After Transmigrating into the Villain’s Cat, I Dominated the Entertainment Circle – Chapter 113

The Proposal
Lin Sifei made way for everyone to come inside.
Bai Xingrui set down the cardboard box she was holding and caught her breath. “I’m dead tired.”
“Thank you all for your trouble today.”
“Don’t be so formal,” Lu Heng said, opening a box. Inside was a pile of balloons and an electric pump. “Let’s get started.”
Everyone had a task. Lu Heng and Feng Tingyun were in the living room, inflating balloons. At first, they weren’t used to the speed of the electric pump, and a few balloons burst with a series of pops.
Meanwhile, Bai Xingrui and Lin Sifei sorted through the ribbons they would need.
“Here’s the dry ice,” Diana said, pointing to a box. “It’s best to put it somewhere inconspicuous.”
“It’s fine, the corner will do. Once the dry ice hits the floor, you won’t be able to see the box clearly anyway,” Lin Sifei said with a glance, then went back to sorting ribbons.
Looking at the height of the ceiling, Lu Heng and Feng Tingyun handed the balloons to the others. “We’ll hang them. We’re taller.”
The ribbons they bought had fluorescent powder on them, so everyone put on gloves before hanging them in the corners. Then, Bai Xingrui contacted workers to come and install a frame.
“We need workers?” Lin Sifei hadn’t expected it to be so complicated. She originally thought they could just hang everything from the ceiling.
“You want a meteor effect. How are you going to do that without a frame?” Bai Xingrui had this frame custom-made. It was covered in optical fibers that could imitate shooting stars according to a computer program.
With the workers needing to move around, everyone scrambled to move the living room furniture aside. A chaotic pile of things accumulated, and everyone was in a flurry of activity.
“Where are the fresh flowers I bought?”
“Fresh flowers? I haven’t seen any.”
Lin Sifei finally pulled the crushed flowers out from under a cardboard box. A group of people who had never done this kind of work before only made a bigger mess the busier they got.
But Lin Sifei didn’t know how to do it either, so she was in no position to talk. It was just a bunch of flapping rookie chickens.1
“I’ll go to the flower shop and buy more now. You guys keep going according to the design plan,” she said, dashing out the door.
There was no other choice; none of the nearby flower shops did deliveries.
Everything had to be ready by noon, because Luo Ke would definitely be back for lunch.
Meanwhile, Luo Ke was sitting in a chair, a tablet in her hands, quickly reviewing its contents.
Originally, it was just a small contract that would naturally be handled by the relevant manager. There was no need for her to appear personally. However, the company they were cooperating with this time was the Yuan Group.
Yuan Mo’s father had suddenly requested to discuss the contract in person. Since he was the president of his company and an elder, she couldn’t disrespect him and had no choice but to come herself.
She glanced at her watch. Director Yuan was already half an hour late. He had called earlier to say he was stuck in traffic. But it wasn’t rush hour, so she had no idea where he could possibly be held up.
She sighed internally. With such a long delay, she could have been lazing in bed a little longer with Xiao Xiao.
At that thought, she couldn’t help but smile. Unwittingly, Xiao Xiao’s laziness had infected her too. But it wasn’t a bad feeling.
Nearly twenty minutes later, Director Yuan finally arrived.
As soon as he entered, he smiled and extended a hand to shake Luo Ke’s, then sat down opposite her.
“I didn’t expect President Luo to come in person.”
Luo Ke was strictly business. “Of course I had to come personally. And thank you, Director Yuan, for placing such importance on this collaboration.”
“Ah, a good project naturally attracts people,” he said with a laugh, sitting up straight. “Could you give me a copy of the documents?”
He took the file and began to flip through it seriously.
Luo Ke was used to reading documents, and she could tell from his speed that this was the first time he was seeing them.
And he had just claimed it was because the project was good.
Luo Ke silently complained to herself, then couldn’t help but ponder Director Yuan’s true purpose for coming.
If it wasn’t for the project, then what could it be?
As she was thinking, Director Yuan finished reading the file and shook his head with a slight smile. “President Luo is as formidable as ever.”
