lin Sifei didn’t even open her eyes as she handed the phone to Luo Ke. “Help me repost it.”
She flopped back onto the sofa and fell asleep.
Luo Ke helplessly took the phone and said to Li Tao, “I’ll repost it for her, don’t worry.”
Li Tao sighed. He really didn’t know what to do with this salted fish1 of an artist. But she insisted on managing her own account, so now he had to call her separately for every little thing.
Thank goodness President Luo was reliable. Otherwise, who knew how many times the car would have overturned2.
Lin Sifei slept until the afternoon before finally rubbing her eyes and sitting up.
“You’re up? Let’s have lunch,” Luo Ke said, getting up and turning off the computer.
Lin Sifei was still in a daze. “What time is it?”
“One-thirty.”
Lin Sifei blinked slowly, then leisurely got up and shuffled into the bathroom to wash up.
“If you dilly-dally any longer, you’d better watch out. You might turn into a cat, and then you’ll only be able to gnaw on cat food.”
Lin Sifei shuddered, suddenly wide awake. She tidied herself up efficiently and sat down at the dining table.
“Ooh, there are chicken legs today,” she said, picking up her chopsticks and aiming straight for a drumstick.
Luo Ke sat down across from her. “Auntie Wu knows you love them, so she made a little extra. You can have them as a snack later.”
Lin Sifei nodded vigorously and looked at Luo Ke. “It’s already one-thirty. Why didn’t you eat earlier?”
“I was waiting for you.” Luo Ke glanced at her. “You little heartless one3, you’re not going to show me any concern?”
“Mwah, mwah, mwah! You’ve worked hard, Luo Ke!” Lin Sifei said with a smile, placing a chicken leg in her bowl. “This one’s bigger, it’s for you.”
She licked her lips, still smiling. “Don’t wait for me to eat next time. It’s bad for your health to not eat on time.”
“You know that, yet you still won’t get up to eat.”
“It doesn’t matter to me. I’m used to it,” Lin Sifei mumbled with a laugh.
Luo Ke shot her a look. “You don’t eat on time when you’re filming, do you?”
“Most of the time, I guess not.”
Luo Ke said, “Then from now on, I’ll have Li Jing supervise you. When it’s about time, she can go remind the director. This is too damaging to your health.”
“But sometimes, when inspiration strikes…”
“Sometimes!” Luo Ke was extremely serious. “Then most of the instances of not being on time can be avoided.”
“Alright.” Lin Sifei nodded earnestly while gnawing on a bone. Who wouldn’t like to clock off on time? With Li Jing tanking the damage4 for her, she could happily call it a day.
“By the way, I should start filming 《Migration》 in a while. The director seems to have already finalized the cast, and the sets are built.”
Luo Ke immediately looked up, vigilant. “Will you have to film on location this time too?”
“Pfft!” Seeing her nervous expression, Lin Sifei couldn’t help but laugh. “Don’t worry, this one’s a sci-fi movie. It’s all filmed indoors with a green screen5. No outdoor scenes.”
Luo Ke breathed a sigh of relief. “Still at the Film City6? Then you won’t need to stay up all night filming, either. I can pick you up after I get off work?”
“Sure. We can experience what a normal work-life balance feels like.”
Lin Sifei happily gnawed on two chicken legs, then slumped comfortably in her chair.
As Luo Ke cleared the table, she reminded her, “You have a shoot coming up, shouldn’t you be losing weight again?”
Her gaze drifted to Lin Sifei’s stomach. Lin Sifei instantly covered her belly. “Are you some kind of demon!”
Luo Ke smiled. “Even if I don’t say it, you can’t escape it.”
Lin Sifei let out a wail and went to collapse on the sofa. She couldn’t exercise right after eating. She had to seize the opportunity to be a salted fish, even if it was just for a little while!
Once a person becomes a salted fish, they want to stay that way forever.
Luo Ke waited for a long time before glancing over at her.
Lin Sifei feigned ignorance, curled up her legs, and transformed into a cat, sprawling on the sofa.
Luo Ke strode over to her, reached out, and picked her up. “Time to run.”
“Meeeooww!” You demon!
Lin Sifei clung desperately to the sofa, her claws practically tearing out the fabric, refusing to let go.
Luo Ke gave her a long stroke down her tail, and Lin Sifei couldn’t help but go limp.
Luo Ke successfully scooped up the cat, went to the gym, turned on the treadmill, and placed the cat on it.
