    The Terrifying President Luo

    Black aura~~~

“Pack up, pack up, we’re joining the crew.”

Luo Ke was recording with a camera. “This time, I’m really joining the crew with you.”

“Haha.” Lin Sifei laughed with particular arrogance. “Don’t worry, I can carry you!”

Lin Sifei placed the last small suitcase in the trunk and pulled open the car door.

“Get in, stop recording, or you’ll hit your head,” Lin Sifei pouted, placing her hand on the top of the doorframe and pulling Luo Ke in first.

Sure enough, Luo Ke bumped into her hand.

Luo Ke froze for a second, then looked up. “I actually hit it. I thought I’d bent down quite a lot.”

Lin Sifei sighed helplessly and got in after her, closing the door. “Honestly. I told you to stop recording.”

“Because I wanted to record the whole thing as a memento.”

Lin Sifei raised an eyebrow and pulled out a jar of rock sugar bayberries.1 “You record, then. I’m going to eat.”

“Don’t eat too many,” Luo Ke reminded her.

“I can’t help it.” Lin Sifei made a pained face and stuck out her tongue. “My tongue hurts a little, but they’re so good.”

Luo Ke reached out and pinched her cheeks, preventing her from closing her mouth, then leaned in to take a look with a frown.

“You’re getting little blisters on your tongue.”

“I knew it.” Lin Sifei bit down on a pit with a crunch.

Luo Ke reached over, put the lid on her snack jar, and snatched it away.

“Ah! Aren’t you filming a video? Don’t steal my bayberries!”

“You can’t have any more, or you’ll really hurt your tongue. You’ll be crying then.”

Lin Sifei threw herself onto her, her eyes fixed longingly on the jar in her hand. “Just one more!”

    “No.”

Lin Sifei clung to her, beginning to pester her shamelessly.

Luo Ke sighed helplessly, leaned over, and kissed her on the lips, the tip of her tongue licking over Lin Sifei’s.

Lin Sifei’s body trembled, and she stared at her, stunned.

Luo Ke pulled back, took out a tissue, and spat the pit into it.

“If you want to eat, kiss me instead.”

The tips of Lin Sifei’s ears turned slightly red as her eyes darted toward Li Jing, who was driving in the front.

Li Jing stared straight ahead, as if she hadn’t seen a thing.

Lin Sifei breathed a sigh of relief.

She shot Luo Ke a glare, but Luo Ke was completely unfazed.

When they arrived at the film set, Wang Zhixin and Liu Zheng came forward to shake their hands. After all, this was their investor and their lead actress.

Everything proceeded according to routine. After confirming the script that day, they could begin shooting.

Because it was a horror film, the main shooting location was a psychiatric hospital building. The crew had simply found an abandoned building, which was originally a factory’s employee dormitory. After the factory relocated, the building was deserted.

The crew gave it a simple coat of paint and tidied up the things inside, and it really started to have the right feel.

Lin Sifei and Luo Ke shared a makeup artist. Seeing the two of them, the makeup artist was very excited. “You’re even more beautiful up close. President Luo is in no way inferior to the female stars in the entertainment industry.”

“Of course! And Luo Ke has such a rare, excellent temperament.” Hearing her praise Luo Ke made Lin Sifei happier than if she had been praised herself. She looked at the makeup artist with great interest.

Once Lin Sifei’s makeup was done, she sat to the side, hovering around Luo Ke and joining the makeup artist in endlessly praising Luo Ke’s face.

They even found a tiny mole hidden in the tail of her eyebrow to praise.

Luo Ke finally couldn’t take it anymore and raised a hand, signaling for the two of them to offer their praise in moderation.

Lin Sifei burst out laughing. “But you really are that amazing.”

On set, Wang Zhixin looked at Luo Ke and explained the blocking to her, but he was still worried she wouldn’t understand.

Luo Ke demonstrated it for him on the spot, moving with a practiced ease as if she had rehearsed it beforehand.

Wang Zhixin was stunned for a moment, then quickly clapped his hands. “Very good, very good, just like that.”

Lin Sifei also looked at her with curiosity. “How did you know how to do that?”

“I learned from listening to you talk about it and watching you film.” Luo Ke’s lips curved into a slight smile. After all, she listened to Lin Sifei muttering her lines every night and watched her the next day. How could she not know?

