Do You Want to Get Married?

The countdown to the finale continues.

He Li pressed his hand on his phone screen, took a deep breath, and answered the call.

Gongbi’s arrogant voice rang out. “He Li, you’re writing scripts again? Heh heh, I told you you’d definitely be back.”

He Li’s grip on the phone tightened slightly. “I’m only writing this one script. I won’t write any more after this.”

“Why? You have the talent, why waste it?” Gongbi’s words sounded like a friend’s earnest advice, but He Li knew his true intentions all too well.

He sneered inwardly, understanding that without him to polish the scripts, Gongbi’s work had plummeted in quality.

But he didn’t dare to have a complete falling out with Gongbi. Back then, to stop being a ghostwriter in the shadows, he had even been willing to quit the industry.

Gongbi sighed. “I tried so hard to get you to stay when you wanted to quit. Now that you’re back, we can be just like before. I won’t short you on the money, either.”

It was a blatant, naked humiliation. He Li nearly bit his lower lip raw.

“I’m only writing this one time. I won’t be writing any more film or television scripts after this.”

Being rejected time and again, Gongbi’s temper flared.

“So I can’t persuade you, is that it? The only reason you came back this time was for that little girlfriend of yours. Fine, for the next drama, I’ll just cast her.”

Gongbi’s disdainful tone thoroughly enraged He Li. “Feifei isn’t that kind of person!”

“Isn’t she?” Gongbi sneered. “Who’s the reason my reputation is tanking right now? It’s because the intel she gave me last time was all fake. She’s quite the schemer, using me as a gun for hire.”

He got angry just thinking about it, but as long as He Li came back, his scripts could shine brilliantly once more.

“Although I’m angry, if you’re willing to come back, I can let it go.”

    “You’re threatening me!”

“Don’t make it sound so ugly,” Gongbi said in a low voice. “You’d better think this through.”

The call suddenly disconnected. He Li stared at the dark screen, grinding his teeth in fury. He would not go back to being a ghostwriter. As for Gongbi’s threats, he was a man; even if it cost him his own reputation, he would protect Feifei.

His mind made up, he stood and went to find the backups he had kept for many years.

Although this horror film wasn’t a small-budget production, this type of movie relied mainly on post-production to build atmosphere. Plus, since no one was a rookie, the filming progressed quite quickly.

The crew also went from being afraid of Luo Ke at the beginning to gradually figuring things out. For instance, they learned not to hang around Lin Sifei, giving the two of them a dedicated space for couples.

As a result, a sort of vacuum often formed around Lin Sifei and Luo Ke.

Lin Sifei, that salted fish, was immersed in Luo Ke’s tender affections and didn’t find it the least bit awkward. She snuggled up with Luo Ke to take a selfie.

“Luo Ke, move a little closer this way.”

Following her gesture, Luo Ke pressed her face closer to hers.

Lin Sifei’s body heat transferred over, scorching its way into her heart.

Luo Ke couldn’t help but turn her head slightly to look at her. With a click, the photo was taken, perfectly capturing the deeply affectionate way Luo Ke was gazing at her.

When Lin Sifei saw the photo, her face flushed red, and she glanced at Luo Ke. “Why were you looking at me?”

Luo Ke raised a hand to wrap around her waist. “Because I like you.”

Lin Sifei’s face grew warmer. She peeked around and, seeing that no one was looking, curled her lips into a smile and planted a kiss on Luo Ke’s cheek.

It was just a light kiss, yet it made both of them blush.

Luo Ke hooked her little finger. “Don’t read horror novels tonight. Spend some time with me.”

“O-Okay.” This ‘spending time’ was obviously not so simple. Lin Sifei knew perfectly well, and the look she gave Luo Ke was filled with heat.

Just as the two were wrapped up in their tender feelings, Wang Zhixin’s loud shout brought them back to their senses.

    “We’re rolling!”

Startled, Lin Sifei shot to her feet and looked at Luo Ke with a serious expression. “I’m going to shoot my scene then.”

Luo Ke also nodded with a cool expression, giving no hint of what the two had just been talking about.

This scene was a solo one for Lin Sifei. The female lead, separated from her teammates, was walking alone in a corridor, so scared that tears were streaming down her face.

Seeing her despairing eyes, Luo Ke couldn’t stop herself from taking a step forward.

Fortunately, Liu Zheng saw her and quickly waved the script in front of her eyes.

Luo Ke came back to her senses and helplessly pressed her brow. As expected, she couldn’t meet Lin Sifei’s gaze. Her eyes were too expressive; one look was enough to make you forget you were on a film set and worry for her instead.

Unsurprisingly, it was a wrap in one take.

Lin Sifei ran over to Luo Ke and laughingly linked her arm. “What? Did I pull you into the scene just now?”

“I was worried about you.” Luo Ke stroked her hair.

Lin Sifei chuckled and rubbed against her. “Don’t worry, we have firm faith in socialism. None of that stuff is real.”

Luo Ke burst out laughing and pinched her cheek.

With most of the movie filmed, the remaining workload wasn’t too heavy. Lin Sifei informed Wang Zhixin, then openly and honorably took Luo Ke and left early.

She needed to go back and make up for the “lessons” she had missed recently from reading horror novels, lest she get out of practice.

The coursework was heavy, leaving them both breathless and panting.

“Luo… Luo Ke, I want some water.”

    “Mm.”

A little while later, Luo Ke picked up the cup from the bedside table and handed it to her.

Watching Lin Sifei glug glug glug down the water, she smiled and kissed her on the cheek.