Lin Sifei had no choice but to accept her fate, her four paws starting to run.
After a full round, Lin Sifei was exhausted. She slowly walked to a corner of the room, turned back into a human, and put on her clothes.
She picked up a water bottle and chugged. “Ah!”
Luo Ke, who was walking slowly beside her, looked at her and said heartlessly, “You haven’t been training seriously at all lately. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be in so much pain right now.”
Lin Sifei flew into a rage. “Every time I come home, who is it that drags me upstairs and forgets about me? Do I even have a chance to exercise?”
Luo Ke averted her gaze and continued walking in silence.
After resting for a bit, Lin Sifei also got on a treadmill and started walking slowly. “What did Li Tao call about earlier?”
Luo Ke gave her a helpless look. “The variety show you filmed is online. It airs tonight.”
Lin Sifei’s eyes widened, and she let out a cheer. “That’s great!”
“Why so happy? That show wasn’t anything special.”
Lin Sifei flicked her ponytail. “Wasn’t Yan Yafei being all passive-aggressive7 with me in there? She had her fans start a fight with me once before and lost. This is perfect. Now, every sarcastic word she said on that show will be scrutinized.”
“I’m going to work out hard so I can be the first to watch!” Lin Sifei was instantly motivated and turned on the treadmill.
While she was running, Luo Ke’s phone rang.
She glanced at the caller ID and frowned slightly. “It’s Bai Xingrui.”
Hearing the name, Lin Sifei stopped the treadmill and leaned over. “Quick, answer it. Let’s see how she’s doing.”
Luo Ke answered the video call, and Bai Xingrui’s face appeared on the screen. She seemed to be out shopping; the background was a coffee shop.
“Hey, you two,” Bai Xingrui waved, looking listless.
Lin Sifei pressed her face close to Luo Ke’s, appearing in the frame with her. “Hey, are you okay?”
“I’m not!” Bai Xingrui leaned back in her chair. “I haven’t even been able to touch my phone this whole time. I just applied to get usage rights a minute ago.”
“You didn’t come to the engagement ceremony either,” Luo Ke pointed out coolly. “You’re in the country now. Can she still lock you up?”
At that, Bai Xingrui’s expression turned resentful, and she grit her teeth. “She can’t, but my parents can! While I was gone, she must have said something to them. Anyway, my mom and dad trust her completely now. They think she’s some poor little thing I dumped. They’re helping her hold me captive, they froze my cards, and they won’t even give me my phone.”
“You did dump her,” Luo Ke said, stabbing her with the knife8 of truth.
Lin Sifei nodded beside her, chiming in, “You can’t just because she followed you here, deny that you dumped her.”
Bai Xingrui rubbed her nose sheepishly. “But she’s not a poor little thing.”
“Your reputation as a scum woman is deeply ingrained. Otherwise, Uncle and Auntie wouldn’t have been so easily deceived.”
Bai Xingrui propped her chin on her hand and sighed. “I’m just full of regret now.”
Just as she was speaking, a tall, slender figure appeared behind her. Long, silver hair fell onto her shoulders, and a face with deep-set features appeared in the camera’s view. “Who are you chatting with?”
“Luo Ke and Lin Sifei.”
Diana glanced at the phone screen, pulled out a chair, and sat down beside her.
The atmosphere instantly froze. Diana’s gaze was just too aggressive, like she was guarding against a thief.
Bai Xingrui shrank back a little and rolled her eyes at her. “Don’t go too far. Those two are engaged, and Luo Ke and I have known each other for ages. Nothing ever happened.”
Diana nodded, but her eyes remained fixed on Luo Ke.
Lin Sifei’s brow twitched. She reached out and linked her arm with Luo Ke’s. “Rui’er, it’s such a shame you missed the engagement party. How about we go out for a meal together sometime soon?”
Seeing her smile, Bai Xingrui immediately sat up straight. “Yes, yes, of course.”
Diana’s expression instantly darkened, and she shot Lin Sifei a fierce look.
Lin Sifei’s bravado vanished, and she tried to push Luo Ke forward.
Luo Ke glared at Diana, then at Bai Xingrui. “Watch your eyes.”
Bai Xingrui huffed. “This is purely an appreciation for beauty.”
“You said that to every ex-girlfriend you broke up with. It wasn’t love, just the illusion of appreciating beauty.” Luo Ke’s eyes shifted to Diana, and a cryptic smile played on her lips. “Have you said that to Diana?”