“Well, since there are no problems, let’s start shooting.”

The movie was about a group of people breaking into a psychiatric hospital. The first scene they shot was an exploratory sequence from the early-to-mid part of the film, where the group walks forward holding onto a rope.

Luo Ke didn’t need to hold the rope; she just had to drift aimlessly behind Lin Sifei.

In the film, she was a “spirit from behind.” Lin Sifei couldn’t see her, and her job was to do her best to get Lin Sifei’s attention.

Wang Zhixin’s original instruction was to improvise; he had faith in Lin Sifei’s acting.

Luo Ke thought for a moment, then reached out and waved her hand in front of Lin Sifei’s eyes.

As expected, Lin Sifei acted as if she couldn’t see her at all, looking straight ahead and walking forward without hesitation.

Luo Ke moved to her side and leaned in to look at her.

Lin Sifei turned her head, her face only a finger’s width away from Luo Ke’s, before she nonchalantly turned back.

There was truly no recognition of her in Lin Sifei’s eyes.

Watching Lin Sifei, Luo Ke suddenly felt a surge of discomfort. She moved a little closer and, within the range the director had specified, did everything she could to attract her attention.

This included, but was not limited to, shaking the rope, tugging on her clothes, and blowing air into her ear.

“Aiyo, that was such good acting.” Wang Zhixin happily gave a thumbs-up. “For President Luo to be so successful in her first time filming, she has a real talent for it!”

However, the object of his praise, Luo Ke, merely stood to the side with a cold expression. She was still in her makeup—a pale, bluish complexion and white lips—which made her look quite frightening.

Wang Zhixin offered a couple more compliments before he was frozen into silence. He gave a strained laugh and looked to Lin Sifei for help.

Lin Sifei was passionately discussing the scene with several other actors. She always had this flaw—to put it nicely, she was fond of being a teacher,2 always wanting to pass on her experience.

Luo Ke stood not far away, watching her. After waiting a while and seeing no sign of her stopping, she walked over.

    “What are you talking about?”

Seeing Luo Ke, the other actors all respectfully greeted her as “President Luo.”

Luo Ke ignored them, her eyes fixed only on Lin Sifei.

Lin Sifei unconsciously linked her arm through Luo Ke’s and leaned against her. “I’m explaining the scene to them.”

“Why didn’t you call me over? I’m the one who should really be listening, since I have no experience at all.”

“You don’t need it. You filmed so well.” Lin Sifei, seeing her through rose-tinted glasses and adding in Luo Ke’s natural performance, sincerely believed Luo Ke was a heaven-sent genius who didn’t need to learn.

The corners of Luo Ke’s lips lifted slightly, and the temperature around her returned to normal. “But I want you to teach me.”

Her precious darling had spoken, so how could Lin Sifei refuse to teach her? She immediately abandoned her previous batch of students and pulled Luo Ke aside for one-on-one guidance.

Luo Ke smiled as she was led away, turning her head slightly to glance at the group of actors.

A shiver ran down each of their spines.

This is exhausting. We have to eat dog food and get threatened on top of it.

Lin Sifei genuinely didn’t think there was anything wrong with Luo Ke. After some thought, she just said, “For the next part, don’t stand so close to me. After all, you don’t actually not exist. I’m afraid I’ll bump into you when I move, and then that take would be ruined.”

“Okay.” Luo Ke smiled and nodded.

Lin Sifei held back for a moment, but couldn’t resist reaching out to pat Luo Ke on the head.

Luo Ke is so well-behaved today, so cute!

Luo Ke’s role as the spirit from behind didn’t have many scenes, and she barely appeared later on. When she wasn’t needed, she would sit on set, working on her laptop while watching Lin Sifei run around the building screaming, “Ahhh!”, and then run back screaming, “Ahhh!”

She smiled, propping her chin on her hand. She felt that this version of Xiao Xiao was a little cute.

    “Cut!”

After the director’s call, Lin Sifei immediately bent over, hands on her knees, gasping for breath. “Heavens, that was so tiring.”

Without even lifting her head, she held out a hand.

Luo Ke placed a water bottle in her hand and took a towel to wipe the sweat from her face.