Lin Sifei shrank back a little and grabbed at her waist.

Luo Ke laughed and held her hand, not letting her pull away. “You still have a lot of energy, I see.”

Lin Sifei’s face turned red. She pulled the blanket over her face. “No, I’m dead tired.”

Luo Ke lay down beside her, slipping under the covers to hug her waist. “Then you should exercise more.”

She reached out to touch Lin Sifei’s waist. That was where she was ticklish, and she immediately dissolved into laughter, squirming. “Ah, stop it! I’m really tired!”

Luo Ke hugged her tighter and gave her another kiss before finally letting her go.

In the midst of their fooling around, a knock suddenly came from the hotel room door.

Lin Sifei and Luo Ke exchanged a look, then sat up together, got dressed, and opened the door.

Bai Su was standing at the door with a smile.

Lin Sifei pressed her lips together, clearly not intending to invite her in.

“Senior Bai Su, is there something you need?”

“Yes.” She paused, her eyes sweeping over Luo Ke. “Is it convenient to talk inside? It’s about Yan Yafei.”

Luo Ke thought for a moment, then put an arm around Lin Sifei’s waist and stepped aside.

Bai Su smiled as she entered and closed the door.

She made herself at home on the sofa, placing her bag on her lap.1 “I won’t disturb your private time. I’ll make this quick.”

“I heard that the Luo Corporation is preparing to make a move against Yan Yafei. I was wondering if I could serve as the vanguard pawn in this?”2

Luo Ke ignored her question. “Where did you get this information?”

“My husband has some business dealings with Luo Corporation, after all. He’s quite perceptive. The moment you all made a move, he naturally noticed something.” This reason was quite safe and believable, because Luo Ke had indeed been sending signals throughout the entire business world.

Those who received the signals would naturally not dare to sign any real contracts with Yan Yafei.

Luo Ke sat opposite her. “What can you bring to the table?”

“Oh, quite a lot.” Bai Su smiled, covering her lips. “Things from within the company, and the matter with Feng Xiao. While one or two things might not seem like much, when combined with what you have, the effect will likely be a hundred times greater.”

“You acting as a pawn is useless,” Luo Ke refused directly. “It makes no difference whether you’re involved or not. However, if you can’t stand her and absolutely must do something, I won’t say anything. But I advise you to wait until the very end. The effect might be better than you think.”

Bai Su smiled and stood up. “Then I hope President Luo will inform me when it’s over, so I don’t ruin President Luo’s plans.”

    “Alright.”

With that assurance, Bai Su took her leave. It seemed she hadn’t intended to cooperate seriously in the first place, but had just come to get a confirmation from Luo Ke.

Lin Sifei sat down next to Luo Ke. “You have everything ready?”

“Mhm. Once Yan Yafei’s drama finishes airing and she’s made her money from this wave, I can begin.”

Lin Sifei nodded. “Just right. We can take it slow. I see that Migration is about to be released too. There will probably be preview screenings. We can go see it together then.”

    “Okay.”

As a sci-fi film, Migration required a longer post-production time. But similarly, Director Luo was not short on money, and the post-production team was top-tier, so it was still fine.

Migration‘s premiere was at a foreign film festival. Director Luo had rushed to finish the movie specifically for this award.

Living up to expectations, Migration swept up a large number of awards, becoming a hit before it was even released. Lin Sifei was once again brought into the public eye, this time through the movie’s trailer. It was full of futuristic tech, and combined with Lin Sifei’s sharp, ear-length bob, it gave her a unique appeal.

Many people were looking forward to this sci-fi film, and by extension, that horror film as well.

Wang Zhixin was thrilled again. He was riding on Director Luo’s coattails!

The young director who was eager to become famous generously approved interviews with multiple reporters, with the only condition being that they mention his film a little.

Lin Sifei had no choice but to start accepting interviews again, switching into business mode.

When asked about her relationship with Lang Jingju, Lin Sifei’s eyes instantly widened. She pulled Luo Ke, who was beside her, into the camera’s view. “This right here is my attitude.”

And so, the reporter met President Luo’s death glare. R.I.P.

This interactive interview immediately shot to the top of the trending topics. Everyone exclaimed that President Luo’s gaze was too intimidating, truly befitting a domineering president.

Lin Sifei read the netizens’ comments and surreptitiously posted the selfie from before. Luo Ke’s lips were curled up slightly, her eyes curved as she looked at her.

【This has to be on purpose. Dog food!】3

    【Only gentle with you, kdlkdl】4

【I never knew you were this kind of Feifei. More, please!】

【I knew it. Today’s trending topic was just a trap to lure us dogs in and slaughter us.】

Lin Sifei laughed out loud and collapsed into Luo Ke’s arms.

    “You’re bullying your fans again.”

“How is this bullying?” Lin Sifei pouted. “Look, look, they’re clearly the ones asking me to post more dog food.”

Luo Ke reached out and took her hand. “Then when do you plan on creating the biggest dog food of all?”

Lin Sifei looked at her hand. Their fingers were intertwined, their engagement rings pressed tightly together.

Her lips moved, and her eyes crinkled. “What? President Luo finally can’t hold back anymore?”

    “Can you?”

Lin Sifei puffed out her chest. “Of course. Marriage, to me, isn’t that important.”

Luo Ke’s expression darkened, and she let go of her hand. “That’s right. I know you have a reputation as a flirt and numerous fans. Marriage isn’t an important matter.”

Lin Sifei: …Crap. I’ve pissed her off.