Bai Xingrui’s face changed slightly. Her eyes darted to the person beside her, and sure enough, she saw Diana’s awful expression.
“Rui’er, just how many people have you said those things to?”
Bai Xingrui met her gaze and shivered, but then she became defiant. “That’s right, all those sweet nothings I said were lies! I don’t like you, so wake up!”
Diana clamped a hand on her shoulder, and then the screen went black.
Lin Sifei stared at the ended call and turned stiffly to Luo Ke. “What do we do? Why did you say that? Is Bai Xingrui going to get beaten up?”
“Don’t worry, she won’t be,” Luo Ke said calmly, putting her phone away. “If Diana were really that dangerous, Bai Xingrui would have definitely asked her parents for help. She wouldn’t be provoking her so recklessly.”
“She dares to provoke her so openly because she knows the other party won’t touch her.”
Lin Sifei was silent for a moment, then tilted her head. “Arrogant because she’s favored?”
Luo Ke’s mouth opened, but she found she had no rebuttal and nodded helplessly. “You’re right.”
Lin Sifei giggled and got back on the treadmill. “Well, as long as she’s okay, I can rest easy.”
That evening, Auntie Wu came and made dinner.
Lin Sifei ate until she was about seventy percent full, rubbing her stomach.
“Go for a walk to aid digestion9?”
Lin Sifei glanced at the time. There was still a while until the variety show went live. She nodded and held out her hand.
Luo Ke took her hand, pulled her up, and they both changed into their shoes.
The landscaping in their residential complex was very well done, with some small paths twisting and turning, dotted with little pavilions and a small pond here and there.
“It feels so peaceful,” Lin Sifei said, stretching her arms and hopping from one stone paver to the next.
“The season is perfect right now. Any warmer and the mosquitoes will be out.”
Lin Sifei nodded. She found another small path and pulled Luo Ke down it.
The path was lined with bamboo that had grown quickly and was already starting to obscure the way. Luckily, both of them were very slim, and they brushed past the bamboo leaves as they ran through.
“We’re out, we’re out.” Lin Sifei ducked out from under the foliage and let out a long breath.
When she looked up, she froze. This place looked a little familiar.
Overhead, a large lamp illuminated a wide plaza, especially the row of swings.
Lin Sifei looked at the swings and remembered certain things from before, her ears turning red.
Luo Ke emerged behind her and also saw the swings, her expression becoming meaningful.
“Are you hinting at something?” She curled her finger and held it to her bottom lip.
Lin Sifei gasped and spun around to cover Luo Ke’s eyes. “Don’t think weird things! It’s just an innocent, simple swing! It’s for playing!”
“Mm, for playing!”
Now, Lin Sifei’s neck was red, too.
She took a deep breath. Why should she be the only one who was embarrassed? She had to leave Luo Ke with some memories, too!
She grabbed Luo Ke’s wrist, pulled her over to the swing, and pushed her down onto it.
The swing’s chains made a crisp clinking sound. Luo Ke looked up at her, an angle from which one could see… a lot more. Her earlobes were faintly red as she wrapped her arms around Lin Sifei’s waist.
“Isn’t this a bad time? It’s too early, and there are still people outside…”
Lin Sifei pressed down on her shoulders, but before she could make a move, two children popped out of the nearby woods.
She jumped, startled, and snatched her hands back, holding them to her chest like a frightened rabbit.
The children were startled by her, too, and gave her a wide berth.
After a moment, the children came back and sat on the swings next to them. One child didn’t have a swing and stood off to the side, anxiously clutching the corner of his shirt.
The child on the swing next to Luo Ke stood up, gave him the swing, and then turned to them. “Jiejie, are you two playing? If not, can you let me have it?”
Lin Sifei’s face was beet red. Luo Ke also guiltily averted her gaze and quickly got up. “We’re not playing. You guys go ahead.”
She and Lin Sifei held hands and walked away quickly.
The children happily sat on the swings, laughing as they swung back and forth.
After that interruption, neither Lin Sifei nor Luo Ke was in the mood to stroll anymore. They held hands and went home.
“Has the variety show started?”
Luo Ke checked. “Almost.”
Lin Sifei excitedly went to get her laptop.
Luo Ke stopped her. “Go take a shower first. You were just running around in the woods, you must be dirty.”
“But then I won’t be able to see the latest part.”
