After Transmigrating into the Villain’s Cat, I Dominated the Entertainment Circle – Chapter 110
by Little PandaEnd of the Main Story
My love, I have been thankful countless times that you are still by my side.
Luo Ke sat down on the edge of the sofa, took out her tablet, and started working, ignoring Lin Sifei.
Lin Sifei whined and threw herself onto Luo Ke’s back. “Are you really angry?”
Luo Ke turned her head away, refusing to look at her.
Lin Sifei whined twice more and planted a kiss on her cheek. “Have you ever heard the saying, ‘Marriage is the tomb of love’?”
“We’ve been together for a long time, and we’ve lived together for a long time, without any problems,” Luo Ke said, pursing her lips to look at her. “We’ve never even had a fight.”
“Exactly.” Lin Sifei sat down beside her. “Because you’ve always been accommodating me. I’m such a salted fish, so lazy, relying on you for everything. Right now, you like me a lot, so you’re happy to do anything. But what about later? Ten years, twenty years, are you going to put up with me forever? Sooner or later, you won’t be able to stand it.”
Lin Sifei knew exactly what kind of person she was. She also knew that if Luo Ke wanted her to, she would change. But if one day a rift formed between them, all of this would become a source of mutual grievance, evidence of an unhappy marriage.
Just like her parents. Love couldn’t maintain its warmth forever.
Luo Ke looked into her eyes. “You still don’t trust me, is that it?”
“It’s not that I don’t trust you.” Lin Sifei forced a smile, trying to hide the panic in her heart.
But meeting Luo Ke’s gaze, she knew her pretense was useless. Her eyes reddened slightly. “I just… I don’t dare to believe in love, and I can’t believe in marriage. We’re very happy right now. Getting married or not makes no difference.”
“It does. If we’re married, I’ll be the only one with the right to stand by your side.”
“You already are.”
“It’s different.” Luo Ke shook her head, reaching out to stroke Lin Sifei’s hair. “I feel very insecure. I’m afraid I’ll wake up one morning and you won’t be there.”
Lin Sifei looked into her dark pupils and wrapped her arms around her neck. “Did I make you feel insecure? I…”
“It’s not your fault. It’s my problem. The people around me have always been leaving.”
Luo Ke’s heart was like a golden cage; once you entered, you could never leave. She had thought countless times about what she would do if Lin Sifei grew to hate her, and the final answer was always to let her go.
She couldn’t bear to see Lin Sifei sad, so the only person ever locked in the cage in her heart was herself.
Lin Sifei held Luo Ke, her lips pressed together. “I really like you so much. Maybe… we can try getting married.”
She placed her hands on Luo Ke’s shoulders, staring into her eyes. “However, you were the one who proposed last time we got engaged. This time, the proposal has to come from me. You just wait patiently.”
Luo Ke could feel the hands on her shoulders trembling slightly. “Are you scared?”
“A little.” Lin Sifei pulled her hands back and clenched them tightly.
She smiled at Luo Ke. “I’m using all my strength to go against my own reason and place my heart in your hands.”
She made a grabbing motion over her heart and pressed it into Luo Ke’s palm. “You’d better hold on tight.”
Luo Ke clasped her hand and murmured a soft “en.”
Lin Sifei smiled at her.
If only they had met sooner. Luo Ke wouldn’t have to worry about being abandoned, and she wouldn’t have to worry about being betrayed.
Then they wouldn’t have to be like this, holding each other so tightly, yet still feeling so insecure.
…
After attending the film festival, 《Migration》 rode the momentum of its big win and quickly set a release date. It would have three days of preview screenings, followed by its official release.
The promotional tour for these previews was much larger this time. Lin Sifei had to travel to several places, and of course, Luo Ke accompanied her.
At every screening, Luo Ke sat in the audience, watching the woman under the spotlight on stage. She would reveal a sweet smile, her dark eyes sparkling with a sky full of stars.
“Luo Ke, Luo Ke, are you tired? Do you want some water?” Lin Sifei took out a cup, pulled out the straw, and handed it over.
Luo Ke didn’t refuse, sipping the water as her eyes glanced at the screen.
Lin Sifei followed her gaze and whispered, “Is it boring? You’ve seen this movie several times already. You should have just stayed at the hotel and rested.”
“It’s fine. The movie is great no matter how many times I watch it.”
Luo Ke gave a faint smile and took out her phone, stuffing it into Lin Sifei’s hands. “I took a picture. See if it needs any editing.”
Lin Sifei took it and her eyes widened. Heavens, was this the same Luo Ke she knew? This photo was incredible.
She gave Luo Ke a thumbs-up. “It doesn’t need any editing at all, not even color correction.”