“Rest for a bit.” Lin Sifei nodded.

The director called several actors over to give them a lecture. This scene involved many people and was a chase sequence, so it needed to convey a sense of chaotic escape.

But that was just the feeling; during filming, every actor had fixed blocking, and certain people were the focus of the scene. If one person took a wrong step, the whole thing would fall into disarray.

They had run through this scene several times, and none of them had been successful.

Luo Ke watched Lin Sifei panting in her chair and brushed the hair from her forehead. “I’ll go see what’s going on.”

Lin Sifei nodded and poked her. “Don’t you go intimidating them.”

Having been together for so long, she knew exactly what kind of person Luo Ke was. This was completely something she was capable of doing.

Luo Ke nodded, put down the towel, and walked up behind the director.

When the group of actors saw her, terrified expressions appeared on their faces.

“Hey, yes, yes, that’s the expression! This one is the most natural.” Wang Zhixin, completely unaware of the person behind him, was still marveling at the group’s skyrocketing acting skills.

“Director Wang, why don’t we have them run through it a few more times individually? Once they’ve memorized the path, they won’t make mistakes.”

Wang Zhixin jumped in fright. He turned his head and saw her, then said with a smile, “That’s one way to do it.”

The actors grew even more terrified. They pushed and shoved one another until one person was finally pushed forward.

“I think we can get it in one take this time. Director Wang, please give us another chance.”

Wang Zhixin was a soft-hearted person. Seeing them like this, he nodded. “Then take a short break, review your blocking, and let’s aim to get it this time.”

After a twenty-minute break, Lin Sifei stood up again and walked to the center of the main hall.

The other actors also came over one by one, rotating their ankles and kicking their legs.

Wang Zhixin raised his hand, signaling that they were about to start filming.

Everyone tensed up, especially when they saw the stone-faced Luo Ke standing next to the camera. She was a hundred times more terrifying than the actress in female ghost makeup next to her!

Luo Ke just stared at them coldly, her gaze making cold sweat break out on everyone’s backs. The moment they heard Wang Zhixin’s clapperboard snap, they fled as if their lives depended on it, yet their minds were exceptionally clear, remembering their own routes.

“Cut! Good!” Wang Zhixin was ecstatic. This take felt especially good. Not only was the blocking correct, but the actors’ expressions were a degree more realistic.

Luo Ke raised an eyebrow slightly, massaging the corners of her eyes. Staring at people was a bit tiring.

Lin Sifei ran over. Seeing her pressing her eyes, she worriedly took out some eye drops. “Did you not sleep well last night?”

“No, I just got some sand in my eye,” Luo Ke said with a smile, taking her hand.

Lin Sifei sighed in relief. “That’s good.”

After a moment’s hesitation, she added, “If it’s affecting your sleep, you have to tell me, okay?”

This movie was an original story, but to help the actors understand their characters better, Liu Zheng had paid a writer to adapt it into a novel.

As a result, Lin Sifei read the novel every day, and after reading it, she was too scared to sleep.

At first, Luo Ke had asked her curiously, “You don’t even bat an eye at horror movies, so how come you’re so scared reading the novel?”

“Because I have a rich imagination. No matter how scary a movie is, I can see the camera shots, figure out the blocking, and even study the acting. But novels are truly terrifying. My brain conjures up such scary things.”

She wanted to cry but had no tears, so she burrowed into Luo Ke’s embrace.

Luo Ke looked at her. “Then can we do something else? To distract you.”

She tightened her arm around Lin Sifei’s waist and bit the tip of her ear.

“Ahhh!” Lin Sifei abruptly shrank down, pulling the covers over her entire body. “Don’t suddenly grab me, and don’t bite me! I just read about someone getting eaten, and now I’m scared of people’s teeth!”

Luo Ke’s face darkened. When would this damn shoot be over?! It was affecting her quality of life!

The author has something to say:

What I said yesterday wasn’t detailed enough. Actually, according to my original plan, there was still a section of the main text left. But after I finished writing and updating yesterday, I suddenly felt that this was enough, that ending it here was just right. As an author who writes by feel, I’m going to follow my heart (~¯▽¯)~

So, the extras will continue on from the main story. Conquering the entertainment industry and getting married will both be in the extras. Muah.