“That’s perfect. It’s too early for barrage comments10 anyway, so you won’t see much.”
Lin Sifei thought about it and was convinced. She ran into the bathroom. “Then we’ll watch after we shower.”
When she came out of the shower, smelling fresh and clean, Lin Sifei felt a sense of crisis. She thought for a second, then piled the quilt into the shape of a nest, and transformed into a cat, settling inside.
As soon as Luo Ke came out, she saw her, skillfully tucking her paws in. She yawned at Luo Ke, as if complaining she had taken too long.
“Why did you turn into a cat?” Luo Ke sat down beside her.
Lin Sifei let out a “meow,” which Luo Ke guessed meant it was almost time.
She calculated the time and realized she did indeed need to be in cat form. Besides, if she turned into a cat now, she could sleep in Luo Ke’s arms tonight. All things considered, it was worth it.
She tied her hair into a low ponytail, opened the laptop, and sat down next to Lin Sifei.
Lin Sifei immediately scooted closer to the screen.
Luo Ke smiled, found the variety show, and clicked play.
Although they had both participated in the entire show, what was filmed and what was edited afterward were two completely different things.
Lin Sifei watched as Xu You11 and Lu Heng arrived at the villa one after another. They diligently tidied up the living room, swept the floor, and found some of the small tasks the production team had hidden.
“We’ll draw lots for the rooms in a bit and see what fate decides,” Xu You said, shaking a lottery box at the camera.
【Wake up, Lin Lu is fake, Feng Lu13 is the real deal.】
【I’m not shipping a BECP14, thanks. I want to ship15 Feifei and President Luo, why didn’t they invite President Luo!】
【They probably hadn’t made their official announcement when this was filmed. The production team likely wanted to pair up Lin Lu, but then…】
【Feng Yan16 is a good ship too! That couple’s mask incident from before.】
【Can Yan Yafei’s fans just shut up for a bit? Feng Tingyun already confessed his feelings, yet she’s still throwing herself at him17.】
【Are you the shipping police? I never said they were actually together.】
The show had just started, and the fans were already starting to tear each other apart over CPs. Then the only fans18 came out and told everyone not to ship anyone, and the whole group descended into chaos.
Lin Sifei had to turn off the barrage comments. But when Yan Yafei made her entrance, she immediately turned them back on.
“Sifei-jie,” Yan Yafei said with a smile on screen.
【??? I thought Yan Yafei was older than Lin Sifei?】
【Oh ho ho, a stone hammer19, Lin Sifei lied about her age.】
【Heh, Yan Yafei’s back to her yin-yang strange air again. Last time she wouldn’t even let go of a name. She really can’t stand Feifei, huh?】
Lin Sifei’s paw was already on the laptop. Seeing the fans start fighting, she tapped the computer excitedly.
“Meow-meow-meow!”
Luo Ke tilted her head in confusion.
Lin Sifei didn’t have time to explain. She pulled over her phone, found Li Tao’s number, and pointed at the screen.
Luo Ke connected her reaction to the situation and understood. She called Li Tao.
“Are you watching the show?”
Li Tao let out a troubled “mhm.” “A lot of people are saying Sifei lied about her age now. Why didn’t you correct her back then?”
Lin Sifei scratched her ear. She had done it on purpose. She wanted to give Yan Yafei a chance to smear her, so that just when she thought she could turn the tables, she could slap her right back down.
Fishing law enforcement20. Cats are very skilled at it.
Lin Sifei did correct her later in the show, but Yan Yafei didn’t change how she addressed her. It could have been passed off as a slip of the tongue, but since Yan Yafei had been so eager to tear her down before, it couldn’t be overlooked now.
Li Tao was still worried. “I’ll contact some people to suppress this and minimize the impact.”
“No need.” Luo Ke scratched Lin Sifei under the chin, watching her lounge comfortably on the laptop, and smiled. “Let them buy a hot search21. You buy one too. Buy one for ‘Yan Yafei intentionally acts green tea22 and pretends to be young,’ and then bring up the name incident from before to give everyone a refresher.”
With such clear instructions, how could Li Tao not understand?
The entertainment circle was a great dyeing vat23. One misstep could lead to a disastrous crash, so it was best not to offend anyone. He had grown accustomed to this model, only to have someone who disregarded the rules come crashing in.
It might be against the rules, but it felt damn good.