As she spoke, she leaned over to look again. “I’m so good-looking.”
Luo Ke couldn’t help but laugh, and she posted the photo to her Weibo.
【Luo Ke V: Original quote: “I’m so good-looking.” She’s not wrong [tongue out emoji]】
Ever since the two got engaged, fans had flocked to follow Luo Ke. Now, seeing the beautiful picture she took, they immediately agreed: You’re both right!
Fans went wild blowing rainbow farts,1 adding that today’s Feifei was especially beautiful, surely because of the ‘love filter’.
When Lin Sifei saw Luo Ke’s Weibo post, she forwarded it.
Just as they were enjoying themselves, the previously silent Gongbi popped up again, furiously accusing Lin Sifei of changing the script until the drama was unwatchable. He also claimed she was two-faced and faking her public persona.
After his last public flop, people didn’t trust him much anymore. Many were just there to watch the idiot make a scene.
The film crew and Li Tao saw it too, but none of them took it seriously. He was just a clown jumping on the beams.2
But this time, Gongbi came prepared. He actually released two videos. Lin Sifei’s image was terrible in both. One was blurry, taken in a parking garage, showing Lin Sifei leaning against a car door, laughing and mocking someone’s age. The other video showed Lin Sifei aggressively pulling Feng Xiao.
Gongbi sarcastically mocked Lin Sifei’s PR team, saying they were truly formidable, as expected of President Luo’s woman.
The first video was meant to establish a ‘green tea’3 image for Lin Sifei in the eyes of netizens, while the second video tied into the previous incident with Feng Xiao.
The screening of 《Migration》 wasn’t even over when Li Tao’s notification arrived.
The reporters had also received the news. A commotion stirred in the screening hall, with camera flashes going off from time to time.
Lin Sifei sighed and leaned close to Luo Ke’s ear. “This movie is so good, and they’re all wasting it.”
Compared to the movie, these people were more interested in breaking a gossip story.
As soon as the movie ended, Lin Sifei took Luo Ke’s arm and headed backstage, while bodyguards blocked the reporters who were rushing forward.
Once backstage, Lin Sifei let go of her hand. “You go back alone. The reporters will definitely swarm me. It’s not safe for you to be with me.”
“It’s even less safe for you to be alone.” Luo Ke grabbed her hand. “Besides, they definitely won’t let me off the hook either.”
Lin Sifei tilted her head back helplessly, bumped her forehead against Luo Ke’s, and said with a smile, “Alright then.”
Compared to the thrilling great escape the two of them were plotting, Li Tao’s plan was much more thorough. In the end, he had two outfits sent over, and they disguised themselves to leave with the rest of the film crew.
Due to the urgency of the situation and to prevent any further incidents, Li Tao negotiated with the crew for a long time. They decided Lin Sifei would not participate in the upcoming promotional activities for the time being.
The management company’s official reason was that Lin Sifei was feeling unwell. Lin Sifei, who was sitting comfortably in her hotel room eating fruit, simply raised a hand and forwarded the post.
【Lin Sifei V: It’s not mainly physical discomfort, it’s psychological. Physically, I’m afraid of getting into a car crash while being chased by paparazzi. I cherish my life.】
This was tantamount to admitting she knew about the online storm, and soon people flooded in demanding an explanation.
The personality previously described as “frank” was now rephrased as “arrogant, conceited, and looking down on everyone.”
Lin Sifei didn’t care about others’ opinions of her, but she did care about her fans being besieged.
Seeing her fuming, Luo Ke reached out and took her tablet away. “Stop looking. We’re working on a response.”
“Both of these videos were clearly filmed when Yan Yafei was present. But dragging her into this now would be too obvious. At most, people will just say it’s a case of ‘dog bites dog, a mouthful of fur’.”4 Lin Sifei had no desire to be put in the same category as Yan Yafei.
Gongbi’s videos had indeed disrupted the rhythm Luo Ke had originally planned. She just couldn’t figure out why Gongbi hadn’t released the videos last time, even after being cornered, but had released them now.
“Could it be that Yan Yafei just gave him the videos?” Lin Sifei guessed.
“Unlikely. After Gongbi’s last flop, Yan Yafei wouldn’t trust him again. The videos must have been given to him before.”
Lin Sifei thought about the reports she had seen about Gongbi, and her expression turned a little grim. “Then he might have done it on purpose. He seems to particularly enjoy these kinds of reversals. It allows him to ride the wave of popularity for a long time, and he can build a victim persona, making others feel indebted to him and trust that he’ll make a comeback even after a flop.”
That was also why most of his fans hadn’t abandoned him last time; they all believed he would turn the tables against the odds.5
They were probably cheering ecstatically right now.