“You’re too kind, Uncle.”
Director Yuan waved his hand. “This is quite different from the original contract.”
Luo Ke’s eyelids lifted slightly. She knew from his expression that she wouldn’t be able to get much of an advantage. But it wasn’t worth fighting over a small project. It was fine to concede a little.
“I can sign a supplementary contract and concede another 0.1 percent.”
What Luo Ke offered was already a lot, and Director Yuan knew she was intentionally making a concession. He nodded with a smile.
With that, the discussion was over. Luo Ke was about to stand up and take her leave.
“Hey, we’re not done talking yet,” Director Yuan said, gesturing for her to stay.
Luo Ke’s brow twitched, but she sat back down. “What else would you like to talk about, Uncle?”
“It’s about Xiao Mo’s recent affairs.” Director Yuan launched into a long, rambling story about how Yuan Mo had been excessively lazy lately, even trying to skip work.
As Luo Ke listened to him drone on, her eyes kept drifting to the watch on her wrist. Time ticked by. He had been talking for an hour already.
Having endured for so long, Luo Ke finally couldn’t help but interrupt.
“Uncle, what are you trying to do by holding me up?”
Director Yuan let out a hearty laugh, his hand resting on a suit button over his stomach. “Still so clever.”
Luo Ke accepted the compliment and asked for his reason again.
“I’m just helping someone out,” Director Yuan said nonchalantly, picking up the coffee on the table.
Luo Ke frowned, a little worried about Lin Sifei. She stood up to leave.
Afraid she would rush off and get into an accident, Director Yuan quickly said, “Don’t panic, it’s nothing serious.”
Luo Ke still hurried out, opened the car door, and told the driver to go.
Zhao Min quickly got in the car after her. “President Luo, there are still matters at the office. Perhaps we should head back to the company first?”
Luo Ke shot her a look. “Is today some kind of special day? Why is everyone trying to stall me?”
“No… nothing,” Zhao Min stammered, pursing her lips. She knew very well that she was about to turn traitor.
Luo Ke knew it too, so she just continued to stare at her.
Zhao Min took a deep breath. “It was Miss Lin’s request. You should probably not go back just yet.”
Xiao Xiao?
Luo Ke froze for a moment. Her first thought was that it was her birthday. She opened her phone’s calendar—it wasn’t.
She exited the calendar, and her hand suddenly paused as she swiped across the screen. Could it be… a proposal?
Her eyes shifted to Zhao Min. Seeing her assistant beaming like a flower, she knew she had guessed correctly.
Well, if Xiao Xiao wanted her to stay out a little longer, that wasn’t a problem.
She smiled and propped her chin on her hand. After a moment’s thought, she felt it was a shame to waste this time.
She tapped on the car door. “To the Suburban Prison.”
The driver started the car at her command.
Luo Ke went inside, filed an application, and was soon led by a staff member to the visitation area.
Through the transparent partition, she looked at the woman in a prison uniform with a wound on her forehead, and she smiled.
“Xiao Xiao is going to propose to me. We’ll be getting married soon.” She held up her hand toward Yan Yafei. “This engagement ring will be replaced very soon.”
Yan Yafei’s face twisted. “What? Lin Sifei doesn’t dare to see me?”
“It’s not about daring to or not. I just don’t want her to hear anything related to you ever again. It would affect her mood.”
Yan Yafei’s gaze turned venomous again. “She just got lucky.”
“She’s also a little nicer, a little prettier, and has a little better personality,” Luo Ke said, not at all concerned about provoking her. “She’s just a little better than you in every way. No, wait. A lot better.”
As expected, Yan Yafei was so angry her hands clenched into fists. She glared at Luo Ke, biting her lower lip.
Luo Ke smiled and stood up. “So, for her to remain happy forever, I hope you’ll stay in this place where she can’t see you.”
Yan Yafei’s eyes flew wide. “Don’t even think about it! I’ll get out eventually, and when I do, I won’t let you two have an easy time.”