He rubbed his fists and wiped his palms, immediately getting the PR team to prepare overnight. This was a race against time. If their side got on the hot search first, then when Yan Yafei bought hers, wouldn’t that just be confirming their claims?
The variety show was still airing, and all sides were preparing their hot searches.
#FengTingyunLuHeng# This was bought by the production team, and they even bought the third spot.
#YanYafeiGreenTea# This was bought by Li Tao. He was clever about it, using a regular user account instead of a marketing account24 and posting screenshots from the show.
#LinSifeiLiedAboutHerAge# This was bought by Yan Yafei.
The first day of the show already had enough publicity stunts25. The production team was happy to see it happen and released a few more behind-the-scenes footage26 clips, mostly revolving around the four of them, providing ample material for netizens.
Lin Sifei scrolled through her phone. Seeing Li Tao had acted quickly and seized the high ground, she relaxed and continued watching the show.
She hadn’t participated in many variety shows in her past life, but thankfully, her years of acting experience gave her a high sensitivity to the camera. At the very least, she could ensure she didn’t wander out of frame and that her expression management27 didn’t collapse.
She had paused the video. When she resumed, she saw the production team’s car drive up again. This time it was a luxury sedan, completely different from the actors’ modest van.
Lin Sifei stared with her cat eyes, momentarily confused about who this could be.
It was only when she saw Luo Ke’s familiar shoes that she remembered.
Oh, right! Luo Ke went too! And she appeared right at the beginning! She’d completely forgotten!
She wasn’t the only one who was shocked. The barrage comments went insane.
【Holy fuck! It’s really President Luo! The production team is awesome!】
【Oh my god, so is this a romance variety show?】
【President Luo is so beautiful too. She could totally make a living with her looks, but she chose to rely on talent.】
【No, she relies on money!】
Clearly, because of Lin Sifei and Luo Ke’s official announcement, the production team had changed their plans at the last minute. What should have been a mundane task-announcement segment was now set to dramatic music. The team gave Luo Ke a face-on camera shot28, managing to make it feel like she was walking the red carpet.
Luo Ke walked toward the group with a faint smile, but the production team deliberately gave Lin Sifei a close-up shot, complete with a pink, shy special effect.
o(////▽////)q
Shy about what! I was clearly shocked! And angry! Stupid production team and your malicious editing29!
However, the barrage comments were already shipping them like crazy30.
Rows and rows of “a hundred years of happy union31” scrolled past.
【This year’s sweetest CP, baihe is the great law!】
【President Luo must have become a sponsor just for Feifei, right?】
【Definitely. Otherwise, she’s so busy, why would she personally show up for a variety show?】
Lin Sifei covered her face with her paws. You’ve discovered the truth.
Beside her, Luo Ke’s shoulders were trembling with laughter. Lin Sifei glared at her and swatted a paw in her direction, then laid her entire cat body across the laptop.
No looking!
“Don’t be difficult!” Luo Ke reached out, picked her up, and placed her in her lap, rubbing her ears as she continued to watch.
When their hands shook, the production team added an electric current effect, making the moment seem overflowing with love.
Lin Sifei was resigned. She could only accept reality.
But she never expected the production team to be even more shameless. They spliced in a shot of Yan Yafei staring at Luo Ke right after.
【? Why is Yan Yafei staring at someone else’s wife?】
【This… how many sides are there to this love triangle?】
【Love spurned, turning to the dark side for love… kinda makes for a good ship.】
【Can Yan Yafei just crawl away32! She even has to make shipping a CP disgusting.】
Lin Sifei was also full of question marks. She whipped her head around to stare at Luo Ke and smacked her paw down forcefully. “Meeeooww!”
Luo Ke held up her hands in surrender. “I don’t know! When did she ever look at me? I was looking at you the whole time, I have no idea what anyone else was doing.”
Lin Sifei narrowed her eyes at her. Then she thought about Yan Yafei’s criminal record of cat abuse. Luo Ke would definitely never like such a wicked woman.
“Meow, meow, meow!” Keep your distance! You’re a taken woman!
Luo Ke miraculously understood. Her surrendering hands smoothly transitioned into a vow. “I promise, I only have you, my one and only cat.”
Lin Sifei lifted her chin, snorted through her nose, and grudgingly let her off the hook.
The author has something to say:
The Production Team: Where’s the sugar33! Give it to me! Everyone ship them! Force them to ship it34!
The Fans: We’re shipping, we’re shipping!