Lin Sifei helplessly crunched on an apple. “What about Bai Su? Have you contacted her? Isn’t Feng Xiao listening to her now?”
“I’ve contacted her. Feng Xiao’s side will probably issue a response soon. But what about the first video?”
Luo Ke pinched the bridge of her nose. “I’m looking for the dashcam footage, but it seems there’s no backup anymore. I don’t know if the parking garage still has any video records.”
Speaking of which, Lin Sifei played the video. “This is from a dashcam too, right? Based on the angle, it corresponds to the surveillance cameras in the parking garage at the time. Can we find out whose car it was?”
“I suspect it was Yuan Mo’s car,” Luo Ke said helplessly. “He lets his guard down around Yan Yafei. The recording has surely been deleted.”
“No.” Lin Sifei furrowed her brow and shook her head. “I remember when we ran into them, the direction and angle of their car shouldn’t have been from here.”
Luo Ke looked at her, puzzled.
Lin Sifei continued, “Although the angle feels similar, it’s not the same. It should be a bit more to the left.”
She was very certain. After years of filming and facing the camera, Lin Sifei knew exactly how every angle looked on screen. This one was slightly different.
Luo Ke immediately sat up straight. “I’ll have someone run a comparison and investigate the vehicles on the left.”
“But why didn’t she use Yuan Mo’s?” Lin Sifei was a little confused.
She soon found out why: Yuan Mo had come forward to prove his own innocence.
The recording on his dashcam was long gone, but he had the manufacturer inspect it, and no one had extracted the surveillance video.
The only other possibility was the dashcam from which Yan Yafei had extracted the video.
Time was of the essence. Bai Su’s side called to ask if they should clarify the matter with Feng Xiao first.
“No. Feng Xiao has been shelved for a long time. Gongbi is an industry insider; he can fabricate countless lies, claiming Feng Xiao was forced. The clarification will only be powerful if it’s done all at once.”
Although it felt frantic, only an hour had passed.
Feng Xiao sent Lin Sifei a video and a simple “I’m sorry.”
Only then did Lin Sifei realize she hadn’t deleted Feng Xiao’s contact yet.
She opened the video. It was a clarification video Feng Xiao had filmed abroad. She stated that she had already retired from acting and directly confessed to slandering Lin Sifei back then, naming the other mastermind: Yan Yafei.
【Feng Xiao: You have a good relationship with Feng Tingyun. The water army back then was his. Go ask him if he’s willing to help.】
Lin Sifei replied with a “Received” but did not accept her apology.
She sent a message to Lu Heng, beating around the bush to ask how his relationship with Feng Tingyun was.
Lu Heng had been following the industry news. The moment she asked, he knew it was about Feng Tingyun’s studio and told her they could expose a batch of the accounts.
Not all of them, but having Feng Tingyun himself admit to a small batch of accounts was proof enough.
All that was left was the parking garage’s dashcam footage.
However, just as Luo Ke received a call saying the video had been found, the PR team also called Lin Sifei.
“He Li is calling out Gongbi.”
One sentence, but the amount of information was immense.
Lin Sifei quickly switched to Weibo to check. He Li had posted a long article, exposing Gongbi for hiring him as a ghostwriter and revealing that Gongbi himself had mediocre talent and relied entirely on his team for marketing.
He also stated that he had left the film and television screenwriting circle precisely because he no longer wanted to be oppressed by Gongbi.
Soon, someone revealed that he was the screenwriter for a recently popular drama. Others analyzed the plots, noting that the style of plot twists and the choice of words were very similar to Gongbi’s previous scripts.
Not to mention, He Li had released a pile of chat logs and file transfer records.
This time, there was no chance for Gongbi to make a comeback. The talent he was most proud of had been shattered.
Gongbi never expected He Li to backstab him. He trembled with rage and started to face off with him online.6
He was already finished, so he might as well drag someone else down with him.
He directly released his previous chat logs with Yan Yafei, stating bluntly that she had provided all the material and also mentioned that He Li and Yan Yafei were dating.
This set off another explosion. Yan Yafei, who was currently riding the popularity of her new drama, was instantly pushed into the eye of the storm.
Netizens: My melon dropped.jpg.
In her company office, Yan Yafei was so angry she could have ground her teeth to dust. Seeing He Li’s name on her phone screen, she was overcome with fury. She answered the call and immediately let loose a torrent of abuse.
“Are you insane?! Why did you have to provoke Gongbi! Lin Sifei was about to be crushed, and then you show up and stab me in the back! If you’ve got a problem with your brain, can you not drag me down with you?!”