Luo Ke opened her hand, revealing a voice recorder inside. “Receiving a threat from a convicted murderer… I think what Erik said about you showing remorse to get a reduced sentence is probably not going to hold up.”
Her eyes were pitch-black. “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure you stay in here for as long as possible.”
Yan Yafei shot to her feet, banging on the partition in front of her and cursing viciously.
Luo Ke was happy to spend time recording her foul language. Soon, Yan Yafei was dragged away by the prison guards.
She took the voice recorder and handed it to Zhao Min. “Give this to Lawyer Zhao.”
Zhao Min took it and began backing it up on her laptop.
“How much longer do I have to wait?” Luo Ke asked, a little impatient as the car drove steadily down the road.
Zhao Min took out her phone. “They’ll send me a message when they’re ready.”
Luo Ke stared at her phone. Zhao Min shivered, feeling like her new phone was about to be sacrificed, and quickly put it away.
Luo Ke retracted her gaze, her fingers tapping on her knee. “How about I go buy a gift?”
Zhao Min thought for a moment before saying, “Wouldn’t that reveal that you know about this?”
True. Luo Ke dismissed the idea. She wanted to see Lin Sifei’s secretive yet excited look.
Like a child secretly stuffing candy to a friend. It was kind of cute.
Zhao Min once again suggested returning to the company to handle some work, and was of course rejected again.
After some thought, Luo Ke finally had the driver stop on a street one block from their home. The car was parked in a spot, and being a low-profile black car, it didn’t attract any attention.
She gazed out the car window, her fingers tapping her leg one beat at a time, waiting for the message so they could leave immediately.
A splash of red appeared in her vision. She couldn’t help but look over and saw Lin Sifei walking out of a shop, holding a large bouquet of roses and smiling.
The sunlight hit the dewdrops on the petals, refracting a dazzling light, but she felt that none of it could compare to Lin Sifei’s smile right now.
She suddenly felt a little regretful. She shouldn’t have come. A little surprise would have been nice, too.
After an hour of stewing in the car with her regrets, Zhao Min’s phone finally vibrated.
Luo Ke’s eyes lit up. Without her needing to say a word, the driver immediately turned the car around and headed home.
When they arrived, Luo Ke didn’t even wait for the car to come to a complete stop. She opened the door, got out, and walked quickly to the front door.
She paused, took a deep breath, and opened it.
“Front door opening,” a mechanical voice announced.
Luo Ke pushed the door open and peered into the darkness within.
A hand grabbed her wrist and pulled her inside.
Luo Ke was startled for a second, but she recognized Lin Sifei’s hand and obediently followed.
She couldn’t see a thing in front of her; the room was pitch-black.
Luo Ke was a little confused as Lin Sifei led her forward.
She felt her feet step onto something like a hard plastic board. Immediately, a small lamp lit up beside her, casting a soft glow.
After that, with every step she took, another lamp lit up.
Luo Ke could see Lin Sifei’s back. She was wearing a backless white long dress, like an angel guiding her.
Finally, they reached the center, and Lin Sifei turned to look at her.
Luo Ke opened her mouth to speak, but Lin Sifei pressed a finger to her lips.
Then, the lights behind them suddenly went out, plunging everything into an even deeper darkness. All that remained was the warm touch of their hands.
A sky full of stars appeared, their faint light tracing Lin Sifei’s profile. A shooting star streaked across. Lin Sifei crossed her hands over her chest.
“Shooting star, shooting star, my wish is to marry Luo Ke. Will she say yes?” Lin Sifei opened her eyes and smiled at the person beside her.
“I will,” Luo Ke answered with a smile.
Lin Sifei pouted. “I’m asking the shooting star right now.”
Luo Ke suppressed a laugh. “Alright. She will definitely say yes.”
Satisfied, Lin Sifei spun around and, as if by magic, produced a large bouquet of roses. She knelt on one knee. “Luo Ke, will you marry me?”
“I will.” Luo Ke smiled and accepted the flowers. The moment she took them, she pulled Lin Sifei up and into her arms.
She looked at the lips before her, smiled, and kissed her.