He Li was stunned for a moment, then comforted her in a placating tone. “I know you definitely didn’t do it. Those chat logs must be fake. No one believes him right now.”
Hearing this, Yan Yafei’s eyes shifted, and she softly hummed in agreement.
He Li breathed a sigh of relief and immediately went back to facing off with Gongbi, claiming his chat logs were forged.
Netizens: Oh~ so the couple part is real, then. Melon-eating.jpg.
Just as He Li was tearing his hair out with worry, Feng Xiao posted on Weibo, also throwing out two screenshots of chat logs.
They showed her and Yan Yafei talking about Lin Sifei. Yan Yafei was very clever, listening to Feng Xiao’s complaints the whole time and offering a few words of comfort here and there, but never saying a single bad thing herself. She also included a few of Yan Yafei’s Moments posts to prove the account owner’s identity.
【Feng Xiao V: No other meaning, just wanted to say that the ‘bullying a newcomer’ thing was fake. It’s true that I disliked Lin Sifei first. Also, just proving that this account is indeed Yan Yafei’s. She’s been paying attention to Lin Sifei for more than a day or two, everyone in the industry knows.】
Well now, another industry insider had entered the fray.
He Li’s rebuttal seemed pale and weak. Everyone’s attention shifted to the love-hate drama between Yan Yafei and Lin Sifei.
The old drama between the two “Feifeis” was dug up again for public ridicule, along with her passive-aggressive behavior towards her ‘jiejie’ on the variety show.
Lin Sifei joined in on the melon-eating,7 her head spinning from all the developments.
“Has it been this turbulent in places I didn’t even know about?” She hadn’t even finished this mouthful of melon yet.
And Yan Yafei’s side delivered another huge one.
He Li wasn’t Yan Yafei’s boyfriend at all, but a stalker. She released a large number of photos, along with testimony from her assistant and staff.
For example, WeChat chats where Yan Yafei angrily told He Li to stop harassing her, photos of He Li staring at pictures of Yan Yafei during filming, and He Li constantly loitering downstairs at her company building, and so on.
Yan Yafei’s studio’s Weibo post was written in a tearful tone, stating how much they had trusted He Li before, only to find out he was a stalker after he exposed himself. He had even claimed to be Yan Yafei’s boyfriend to the public.
As for the videos and records Gongbi mentioned, the studio stated that Yan Yafei knew nothing about them; her old account had been hacked, and she had switched to a new one long ago. They also provided Yan Yafei’s new account handle.
Netizens: I’m stuffed, please release the melons slower!
【I thought I was just eating one piece of melon, but it turns out I’m in front of a whole melon patch.】
【I have an exam tomorrow, but I’m still here eating melons. I’m dead.】
【I don’t dare to pick a side anymore [eating melon.jpg]】
Even Lin Sifei was clicking her tongue in amazement. Yan Yafei was ruthless. When exactly had she started plotting against He Li? He Li hadn’t treated her badly, yet in the end, he was nothing more than a stepping stone.
And she even called him a stalker. Wasn’t that ruining a person’s life?
Although netizens were busy eating melons, a group of people online started viciously cursing He Li, and the topic began to escalate to celebrity harassment, women’s personal safety, gender issues, and so on.
“Is our video useless now?”
Yes, the parking garage video had been found. It turned out that Yan Yafei had lied about losing something and asked to borrow the video to check.
Although the car owner had kindly agreed, he had been cautious and kept a backup copy.
Luo Ke stroked her hair. “Don’t worry, it’s not over yet.”
Lin Sifei nodded and leaned back on the sofa, thinking for a moment. “Since Feng Xiao has already come forward, why don’t we just start from her side?”
Luo Ke pondered for a moment, then nodded.
Soon, Feng Xiao, having received instructions, posted her video, apologizing to Lin Sifei. Then she proceeded to diss Yan Yafei, revealing their entire scheme from back then.
Netizens: This melon isn’t finished yet? Shocked!
The melon-eating masses were the most enthusiastic. They immediately swarmed Feng Xiao’s Weibo. Learning that she had retired and was apologizing for her past jealousy, they were filled with emotion.
Yan Yafei’s fans exploded. They staunchly denied it, claiming Feng Xiao was framing her—that she was jealous of Lin Sifei before and was now jealous of Yan Yafei, and had always been a malicious woman.
【Feng Xiao V: Your Feifei’s meticulous plan had one oversight.8 She thought she was safe after hooking up with Feng Tingyun, but instead, she gave him leverage over her.】
Another person dragged into it! Netizens swarmed over to Feng Tingyun’s Weibo, demanding to know about his relationship with Yan Yafei.
【Last time you said you loved Lu Heng, you scumbag! You played with my feelings!】
【Get lost, person above! The CP I ship is definitely real! Yun-Lu CP is real!】
In between, Feng Tingyun’s fans were crying their hearts out.
【Saw a house collapsing over there and went to watch the fun, only to find out it was my own house collapsing. The tears just started flowing.jpg.】
Feng Tingyun’s side had already been briefed. However, to maintain authenticity, they waited for public opinion to ferment for a while before releasing their evidence.
The Weibo post was very official. One part said that he had initially thought Yan Yafei was a hardworking newcomer and had temporarily lent her a batch of studio accounts for anti-slander purposes. He never expected her to use them to slander others, and even slander his own white moonlight9 (Lu Heng). So, he had urgently put a stop to it and cut off all contact with Yan Yafei.
The evidence was chat logs and a list of some of the studio’s accounts.
Everyone knew celebrities used water armies. Seeing that these accounts only posted promotional material for dramas and hadn’t actually slandered anyone, fans of Lin Sifei and Lu Heng checked and really found screenshots of them being slandered back then, and the accounts matched.
【No wonder he can’t win over Lu Heng】
【No wonder he can’t win over Lu Heng】
【No wonder he can’t win over Lu Heng】
【The essence of humanity is—】
Now, Yan Yafei’s image was beyond saving. Everyone knew she had slandered Lin Sifei.
Yan Yafei’s side could no longer hide. They could only come out and apologize, saying that she had just started acting at the time, was being compared to others, and with Feng Xiao constantly badmouthing Lin Sifei, she truly believed Lin Sifei was a bad person and wanted to expose her true colors. Now she knew she was wrong, etc., etc.
With conclusive evidence, Yan Yafei performed a slide-kneel.11 Her fans’ narrative shifted accordingly, and they began to whitewash her as having a pure heart, being simply deceived, and that the root of all problems was still Feng Xiao.
With her reputation damaged, Yan Yafei wasn’t going to sit back and do nothing.
However, just as her side was preparing to start a new marketing campaign, a reporter photographed He Li showing up at her company, demanding to speak to Yan Yafei to clear things up.
Because of this whole melon, reporters were staking out all their companies. The moment he appeared, they immediately started taking pictures and swarming him for an interview.
He Li still had feelings for Yan Yafei and refused to say anything, only that he wanted to see her.
Yan Yafei’s manager was terrified. They were at a critical juncture; if their lies were exposed now, it would be completely over.
He had security drive the man away and discussed a new plan with Yan Yafei.
“There’s no other way. We have to reveal your family background now. Mixed-race, heir to a large inheritance, and a tragic childhood—it will definitely divert everyone’s attention.”
Yan Yafei listened to the plan, took a deep breath, and nodded.
Her fingers trembled slightly. Luckily, luckily she hadn’t played this trump card before.
Soon, marketing accounts began to reveal Yan Yafei’s life story. It had to be said, the studio spent a huge sum this time. The press release was written to be both tragic and beautiful: a mixed-race countess, lost to the world, who experienced immense suffering in her childhood but persevered, finally making a name for herself, and her brother from abroad who crossed oceans to reunite with her.
Lin Sifei finished reading it and couldn’t help but praise the writer’s skill. Suppress first, then praise,12 the protagonist of a wish-fulfillment story,13 with a grand reunion at the end.
“But is no one going to complain about this mixed-race persona? It’s so Mary Sue.”14
Luo Ke turned her head and leaned over curiously. “What’s a Mary Sue?”
Oh, right. In a Mary Sue’s world, there would be no Mary Sues. People genuinely found this kind of persona incredibly appealing.
Lin Sifei casually refreshed the webpage. Whether it was the influence of the story or people’s genuine feelings, quite a few had actually started to shift to Yan Yafei’s side.
“Umm… should we release more material?”
Luo Ke nodded and had her people continue releasing material.
And so, the netizens who thought they had finally finished eating melons crawled back up: I can still eat more!
Luo Ke first released the footage from the variety show where Yan Yafei pushed Lin Sifei into the water, having marketing accounts spin the narrative that it was attempted murder, not just being deceived into exposing someone’s ‘true colors’ as Yan Yafei claimed. She truly wanted to harm her.
But the variety show footage was rather dark and didn’t fully capture Yan Yafei’s actions. Fans began to frantically whitewash it, and started to paint everything that had happened before as someone deliberately slandering her.
Yan Yafei’s side had deployed a lot of water army accounts, all claiming someone was out to get her.
Just as the situation was about to be brought under control, Yuan Mo arrived fashionably late, forwarding a marketing account’s post.
【Yuan Mo: Congratulations to Yan Yafei for finding her biological brother. Just please stop randomly claiming other brothers. You claim a bunch of brothers but refuse to just be a little sister. We’ll settle the score for the cat abuse slowly.】
The words “cat abuse” shocked everyone.
If it were about hitting or killing a person, some would argue to look at the context, that perhaps there was some reason. Especially since Yan Yafei had always presented a weak and cute image, some would even say she must have been severely bullied to have to fight back.
Just like with Lin Sifei, some would say Lin Sifei bullied Yan Yafei first, and that’s why she reacted emotionally.
Because no matter how you looked at it, the one who was in a relationship with Luo Ke didn’t seem like the weaker party. People subconsciously sympathize with the weak, especially when that weak party is a cat that doesn’t possess human thought.
Abusing a cat was pure evil, because a cat is absolutely vulnerable and cannot communicate. Cats are also incredibly cute, making one’s heart soften at a glance.
Soon, Yuan Mo released Shuaishuai’s medical records and pictures from his several treatments, including photos of his shaved fur for applying medicine, which clearly showed the abuse on his body.
【Yuan Mo: This was long-term cat abuse. If Shuaishuai hadn’t fought for his life at the end, he would be dead by now.】
A video was released, showing Yan Yafei threatening Shuaishuai, and hitting Shuaishuai.
The evidence was irrefutable.
【Lin Sifei V: Why have I never liked Yan Yafei? Because she abused a cat, and it was my cat. It wasn’t her first offense; she tried to feed a cat chocolate before. She was fired for this reason. With such a malicious heart, who knows if she’ll kill someone next time. She despises me and Luo Ke because we fired her, and just for that, I was pushed into the water.】
Lin Sifei also released the video of Yan Yafei pulling the cat’s tail, the naked malice radiating through the screen.
This time, there was finally no room for excuses. She abused a cat, pushed someone into a river in retaliation for being fired, and continuously abused another cat.
At the same time, the theater where He Li worked also released surveillance footage, stating that Yan Yafei had been the one to approach He Li multiple times first. The so-called stalking was a lie. He Li was an upright person who had been deceived emotionally. This was, of course, at Luo Ke’s instruction. She provided an investment and had them release it last, so it wouldn’t attract a siege from Yan Yafei’s fans.
Feng Xiao came out at the opportune moment. 【I told you this person was more venomous than me. The idea to take those photos back then was hers. If you want to believe she’s innocent, go ahead.】
Yan Yafei’s fingers trembled, and she violently threw her phone to the ground.
The phone screen shattered on impact.
Hearing the noise, the door to the room was pushed open, and her manager stood frozen at the entrance.
The phone on the floor lit up, its ringtone sounding.
Furious, Yan Yafei went up and stomped on the screen again and again, each stomp using all her strength.
The heel of her high heel soon completely destroyed the phone, and everything fell silent.
Yan Yafei sat down on the sofa, defeated. She looked at the mess on the floor and covered her face.
It’s all because of Lin Sifei, it’s all her, all her, all her!
“Feifei,” Erik’s voice sounded, a little breathless, as if he had run over.
Yan Yafei’s eyes shifted. She looked up, tears streaming down her face.
A pain shot through Erik’s heart. He walked over quickly and knelt before her on one knee. “It’s okay, I believe you. If worst comes to worst, we won’t stay here. I’ll take you away, to my country. You will be a countess, you will have so much more.”
Yan Yafei threw herself into his arms, a flicker in her eyes.
Her decision to abandon He Li and choose Erik was the right one. At least Erik had enough financial power to take her away.
Speaking of which, she remembered Erik had said he would acquire a company and come here to help her. But this time, she had lost so miserably, a large part of it because she didn’t have Luo Ke’s financial resources and network.
“You didn’t acquire the company?” Yan Yafei resented him a little, but her voice was full of concern. “If we go back, what about your business here?”
At the mention of this, Erik got a little angry. “Someone deliberately caused trouble. There was a small problem with the funding.”
He thought of that silver-haired woman, grinding his teeth in anger. He couldn’t afford to offend her faction either.
“Let’s go. Pack your bags. We’ve bought tickets for tomorrow morning.”
After a full day of online battles, she was exhausted. The sun had long set, and only then did she realize she hadn’t eaten.
Erik gave her a gentle smile. “Come, I’ll take you to eat your favorite abalone.”
“Okay,” Yan Yafei smiled shyly, but secretly clenched her fists. Now, he was the only person she had left to rely on.
She looked at Erik’s back, her mind racing. Soon she would be going abroad. Once she was in Erik’s sphere of influence, no one could do anything to her.
She smiled and acted coquettishly with Erik, bought a new phone, and contacted a certain number, sending a message.
【No problem.】
Seeing the message, Yan Yafei smiled and put the phone back in her bag.
…
After dealing with Yan Yafei, Lin Sifei suddenly felt a sense of relief, as if a heavy burden had been lifted from her shoulders.
She blinked and collapsed onto Luo Ke. “I should have dealt with her sooner.”
Luo Ke served her food; the table was filled with her favorite dishes. “Eat first. Stop paying attention to it. Someone is keeping an eye on things.”
“Mhm.” Lin Sifei opened her mouth wide. “Feed me.”
Luo Ke smiled and actually picked up her chopsticks to feed her. “Is it good?”
Lin Sifei nodded vigorously.
She licked the soup from the corner of her lips. “The movie is officially released tomorrow. We should get ready to go back too. The horror film hasn’t wrapped up yet.”
“Alright.” Luo Ke thought for a moment. “By the way, have you been keeping track of the time you spend as a cat recently? Has it shortened?”
“Ah? I haven’t been counting. The time is short now, so I just transform whenever to accumulate duration.”
Luo Ke nodded. “Then let’s try again in a couple of days.”
“Okay.” Lin Sifei picked up a spoon and served some soup for Luo Ke.
Luo Ke ate it with a smile and grinned at her. “Also, don’t forget your proposal.”
Lin Sifei rolled her eyes. “Don’t worry, I definitely won’t forget. You just wait. I guarantee I’ll give you a shock.”
“Okay, I’ll be waiting.”
The next morning, while Luo Ke was still asleep, she received a message that the company had been attacked again. This time the attack was unsuccessful, but several secretaries’ phones had been hacked.
Fortunately, there were no important documents inside.
Lin Sifei was woken by the phone. After waiting a while for Luo Ke to come back to bed, she sat up, rubbing her eyes. “What’s wrong?”
“The company’s system was hacked again.”
Lin Sifei was instantly awake. “Should we contact that K from last time again?”
Luo Ke nodded and got up to get dressed. “I’m taking your phone. You use mine. I’ll contact him and try to arrange a meeting to have him look at the system.”
Lin Sifei hugged the quilt, watching her. “Are you going over there?”
“Mhm, it’s a bit chaotic over there. I’ll go to calm everyone down. It’s close to the base here. You go home first.” She leaned over and kissed Lin Sifei’s forehead, her movements a bit rushed.
Lin Sifei smiled and nodded. “Okay, I’ll wait for you at home.”
Luo Ke smiled, quickly washed up, and left.
Lin Sifei dawdled for a while, had breakfast, and then went downstairs. The driver was still Li Jing.
She greeted Li Jing and got into the back seat.
The car started slowly. Neither of them noticed a man with binoculars on a tall building not far behind them, who typed a “1” on his phone.
“Li Jing, it’s been tough on you lately, running around all the time.”
“It’s my duty. I’m a bodyguard, after all.” Li Jing was much more familiar with Lin Sifei now, and a hint of a smile appeared on her face.
As they were chatting and laughing, Li Jing suddenly looked in the rearview mirror. “Someone’s tailing us. Hold on tight.”
The moment she finished speaking, she slammed her foot on the gas, and the car shot forward.
The car behind them followed closely. After several overtakes, Li Jing finally managed to shake them off.
She was just catching her breath when a truck suddenly came from the side, crashing straight into the car’s body.
“Cover your head!”
Lin Sifei covered her head with her hands as a sharp pain washed over her.
After the world spun violently, everything fell silent. She struggled to open her eyes. Her vision was blurred by something, and thick blood dripped from her eyelashes.
She saw the person in the front seat. Li Jing’s head was hanging down, covered in blood.
Lin Sifei reached out, trying to touch the phone beside her, but the phone, so close, felt so far away. She couldn’t even lift a finger.
Darkness gradually encroached upon her. Her hand twitched slightly, and a drop of blood slid down her fingertip.
…
“The system repair is going very well. K should be able to come over tomorrow. You can exchange some experience with him.”
After handling matters at the base, Luo Ke took a deep breath and stood by the window for some fresh air. The wind blew the stray hairs on her forehead, making it itch, just like when Lin Sifei would playfully tease her.
Thinking of Lin Sifei, a smile involuntarily touched her lips.
The phone in her bag rang. She saw the caller ID: 【The Beautiful President Luo】.
She couldn’t help but laugh. Xiao Xiao actually saved her contact as this.
She answered the phone with a smile. “Hello, Xiao Xiao.”
“Hello, is this Lin Sifei’s family? Right now…”
The voice faded away. Luo Ke was like a block of wood, unable to think, unable to move.
Zhao Min came over with a document. “President Luo!”
The sounds returned. Luo Ke suddenly pushed her aside and ran out.
Zhao Min was bewildered. “President Luo?” She quickly chased after her.
Luo Ke rushed downstairs, frantically grabbing her hair.
“President Luo, what are you doing?”
“The hospital, go to the hospital! Where’s the car?!” she roared.
Zhao Min realized her emotional state was off and quickly called for a car. “President Luo, calm down. Which hospital are you going to?”
Luo Ke mumbled the name of the hospital.
The car arrived quickly, and Zhao Min got in with her.
Seeing Luo Ke’s condition, Zhao Min didn’t dare to ask any more questions. She took out her phone to check the news and immediately saw a push notification.
【Lin Sifei in car crash while evading paparazzi…】
Zhao Min’s breath hitched, and she stared blankly at Luo Ke.
She patted the seat. “Drive faster.”
Soon, the car arrived at the hospital, and Luo Ke rushed inside. Zhao Min had already arranged everything and led Luo Ke to the area outside the operating room.
As soon as they arrived, a nurse thrust a pen and paper at her. “Sign this.”
Luo Ke didn’t know what was in her hands. She only glanced at the words “Notification Form.” She didn’t have the courage to read what came before it and scribbled her name.
The nurse was about to leave with it, but Luo Ke grabbed her wrist, looking at her with an almost pleading expression. “Save her.”
“We will do our best.”
The nurse pulled her hand away and hurried off.
Zhao Min helped her sit down and opened a bottle of water for her.
Luo Ke didn’t take it, covering her face and remaining motionless.
Zhao Min didn’t know what to say and just held the water, also unmoving.
Suddenly, Luo Ke opened her eyes. “Give me the phone.”
Zhao Min handed it over. Luo Ke took the phone, as if the wooden person from a moment ago wasn’t her. She quickly pressed the keys and dialed a number.
“Something happened to Xiao Xiao. Something happened to Li Jing too. It must be Yan Yafei. Detain her.”
She didn’t know what was said on the other end, but the call ended quickly.
Luo Ke turned back into a wooden statue, as if the fire that had just ignited was merely a final flicker of life.
Zhao Min was a little scared and started messaging Special Assistant Lin, asking him to handle company affairs.
…
At the international airport, Yan Yafei was waiting to board, wearing sunglasses and a mask.
Erik was smiling and talking to her about the rose garden over there, making her feel a little wistful for it.
As she was smiling, a figure suddenly bumped into her heavily.
Yan Yafei felt a sharp pain in her side, cried out, and fell, unable to get up from the ground.
Erik quickly reached out to help her, but the person threw a punch at him, hitting him so hard he almost passed out.
Yan Yafei screamed for security, but the person before her was faster, stepping on her ankle and twisting it hard.
“Ah—!”
Soon, security guards rushed over.
But another group of people arrived first, pouncing to grab the man.
“Make way, make way! Our young master is having a psychiatric episode! We’ll restrain him, you call an ambulance!”
This group of burly men started wrestling on the spot, trying to subdue the “psychiatric patient.” However, only Yan Yafei, at the center of it all, knew that every single move was aimed at her.
Soon, she lost the strength to scream and lay motionless on the ground.
She felt like she was about to die, but she didn’t. An ambulance arrived quickly and took her to the hospital.
Yan Yafei smiled. She had survived a great disaster, so surely there would be good fortune to follow…
One of the men in black from before leaned over and sneered, “Trying to flee the country? Dream on.”
Yan Yafei screamed, but it was all in vain.
…
Luo Ke waited outside, looking at that door again and again, and was disappointed again and again.
She was freezing all over, as if the rainy night from so many years ago was happening all over again.
She heard the sound of rain, smelled the scent of blood.
She was going to lose Xiao Xiao.
Luo Ke was so terrified she was about to go mad. Heaven couldn’t take away the person she loved most in the same way twice.
Finally, the door opened. A doctor walked out, smiling as he took off his mask. “She’s out of danger.”
She looked at the hospital bed being pushed out, her lips slightly parted, but in the end, she couldn’t say a word.
The evidence of Yan Yafei’s attempted murder wasn’t hard to find. Her work had been sloppy.
Luo Ke didn’t mind making her stay inside a little more comfortable and put in some effort.
Li Jing woke up and high-fived her colleague. It turned out that she had turned the steering wheel that day, taking a gamble, and she had won.
Luo Ke sat by Lin Sifei’s hospital bed, looking at the sleeping person. “You still owe me a proposal.”
“I haven’t forgotten,” a low, hoarse voice sounded.
Luo Ke’s head shot up to see Lin Sifei giving her a smile.
Luo Ke smiled back, tears streaming down her face.
Lin Sifei watched her with a smile. “Let’s get married.”
